Xu Kai and the Cats

Likes
1. Somehow i always end up watching esports themed drama even though i'm not a fan of esports. But i appreciated the esports players after watching this drama. Didnt realize they also do a lot of trainings. I just thought they were naturally talented.
2.I liked getting a peek into the good and bad sides of the industry. I think it's the same as with showbiz where fans, rumors and fake news can make or break you. Fans dont own the players and we should respect them and their personal lives.
2. i like the ZGDX team and their friendship. Accepting Tong Yao as the only female player in the team. They also fight and argue a lot but they all grow and learn better.
3. I also liked that they showed the different teams and their sportsmanship with one another. The ending when Tong Yao won the championship and everyone (not just ZDGX) was cheering and praising her skills.
4. I found the romance cute from the first time they met until they got together around ep 21 or 22. One of the cutest confession scene when the kitty came out of Cheng's jacket, and Tong Yao was so happy she hugged Cheng. (I would have done the same 😁)

Dislikes
1. Got bored starting ep 23 and was fast forwarding to finish. I didnt like the forced issue with Cheng as the captain.
2. Wanted Tong Yao to be more responsive during the kiss scenes. She always looked wide eyed and wasn't playful like Cheng. So it felt like Cheng liked her more than she did and the kissing didnt look natural.

Rating: 8/10

A drama i wanted to see as why it is was being all hyped about

From where to begin...lets say this is a drama i just wanted to see because other people were talking about it...i got most notification about this drama and not to mention some kind issue also happened relation to this drama (idk)

I just wanted to try...this was slap to my face as i judge the book by its cover....i was addicted...i was engrossed fulltime when they had a fight or something and the visual of the video game they showed was like damn......They did very good job of having and showing good visuls to us.....

Now the story....sweet...cute and this maybe like the not first female lead but a female lead who is sassy and is able to reply back to male leads to teasing even though being shy and all...you will know if you will see the drama and some may know if they have watched it. The story come to think of it is very simple how the accepted the new mid solo and then build their teamwork to friendship to whether if they will the championship.
The writer and director did a good job of showing the journey of it....it wasnt draggy nor its was too short...it was for right amount. Sometimes we feel that how come they fell in love fast and all...but tbh love doesnt come by having time limit something.....friendship among the memebers was adorable...friendship of all the teams in the drama was admirable and their passion for esports.
One thing i liked the most was they involved everyone till last episode be it a team loosing and disbanding how that person felt and everything. This drama was not all about ML and FL but of every single person who were casted. They showed everyone scene and made it look like wholesome drama...where you will be satisfied with each character at then end.

Now the cast, at first my rating was going to 9 as i thought FL wasnt that comfortable or just off in 1st ep something...dont attack me now...after i was binging the series and secluded from the real world and transferred to the drama realm...i saw the behind the scenes video and whole drama....i adore them so much now like they are so comfortable around each other thats why reel their character couple is so cute....and the cast are comfortable around each other and they are hilarious tbh and i feel the director would have the teacher controllling the naughty students😂😂😂😂

The music i liked it very much.....Now comes the rewatch value...i know after praising it alot...i gave 8.5 coz im waiting or want to k ow if there will be a season 2 as the ending was open...it can happen or not...so whenever if i binge it again i will reminded of that. But i will definatly will cuteness overloaded scenes of these couple.....and the friendship in this drama.

Overall this drama is worth watching....light drama with no heavy melodrama....will keep your brain light, excited, antiscipated and just feeling good. I liked it. I hope you all like it too.

Falling into Another Midtrap

The story had a lot of good plots. The cats are cute, the guys and girls are cute. There are a lot of sweet moment, kisses, etc.

The thing I could not stand was the lead actress. She was so stiff the whole time. Super annoying to me. I tried to look at her from different ways, but I very much disliked whatever personality she was trying to play. I've never seen her in anything else so I'm not sure how she is as an actress in general.

I really struggled to get through it. No hate to anyone who likes it. I watched it not knowing what to expect, but it was not for me at all. I didn't drop it mostly to find out how it ended.

