Confusing
This drama was quite confusing, it didn't really make sense until episode 7. It wasn't bad, but this drama failed to keep me interested. You do need to see the 3 minute extra edition after episode 8, it gives a little bit more closure. The music was beautiful and the visuals good.
The acting was ok, but i didn't really "feel" the actors.
Only Gao Ming Yuan (Chen Shi) really carried the whole drama, his acting was outstanding! I really felt every emotion he portrayed.
I won't rewatch this again.

Female protagonist who suffers a misfortune and finds love in the middle of the road
I won't say much. The romance is embracing and captivating - the main couple doesn't talk about it - but all their actions prove it. It is in the chapter between 30 and 32 where they affirm their love relationship and until the end of the story they give us sweet moments.
If you want to see a drama where they don't break up their relationship (I saw one where they broke up more than three times (Wonderland of Love, I will never forgive you) - when they are a couple they are razors, be sweet but don't be the main thing in the story. A sexy ML, a silver tongue FL. It's your drama.
My score is not 10 for two reasons (SPOILER) in the end we have the unexpected deaths of the ML teams - unnecessary at that time - where they did want to give it drama and make it tragic. They could have killed him in the main war with the people or in a scene further from the end. I didn't suffer, it was uncomfortable. Second reason, the protagonist continued to deny his feelings with the emperor until the moment they became a couple, he hated those moments where he said it was a chess piece. I know it was so as not to involve her in danger.
A sweet couple - who made me embarrassed and stopped some chapters to recover and be able to talk -. I hope I'm not the only one

Reason behind the killing is annoying..
Overall, it was a solid drama, the acting was top-notch, and every character fit seamlessly into the story. But the motive behind the murder? Total nonsense. I get that the killer wasn’t exactly sane, but they really should’ve crafted a more compelling reason. I appreciate that they tried to avoid the cliché 'she’s just a psychopath' angle, but still, the explanation felt weak. If the motive had actually made sense, this could’ve easily been a 10/10.I feel like the apology was an excuse from them cause if truly they went to court then they should have gotten a court order asking the painter to apologise instead of bombing him with unnecessary calls.. I also loved that the witch also unalived herself cause what will be her reason for living??

beauty privilege is real
selama nonton ini di kepala cuma kepikiran emang beauty privilege is real karena bisa diliat ahjin ini manipulatif & red flag final boss tapi masih aja pada setia sama dia apalagi cowo-cowo, tapi emang perlu di garis bawahi masa lalunya dia juga kejam banget beban hidupnya dia tuh dari kecil ga abis-abis. makanya salut banget sama orang yang dari keluarga yang diperlakukan kejam tapi masih berusaha jadi orang baik karena jujur aku ga menyalahkan kenapa ahjin jadi orang jahat bukan sebagai pembunuh tapi manipulatif dll. tapi alangkah baiknya jangan diikuti ya malah ceramah. aktingnya oke bangetWas this review helpful to you?

Alternative title "Clueless Prince"
I am writing this review after the second watching because when it first showed on my IQIYI feed there was no page for this title here on MDL. Now that the title was added I could not even remember what the story was about and how to rate it - hence rewatching. The verdict?1. Banal story,
2. Dumb ML character,
3. so-so acting
4. interesting ending.
5. GORGEOUS COSTUMES!!!!
Overall, who needs enemies if you have family like hers??? The offset is his family and their integrity, but honestly, there was nothing here of interest other than jaw dropping spiffy outfits with elegant hair ornaments, jewelry and pretty interior design. 2nd time around I watched it at 2x speed not really paying attention to anything other than the eye feasting views. Which probably will tell you if you should even start watching.
The ending though... I liked the FL's characterization, and the conclusion was fitting if not satisfying. I do not hope for s2 even though this VD has "end of chapter 1" on the final frame.

Predictable, slow, dull characters—fast-forward needed
This drama had so much potential based on the synopsis, but the actual story felt flat and dragged out. The two leads, both the male and female, looked great together but their characters were written so dull that it was hard to stay interested. Every scene felt slow, and the emotional beats didn’t land because the characters barely grew or changed. The plot was predictable from the start, and after a few episodes, I already knew exactly where everything was heading.I still finished all the episodes, hoping it would get better, but I honestly found myself tapping the fast-forward button more than watching normally. The pacing was just too slow, and the story didn’t offer anything new or exciting. It’s one of those shows that seems promising at first but ends up feeling stretched without enough substance. Casual watch at best, but don’t expect much.

