Strong female leads but at what cost?

The first 4 episodes of the drama are by far the best. They introduce us to our main characters excellently and I felt they managed to show not tell us a lot within a short span of time. I truly enjoyed the cinematic shots and the main leads, particularly Hui-su, were so evocative I need to see more recognition for her range. That being said, I felt the drop off towards the end, particularly with Kang Jang's character.

The concept of a lookalike alone was very interesting since it involves making people think the murder victim is still alive. I dislike how they had Kang Jang come back to blackmail the two main leads. It just contradicts his previous characterisation and uses the cheap clichè of a poor man being swayed by greed. Additionally, despite such a strong presence in the first episode, the Mahjong guy (sorry his name eludes me since I am writing this a few days after watching), could have been involved more earlier without placing the main leads as damsel in distress.

Anyway, there is rewatch potential but seeing Hui-su get beat up and dragged by the hair by Jin-pyo had me on the verge of tears, and I will most certainly be skipping the blackmail scenes when I do come back to rewatch this.

Hooked on The Scammers

The moment I saw Junior and Mark as leads, I knew this was gonna be good in all aspects because they CARRIED in Perfect 10 Liners. They are such natural and talented actors. I also love that we now have the new ship OhmPoon, a random and unexpected pair that formed after Poon Mitpakdee replaced Fluke Jeeratch. As much as they are visually appealing, let's just protect them at all costs.

Moving on to My Romance Scammer, a series about two con artists, U and Tim, falling in love with cousins North and Pai from a billionaire family. The first episode was great; I hope it sets the epitome for the remaining episodes to follow.

However, as much as I enjoyed this premiere, I'm worried about the director, New Siwaj Sawatmaneekul. He's known for works like Perfect 10 Liners and Head 2 Head, and usually, when a series reaches the halfway mark, his direction tends to lose steam. Whether it's pacing issues or repetitive tropes, many fans feel his shows often start strong but struggle to maintain that same energy. I truly hope he improves on this one and has learned from past mistakes so that the chemistry of JuniorMark and OhmPoon isn't wasted on a dragging plot.

Best romance in a short drama

When he lifted her nose with his I about fell out of my chair with the chemistry sizzling through the screen. This is top romance for a short drama.

Despite it having a ton of predictable xianxia tropes it was still definitely worth watching and rewatching.

An added bonus is the ml is one of the hottest I've seen. I will def be watching his other works.

A waste of time and budget.

I don't know why Yu Bin did this project,he had good ones in the year but this one honestly was crappy...it might be for the paycheck but surely you can't build your brand with stellar performances then decide to close the year with a bad production.It was soo bad despite it being short i had to drop it....i couldn't endure it.It was not worth it.You get the jist of the story but it is just not working out,the colour tones were just off for a moment i thought i stumbled upon an old bl....the dialogue did not make sense.The characters had no chemistry....I don't know why this project was given a go ahead for production.

A M A Z I N G P E R F E C T I O N

I just have to share my thoughts on this drama, because it brought me sooo many emotions, that I really feel the need to express it in some way!

It started with the enemies-to-lovers and it was done / executed perfectly! So much so that for the first 2 episodes I was really believed the MLs would kill each other at any moment, and even if they didn't I was really worried and curious at the same time how they will turn the story 360° around and still make their affection and love to one another believable... Well they did... the story was logical and very well paced, and that goes not only for the MLs' love-journey but for the WHOLE show.
Every character had their reasons, had logic to every step and every decision they took. Be it good or evil, I really couldn't bring myself to judge none of them, because I could see their journey and how they become what they are. Each and every character stayed true to themselves till the very end!
The whole production was just a m a z i n g!
What made this drama different for me is that it had me literally vocally react to almost every scene!
I was: amazed, shocked, amused, startled, AMAZED....
I noticed and appreciated the script from the start. There were lines and scenes that really impressed me for their originallity.
There were so many small but impactful details that made me more and more immersed in the story.
The way that every scene was shot by the production and expressed by all the actors was pure c i n e m a .
The combination: the plot + the script + the acting + the OST = 💯
The result of all of this combined was just P E R F E C T I O N

Solid run for this subgenre

You pretty much get what is on the tin.