A cute and fluffy romance with e-sports background noise

At its core, this show is pretty much just a fluffy romance. The setting chosen for it to play out is a high-performing e-sports team, which recruits apparently the first female player ever in the industry.

Tong Yao, to her credit, takes her job seriously and knows what she represents. I always find it fun to see a strong female character defy stereotypes and take on a male-dominated field. It’s fun to watch her relationship with her team and love interest grow, as they go through victories and setbacks together. It’s not too overdone or sappy either, just cute.

I do feel the show gets a little worse after the two of them get together, a little over halfway in. The ML kind of turns into a total sap for her, and it made me like and respect him less; I feel people should care about things beyond their latest relationship infatuation. I’m also not that interested in seeing various examples of how much he likes her. (Also, who goes straight from sobbing uncontrollably to making out?)

A lot of the conflicts that the characters deal with come from the glow of celebrity, and I enjoyed seeing the “lives of celebrities” from the back like this. We may all know intellectually that being a celebrity is not actually that much fun, but it’s a good reminder to see that fame and glory come with a price.

The show also has some great side characters, such as the other members of the team. I was disappointed by the amount of development they got, though. For example, K gets one story arc devoted to him and it lasts less than an episode. It’s too bad that the side characters are given lovable personalities and just enough development to make you care, then get ignored for long blocks at a time. There are also two very cute cats, and I also wish we saw them more.

My favorite part of this show might be seeing the e-sports in action. I didn’t know much about this field before, so I was really interested to see how the system works. The game they’re playing seems similar to League of Legends. Although the show received criticism from Chinese viewers for inaccurate portrayals of the e-sport world (namely not taking it seriously enough), as somebody who didn’t know anything about it before, I still enjoyed this bit of exposure and getting an idea of what it’s about.

But e-sports and its culture, celebrity life, and lovable side characters aside, for better or worse the main focus of the show seems to be the two leads and their relationship. I’m not a huge romance buff and while I enjoyed watching their push and pull as they get together, I started to get a little sick of their romance after awhile.

The acting is ok. Chen Xiao as Tong Yao doesn’t have many expressions, but it might just be her character. I was legit horrified by her nails, though. She is a professional gamer- sure, she can push keys with such long nails (they even show it!) but I can’t imagine it’s doing her any favors. If you are going to show a profession, you should take it seriously.

As for the other production, this was the first Cdrama I watched as an adult, so I was a bit thrown off by the face filters and the dubbing. Her mom with the smooth face was kind of creepy. I might be less horrified if I watched it again now.

There are also some animated sequences acting out the game they’re playing. I think these serve a purpose in conveying the passage of time spent playing the game, in a way that feels action-packed and exciting. But in and of themselves the scenes are hard to follow and don’t contribute to the story.

Overall, this is a cute little romance with a fun setting. Not everything is perfect, but it’s a light watch that generally leaves you feeling good.

ENDING – READ AHEAD ONLY IF YOU WANT TO KNOW, CONTAINS SPOILERS

The ending is alright. They win the championships, and although there isn’t really any view of their lives after this, it’s not hard to imagine that they just keep on doing their thing. I wasn’t exactly satisfied, but it’s not too bad; I feel the show isn’t set up to need a grand tie-up or closure since it’s more slice-of-life.

Chanting for a Season 2!

I loved this drama so much!
I am really into the Chinese dramas that have been recently released about e-sports and this one was no exception, I really enjoyed it.
I liked the storyline, the chemistry between the main characters, and the teammates that surrounded them. I know many real esports fans have complained that this is an unrealistic portrayal of the Industry, but take it with a grain of salt because that’s what this is- a drama, romanticization of the industry.
I really enjoyed Xu Kai and Chen’s Xiao as leads together, I think they did a great job and I hope to see them work together again (in other dramas or a season 2, hehe) fighting!

my favorite drama of all time

as i said in every review i’ve ever written, cliches are my thing.

this drama simply delivered everything i wanted. healthy relationship? yes. protector ML? we have it. a bad ass best friend? absolutely. fun work space? of course. so cute it’s cringe? no doubts. nice parenting? yes. and we still have a lot of really cool 3d fights.

if you are thinking “is this drama worth watching?” the answer is YES, it’s light, soft, fun, entertaining and healthy.

i didn’t want to mention how xu kai is like all the other reviews, but it’s impossible. he is just to handsome. that it.

my favorite drama of all time.

