Single’s Inferno S5 Was Chaos and That’s Why It Was Great

Single’s Inferno S5 was by far the most entertaining season so far. The female casting especially Mingee and Minasue was truly top-notch. Both of them have norm-breaking personalities and strong character, and they’re beautiful without fitting the typical “Korean beauty-bot” standard.

The new concepts this season were also a huge plus. The photoshoot challenge, especially forcing the other participants to watch, and the Truth Game were genuinely funny and entertaining. Minasue alone creating chaos everywhere brought S-class entertainment value to the show.

That said, Paradise dates were still boring as usual, the same luxury hotels, fancy food, and unnecessary pool scenes. The interactions between participants were interesting, but not because of Paradise. In fact, Inferno Island itself was more entertaining than Paradise.

I’d say the show really broke its own formula because of Mingee and Minasue, combined with the Truth Game and photoshoot challenges. As usual, mid-season participants lost their impact since they joined too late to matter.

Overall, the casting choices were perfect, and the new games were genuinely interesting, but the Paradise date concept is clearly losing its value. The show needs more challenges and stronger motivations to force participants to actually interact and date each other.

Didn't really like it

This is the kind of show you binge on a lazy weekend and have forgotten about by Tuesday.

Someone on Reddit described it as "a bit trashy, but high-quality trash", and I think that's the perfect summary. Scenes feel thrown together just so that the writers can move the plot ahead, with the result that there are many moments where it doesn't feel like the story is driving itself forward. It feels artificially steered.

I wish I could rate it higher for the two leading actors who do well with what they're given, but alas...

Exaggeration in a nutshell

I know some of these Verticals are too exaggerated in term of everything, acting, story, illogical things and of course all about rich unhinged behaviour.

But I had a blast watching this, the ridiculousness was a tad too much, in a cringe way but who said I'm not in for it lol.

I wanted to scream, so many times, at the 3 brothers, just do a freaking DNA test, mate it's literally the most logical idea to be sure someone is related to you or not, why complicating easy things.

But it's the typical Cinderella story so logic is thrown out the window, one thing I didn't like is the brother-sister thing, I mean it's obvious they are going to make them biologically unrelated to get them together by the end but I would like it more if the two leads were completely sure they are not related BEFORE actually developing feelings for each other cause aside from that, it's just .... Ewww!!

Anyway, it's not one of the best, or the ones that I would suggest, but if you are ok with over the top, unrealistic in a cringe way dramas and have too much hair on your head so pulling some out of anger would not be a great loss, then give this drama a shot ~~

A light-hearted series set in Republican Era

Fall in Love is about Tan Xuan Lin, a military commander, and Mu Wan Qing, the eldest daughter of a powerful businessman. They meet and end up helping each other by using their own resources and influence.

It’s a pretty light-hearted drama, but the plot is quite packed and engaging. I enjoyed it a lot, especially from the early episodes up to around episode 25. I also liked that Mu Wan Qing’s stepmother arc was resolved quite early on.

I really love the two main lead's characters. Tan Xuan Lin is very smart with his strategies and always thinks one step ahead, while Mu Wan Qing is just as sharp when it comes to business. Watching them work together, make deals, and use their own strengths is really satisfying. Their romance develops naturally and makes sense, and both lead actors did a great job.

That said, I wasn’t really into the romance subplots of the other characters, so I skipped a lot of those scenes. I also skipped most of the war arcs from the late 20s episodes until the end. The cinematography and costumes are okay and the music is fine too.

Overall, it’s still a very enjoyable drama, and the ending is pretty good

Love Between the Lines: A Masterclass in Romance and Depth

Love Between the Lines masterfully blurs the lines between illusion and reality, starting with Xiao Zhiyu (Chen Xingxu) and Hu Xiu (Lu Yuxiao) meeting in a Republic of China-themed murder mystery game. Assuming fake identities in fictional plots, they spark curiosity about each other's true selves—then fate draws them together in real life. Dual narratives unfold: one in the game's intrigue, the other in authentic encounters, building to a heartfelt exploration of true feelings amid deception and destiny.