The production value is better than most shorts, feels more like a proper cdrama.

The eps are shorts though, so it stays focused on the main plotline and sees it through to the end. Not too much unique, but sticks to what it is and does it well. Pretty much just a well executed run of the usual tropes. Nothing special but not too bad either.

I was surprised how it caught me

I patiently waited for this drama to be complete so I could watch it in two days like nothing.

The beginning was quite mysterious and sometimes scary, until you get used to the ghosts. Not only characters came to the set, but also mysteries and revelations, when I tried to come up with my theories the whole time, but I was not successful. I liked it. Or at least the first half. The second half annoyed me at times because the real drama was happening and at the beginning, they just drank coffee, didn't think and moved like zombies. As if human lives were not at stake at all. But in the end there was a touching moment and somehow you forgot about it.

I wouldn't have anything to criticize about the characters and their portrayal, except that I still saw characters from Pit Babe in them. The behavior of the main characters was very similar.

Morticia Addams is now killing demons!

I was about to give this drama a 7.5 score unfortunately the last 3 episodes made it a 7.
This series is pretty enjoyable action drama.
A secret society has being fighting demon like creatures for centuries but now a new menace is on the horizon. Pretty simple and straightforward.
Nothing groundbreaking plot wise but the series has a good pace (and relative short episodes) which makes it enjoyable.

The characters have an interesting backstory and ark. The romance is there but is not overbearing.
Funny to say giving the fact that the series is based on a "fighting organization", but the actual action scenes are the greatest.
They are not cringe, on the other hand they are not mesmerizing as well. The camera tries to cut away many times to avoid showing the audience how the characters is moving.
Another point to make, but maybe this is just me, is that the explanation of how the creature are created or transformed in the show is muddy. I didn't quite grasped it. It gets more clear near the end but during the drama I was confused.
As I said before, until the last 3 episodes the drama was engaging and interesting but after the "big fight scenes", we get 2 episodes with characters rescuing others and the last 2 episodes add cliques...
The female leads loses her memories which is so clique.....
Other footnote is that the drama sometimes forgets characters and don't mention them until 10 episodes later..
If you are looking for something other than Rom coms this is a good show.

P.s. I loved the female lead and her Morticia Addams vibes.

This is what happens when a girlboss lawyer refuses to stay down, no matter who tries to bury her.

Why Her? follows Oh Soo Jae — a brilliant lawyer turned professor — as she fights corruption, old secrets, and questionable romance.

Disclaimer: This review is 100% my opinion — I’m not here to hate, just to share my thoughts! Also, SPOILERS AHEAD, so proceed with caution if you haven’t watched yet. Watch it, come back and let’s see if you agree. Let’s keep the discussion respectful and fun! 💕

The Good
A Plot That Actually Held Up in Court
For a 16-episode legal drama with revenge, corruption, murder, and romance, it never lost momentum. The pacing had purpose, and every episode gave just enough to keep you hooked without tipping its hand too soon. When a drama leans into its own complexity and still keeps the viewer locked in? That’s not just good writing, it’s a rare achievement.

Oh Soo Jae Was That Girl
From the very first scene, Soo Jae walked in like the building owed her rent. Calculated, sharp, emotionally armored and yet still deeply human. Whether she was wiping blood off her face, shutting down political pawns, or casually threatening billionaires, she never lost control.

Every Thread Wove the Same Tapestry
You have to respect a writer who remembers their own plot. The fact that Jin Ki’s daughter, Chan’s sister, the three spoiled sons, Se Pil, Hansu Bio — literally everything — tied back into the main plot was so satisfying. Every loose end got resolved, every puzzle piece snapped into place. And let’s be honest, the only unanswered question was what we’re supposed to do with ourselves now that it’s over. And honestly? I’m okay with that.

The Bad
Oh Soo Jae: Girlboss… or Loyal Employee #457?
Let’s talk about that ending. After years of enduring Tae Kook’s manipulation, betrayal, and literal criminal coverups, Oh Soo Jae’s “final form” was a small firm and a university classroom? Sure, peace over power is valid, but it felt like she settled more than she triumphed. She walked straight into the lion’s den, vowed revenge, and then quietly filed paperwork for ten years instead. She spent years doing every vile thing he ordered her to do, only for it to amount to… basically nothing.
What made it worse was the irony: she called Jin Ki out for his decade of silence while doing the exact same thing. Like he literally faked her child’s death. Hello?

