Warm & Sweet Romance

I never imagined that I would love this drama as much I do right now. I am normally not a big fan of romantic comedies or romance dramas in general, but this drama was just my cup of tea. It was not too cringy or sweet but just the right amount that makes you feel warm inside. I absolutely loved Xing Kelei and Mika's love story, from the beginning to the end. There are cliches used throughout the drama but it was not boring to watch at all. Also, it was very entertaining from beginning to end with a great amount of humor, action, and romance. I extremely enjoyed watching Xing Kelei's SWAT team do their missions and training. Bai Jingting is so hot as Kelei, and I can't help but fall for his character too. I can't imagine anyone else being a better Xing Kelei than him. The OST for this drama is also very catchy and played at all the right moments. Not to mention, the acting is also really great; Bai Jingting and Ma Sichun are super talented at acting real and bringing their characters to life. You Are My Hero is the best romance drama I have watched so far in 2021. I totally recommend it for anyone who wants a warm love story that will prove to be different than the other romance dramas out there.

Things I liked:
1. XING KELEI & MIKA- they are incredibly cute and hilarious together! I loved watching shy Kelei try to chase after Mika and being such a tsundere guy. They also did not have cringe moments, but really warm scenes that were just too cute.
2. Story- I love the progression of the story and almost every moment was fun to watch; especially the scenes about Mika and Kelei. I could watch the two together for hours.
3. Acting- talented actors/actresses in this cast and enjoyed watching them
4. SWAT scenes- SO CHARISMATIC! I love love how great Bai Jingting looks in an uniform and his action scenes. He looked so cool and ugh amazing. His team members were also so entertaining to watch; they were like a family and I loved them too. Wish I could see more of their team in action and doing different missions. I never realized how much I love seeing a guy in a uniform LOL
5. the HUMOR- the drama gave me some really good laughs. Dense Shu Wen Bo was just hilarious! I also love how Kelei and Mika's dialogue together, like their scene when he gave her sunflowers because it looked like her ahahah. Or how he faked amnesia.
6. OST

If u do love medical and military romance you must watch this.

I don't know how to write a review but I badly wanted to write one about this drama because this is one of the best Chinese dramas I have ever watched.. Not a childish and lame story. Believe me, the characteristics of the two main role hits soo hard... This made me fall in love with a soldier... This is motivating and teaches you how to manage ur relationships during any hard times. Trusting each other and loving each other are the major messages conveyed by this story. This story reveals that love is not only about physical affection also empathy towards each other and mutual understanding. This drama gave me butterflies in my stomach hehe. Love this drama soo much... So heart-warming and realistic.. I hope the ones who read this would enjoy this drama and fall in love!

One of the Best Chinese Dramas yet made.

For a person who dislikes the execution of Chinese dramas so much of the extremely fake and cutesy voice overs which of course this drama has but not to the extreme where you can't stand it, unlike Hidden Love where the Female Lead had an alarming baby voice that couldn't make me stand to continue. The decent voiceovers were the reason I continued this drama.
The plotline was very well executed in the beginning, and each major plot line had a good time playing out since it wasn't too slow or rushed. Although as with many Chinese drams after the 25th episode, the show had started to get boring since we can see the writers begin to stretch out the storyline which caused me to skip more often but either than that I was still able to complete the show; since not only the plot line was at my expectations; none of the characters were annoying or cringe and overall for a Cdrama I would completely recommend for you to watch.

A Sincere Romance Set Against Real Stakes, Even If It’s Sometimes Too Ideal

If you’re looking for a drama that feels sincere, this one’s definitely worth checking out.

You Are My Hero genuinely surprised me with how believable and heartwarming the main couple was. Mi Ka and Xing Ke Lei’s chemistry felt so real that I actually found myself rooting for them, not just as characters but as people. Their little moments together were sweet without being too cheesy. And I loved watching both of them grow, Mi Ka becoming more confident and Xing Ke Lei letting his guard down emotionally to Mi Ka was so satisfying to see. The medical and rescue team setting really set this drama apart for me. It added some realism with excitement, which I appreciated how it shows a balance in the characters’ demanding jobs with their personal lives. The friendships among the supporting cast made the drama feel fuller, which I found myself actually caring about what happened to them, not just the main romance. Plus, the mix of heartfelt scenes and action-packed rescues kept things from ever feeling too slow.