What elevates it to near-perfection is the stellar cast. Chen Xingxu brings brooding intensity and tenderness to Xiao Zhiyu, while Lu Yuxiao infuses Hu Xiu with spirited charm and depth, their chemistry electric across both worlds. Special appreciation goes to Li Tingting as the second female lead, who steals scenes with her resilient, multifaceted portrayal—poised yet raw, witty yet wounded. She adds emotional layers that linger, proving her powerhouse status in C-dramas.

Supporting roles are impeccable, enhancing the tension. Production shines with lush visuals, a swoon-worthy OST, and pacing that flies through 28 addictive episodes. Minor mid-story dips are forgiven in this brilliant interplay of game and reality.

If you love clever romance with mystery twists, this is essential viewing. Highly recommended!

A drama about Healing & Character Growth - not Fangirling or Crime Investigation

Subjective Gut Rating: 8.25

To fully enjoy “Idol I”, it’s important to set your expectations and know what type of drama this is. Otherwise, you might be disappointed.

What type of drama is “Idol I”?
** To me, it’s a drama about character growth and development, healing and closure for our main leads.

What “Idol I” is not -
- Murder mystery or Crime investigation drama
- Law drama
- Idol or Fangirling drama
These elements are presented in the drama, but they serve as a plot device for us to get to know our leads and to follow their journey to happiness.

What I Like:

1. Do Ra Ik (ML) - It’s nice to see male lead who is not afraid to show his emotions (the good, bad, and ugly). Oftentimes, softer MLs are depicted as naive and innocent and just weak. But Do Ik isn’t like that. He just can’t hide his feelings. Once he’s off the stage, he will show his emotions honestly to everyone. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s played by the very handsome and charismatic Kim Jae Yeong. His acting is fabulous and when he’s suffering, I felt his pain. He might have cried a little too much in the first few episodes, but for good reasons.

2. Acting - Not only is Kim Jae Yeong breaking my heart and making me smile, Choi Soo Young performed equally well. Without their excellent performance, I probably would not have rated this drama as high. The supporting cast is just as impressive. I wanted to see more of Jung Jae Kwang (Prosecutor Kwak) and Choi Hee Jin also did well as the ex-gf. Of course, we have veterans such as Kim Won Hae who never disappoint.

3. Romance - The romance might not be front and center, and there aren’t many cute and fluffy scenes compared to a normal rom-com, but the chemistry is evident. Even though romance doesn’t start till later, there are plenty of scenes of the leads together for them to get to know each other. The romance feels naturally developed and though few, the kisses are fabulous. I won’t lie, I wish there are more hot kisses and a few more cute scenes. But I am satisfied.

4. OST - I love all the songs in the drama. I don’t really have much to say, but whenever a song played, I thought to myself, “this song is lovely”. I’m happy to see that Kim Jae Young actually sang the song “It’s Me”. It has a very Japanese feel to it and his voice is nice. I also like the title song “Echoes of You”. It’s the perfect song to be sung in concerts with fans singing along. It’s a happy, fangirling song. There are a few slower, beautiful ballads as well, such as “Stay Closely”.

What I have Mixed Feelings:

1. Plot - Despite liking the healing and character growth of the drama, I can’t help but feel a little disappointed that the law/crime investigation storylines are not integrated well into the drama. I wanted to see more bickering and trash talking between the two attorneys, FL and Prosecutor Kwak. I was hoping for some court scenes and see them fight, because they have really good chemistry with the few scenes together. The drama also didn’t do much in the crime investigation either. The last episode is unable to really tie all the loose ends. The drama tries, but it feels rushed and incomplete, especially in regards to the real murderer, the management company and ML’s mother.

2. Murderer - On the one hand, I was surprised to find out who the murderer is. So, that’s a positive for me. Unfortunately, the real reason for the murder is very anti-climatic. The aftermath was glossed over because it has nothing to do with ML anymore. With such a big part focusing on the death of the team member, this feels like a let down.

3. Re-trial - The pursuit of the re-trial is going to happen, and I have no doubt about. That is a big part of FL’s story. However, how it was presented and executed did not make it seem important at all. I would have liked to see the drama slowly integrate elements of FL’s father story, instead of just a few flashbacks of him claiming innocence. Maybe I was asking for too much, since as I said, the focus of the drama is not crime investigation.