Chan: Boundary Issues in a Cinnamon Roll Wrapper
There’s persistent, and then there’s Gong Chan. Every time he showed up uninvited, declared he was sleeping at her house, or forced his “support” during trauma cooldown moments, I couldn’t help but cringe. Soo Jae repeatedly told him he was crossing the line, yet he kept vaulting over it like it wasn’t even painted. It gave strong “I know what’s best for you even though you said no” energy.
He didn’t respect her boundaries, and while Soo Jae eventually let him in, it doesn’t erase the manipulative undertone and the fact that he took advantage of every crisis. I just couldn’t stand how persistent and boundary-stomping he was and how the show expected us to swoon over it.

How Was Everyone Okay With The Teacher-Student Thing?
Let’s be blunt: it’s not just about age. It’s about power dynamics. Soo Jae was his professor. He called her “Ms. Oh.” She graded his papers. And she kissed him before midterms. That alone should have been enough for HR intervention or, at the very least, a serious conversation.

Jae Yi’s Death Felt Emotionally Manipulative
Why did Jae Yi have to die? I’m still irritated about it. That plot twist did nothing except slap Soo Jae with extra pain for shock value. Either the baby should’ve stayed dead at birth, or Jae Yi should’ve stayed alive. Pick one.

Having her survive just so she could get hit by a truck out of nowhere was so unnecessary; especially since the accident itself made no sense. She looked both ways. It was a quiet road. The truck should’ve seen her from a mile away. Why did no one see it until the last second? The whole thing was tragic for no good reason, and it honestly knocked the show down to an 8/10 for me. Sometimes sad for the sake of sad just feels cheap and this was one of those times.

Chan’s Cellmates: Friendship by Vibes Only
Let’s break this down: Chan was in prison for allegedly murdering his own sister. So when two older cellmates decided to befriend him and help him build a new life… how did they just know he didn’t do it? I mean we know he didn’t do it, but without knowing, how would you know? The evidence was mounting and he even said he did it during the prison tussle he got into. So what made them stop and think “I know he said he did it and all the evidence points to him, but I just know he didn’t do it”..? We got no backstory, no heart-to-heart, no “we’ve seen injustice before” bonding moment, just instant loyalty.

Money Is a Real Villain and That’s the Scariest Part
Honestly? The show felt almost too real in its depiction of elite corruption. What’s wild is that if you swapped out the names for real-life companies and politicians, you wouldn’t even blink. Coverups, false trials, bribery, buried evidence—it’s horrifying how plausible all of it is. The only thing that broke realism? That the rich people actually got exposed. Because in real life, they don’t always get courtroom monologues and public shame. They get settlements, NDAs, promotions, and vacations.

Justice Had Great Lighting, But No Teeth
I think what disappointed me most about the ending, besides Soo Jae’s half-baked “happy” ending, was that justice didn’t even feel properly served. When Tae Kook died, it wasn’t satisfying. It wasn’t earned. It was a sudden exit-stage-left that robbed the audience of watching him feel the consequences.
And what happened to the rest of the villains? Chairman Seong Beom? Hansu Bio? Assemblyman In Soo? The show hinted they’d face fallout but never showed it. So yeah, the ending didn’t hit nearly as hard as it could have, and it felt like it skipped the final chapter just to give Gong Chan and Soo Jae their umbrella moment. Cute. But not enough for a show this good.

Final Thoughts
This show was a near masterpiece, in my opinion. I was hooked from the second I hit play. With Oh Soo Jae being an absolute icon and the crime twist keeping every episode tense, what wasn’t to love? Even when I reached the end, the parts that annoyed me didn’t ruin the experience.

And honestly? If a drama can keep me glued to the screen, not drag things out just to hit 16 episodes, and give me a female lawyer lead who chews men up and spits them out, then I’m not complaining. Well, not too much.