That said, I can’t ignore that some story beats were pretty predictable. I could see certain twists coming from a mile away as the drama definitely leaned into familiar themes. Some conflicts, especially the misunderstandings or outside threats, felt a little exaggerated, almost as if they were just there to stir up drama (I enjoyed only some of it). And honestly, as much as I loved the main relationship, sometimes the couple was just a bit too understanding of each other. Like, in real life, people don’t always handle things that perfectly, but I guess that’s part of the fantasy.

It's a loss if you miss it!

Folks, let me start off by saying that this is nothing like the Korean drama DOTS apart from the similarity in the professions of the leads.
This drama is my favourite Chinese drama so far. I admit, I have a thing for military/police drama genre. This one doesn't disappoint!
There is humour, believable action and sufficient accuracy in portrayal of various professions. The comedy is natural and isn't forced (for the most part). The ML is adorable!! And HOT🔥🔥🔥The FL has the most infectious smile and an adorable giggle. The leads have amazing chemistry. I came to know later on that most of their dialogues weren't scripted. No wonder it feels so real and natural.
Like most modern Chinese dramas, it is motivating and reinforces the idea of commitment to work/service.
This is a great drama that is extremely feel-good. There is no unnecessary angst. It is paced perfectly. Apart from the secondary couple who have the most angst for no good reason, the main couple and the third couple are poster-children for couple goals.
You'll laugh, you'll cry a bit, you get angry on behalf of the FL, you'll feel all gooey and mushy. More importantly, you'll be pleasantly surprised by what Chinese dramas of the present can offer.

Definitely give it a chance. You won't regret it!!!

a beautiful romance drama with medical and military/police theme!

You are my hero is a perfect blend of romance, medical and military police.
It is a must watch for those who dislike misunderstandings, love rivals and mean families. In You are my hero, there is none of that going on. You are my hero is a refreshingly mature drama, as main leads actually are understanding, caring and loyal.

THE STORY:
You are my hero revolves around Mi Ka. Mi Ka is a doctor who studies neurology and wants to become a good neurosurgeon. Mi Ka goes to buy a present for her parent's wedding anniversary, when suddenly there is a robbery in the jewelry store. There is a medical emergency and she bravely takes care of it even in the middle of the robbery. When SWAT team arrives, one of the robbers put a hand grenade on her hand, and she then meets SWAT Tiger assault team's Captain Xing Kelei. Xing Kelei saves her and takes the grenade from her hand in a safe place.

2 years later, Mi Ka's hospital wants their doctors to take an emergency course from SWAT team. Mi Ka leaves without permission because a very gifted doctor, Dr.Shao is in town, and she has a friend/patient that she wants to save. Mi Ka wants to ask Dr. Shao's opinion on things. When looking for a way to get to the hospital, Xing Kelei drives by and offers her a ride, and almost immediately recognizes Mi Ka. When she comes back to the base, Xing Kelei gives her a punishment to clean the toilets. Xing Kelei starts to have a crush on her almost immediately. Even though he is a hard instructor, he is a caring person.

Soon they are friends and show their mutual interest in each other. As a special policeman and doctor, they both are busy people yet have a lot of understanding towards each other. Xing Kelei as a special policeman has to drop everything in case of an emergency. As a doctor, Mi Ka is often helping with the emergency, when medical attention is needed.

