I wanted more romance in this revenge tale

I am a fan of Sheng Yi Jie and Wang Chen Peng. This is their second collaboration although I haven't watched the first collab, I was excited for this drama. I watched it the same day of its release and had mixed feelings about it.

What I liked:
1. Opening - I loved watching FL being a seductress.
2. Plot - Wow I didn't expect a revenge tale to go big like this. I liked the plot twist reveal at the grave. Refreshing.
3. FL characterisation - Her mission was clear. I liked that she recruited her trusted allies in enacting revenge.
4. Styling - FL's outfits were beautiful. My favourite is the white business suit she wore at the start as it complemented her body shape. I also loved ML's outfits. Wang Chen Peng looked dapper in the grey suit.
5. Supporting characters - The gang of butler, makeup artist, fashion designer & dietitian.
6. ML characterisation - I liked his other identity - he was not an idle rich man.
7. Dynamics - I loved the seduction scenes and the kisses as it created enough sexual tension between FL and ML and between FL and SML.

What I disliked:
1. Antagonists - Wow, the male antagonist was a different kind of villain. Female antagonist was a bitch. Both were unethical & unlawful.
2. FL's action - I felt FL should have gone for partnership with ML once the video reveal backfired.
3. Romance - It was rather one-sided with ML clearly attracted to FL while FL was focused on her goal. I wanted FL to desire ML.

Favourite scene
The dance by the pool

fantastic chemistry that is gonna make your heartflutter

i absolutely love both leads. their acting was impressive. chen jin ke showed amazing micro-expressions (esp his brows, deserves a fandom of its own) and sun zhen ni portrayed so many emotions with just her eyes, and i love seeing them together. absolutely love their dynamic, their progress from enemies to lovers (somewhat) was certainly the cherry on top. seeing their cat and dog disagreements when their fragile bond was still developing to their lighthearted banters when they were already a couple was definitely fun to watch.

the fact that they both traveled back in time makes it even better. i suppose i was anticipating the reveal to be made much earlier so that they can depend on each other with their knowledge of the future and become such a power couple. but then, the delay does work in its own way to deliver the intended storyline and make them face more individual growth that way. yes, there were unneeded setbacks because of it and i would say its typical for a drama to add some level of drama to a smooth sailing plot. however, it worked out naturally to strengthen their bond and the argument was a completely normal irrational human reaction for people in love, and they didn't escalate it for ridiculously too long which i appreciate.

the ending could have been better and it is pretty obvious how everyone reviewing was rather threw off because of the last 10 minutes of the drama and set the ratings very low for this despite initially wanting to give an almost perfect rating. i am disappointed with the ending myself, but i must say it could have been worse and i'm glad it wasn't as bad.

there was a chance of them making lin zhi hua never part of the journey and it was all just a dream for her Alone. and i would say that kind of ending would have been even more horrible, i would've hated this drama to the ground. the fact that he still retains the same memories as she does shows that the dream was maybe perhaps an actually reality that did exist for both of them.

as much as she felt lonely waking up from a dream where she lost all the accomplishments and connections she built up, it would have been far more devastating to know that it was all just a dream and the very person who was right there to experience and build it up with her, was never part of the journey to begin with and treats her coldly like a stranger with no attachments. that, would have been horrid had they decided to take that route for the ending.

yes, i hated that all the effort they put thru in their second life has all but vanished. i hate endings where "it was all just a dream" bc it makes all the journey come down to nothing but one person's fantasy. all the people that were able to make different choices and become better people. their family, friendships, financial, academic, and business problems, all of those that they were able to overcome in the second timeline has been reduced to nothing.

but i believe the writer intended to emphasis that these two lovers were fated for each other regardless in whichever timeline they're in. they were able to persevere so much together in the second change timeline. sure enough, they're gonna be able to persevere more together in the original timeline.

like what zhi hua told xue jiao in the last episode, "i can create another company ten thousand times. but you're one of a kind." emphasising that whatever troubles that comes my way, it doesn't matter as long as i have you with me. it can be assumed that is why he left the company after waking up from the elevator coma. it was already infested with too many 'bugs' and right now, he needs to reset and start back from scratch.

perhaps there is a possibility that all of them can have their character developments in the original timeline, albeit much later in life and after creating even more problems for the people around them. but i assume that is the intended message with the final scene showing shi yun and ming ze meeting each other again, where shi yun is the one going after ming ze instead. hints at an open ending that change is possible, even in the original timeline.