Next time, just keep the student crushes out of the syllabus and we’re good.

~~~
What did you think of this show? It’s still one of my favourites despite its issues. If I choose to watch a show more than once, you know it’s a fav!
Did you like the relationship between Oh Soo Jae and Gong Chan or are you normal? Joking, you’re great 😉
This was very light and lovely.
A very simple story, cliché and predictable but still done well, the two leads were great, I loved them both separately and I get excited whenever two of my favourites acts together, they were very comfortable with each other and the chemistry was fantastic.
The story was too romantic, with little drama and no evil characters, or at least the antagonists were not extreme.
However the story seemed a little redundant, but still because it was enjoyable I have nothing to complain about, just watching the two leads having a very normal moments isn't bad.
Overall very lovely, the FL is adorable and cute.
Recommended if you want something light ~~
You know what you are watching!
First of all, am not claiming that this is the best drama or anything. There are many things which i didnt like about this series but... you guys knew what you were watching. Am relatively new to k-dramas, i am mainly a bl watcher, but i wanted to watch something different to expand my taste. I exclusively typed into google that i wanted to watch an office drama. And this popped up. I read the premise of the show and i knew what i was going to watch and somewhat knew what the story is gonna be like. So i am confused about the reviews saying that its just another business drama/rich guy-poor girl/cliche.. and bla bla bla. You knew what you were gonna get. Like, you picked the show and you read what its gonna be about. I dont understand people who are complaining that its about a poor girl and a rich guy when you literally read it in the description of the damn show.
But... bl and kdramas are a bit different but and the end of the day, its a tv show. So from what ive seen it wasnt the worst. The comedy aspect of the show was actually really good. Yes, there were times where i cringed but there were far more times where i literally visible laughed. The cliches were there, but i think it was more in a sense of making fun of the cliches and it being like that on purpose . I think its different when shows are cliche and cringe and they dont know about it and when they do. Because when they do, it can actually be fun.
The only thing i will say that i really didnt like, was the end. Sure, he proposed, it was a happy ending...but it fell flat for me. I really didnt get why he had to leave to America in the like the last 15 minutes of the whole series and then the scandal about dating 5 minutes before end. There was no closure for me and it didnt leave any emotions in me just like "Oh, thats it."
There were more things which i liked and didnt like but i dont think that they are that important to point out. Theres always gonna be something what ill not like because i watched too many dramas xd. I learned how to not be so negative and just enjoy what i am watching. I am not saying we should not be critical and lower our standards but not everything is as horrible and urgent as you may think.
I don’t know about the love, but my thoughts about this show can barely be translated
Sometimes I feel like k-drama screenwriters blindly shoot at a concept board of niche ideas and then try to connect the dots between everything they landed on so that it makes sense. This drama takes the cake in this regard: it could have carefully and purposefully explored cheating, unrequited love, family and medical trauma, sudden rise to fame, delusional disorders, miscommunication regardless of language, the inner conflict between jealousy and professionalism, I could go on. But it didn’t: all of these topics were discussed on a surface level, and the introduction of every next plot element felt like a whiplash. I could get on board with the almost fantasy-like depiction of Muhee’s hallucinations in the first half of the show, but even they felt like a betrayal to me as a viewer, since I went into this expecting to watch a “realistic” romantic comedy. From episode 7 onwards, however, it was simply a mess: the genre switched, new ideas kept appearing, we learned so much about the characters that we simply didn’t need to know, and the conflicts already laid out barely got a satisfying resolution.