SPOILER PART OF THE STORY, MY OPINION:
Mi Ka's and Xing Kelei's relationship is very mature as they understand each other. Mi Ka spends a lot of time in the hospital and in private she watches videos about surgeries. Xing Kelei can be days without contact due to the nature of his work as a special policeman on top of having to stay at the base for training. Mi Ka moves into his apartment (Mi Ka rented it without knowing it is Xing Kelei's apartment.) And as Xing Kelei's sister, Xing Keyao lives in the apartment opposite, Xing Kelei lives with his sister when he is not staying in the base, until eventually moving in with Mi Ka.
In my opinion, their relationship is very cute and mature, but it does get a bit boring in the middle. I think this drama was a little too long and could have been 10 episodes shorter. In this drama, there isn't really much going on. There are no real love rivals (there is one girl who is Xing Kelei's ex captain's daughter, but she only needs him for her medical fees. And even she gets taken care of very quickly, and she doesn't get the chance to create a misunderstanding between them.) There are a couple of times when Xing Kelei gets hurt and gets treatment from Mi Ka and her colleagues.

You are my hero spent too much time on side characters in my opinion. Mi Ka's best friend, Ruan Qing Xia ("Xia") develops a crush on Xing Kelei's team member, Shu Wenbo and starts to chase him. There is a quick love triangle between Shu Wenbo, Xia and Shu Wenbo's and Xing Kelei's friend, Lu Feng.
Other side couples are Dr. Shao and Xing Kelei's sister Xing Keyao and there is some time spent on two of Mi Ka's colleagues too.
It was a shame that in the end we saw Xia and Shu Wenbo getting married and 2 years later it's hinted that Xia is even pregnant, but our main couple is left with the "we are engaged, getting married.. soon." Xing Kelei and Mi Ka got engaged, but then Mi Ka got a chance to study abroad for 2 years and she went. Then we get a time skip 2 years later and Xing Kelei proposes to her again in the end. I felt like this was so unnecessary. In the end also Dr. Shao and Xing Keyao are engaged and are going to go to civil affairs bureau the next day to get their marriage certificates.. The ending just seemed very rushed, which seemed absurd because I think the drama was way too long, and many scenes were unnecessary and too long.

I suggest this drama to those who like medical/military/police theme and dislike love rivals and misunderstandings and want to watch something light and easy.
All in all, i'll give this drama a 9.

ACTING:

Ma Sichun as Mi Ka,
She was a good pick for this role but seemed to lack presence. Her acting got overshadowed by other actors, and she seemed tired and lacked energy. She did act well in her crying scenes and showed realistically the feeling of being scared.

Bai Jing Ting as Xing Kelei,
He was a great pick for this role. His acting naturally stood out the most from the cast, as a lot of time was spent on his missions. When Xing Kelei is sick and needs a surgery, Bai Jing Ting acted out the feelings of panic and frustration very well.

This drama is really good, one of the best Chinese dramas I've watched.

The story? 100% great
The casts? 100% great
The acting? 100% great
The characters? 100% great
The chemistry? 100% great

The concept is similar to the Korean drama "Descendants of the Sun" but with different vibe and story.

I never get tired of watching every episode. The drama is well made and the story is well written. At first I saw Sandra Ma as FL, I immediately believed this drama would be good. Each character is unique and each has an important role in this drama. No roles are left behind.

Xing Ke Lei and Mi Ka's love story is not a new plot in the world of drama, but Bai Jing Ting and Sandra Ma can really got me sucked into this drama. Their acting is natural, not made up, and their chemistry is perfect.

I also love the story between Ruan Qing Xia and Shu Wen Bo. It's unusual and I really like the character growth in their story. Their story is very funny and makes emotion at the same time.

And what should not be left behind, dr. Shao! Geez, I love him so much. The character is top notch! Smart, handsome, modest, calm, and wise. Wayne Wang portrayed his character perfectly. And Xing Ke Yau, damn she's so pretty! Hard outside but soft inside, a very kind and understanding sister. His love story with dr. Shao is also my favorite! Even though they are the oldest couple in this drama but their stories are adorable!!

Damn, I love this drama. Not dragging, light yet heart-warming story. Good job to the drama crews and the actors!

Watch this with Descendants of the Sun in mind...