Despite my criticisms, I had a great time binging the drama. I really enjoy watching the leads growth story and healing of each other. I like their acting, their characters and their journeys. This is the primary reason why I am rating it an 8.25 and not less than 8.0. If I am a serious investigation/crime fanatic, this would be an absolute disappointment.

Not a bad series, but a bit underdeveloped and rushed.

When you have 3 couples, some conflicts to solve, and villains to deal with within 18 episodes and 45 min runtime for each episode, the outcome would be either underwhelming or rushed or a mix of both. While this series is not exactly bad, it lands somewhere between underdeveloped and rushed.

As Mik and Pinkploy's first full series together, Beauty Reborn shows promise. I’ve been looking forward to seeing them together ever since their brief scene in “Warden of the Sky.” While Mik-Pinkploy have good chemistry, it’s a bit overshadowed by the lack of development in their characters and relationship. Plus, the relationship development for the other couples (Nam-Baicha and Wayo-Sarach) feels a bit rushed, missing the depth and complexity that would really draw you in. If only they explored their dynamic more properly, this series could really shine.

There's also a significant improvement in terms of production quality. Compared to Ch7’s 2022-2023 series, I’d say this series shows a more polished look and quality. But in terms of story, the title seems to imply a transformation theme, but the actual plot seems to stray a bit from that expectation. It focused more on the political issues within the company, which kind of leaves the overall story feeling a bit underwhelming.

Overall, Beauty Reborn is a decent drama with noticeable shortcomings that prevent it from reaching its full potential. Sure, it has its ups and downs, but I found it pretty enjoyable. Honestly, I like this series for its unique approach, especially now that Ch7 is more open to including LGBTQ+ couples/stories. Unlike many Ch7 dramas that rely heavily on intense conflict and over-the-top villains, Beauty Reborn finds a nice middle ground that is neither too intense nor too lackluster. The conflicts are typical but not too much to handle, so you won’t get a headache from all the heavy plots.

For the hopeless romantic who craves a little too much fluff

Watching this made me realize that even a show designed to be consumed with your brain turned off still requires a certain level of skill to navigate the overly saturated romance genre.

This series isn’t meant to be taken seriously. So, if you’re looking for depth, lasting impact, or a love story filled with beautiful rhetoric, symbolism, and life lessons—this isn’t it. But for romantics like me, who occasionally crave an easy watch after a streak of series that either don’t suit my taste or are just plain bad, and still want that feel-good rush (the butterflies, the giddy “kick your feet in the air” kind of feel), then this ticks all the boxes.

Of course, there are things I don’t like: the ML being way too thirsty, ready to devour the FL at every chance (to the point where she looks like she’s about to snap her neck from all the aggressive kissing,—though this is more of a personal preference thing I think); things that don’t make sense realistically (but again, this isn’t meant to be taken seriously); and parts that could’ve been written better (like the SML and SFL romance and progression). Still, at the end of the day, this is something I truly enjoyed and something I looked forward to after a long day.

It’s like indulging a midnight craving: not necessarily good, but satisfying and comforting all the same.

When it comes to romance, the writer clearly knows what they’re doing. The cast has great chemistry, too. And the OST? Absolutely beautiful. I’ve been playing it non-stop, actually!

Chaotic nonsense I loved

I loved it. It's hard to say why, but I eagerly waited for every episode.

The plot was chaotic. I had the feeling they brainstormed weird ideas and never made a choice but used them all, throwing together whatever they came up with.
Strangely, it worked!

The storyline didn't really make sense. Things happened, just because.
One example: Wen you think you understood, suddenly a dragon - a western dragon - appears. Why? We won't know. What exactly is this bond shared between the ren and their pets? We won't learn much about it, but it's strong. Why and how did they force the ML into the bond? Not important. What happens to the dragon? Well, it's somewhere. Does it add to the plot? Not in the slighest. But we have a dragon!

The chemistry between all leads, on the other hand, is fire!
Both ML are awesome, their relationship is what I loved the most, their suppressed hate and grudges, that part was truly good. And their respective smirks, I could watch them smirk all day long.
The FL had great chemistry with all of them but in the end I just wanted to slap her. Why wouldn't she accept XXX? With all her brother put him through?