[found out that there was censorship towards the time travel genre as it disrespects history and promotes superstition. so i think i can understand now why the ending was the way it is. however, it does give me the perspective that the author intended the story to end differently and it only turned out this way because of the ban which is unfortunate. great story though, but could've been better.]

Wonderfully written fantasy drama about revenge, partnership & power struggle

I was in the mood for supernatural themed mini drama last month because of Halloween. I came across this title online somewhere but was dismayed when youtube link was region-locked. However the weekend before Halloween there was another link made available. I was delighted & watched it two days before Halloween. I enjoyed this mini drama very much.

What I liked:
1. Fantasy - I loved the wood soul concept. I also liked the “vampire” concept was done in atypical way. VFX was done well.
2. Main characters - I liked that the three main characters (including ML's nephew) were morally ambiguous. I also liked that they didn't not fully trust each other.
3. Action - Amazing fighting sequences. I liked that FL was able to fight baddies even when her wood soul wasn't fully unleashed - she was not a damsel in distress.
4. Writing - Refreshing take on power struggle. I couldn't tell what was going to happen next. I also didn't expect the comedy bits.
5. Acting - Good performances by the cast. Ye Sheng Jia has improved a lot since Fortune Hunter. Xu Zhen Zhen did much better here than Enslaved by Love.
6. Styling - Beautiful outfits worn by the cast. I also liked that ML's bathrobes - great display of abs.
7. Family - Family is the core theme. There were 2 dysfunctional families.
8. Supporting characters - I loved Cheng Qi even though he didn't have much screentime. ML's subordinate & FL's servant were good characters too.

What I disliked:
1. Antagonist - Evil. Greedy.
2. Chemistry - I wish both YSJ & XZZ had upped their on-screen chemistry so the romantic scenes (even without kissing) felt fiery & warm.

Favourite scene
When FL stroke a partnership deal with ML

Entertaining

It's a good/entertaining storyline and like most costume C dramas it has pretty much everything, i.e. court intrigue, politics, excellent fighting scenes, scheming bad guys, good guys winning, love and attraction between beautiful male and female leads, wedding, happy ending. It's not a completely unique storyline but I was entertained. However, at times I was a little bit confused as most of the "elders/parents" actors all look a like and hard to distinguish whom are who. Same with the plots, too confusing because of the similarities of the characters and their looks. In any case, great job crew! Thanks for the great entertainment.

FATED HEARTS ❤️❤️POWER COUPLE

SECOND CHANCE – MAKING RIGHT CHOICES... 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️

*This drama is definitely a good watch with strong leads, an intriguing story, and perfect execution. The slow-paced romance with some political drama keeps one hooked till the end.

*I really liked the FL. She is smart, supportive, and independent. She knows how to handle her own problems and always keeps the ML in check.😍😍

*The ML is the best companion one could wish for. He is kind-hearted, passionate, and loyal. But he is impulsive. He lives in his lonely world and yearns for a family.😻😻

*ML and FL together are a power couple. They trust each other, communicate well, and are fated for each other. Both ML and FL come from broken families and suffered from betrayals, but they kept healing each other. The FL teaches the ML to be patient and prevents him from taking impulsive decisions that could lead to his downfall. They fulfill the promises they made to each other.❤️❤️

*When life gives a second chance, grab the opportunity to make the right choice so that justice is served and the world is at peace. The story depicted most men as scumbags. I think the story definitely gave justice to all. (KARMA IS A BOOMERANG).💯💯

*This story did show that no one is born evil. One harbors evil intentions because of the wrong choices they make.

*The scene that I particularly liked is the ending scene when the FL shoots the enemy and saves the ML. That was a badass scene.💀💀

*I also liked the grey-haired ML. He looked stunning.😍😍

OVERALL: WORTH WATCHING...😍🤩😍

Healing Hands, Wounded Hearts: The Legacy of Doldam Continues

Dr. Romantic Season 3 continues the emotional and heartfelt legacy of the Doldam Hospital universe, bringing back everything fans love intense surgeries, moral dilemmas, and deeply human stories. This season expands its world by introducing a military hospital collaboration, allowing the drama to explore new ethical conflicts and the ever-present question: What does it truly mean to be a doctor?