I re-watch Descendants of the Sun often, it is an awesome series from start to finish, it hadn't let me down in the slightest. When I say watch this with Descendants of the Sun in mind, I mean you will find similarities in the scene, occupation, side stories, and acting, though You are my Hero has a bit more detail you won't find it boring in the slightest. Don't get me wrong, this is not a remake, it's a brilliant series with a very similar plotline, each brought something different to the table and did not fail in serving.

Light Action Rom-Com (for me) and you will want to have this Show to have A SEASON 2 or SEQUEL!!!

They Casted the perfect actors for this (talking about the Main Roles and some of the Supporting Roles, You will know it if you Watched it till the End) they have this chemistry between them that fits each other.
Even though it was 40 EP you will feel like its not enough once you reach EP 30 Onwards (Stated from the Headline Above)

Downside is you might find this show boring because it has a slow progression but bear with it, YOU will find yourself smiling
at the end, Also when they use Greenscreen for the Car Scenes (some of it) its kinda off hahhahaha

All in all it is a GOOD Watch and has a good Rewatch Value also S2 is really needed hahahhah!

I thought this would be just a normal drama with a not so amazing storyline. But I have to say, it was so so amazing.
Firstly, the main lead's personality...I thought in the beginning he would be very cold and strict like male leads are in dramas like these. But to my surprise, Xing Ke Lei was so easy-going and funny. His expressions killed me every time. He was understanding, calm, lovable and caring. The female lead was also not portrayed as a weak person who needs the protection of the male lead all the time. She was brave and great in her own way. One thing I noticed that her dressing was to her own comfort and she didn't go out of her way to look beautiful for her boyfriend.
After the main leads get together, they have a lot awkward moments between them. That is how it is in real life. You are still getting used to each other and not everything is perfect and lovey-dovey. They had their chemistry though. They understand each other and respects each other's choices. They were too cute. One of my favourite things is when at the end Xing Ke Lei says that he cannot be hers only and cannot always put her first. They showed true feelings and realistic things in this drama.
As for the other characters, I liked Xing Ke Yao. She was just like her brother, funny and caring. I'm glad they didn't give us the evil sister-in-law. Also, Shao Yu Han's role was nice too. He was a good teacher who always had faith in his students. Straightforward and to the point.
There were some points that were not so good. For example, the mission the male lead was on whilst the female lead was isolating was rather confusing. It was just there to lead him to the Mi Ka and make us realise he cannot always be there for her. But it wasn't needed. Some time wasted on that. Some of the episodes dragged on a little.
Overall however, it was a truly great drama that I recommend to you.

Great pairing! Sandra Ma and Bai Jing Ting did a wonderful job!

I love them!!!! Though upon reading the gist of the story, you'll think it's another DOTS but you're wrong, cause it has a different attack of the story. The only common thing is that, she's a doctor and he's from the military/police department but that's all. I love how they gave life to their characters. How Sandra Ma and Bai Jing Ting gave played their roles perfectly and how good their chemistry was on screen. 40 episodes fly too fast for me.

I just find the 2nd lead couple frustrating at times, their love story is tooo tedious, a lot of issues. I was too stress for them, I felt that at times, I wish it was more of Dr. Mi Ka and Xing Ke Lei's on screen moments than them. But anyways, they complete the series, that's why I still watched them.

Not very bad, enough comedy, but cheesy

It's hard to express, you can't say this drama is very bad, Maybe it's good enough but there are so many scenes that don't make sense and are very absurd,, cheesy? ,, sometimes while watching it feels fast, but sometimes feel bored and i use 2x speed and need more speed

It's also not clear what they say, if you don't read the subtitles sometimes you don't know what they're talking about, or maybe the sound problem?

Lu feng, cast only complicates the problem, toxic cast with ruanqingxia

There are so many flashbacks scene that have been shown before,,, a waste of scenes,,immediately skip

* During xingkelei surgery, he enter the operating room with a shirt not with surgery clothes

* During emergency operation in the lift, they can open a little gap to provide emergency surgery tools, but can't give a cell phone with a battery to give instructions,so absurd
