That one special mark will be always for you..?

If you want lots of drama, love triangles or misunderstandings that drag too long... look elsewhere.

If I had to use three words to describe this drama they would be soft, fluffy and heartwarming.

The best youth drama I have watched this year.
I have loved this show so much that I just couldn't help myself but write a review on how good this show is! And also, I am not a native English speaker, so please ignore grammar mistakes if I've made any.

Often times when I watch any show, I just care about the main couple and don't give a damn about whatever happens to the side couple/character(s), but here, it's a completely different story. I had the same amount of interest in every character's storyline.

The friend group — I adore the strong bond that they have among their group. They are the type of friends who are so silly yet so pure, who will pull your leg at any given chance but will not hesitate to stand by your side the in times of crisis.

Their relationship development was neither rushed nor too slow-paced.

So, if you love a good romantic youth/idol drama with a good storyline and great acting or you're feeling down and want to lighten up the mood or you're just looking for a good light hearted rom-com drama that you can binge on, then this drama is definitely for you!

I finished the story not because the romance but the friendship. Their friendship between them feels real. For the romance, it's not for me. I believe in relationship, relationship should have effort of 2 person not one person alone. But in this drama, FL is the one give her effort on that relationship. People keep saying ML so green forest because he is soft spoken but it doesn't feel that way. You know men typical where FL ignoring ML that's when ML feel lost, and that's what Rangrang does. The acting is quite good

You don't need conflicts to have a wonderful story. Sometimes we just need peace in love.

If you are someone who loves to watch dramas without complicated plots and issues. You should give this a try. It's fun, cute, mature and healthy show that would make you reflect about why we complicate life. The drama is light, but it touches issues about insecurities, understanding, communication and security.

This drama gave me the kind of peace I hope for in a relationship, be it romance or friendship. Two people giving the kind of support and understanding that is rarely seen today and friends that would be with you without doubt. The story is simple, yet it will you such warmth you never thought you needed. The most important thing is that it teaches you that distance and differences should never be a source of conflict to break a good relationship. It might require trust, effort and maturity but growing in different surrounding doesn't mean that you are growing apart.

I really love how brave the main lead in expressing their thoughts and feelings.

jiang jia and gu ran superiority

Nice drama. I wouldn’t say it was my favorite or as good as the ones I’ve given nine stars to the past. But for a romance it was a nice watch. it was heavily focused on romance, friendship and youth. I love how much time the side characters got. jiang jia and gu ran were my favorite characters by far and some episodes were even focused on them. If the drama was about them two mainly I think I would’ve given this a nine. I just didn’t like the two mains better than them two. but the two mains were nice as well

strong start...boring second half.

let's get this out of the way. did I like this drama? yes. is it perfect? nothing is perfect.

plot: we follow a group of teenagers throughout their highschool and uni years and witness their growth.

let's start with the positives:

this is a very sweet drama. the representation of youth and everything around it comes off as sweet and relatable.

I like how the drama shows different kinds of family dynamics (single parents, busy parents, brother rivalry, etc) and personal emotions.
this is a slice of life show and especially in the first half this is done quite well and in a very sweet and enjoyable way.

the main ml is very sweet and reminds of a younger Esther yu. the cast was a good choice and the characters are all funny and well portrait.

the soundtrack is very pleasant and "youth feeling".

onto the negatives:

I liked that the main ml is not the usual asshole. he is of course the representation of the "cold guy" but he is not mean in any way compared to others teenager dramas. on the other hand he is literally a stone wall. I feel most of the time the FL is talking to her self while he is there touching his neck, smirking and coughing.
not really a thrilling characters. but he is a nice guy.

the series in itself feels really predictable. there isn't much of a plot going on and even though it is sweet to experience all these moments with the cast it starts to feel pretty boring mid way.
especially reaching episode 17 I felt we weren't going anywhere.
the characters don't really develop. there stay the same even though time passes and their dynamics stay still.
that's one of the reasons I feel the show should have ended when they finished highschool.
we kinda see where they are heading and I feel there wasn't really a need for a "detailed" ending.