The main premise - the reality format “Romantic trip” and Muhee falling for the interpreter in her ear instead of the Japanese actor she is going on dates with - is lovely. I think the show did a good job of exploring the relationship between language and love, but it could’ve gone even deeper. What are the constraints of Muhee and Hiro not speaking each other’s language when it comes to developing feelings? What misunderstandings can happen even if she and Joo Hojin can communicate freely? The message of “there are as many languages as people” is beautiful and I think the show missed out on not fleshing it out even further. In this line of thought, I wish we had seen more of Muhee and Hiro’s relationship, or at least understood why he ends up falling so hard for her despite her rejecting him all throughout the show, never bothering to learn to speak his language and going from 0 to 100 for no reason (at least from his perspective). I assume the show didn’t go in this direction to avoid setting up a love triangle like it appeared it would in the initial episodes, but I think simply seeing more of the filming process would’ve provided much needed context for both Hiro AND Hojin’s feelings towards Muhee. (Also, I self-indulgingly wish I’d seen much more of Hojin’s struggle to interpret Hiro’s growing fondness towards Muhee).
The biggest flaw of the show is definitely Do Rami in those middle three or four episodes. The motives behind her actions did not make any sense to me at all, even when one accounts for Muhee’s childhood trauma, negative self-talk and avoidant tendencies. On the one hand, Rami was there to push Muhee to do things she otherwise wouldn’t (that could bring her happiness), on the other, she was simply sabotaging her. The episodes where Rami was in the spotlight were incredibly frustrating to watch and did not manage to achieve the desired effect of her acting as an interpreter between Muhee and Hojin. Not to mention that, as far as I know, that’s not the way dissociative identity disorder functions: other personalities don’t simply disappear once their protective (or chaos-stirring, according to this drama) role is fulfilled. Muhee’s mental problems were not researched with the care needed to portray conditions surrounded by so much misinformation already. I wish the show had simply focused on her audiovisual hallucinations and how they affect her work on set and relationships with the crew. It could’ve even touched upon medical neglect instead, since one of the psychiatrists in the beginning did say her problems are “beyond medicine” (in the subtitles I read). Anything would’ve made more sense than what ended up in the script.
I hated that the main recurring conflict was between the leads and their mutual backing off from confessing/committing to each other, when it would’ve been way more heartwarming and meaningful to show them sticking together despite everything and navigating any misunderstandings by learning more about each other’s pasts and minds. I would’ve loved, for instance, a bigger focus on their family histories in a way that actually contributes to understanding how they act. What did Hojin’s shaky relationship with his mom bring to the plot? Absolutely nothing, it tied to nothing else and contextualised none of his behaviors or beliefs. What about his novel? Was that the only way to write a(n unnecessary) conflict between him and his mom, something to mention on two occasions and then never again? And why did we barely get to see anything about his relationship with his brother, the one who was supposed to marry his long-time unrequited crush Jiseon? Wouldn’t a conflict there have been much more productive in the grand scheme of things?
Genuinely, the vagueness of the show regarding so many of its central elements has to be where everything falls flat. Because we never really understand why Hojin was so hung up on Jiseon, or why she came together with his brother to begin with. It is never explained how Muhee’s uncle and aunt mistreated her, and the big reveal in the end regarding her family had 0 emotional impact and felt like an afterthought simply added to the script to explain Do Rami’s presence from a couple of episodes ago. These random lore drops that were barely explored felt like the screenwriters were exceptionally proud of a brainstorming session and wanted to include everything they'd come up with about all characters, regardless if it actually contributes to the show.
But at the end of the day, I mostly enjoyed watching this drama. The event-packed plot prevented me from taking breaks even when I was endlessly frustrated, and the acting was truly exceptional to the point where it distracted me from… everything else. I wouldn’t Not recommend it - just be prepared for disappointment, especially if you’re expecting a romantic comedy like I did.
L'amore in teoria dovrebbe migliorarti
Questo è un po' il senso di questa storia, l'amore dovrebbe poterti rendere migliore e invece non sempre lo fa. Alcune volte addirittura ti rende peggiore di quello che sei e poi guarire diventa difficile, complesso e bisogna fare molti sforzi. Alcune volte per guarire bisogna prendere una strada lunga, molto lunga, e su quella strada molto spesso succede che le persona che si incontrano sono quelle che migliorano la vita e che ti mettono nella condizione di cambiare. Anche se avrei preferito che il personaggio di Dew non si mettesse assieme alla fine, sono contanta che sia stato mostrato il cambiamento che ha fatto e che sta continuando. Diciamo che poi sono felice per il mio amore Cliize che abbia avuto questo ruolo, un po' di fantasma dell'amore passato, di quell'amore che ahimè non ha migliorato nessuno dei due protagonisti. Anche se non è la mia storia preferita di MTL devo dire che sono proprio contenta degli insegnamenti che regala questa serie.