Kim Sabu (Han Suk Kyu) remains the heart of the story wise, stubborn, and endlessly compassionate mentoring a new generation while challenging his old students to rediscover their purpose. Seo Woo Jin (Ahn Hyo Seop) and Cha Eun Jae (Lee Sung Kyung) return stronger than ever, their chemistry more grounded and mature, reflecting how far they’ve come since Season 2.

The new characters add refreshing energy, blending personal growth arcs with powerful emotional beats. The medical scenes are gripping as always perfectly balancing adrenaline-pumping operations with quiet, reflective moments that remind viewers why Doldam isn’t just a hospital; it’s a home for broken souls trying to heal others while healing themselves.

Beautifully shot, tightly written, and emotionally resonant, Dr. Romantic 3 proves that the series still has a strong pulse. It’s not just about saving lives it’s about living with purpose, integrity, and heart.

A filler-feel sequel

Mob and his never-ending attempt to run away from the BL world will always be a fun and chaotic season. Yet, I am disappointed with the third season, as the age-gap story was the main contributing factor. I just didn’t like it.

As usual, the opening song was an icon. They retained the whole sing-and-dance trademark from previous seasons. I like it. The environment where you live, surrounded by BL couples everywhere you go, with their cliche romantic scenes, was absolutely a great atmosphere for a BL fan. They still bring out their signature dramatic and comedic execution, which makes me laugh a lot.

Toujou is so handsome, especially during the Halloween party EP. The composition of short little stories featuring different men in this sequel was half good and half bad. A few good stories were about the physical contact arc, the scent arc, and the cinderella arc. The rest was either average or lame.

I miss the old feeling of getting fascinated by Kikuchi’s character. Fortunately, he came back at the end, but faced a young man as his love rival for Mob’s heart. I want him to end up with Mob in the final season.

Nothing happens

Very underwhelming, nothing really happens in this drama. A lot of staring into space and weird long monologues that go nowhere. The characters don't really have normal character arcs, they are pretty much the same at the end that they were at the beginning. It almost feels like this drama doesn't want to reveal anything about these characters, to keep some artificial mystery up so you keep watching, but when it ended I still didn't have any idea of who these characters are, what are their passions, what drives them forward. Overall quite a boring nonstory.

Lessons Beyond the Scalpel— The Mentor Who Heals More Than Wounds

Dr. Romantic 2 carries forward the heartfelt legacy of its predecessor, proving once again that medical dramas can be both emotionally rich and deeply inspiring. This season welcomes new faces and stories, yet retains the same core — the passion, sincerity, and wisdom embodied by Kim Sabu. Han Suk Kyu once again delivers a powerhouse performance, grounding every scene with quiet intensity and compassion.

The new duo Seo Woo Jin (Ahn Hyo Seop) and Cha Eun Jae (Lee Sung Kyung) bring a fresh energy and contrast. Their chemistry starts off awkward yet evolves beautifully, showing how two flawed individuals can find strength in each other and rediscover purpose under Kim Sabu’s guidance. The dynamic between the trio mentor and mentees is what makes the series so emotionally rewarding.

Visually, Dr. Romantic 2 is stunning the surgical scenes are tense and well-directed, the hospital feels alive, and the OST perfectly amplifies the emotions. The writing shines in its ability to weave medical ethics, personal growth, and social realism into one cohesive narrative.

This season isn’t just about saving lives; it’s about rediscovering one’s belief in humanity, in medicine, and in oneself. It strikes a balance between heartwarming and heartbreaking moments, leaving you inspired long after the credits roll.

A powerful continuation that deepens the original’s spirit — Dr. Romantic 2 is heartfelt, mature, and beautifully human.

Ho Hum Less Mess Please!

I was all set to be entertained and immersed in yet another fine drama ….. but there the good ends. Such a twisted and utterly unlikable FL, I found myself disliking her intensely and as the story grew so did my dislike. She didn’t appeal to me at all, I liked neither the character nor the actress.

The ML I thought needed to grow up and thought him a bit wimpy against the FL. After five minutes into episode five, I’ve had it - that’s it! I’ve better things to watch than this ridiculous excuse for a show.

This is the worst series I’ve seen .

Good looking, worth watching for Wang Quan Fugui!

Wang Quan Arc upto 18 episodes and from 32-36 eps is a masterpiece. Fugui is an absolutely god tier male lead. I'm truly in awe of young master divinity.

Middle part for about 10 eps, male lead has less screen time. these 10 eps are filled with filler content from side characters.. With full of noise from spider siblings and other supporting characters (though supporting characters story line is better than siblings) with limited screen time for male lead...