1950s sexism drama. Great for those who do not think and love to watch some s#x. The plot is awful.
This drama takes the worst of kdramas combined with the worst of the West. It goes backwards to 1950s (to be precise: 1200s) concept so prevalent in older kdramas - a stupid kind and sexy damsel in distress saved by a strong, loving, loyal, rich, controling, entitled cruel man who turns all soft bc of her.=====
I watched this to the end so that I can trash this trash on Dramabeans bc the requirement is to watch a drama to the end in order to comment on it.
ML is chasing FL although she doesnt want him and keeps lying. She wants him but she doesnt want to work for it, so if he insists on falling into her lap, she might consider it, but will bail out and quit at the slightest inconvenience.
He has been chasing her from like ep 1, she kept pushing him away and lying, and she trepidly consented in ep 11,12... and then brazenly lied again and quit fast in ep 13.
Yeah this game is getting old..... To lie so brazenly to someone you "love" is NOT love. To keep chasing someone who does not respond is also not love, it is a mating obsession.
This drama is not a silly frilly rom com, Where is comedy, and where is romance. It is a toxic soapy melodrama trash with too much TMI skinship to the point of sexual harassment at work - and seems like that got the 8+ rating to this drama. which is disappointing. It is Kollywood cesspool.
This is a trashy daily drama material, a makjang melo with unreasonable toxic plots. But even daily kdramas are getting sophisticated these days. Queen's House 100 ep daily is a LOT better than Dynamite Kiss (well after first 20-30 episodes LOL while FL is 100% dumb and naive and blind)
This is a comment of someone else who sums it up well:
https://kisskh.at/778830-kiss-me-for-no-reas
I would just add to that comment that FL lied AGAIN to ML's face, looking him in the eye and hurting him intentionally.
============
FL is a pathetic loser, poor and choosing to stay home and not really participate in life, she is insecure, illogical, VERY WEAK, powerless "victim" (altough she has so many chances to NOT be powerless and the choice to stay powerless is hers... we are in year 2025, not 1950 or 1200.... ) and then FL decides to lie to somehow get ahead, and KEEPS LYING EVEN WHEN SHE HAS CHANCES TO CONFESS AND THERE IS NO NEED TO LIE AND LIES ARE HURTING PPL.... Then she keeps doing stupid things and he keeps saving her. In DK, she trips/falls or drowns or gets cut or somehow injured LITERALLY several times per episode, and he is always there to save her.
This kind of plot is prevalent in many kdramas and it is 10000 % sexism. The FL is a powerless weak clutz damsel in distress, and ML is a controlling knight in shining armor hot stud sugar daddy.
THE AUDIENCE ON MDL PAGE FOR DK LOVES IT. They totally defend FL and feel sorry for ML. The amount of blindly illogical comments I saw there is astounding.
I think it helps bc DK is full of s@xual scenes, they kiss or try to at least once per episode, and there are explicit bed scenes, so all of that portrays ... well... very cheap script and going in the direction of Hollywood cesspool... s@x and violence.
****** So imo this drama takes the worst of kdramas combined with the worst of the West. ******
The drama is mediocre at best.
By ep 8, the female lead has ZERO growth. There are only 14 episodes, so chances are that FL stays a damsel in distress till the end. Maybe she will have a job, and that will be her accomplishment.
ML at least learned about hormones.
ML is a bull in a mating season, all hormones and no brains. FL is a super weak person and a slimey liar who keeps lying and lying although she has plenty opportunities to confess. BUT she is eager to kiss and jump into bed. She also trips falls drowns about 10 times per episode and he saves her. She thanks him saying he is like a father to her.
This is 1950s messages about dumb women who need a man to save them. It is extreme sexist brainwashing. A small child in adult female body, and a smart rich sugar daddy who takes care of her. Without him, she dies. Literally. He saved her life at least once.
This drama has high ratings which shows many very young ppl voted on it. THe drama in reality is blah
but it has plenty kissing and racy TMI scenes...
so ... it will be popular :) for sure :) but .... it is meaningless soapy delusional trash :) Designed to make every loser out there feel like they would deserve such a dedicated, hot, rich and handsome guy like ML.
The only positive note: ML actor acts pretty well and has progressed into complex ML roles
====
The plot:
ML was a controling psycho at the start, then used FL, then played with her bc she kisses hot and he wanted to bag her, then was sad when she ghosted, ... then ... later.... angry when he discovered she was married... he just discovered homones and that he cannot control neither the hormones nor roping of this woman.... he is NOT used to not being in control!!!!!! then... SHE IS AH SO CARING AND NICE.... and ML got to develop some feelings for her, and that combined with his controlling entitled nature, turned him into a BULL IN MATING SEASON, all hormones no brains.... I have seen till ep 9 and that is the situation
ML is genuinely in love after ep....?. I forget which. At first, he was just a controlling cold predator, got interested in her kiss, and he started bagging her... but then .... she disappeared and he realized HE WANTS HER BC SHE KISSED HIM HOT .. and he did not get to finish eating his pray. So he genuinely gets mad bc he wants to finish eating his pray and then gets sad bc it did not happen... and his pray is right there in front of his nose.... and this feeling of infatuation even becomes some kind of caring feeling and then a more genuine love feeling.
As they say, the path to men's heart is food LOL or ... s@x.... or ... god forbid, character LOL on top of other things
So anyways, he did show genuine care towards her but it was always bc she was yummy and he was curious JUST BC OF THAT.