the college episode are frankly so boring and inconsequential. I admit I skipped basically all of them fast forwarding to the part where Jia Jiang and Guan run (I forget their names😅) get together.
frankly speaking at a certain point I was more invested in their dynamic than into the main couple.

speaking of the main couple, watching them grow closer was sweet but also "blue balls inducing". at a certain point I asked myself what was the point. they grew closer but It didn't look like they were acting trying to date or anything else.

personal observation:
this stems from a personal perspective but watching some Chinese show is sometimes painful. being westerners is hard to sympathize with family forcing their kids to stop living to just study. teachers prohibiting literally teenagers to date is something I cannot wrap my head around. especially giving the fact that many household expect their kids to get married as soon as they graduate uni. I am sorry. you keep your kids celibate for years and then expect them to procreate without any experience....
I know at the end this is just a cultural clash with I am used to on a certain level.

overall this is a very sweet drama especially when it comes to friendship.
should you watch it? it depends on how much your care about a plot or if you just enjoy vibes.

New and Refreshing

I don't watch many straight shows or cdrama/kdramas very often because of length and slow burns being too slow and all that shit but I really enjoyed this show. I thought it was really refreshing although from the outside it might seem like just any other
high school romance drama with the loud, bubbly MFL and the cold, smart, quiet MML, this show really has differences that allows it to stand out.

Starting off with the blatant difference with the female lead actually being smart in a subject. Most dramas will make the female lead the stupidest person on the planet but there is no on the low misogyny with her character. She excels in one subject over others, and she is quite emotionally intelligent and aware. Her personality really meshes well with the main male character who is more of the quiet type, but not all at rude or obnoxious. He excels in math but falls short in English and both the characters are able to help one another in their respective subjects, not only that but they're so communicative. When there's an issue they talk about it. There is jealousy, because that is a natural human response to something, but they don't drag it on, they don't make it a whole big issue. And I just love how Zai Zai is allowed to stand up for herself, she doesn't need Rang to save her.

I think this dynamic is 100x better than any other when it comes to school dramas. I really enjoyed the development of their feelings, even if Zai Zai liked him from the beginning, the way she begins to further understand her emotions was portrayed very nicely.
Even after getting together, they show a lot of their relationship afterwards, even after marriage, speaking on taboo topics such as: workplace harassment and even pregnancy afterwards.

All of this and i haven't even gotten to the side couple and the relationships as a whole.
Side couple: i think just like the main couple progression of their relationship is really cute. They have a silly, bickering couple dynamic and I absolutely feel in love with it. The second male lead is actually my favorite, his reactions to the side girl and the way he realizes he likes her is just my favorite, waiting for her, willing to keep his feelings a secret from her to remain friends, kill me omfg.

Now, onto the friend group entirely. This is just such a refreshing friend group. They are so supportive of one another, not just the girls to each other but also the boys. The other male character has an amazing relationship with his grandmother, and I love it. This show doesn't dive extremely deep into the complexities of being a high school student, but it doesn't shy away completely to issues.

Overall, this show is fucking amazing, love it omg.

my favourite ever

OH MY HEART😭🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 I LOVE THEM SO MUCH❤️ I COULD REWATCH OVER AND OVER AGAIN😭 THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST DRAMAS I HAVE EVER WATCHED AND WILL ALWAYS BE IT. I CANT GET OVER IT. I LOVE IT SO MUCH😭😭

if you are looking into watching it, you should definitely do it, right now, no hesitation. i was a little late to watching it as i was in the middle of other dramas.

i regret not watching it earlier, but at the same time i don’t, because if i watched it while it was being released i don’t know what i’d do during the weeks that i’d have to wait for a new episode, so i’m kind of glad to have started later than everyone else and was able to watch it all in one go. it would have been a lot of very long weeks

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR WATCH THIS!!