The OST was just as strange. Between really good and not at all adapted to the scenes, childish one second, sensual the next, it was just as the whole plot.

Special mention goes to the kissing-scenes. It must be the short-drama with the most kissing-scenes.

So is it a "good drama"? I wouldn't say that.
Is it worth watching? Absolutely. You'll love it!

Wannabe revenge drama

This was a rewatch and I will not advise doing this. This was the most annoying “revenge” drama ever. As usual we had 7.5 episodes of the villain winning and 10minutes to get the revenge and get the happily ever after🙄. The characters had no chemistry and the plot was so unbelievable. So her husband cheated and was ready to leave her and her daughter for the villain but she wanted to avenge him. Let’s not talk about her embarking on a revenge with no plan or common sense in place.
I will just stop here because this is more of a rant than a review.

Starts out Quirky & evolves into convoluted confusion I did not find likeable

So despite all the negative things I will say about this drama, I did find it entertaining until 3/4 way through episode 6-where it stopped being novel & cute & interesting. here's why:
The female lead is not only needy, but can't restrain herself from constantly doing cringy, obsessive things. She won't accept rejection but then sabotages herself when she finally gets positive reactions to her efforts . The guys are supposedly attracted to her sunny disposition, but "sunny" does not really showing up all that often.
The male lead's default face is "bemused" & the rest of the time his expressions seem out of sync with what's going on.
By the middle of episode 6 I got annoyed & disgusted with the story line as the lead's feelings for each other get sabotaged by themselves .

Up to this point we have a guy who likes his calm well ordered life and keeps trying to keep the looney chaos bringer out by communicating clearly that he does not want her in his life.
The writers want us to see this as a "screwball comedy" as they give us a female lead who fluctuates between selfish demanding persistent to damsel in distress "cuckoo for cocoa puffs" debby downer.
So despite all the negative things I will say about this drama, I did find it entertaining until 3/4 way through episode 6-where it stopped being novel & cute & interesting. here's why:

The male lead's default face is "bemused" & the rest of the time his expressions seem out of sync with what's going on.
By the middle of episode 6 I got annoyed & disgusted with the story line as the lead's feelings for each other get sabotaged by themselves (?) It seems the explanation for why this happened & keeps happening is convoluted & confusing.
So into the middle of Episode 7, things even out, (which didn't make sense ) but then suddenly we are given yet another detour ,So frustrating ! Really a whole lot of drama zig zags around spastically
with build up to what could be meaningful moments that just get ice water dumped on them. My interest is strained it's just not satisfying .Whatever charm kept me watching has has worn off. I know there is a happy ending, but there is so much about the plot & a good many characters that I don't like, that I don't think it's worth it.

The plot jerking me around is super annoying.....
SO I do the thing I feel driven to; skim through the next episode trying to find an indication that this feeling of discontent won't last, & then I find myself skimming through the next two episodes because what little I've seen is even less appealing & disappointing.
so spoilers as to why I'm dropping this, & hacking my once rating of 6/10 to a 3/10
Female lead is schizophrenic- due to some trauma she had as a child-which might be interesting, but she's playing around with the male lead & second male lead's hearts & they are rightly confused. It's not all that amusing. Her kissing two men does not "sell" you on her sincerity for one man in the end.(I mean ,if her subconscious prefers another guy, or she simply likes being promiscuous, then how much do we trust what she thinks are true feelings ?).
That both male lead & 2nd male lead find her fascinating is inconceivable, it certainly didn't convince me & it's sad & pathetic watching them care about her.(anyone who ends up with her will be miserable & that's on them!)
Female lead's manager has some heart fluttering moments with his girlfriend, but she's yet another woman not worth the time, but at least HE knows how to deal with things (grab & kiss solves things every time !)
It doesn't seem fair that the second male lead gets strung along only to open his heart to being rejected. It also feels sad knowing that the male lead will end up choosing a girl that will be a pain in the butt for as long as they are together...are we supposed to be happy for them ? These are bad romances & not worth the time

Slow and Ridiculous

Oh dear! A lot of the time, I had to play this at 1.25 speed - very repetitive and slow.
Pooh's haircut, to make him appear young and innocent was really bad, and just succeeded in making him look silly..
However, his adenoidal voice was much better than in PitBabe - up until he was crying over Pavel in the hospital bed.
I liked a lot of the support actors (from Pit Babe, too).
But, this was pretty bad, and not up to PavelPooh's standard..