SO ML turns out to be a bull in mating season, all hormones and no brains.
This is the situation before ep 9.
SO IT CATERS TO ALL IMMATURE, WEAK WOMEN THINKING ONE DAY THEY TOO CAN ROPE IN THIS KIND OF "STRONG POWERFUL RICH HANDSOME" GUY WHO WILL KEEP SAVING THEM.
NO MATTER HOW MUCH JERK HE IS, HE WILL OVERNIGHT BECOME THE BESTEST MAN IN THE WORLD *** FOR HIS WOMAN ***
there is nothing wrong with liking this concept, and practicing it in real life, that is what love is supposed to be, BUT this drama makes it happen WITHOUT ANY CHARACTER GROWTH.
ML is 12 yrs old and just discovered hormones, and FL is 3 yrs old small insecure weak powerless child. AND IT STAYS THAT WAY. Ep 9 starts with that and there is only 12 episoded.
ZERO CHARACTER GROWN IN ANYONE, EP 1-8. **** ZERO. **** THAT IS A MAIN PROBLEM WITH THIS DRAMA
====
I will quote review from Oppa_: " FL lied — and that is wrong. But she lied because she felt she had no power. Meanwhile, the ML acted out of entitlement, confidence, and the authority he held over her. Those are not the same type of wrongdoing. One is a survival tactic; the other is a conscious use of power."
But this is only the tip of the iceberg.
The iceberg itself is enslavement and exploitation of women that went on for thousands of years. FL and ML in that drama are symbols of that era and that thinking.
The Asian flavor of it is a chaste damsel in distress.. Western version is a Barbie Doll s@x toy damsel in distress.. So Western media always uses and abuses filling the movies and series with explicit s#x... This drama has too many s@xual scenes - kissing or trying to, and some bed scenes that are TMI imo. This cheap stuff sells...
This drama imo combines the worst of asian version of patriarchy and Western media cesspool...
Patriarchy ruled the earth for thousands of years and basically enslaved women, 50% of population, into being slaves, working for free stuck inside home, without any money and power to control the resources. This is done so that 50% of population (males) has control of 100% of resources. THE BASIS OF JUSTIFYING THIS IS THAT A WOMAN IS TOO DUMB AND WEAK AND POWERLESS AND EMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE TO EVEN SURVIVE.
Early humans were matriarchal societies, apparently, so this patriarchy started somehow... I am sure this started somehow relted bc a man has 7 times more muscle power than a woman of the same size....
indeed a man fights better with lions and indeed can haul a deer home and build a house fast... and indeed can fight intruders and indeed can provide some good s@x... so probably some horny woman let her darling take over the bed and then out of complacency let him "take care of it all for her" ... or maybe some strong guys defended their clans and thus became leaders....
and then the guys took over and matriarchy was GONE. Women became slaves. Glorified slaves LOL Glorified domestic animals... praised for producing children (aka more soldiers, work labor, and connections and influence) and for working non-stop to maintain males who just show up to rule and enjoy the privileges
IN THE PATRIARCHAL WORLD, A WOMAN IS INDEED OFFICIALLY POWERLESS... SHE IS PROPERTY OF HER FATHER AND THEN HUSBAND.... AND SURVIVES ONLY IF A MAN IS HER FRONT.
AND WOMEN RESORT TO CUNNING AND S#X TO GET WHAT THEY WANT AND NEED. bc that is the only path available. And men are thus afraid of women... and there is a huge distrust on both sides... And women fight other women in this never-ending fight to find the male who will be THE BEST ONE to protect them...
So basically we are talking animal behavior, just more complex.
But it is actually a LOT more worse bc... both men and women are manipulated and exploited. Men are taught to be cruel and heartless and emotionless bc... they too are used as pions... they are the soldiers and henchman of the elites... they are the dogs that work for the elites... without blinking an eye, they destroy and die ... at war or corporate desk.... they are bland, empty WORKER / SOLDIER ROBOTS .... ...
and women are slaves who act and do all the care, kindness and nurturing, and restore and maintain these robots... Women are slaves who act as psychiatric nurses, who do all the work producing, raising and maintatining robots, who do all the daily care, feeding, chores, that is necessary to produce and grow new robots and support and maintain the operating robots.
IT IS LIKE A FARM, OWNED AND RUN BY SOME EVIL PPL who make sure that all the robots and slaves never communicate and always distrust and harass and cheat each other, trying to rise to the top levels of robots and slaves... never letting each other escape, always dragging each other down back into the hell...
Basically, someone owns a tank of crabs, uses them as food, and fuels their instinct to drag each other down into the cauldron
And meanwhile, someone on the top pulls all the strings and abuses this army of animals they roped in to work on their behalf, That someone on the top is wealthy and privileged and manipulates the masses - since these robots and slaves are totally easy to manipulate. DK audience comments demonstrated that soooo well...
And DK is all about that. It hits all those key point of patriarchy,
As you said, ML is controlling, cruel, rich, entitled, etc totally devoid of feeling
and FL is irrational, dumb, spaced out, powerless, loser, emotional, etc AND SHE SOFTENS THE HEART OF THAT MAN AND THEY LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
That is the dream, the illusion of all slaves and robots stuck in this hierarchy All those loser women fantasize they can stay a flawed character and get a super sugar daddy to take care of them and adore them no matter how immature and flawed they are,
and all robots fantasize how they will get a stupid but sexy and kind slave who will take care of them and provide fun - s#x, attention, care, etc that will recharge them and keep them going
STUPID MEN LIKE DUMB WOMEN. THEY ARE EASY TO CONTROL
DK plays on all these tropes and that's why I called it 1950s but it is really... 1200s attitudes LOL