This is literally the best drama I have ever watched!! I have watch loads of Chinese youth dramas but this one just feels different. There are no major conflicts just a story about a group of kids experiencing life. Overall this story honestly felt really refreshing, cute, and realistic. It has a simple storyline but you never feel bored. It uses a lot of elements that other youth cdramas use but it never feels too cliche. But I think the characters are really what brings this drama to life. Whenever I watch dramas I always end up not caring about at least one of the characters in the show. But this drama had me caring about every single character. The characters are so well rounded and I fell in love with all of their storylines.

Zhang Lu Rang and Su Zai Zai - Honestly the cutest couple I’ve ever seen!! This couple literally has me smiling so hard!! Zhang Lu Rang is your typical quiet shy/smart guy but unlike other cdramas he’s not cold or mean to the FL in fact he genuinely cares about the FL. Su Zai Zai is on the other hand is your typical extroverted lovesick FL that has a huge crush on the ML. But what I love about Su Zai Zai so much is that she isn’t dumb, she knows how to speak her mind and she’s not afraid to stand up to people. The way she handles situations in her life is so admirable. She encourages the ML to reach and achieve his goals and it’s so touching to watch. I also like how there is no second lead/ second love interest cause love triangles make dramas so annoying to watch sometimes. Anyway just watching both of them makes me so jealous!! I really need a healthy relationship like that in my life.

Gu ran and Jiang Jia- This might be an unpopular opinion but I think I like this couple over the main couple. It’s not often that I like the second lead couple over the main couple but these two have got me kicking my feet up in the air and squealing. Gu ran is extroverted and confident and Jiang Jia is strong headed and mature. It’s enemies to friends at first and then friends to lovers. Gu ran is literally the sweetest towards Jiang Jia and even though Jiang Jia had a crush on another guy Gu ran still wanted her to be happy. I love how he is willing to do everything to make sure that Jiang Jia is smiling. Jiang Jia on the other hand is very mature, even though Jiang Jia got rejected from her crush she didn’t cry and whine about it. Instead she got over it and kept moving forward with her life. Sometimes with second lead couples I find them very toxic and I usually don’t ship them over the main couple but these two (in my opinion) have the best chemistry in the show and are not toxic at all.

Guan Fang and grandma- Now this is a heart warming relationship. These two are so adorable and you can see how much Guan Fang values family more than anything else. Honestly this relationship added a lot of life into the show and I wish we got more scenes with grandma.

Overall this drama was amazing!! I hope you go watch it because it is well worth the watch!! Best drama to release of 2023!! Honestly recommend if you like dramas such as A love so beautiful, our secret, and hidden love.

this is a comfort show!

⭐ Overall: (7.5/10)
This was such a good show! It had me hooked from the beginning!! 😝

📖 Story: (7/10)
- It's just a show you can keep playing in the background; you don't have to really focus on it.
- Its story is quite simple, but it's more like a slice of life series.
- everything is quite obvious, which makes it easy to watch...

🎭 Acting/Cast: (6.5/10)
- The FL (Su Zai Zai) acted like a kid 😭, but that's obvious, and I really like how the ML (Zhang Lurang) acts; mature throughout the show, which was a good balance. It's definitely grumpy + sunshine!! ☀️
- honestly, I liked the chemistry between them cause I'm a weeb for cringe romances 🤓 (don't come at me, pls). It was a bit fake, which was a bit annoying, 😒 but other than that, it was cute!
- lowk all the side characters are amazing, my fav is definitely the ML's best friend (Gu Ran) cause he's super funny :3

🎶 Music: (5/10)
- The OSTs aren't super memorable, which is a bit disappointing. 😒
- They do fit the scenes, which was okay.