Even with limited screen time male lead Wang Quan Fui said: Don't worry, don't worry. Finish yours, finish yours. Finish yours, finish yours. As long as I'm here, I'l definitely pull you all back to the main storyline. The whole cast and crew should bow to him, I'm serious, it's been so incredibly hard. The acting skills, anime like fight scenes, male lead relationship dynamic with his dad, brother and other supporting characters everything is great.. except for female lead as she abondended the main story line and male lead to be with her brother. Otherwise we would have seen classic ice king sunshine girl cp story which is what I wanted to see for so long as it's cheng yi's last bg drama. Heartbroken cp fan 💔.. Anyways i find her character and storyline inconsistent and nonsensical. Just this fl character alone ruined the masterpiece.

But this show is definitely worth watching for wang quan fugui. Especially last few episodes are absolutely explosive. If you don't like any parts that doesn't include male lead, you can fast forward it without affecting the main storyline. Just follow wang quan fugui.

Acting : 100/10 for cheng yi, cause It's not easy for the male lead to still be trying to push the main storyline while stuck in his own meager scenes. First time I have seen a drama so ridiculously dependent on lead actor alone. I thought it was 'save dad, then save my brother, save this one, then that one. Who would've thought he'd end up saving the audience? The moment he appeared and the camera panned to him that was all the motivation I needed to keep watching.

CP : For the first 18 episodes, the male and female leads share good chemistry. However, the director often focuses more on the female lead during their scenes together, which makes it harder to see how the male lead truly reacts to her. Still, he successfully conveys the “more than friends, less than lovers” dynamic.

After 18 eps, they were never together. Later fl became cold bitter constantly reminiscing his brother. So there's no romantic love between them. So don't compare it with love and redemption/ immortal samsara, as that one is pure love story.. this drama focuses on Wang Quan Fugui finding his own "dao". He possess great love for all beings and is shouldering two generations responsibility. both characters their responsibilities and situations are entirely different.

I really enjoyed this drama! I get why some people find the romance part a bit weird but personally I didn't. Sometimes in fiction you just have to not think too hard about these things. It wouldn't have been too different than if the male lead was some kind of immortal being (like a vampire) and was 70 while the female lead was in her 20s. I found the main couple cute and shipped them, though for me the best part of the show was the father-son relationship. It was a very interesting concept to explore, and I liked seeing how they navigated this unique experience.

More Than a Doctor: The Humanity Behind Dr. Romantic

It is not just a medical drama . it’s a deeply emotional and inspiring story about purpose, compassion, and rediscovering what it means to truly save lives. Set in the humble Doldam Hospital, far away from the glamour of big city medicine, the show captures the raw essence of being a doctor through its complex characters and heart-touching cases.

At the center is Kim Sabu (Han Suk-kyu), a genius yet unconventional surgeon whose wisdom and ideals guide everyone around him. His mentorship of Kang Dong-joo (Yoo Yeon-seok) and Yoon Seo-jung (Seo Hyun-jin) two young doctors driven by ambition but burdened by past regrets forms the emotional core of the series. Their journey from arrogance and self-doubt to empathy and purpose is beautifully written and powerfully acted.

The medical cases are intense, often mirroring real social issues and ethical dilemmas, while the storytelling blends tension, warmth, and moral reflection seamlessly. The cinematography and background score enhance the emotional depth, making every surgery and every quiet conversation equally compelling.

What truly sets Dr. Romantic apart is its heart. It doesn’t glorify medicine it humanizes it. It reminds viewers that healing isn’t just about skill; it’s about courage, kindness, and connection. By the end, you don’t just admire Kim Sabu as a doctor you respect him as a teacher and a symbol of integrity.

A masterpiece of storytelling and emotion, Dr. Romantic Season 1 is a must-watch that leaves you inspired and deeply moved a drama that heals your soul as much as it tells its story.

If you wanna get traumatized watch this

Ep 8 was THE MOST PAINFUL to watch... It doesn't exactly end happily, but it ends not too bad. Please release me from 1F haunting me in my nightmares! This kdrama really made me feel trauma. But it's probably because I'm a really sensitive person. THE STORY IS GREAT A TRUE UNDERRATED GEM!!! (maybe even better than squid game...?)
Why you may not like it:
People don't die. So it's seen as boring.
I read a bit of the webtoon "Money game" by Bae Jin Su, some characters were drawn TRAUMATIZINGLY. 😭