Lost potential
Despite a great cast and interesting character development, the series leads nowhere. We begin with her school days, which are brutally interrupted, and we're transported to the real world, where our heroine is a celebrity. And that's where the entire storyline falls apart. We supposedly have men devoted to her, but the interactions between them are limited. We supposedly have a female protagonist with a well-developed personality, but she doesn't really do anything interesting for several episodes. Her obsession with achieving a high social position doesn't quite mesh with her story. Our greatest regret is that the guy who "helped" her ended up in prison. One scene of his gaze in prison suggests revenge. The script is disappointing, as the guy suddenly declares he forgives her, which is laughable. 0 love stories. The series' wasted potential. Was this review helpful to you?
A drama where you end up falling for every single character. Truly enchanting, truly a masterpiece.
Love on the Turquoise Land is one of those rare dramas that doesn’t just tell a story it builds a whole fictional world of characters, emotions that feels strangely alive. And the thing that hooked me right from the start wasn’t just the plot or the scenery it was the cast. Every single character NJL, YT, LXR, XH, LL, LX, XS, YR and everyone else showed up were just perfect. Nobody was filler. Nobody was flat. They all carried their own weight and made this fantasy world come alive.Fantasy adaptations are really difficult to adapt as you start with nothing but imagination and a blank canvas, and somehow the production team managed to bring out the novel’s atmosphere into these gorgeous, surreal landscapes. The director and team deserve real praise for scouting and building such a visually poetic world, and the writer she stitched together a story that felt engaging from beginning to end. People love to complain about pacing, but honestly, I never felt anything was "off." Every minute had purpose. Every pause held meaning. And let’s not forget that a ton of scenes had benn chopped off thanks to chinese censorship which explains the uneven episode lengths yet the emotional core still stayed intact.
The hunters’ storyline was one of the most unexpectedly grounded parts of the show. They weren’t framed as superheroes. They were exactly what a 200-year-old clan fighting evolved monsters would be brave but outmatched, loyal but imperfect. They’d never seen di xiao before, so of course they weren’t automatically powerful. The show didn’t romanticize bravery it showed how human weakness and stubborn courage can coexist. Their loyalty to their ancestors felt genuine, not forced, and it made their struggles hit harder.
And then… NJL. The moment she stepped on screen, everything locked into place. She was exactly how readers imagined her ethereal, self assured, aloof, empathetic, a little cocky, and quietly royal in her energy. Dilraba didn’t just play NJL she embodied her. She brought out every layer the princess elegance, the sharp intelligence, the emotional restraint, the internal storms she hides behind her regal posture. She gave NJL color, texture, breath. This role proved once again that she’s not just a pretty face she’s a force of nature when given a character with depth.
YT, meanwhile, felt like the perfect counterpart to her. Their chemistry is natural, unforced the kind that doesn’t need dramatic declarations to be felt. CXX acted the role with precision, giving YT the subtle masculinity, quiet strength, and emotional maturity needed to match NJL’s fire without dimming it.
LXR was deliciously wicked every smile had a blade behind it. XH was comedy gold; the man’s expressions alone could carry a whole episode. Haha.. his reaction to discovering NJL was the nanshen hunter still cracks me up. XS yes, controversial, but his motives came from loyalty, not malice, so don't hate him too much. YR came in like the badass she was meant to be. LX was the lovable, necessary chaos in the Wei Yu stories, and the rest of the supporting cast FM, uncle jiang, and everyone did so well that there were no weak links.
Watching this drama felt… satisfying. Deeply, aesthetically, emotionally satisfying.
To anyone still hesitating if you're into suspense, thriller, rich worldbuilding, and romance that sneaks under your skin, then this drama is absolutely worth your time. Don’t let random unfair ratings fool you this show is a gem, crafted with care, talent, and a cast that delivered beyond expectations.
A masterpiece isn’t always loud, sometimes it’s just consistently excellent. This drama is exactly that.