Being scammed by the premises.

I watched this drama on December 2025 and the plots reminds me of Nakuna Hara Chan (2013) but with the difference ML that FL created was more aggressive but i feel the premises was not being well-executed and the plot was disjointed. Its normal if average watcher will be confused. It feels like i was being scammed by drama premises. There is no emotional moment in this drama. It feels so flat.

The earlier plot can be seen as the FL losing her memory due to an accident and forgetting the ML her muse. Her amnesia is related the death of one of her parents ML in another universe was angry why he was being abandoned by FL. This constant tugging between ML and FL was annoying. ML claims to be seeking revenge, but he's completely love-struck, constantly creating an environment that makes ML and FL feel like they're having an affair.

SML was initially okay, but to moralize the main couple's relationship, he was forced into scenes of cheating and neglecting the FL, causing the character settings and actions to contradict each other, severely impacting the story's flow and giving the impression that the acting was just for the sake of the plot—very jarring.

Personally not a fans of Cheng Zi-Li Meng Ran pair but the chemistry in this drama was so unbearable to watch.
Perhaps hardcore fans could enjoy this drama but i am being scammed by the premises, i am not enjoying this drama.

A breath of fresh air

Honestly a breath of fresh air! I don't usually watch these type of dramas but I stumbled a scene of the main female actress on tiktok and decided to give it a try, ONLY TO LEARN LATER THAT ITS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DRAMA. Bruh.

I don't regret watching it tho since this one has a really good premise about a drawing club of different people of different ages with the same likings. This is kind of like Blue period which is an anime about drawing as well. This was such a unique drama and I really loved it. Although I'd say that I kinda expected more drama to come about on the FMC's family and the ending was kind of rushed a little bit as well. It looked like their family issue was deeper but then at the end they just kinda reconciled? and everything worked out. Probably my only gripe on this drama although ig its kinda natural since its kind of more a slice of life drama with romance in it.

But overall still a really good watch! Definitely recommend! 9/10.

Different version, same heart break

I've finally came around to watchin this one. Scarlet Heart Ryeo is one of my most favorite kdramas ever and when I learned it was a remake from a chinese drama, I wanted to watch it immediately. However, like Thanos said, "Reality is often disappointing". I didn't really like it when I tried to watch the first episode of it but maybe it was just me not being used to how Cdramas are made, the bald heads also didn't help lol and at that time I haven't really watched any Cdramas. Fast forward to 2025, I started watching Cdramas and now 2026, decided to give Scarlet heart another try again and boy It did not disappoint.

I've really enjoyed this drama, I think the acting was great, the writing was awesome, and the overall execution is pretty good enough considering this was an old drama and that most cdramas can be usually disappointing. The Main Female Actress really did a great job. She's so good and with visuals to pair as well. The others really did great as well but I think she stands out the most for me.

Although, I have many praises for this, I can't help but compare it with the Kdrama version. I'm gonna be honest, I think korean version is still the best one for me. Not because its the first I watched but rather its just ahead of mostly everything whether it be the music, cinematography, writing, direction, acting etc. (I'll be honest tho, actress for Rouxi did way better than compared to Haesoo). I think one of the things that I didn't really like on this chinese original is that a lot of the characters didn't really have much of a motivation driving behind them than just competing for the throne. The 4th prince for example, idk why he's unfavored by their mother, there really wasn't a reason for it but in the kdrama version, there is a reason for it. Also I liked the 8th prince in the kdrama version more as well because when they introduced the 8th in the chinese version, he only looked like a creep, idk if its just me. In the kdrama version, Ig the way they did 8th and the fmc's love story was just more natural.

There are more things that I think could be better but overall a really good cdrama, 9/10.

PS: WHERE IS MY SCARLET HEART RYEO SEASON 2!!! SBS PLEASE, I NEED THIS!!!