👀 Rewatch Value: (9/10)
- I've been rewatching it annually ever since I first finished. 🐒

✨ Final Thoughts:
I think this drama is great, and I'd recommend it to people who enjoy cute high school romances (which have a few cringy moments in it!) 🥹

Nicely done

Not boring. Well acted despite all the actors and actresses being so young. I thought every episode was pleasant to watch and each episode demonstrated their growth. The show seemed to focus on how one can change and open up an introvert. I like that they had an honest relationship for once. No stupid misunderstandings or games, pretending you don't like someone when you really do. Both ML and FL had strengths and neither were annoying. Lots of closeness, and support from their friends. Really refreshing drama.

Experiencing Youth

I have no other way to describe this drama other than the word 'youth'. I think what made me so attached to this show was that it felt like living through the bittersweet joyful days of youth, one that I never had/may never have. It's very pure, to a point that makes it healing and comforting. If you're looking for a heartwarming drama that can make you smile, I think this may be the right one for you!

The story and the characters are extremely easy to fall in love with, I was just about 5 eps in when I knew it would be hard to move on and now that I've finished it that hasn't changed. Perhaps I'm a tad bit of an emotional person, but even for a fun and happy drama, there were moments that I cried my eyes out for. It wasn't anything that was heartwrenching, but rather it was that bittersweet nostalgia of youth and purity that brought me to tears. It was those moments full of laughter when we're young, that as we grow up, we may not be able to get again.

All the main characters are kind and emotionally mature in their own ways, despite being 'young'. It made me think of the ones who grow up too fast, the little adults that mature too quickly, for better or for worse. I really don't think it gets more youth than this HAHAH.

*spoilers below*

Zhang Lu Rang is actually a really heartbreaking character, who I think is really strong. I think I would have crumbled if I had been in his shoes. He never complains or speaks up about how the favouritsm is affecting him, and it's to a point where we barely get a glimpse of the amount of pain he was in that led to him distancing from his brother. I cried at the part when his brother realised that being quiet and not smiling a lot was not because of his personality, but rather that he couldn't because of the family environment. Zai Zai helped him to brighten up a lot, and every time his dimple smile came out because of Zai Zai, I felt an unexplainable amount of joy.

Zai Zai is everyone's favourite sunshine, she brings so much joy in every moment and scene that she's in. She's fun but she's not weak. There's multiple moments where she stands up for herself and I just adore her. Jiang Jia is an energetic character who always got everyone's back and Gu Ran is a chaotic but actually really kind and wise. Guan Fang is someone who has learnt his lessons and has grown up to become a loving friend and grandson. (If I really go indepth into each character it's never gonna end) They all form healthy relationships and their friendship is to die for frfr, I fall in love with every of their little outtings and all their schenanigans.

The acting I wouldn't say is spectacular performance of the year, but it's mostly because I think we don't dive too deep into intense scenes. They all do a good job in portraying their characters and the most important part of this show: youth. I love love love love the concepts in this drama, mainly speaking of their video diaries. The angle that the show goes for is very nostalgic, as if looking back onto memories just as we would our own. Every moment feels golden and just so precious and endearing, even if it is the simplest of things. I think they did amazing with pacing, other than perhaps the last episode, the pacing is very good and it doesn't feel rushed or draggy and boring. I also love the detail where they turn 17 at ep 17 and so on. It was just so nice to see them grow up and it felt like I was growing with them. The music is also rather fitting, my favourite is 'Paige's Summer' that feels extra nostalgic. I just wish there was more episodes honestly. I'm so attached to them that I would have loved to see every small details of their lives as they grew up. For example, perhaps there could have been more on Rang Rang's healing regarding the issue with his parents.

Overall, I think it's well done in all aespects and it's definitely one of those shows that you rewatch again and again for the comfort. The characters are lovable, there isn't unnecessary drama or misunderstandings, there's healthy relationships, there's healing. there's love, and many many memories. It's definitely a drama that will forever be a comfort, will be super hard to move on T-T.