the love/hate reviews
Its a hate/love kind of feeling.I get why there's so many mixed reviews about this drama, some of it I loved, some of it really annoyed me. I felt so frustrated at some points but then it warmed my heart other times. The characters were really immature (especially the FL lord help me) and the communication between them was terrible. It put a dampener on their chemistry because It was so needlessly frustrating at times. The plot had holes everywhere but I tried not to poke at them, just watch this lovely drama with a blank mind and a forgiving soul.
Byeon Woo Seok did an incredible job as an actor and a performer. It was a fun and sweet drama, Overall I would still recommend it and the music/soundtrack is great!

I will devour them
Being fairly new to the world of J-Drama, I have noticed that the plots sometimes have very convenient resolutions or unrealistic scenarios. Some of the scams seem too illogical to be believable. Buying an abandoned building at a high price without even checking the building. Setting up shell companies to launder funds or execute M&A. So you suspend your disbelief for the sake of entertainment. The one guy who saves the series is Sho. I don’t care that he is a pop star. I don’t care that he has 4.7m followers on IG. His acting is so perfect for this role. He plays a 21yo swindler and does so with street cred and panache. His outfits are so fine and he is super easy on the eyes. I hope he continues to choose good scripts for his future shows. It will be a waste if he takes on a lousy script. Was this review helpful to you?
Average drama
It started off pretty good, but quickly lost its spark and dragged on far too long for a 16-episode run. The romance just came out of nowhere and there was zero chemistry, honestly. The second leads were way more interesting than the main couple. Overall… probably better to skip this one.Was this review helpful to you?
Don’t be fooled with the low ratings!
As someone who’s been watching K-dramas since 2010, I truly feel MDL’s ratings for this series are unjustified. The story is engaging and surprisingly thoughtful, and the pacing keeps you hooked without ever feeling dragged out. The casting is absolutely perfect, and the performances were so strong that I genuinely found myself angry at the antagonists. Suzy’s acting is truly best actress worthy (IMO). Every character feels purposeful, and the chemistry between the leads is natural and believable. It’s a solid, well-made drama that deserves more appreciation, and people should definitely give it a chance instead of relying solely on the ratings. ❤️Was this review helpful to you?
Thank you to the screenwriter Kwon Do Eun.
I am watching "Search www," it had never happened to me before, but I felt the need to learn more about the screenwriter. Thank you for these refreshing and innovative dialogues, thank you for the role of the protagonist, and thank you for this wonderful twist to a drama that represents the woman of this century. These inspiring dialogues are not easy to find, and I am enjoying them in every episode. Please, keep writing the way you do. I wish you all the best. Here's to much success, and for me to be able to enjoy it as well. Thank you.Was this review helpful to you?