The more i rewatch it the better it gets
I found this drama after watching Star and Sky. Initially i skipped it cz the poster gave serious vibes but then i saw edits on style and cz i loved JD From SnS i gave this a go only for them and I loved it. The 1st time i watched it ngl i skipped all FirstKhao scenes cz i didn't find their story interesting n was not much into their pairing. O was here for FadelStyle. People in the comments say Dunk sucked as Style but i totally disagree. He's the most perfect style we can get. His character is a mechanic he's supposed to be a little rough round the edges but also he's supposed to be a little feminine abd beautiful which dunk delivered. I feel this is probably the most beautiful dunk character I've seen off the 4 dramas. His acting had definitely improved when compared to SnS i liked every bit of FadelStyle. I might be too emotional but i cried when Style tries to stop Fadel from killing people indirectly, the way he handles the ex's death, them talking about being burried together and when he followed fadel knowing he was gonna die, n when he cried in that hotel😭. Style is probably the greenest bottom I've seen in the history of BL. He's kinda cocky and weird but he loved Fadel a lot❤️. The drama was just soo beautiful and perfect.
Months later i just had an urge to rewatch this gem obviously for FadelStyle but also cz we dont have many dramas with this kinda plot where it involves mafia and hitmen but is also comical and romantic and also cz now i also was into FirstKhao ship and this time i rewatched the whole thing without skipping and i loved it even more. I think a drama deserves a 10 if you're going back to rewatch it. So I'm gonna give it a 10 cz ik im gonna be rewatching it over and over again.
A gripping journey to love, friendship, and growth
From the very beginning, the dynamic between the male lead and female lead is powerful and captivating. They are truly “power couple” coded. Their relationship is not only about romance, but about partnership, loyalty, and mutual respect. They fight side by side, protect each other, and grow together. What I loved most is that they are lovers, but also trusted companions, and that balance is rare to see done this well.
The Liu Dao Hall gang brings so much life into the story. Their scenes mix humor with seriousness perfectly, making the drama engaging without breaking the tension. The supporting cast is strong overall. Some characters are louder and more memorable, while others are more low key, but none feel wasted. A few annoying characters appear, like Li Tong Guang, who is probably the most irritating one, but thankfully they never dominate the plot to the point of ruining the experience.
This was my first drama with Liu Yu Ning as a male lead, and he impressed me a lot. He carries both strength and emotional depth naturally. The entire cast performs well, but He Lan Dou as Princess Yang Ying deserves special praise. She completely immersed herself in the role. Unlike many cross dressed characters in C-dramas, she actually felt believable as a prince. Watching her grow from a timid, crying girl into a composed, calculating, and confident leader was refreshing and very well acted.
The female lead is the strongest presence in the drama. She is badass, intelligent, and independent. She does not need a man to save her. Ironically, she is the one who boldly chooses a man for her own purpose and ends up genuinely falling in love. Her strength never takes away from her emotions, and that balance makes her character very attractive to watch.
Ability-wise, we can say they're the the birds of a feather that flock together.
COMEDY
Intense fight scenes
A group of likeable characters with their heartening/ inspirational relationship
The plot stays interesting from start to finish. There are several love stories happening, but romance never overshadows the main story. Loyalty is the core theme of this drama. Loyalty to one’s mission, companions, family, and love. Every character is driven by something meaningful, which makes their choices feel heavy and real.
Everything about this drama felt top notch to me, from the cinematography to the acting and character writing. Even the side characters and bit roles are handled with care. I watched this at the start of last year and waited a long time to write a review, but even after almost a year, I do not want to change my rating. For me, this is a near perfect drama.
It was also my first experience with a drama that has a sad ending, and surprisingly, it built my immunity for SE dramas. I still enjoyed every part of the journey without feeling betrayed by the story. The ending hurt, but it made sense emotionally, and that is why it stayed with me instead of disappointing me.
A Journey to You is not just about romance or action. It is about loyalty, growth, companionship, and choosing each other even when the world is cruel. It left a strong impression on me, and it is one of those dramas that you remember long after finishing.