Get Ready to watch it 800 times.

Its not matter you are young or old, If you have a moist heart & wanna fuel it pls watch it. ❤️ This one was my 1st Seen Chinese drama and its really encounter me. Onece you start you can't resist you to watch till last EP. But pls don't do that, bcz you may also cry for its early ending. You will feel the romance, sad, tension and all human feelings right there, after your screen.
I must learn Chinese language to over it twice as i believe subtitles is always a subtitles, never deliver the depth of original language. Pls guyz suggest me another series like this one , though i have to wait few months as i am now feeling i just broke up someone by seeing this series ending. It's really hard to believe this series is end in ep 31. Its should be 800 ep to satisfied me and others crazy fan. 🙂

The story sucks you in

I admit, when I first saw the premise of this movie, I wasn't initially interested because I'm not much of a gamer. But the way they presented the story with a fiesty young girl who loves the game and joins an all male team, it hooked me in almost instantly. And although there is a romance in the story, I found that there were also enough solid side characters that made the story that much more interesting. I like the character of chubby, he wasn't just a comic relief like is often the case when they have an overweight character. Instead, he ended being very much used as also a support for the ML in his quest to get the girl. And the various competitions that they have to go through, you can see the growth in the FL as a player. She goes from just being an amateur gamer to a professional. I actually teared up when she lost the first time against that other gamer online especially when she said it didn't affect her. But then continued to stay up late to try and practice in order to get better. It was so touching when the ML came back to check on her. This was so early in the series. But you could already see the writers setting up the story for them to get together, Of course it's predicatable. But if you're looking for a series that's easy to watch, not much to figure out, with a solid cast and fun storyline, I highly recommend this series. This is also easily a rewatch one. I'm watching it again, I think for the 4th time now.

This story has inspired many viewers because of the great actors

Hopefully it will have season 2 because I love the story as well as its cast, especially xu kai as lu si cheng and cheng xiao as tong yao they have great chemistry that many people like and when they decide to make it season 2, hopefully they won’t replace all the cast of season 1. Even though I'm done watching it I still can't get over it, we'll wait for it to have season 2, not now but soon. I highly recommended this story to everyone to watch it 💯💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗

Cute

This is a very cute, simple and straightforward drama. The acting gets a low rating just cos of the female lead, I almost dropped this drama because of her. It just felt like she wasn’t doing much for the character at all. Asides from that, the drama was fun to watch in general, the ML was great. One of my favourite episodes was when she was on her period but still owned the game, baddie. It felt like the show was so male focused sometimes so it was good to see smiling and her friend alone in some scenes. I enjoyed it better when I rewatched.

I had put off watching this drama but decided to give it a go after reading the good reviews. Unfortunately I have to be a killjoy and say that I was disappointed by the drama. For me it did not live up to expectations . While the general premise of the show was good (female making it in the male-dominated gaming industry), the screenwriting was not on par and resulted in stilted dialogues. Many reviewers had also talked about the the chemistry between the leads but I did not feel that chemistry at all; I thought their interaction with each other was quite strained. I believe the show was dubbed and the synchronisation was off so this did not help to bring across any spontaneity in the dialogues. What kept me going with each episode though were the games as these were quite well portrayed (and I am not a gamer). The gaming competitions contributed to the tension that was otherwise lacking in the leads’ relationship. I also enjoyed the camaraderie amongst the team members with each member having their unique and quirky personality. I also appreciate the portrayal of the stress that the well-known gamers go through due to unreasonable expectations of fans and netizens. We have heard of too many real-life examples of these where celebrities are concerned.
To me, this drama cannot compare with other e-sports shows such as Go-go Squid or Gank Your Heart. However it is still a watchable drama if one does not have the same expectation from it.
