A SHOW FOR THE HISTORY BOOKS
i truly truly truly don't think the impact this show had can be replicated. even the this wasn't the first cdrama i watched, it was the first one that made me interested in cdramas.the vibes were PERFECT.
the friendship, the romance, the innocent first love.... everything was captured PERFECTLY. the thing with su zaizai filming everything on her camera was adorable.
there wasn't any toxicity. everything was potrayed beautifully.
this is forever my first rec for whoever wanting the watch a cdrama.

I recommend this drama to anyone who wants to watch a comforting and peaceful series. The relationship between the main characters is beautiful and carefree. They are a wonderful support for each other, trust one another completely, and because of that, unnecessary arguments never come between them. The development of their relationship is also amazing—at first, Su Zai Zai seeks contact with him, but soon enough, he wants the same. He slowly begins to open up to her, and she shows him that he, too, is someone special and deserves happiness. What starts as a friendship quickly turns into love, which blossoms in college and continues into adulthood, where their carefree bond and genuine love remain just as visible. The whole storyline of their friendship as a group of five was also wonderful. Their carefree high school life, the dilemmas connected to university, and later their adult life were all portrayed beautifully. They always stayed together, despite the passing years and separations. On top of that, the relationship between Jiang Jia and Gu Ran was also lovely, and I rooted for them strongly. I was even a little sad that we didn’t get to see more scenes after they became a couple. The only one I truly felt sorry for was Guan Fang, who was the only one in the group not to find happiness, even though he also deserved it (P.S. his grandmother was wonderful).
There weren’t many downsides, although one of them is definitely that the storyline about harassment by the president wasn’t further developed—especially the consequences he faced. Another drawback is that we didn’t get to see Zhang Lu Rang’s parents truly realizing how much harm they had caused their sons (it was only mentioned that they supposedly noticed and changed, but I would have liked to actually see it).

Ultimate Comfort Drama
This entire show was beginning to end so sugary sweet it's amazing that the viewing audience isn't given immediate diabetes. This story follows the main leads as well as their friend group from their first year of high school through university, entering the work force and ultimately marriage and having a child by the last episode. It made for an experience where each and every episode my lips were unconsciously smiling or even giggling. As for the relationships, you could not go wrong with either RangRang OR Gu Ran as your life partner. Both showed complete devotion and I just wish we'd also been shown Gu Ran proposing but we just have to be content knowing it was literally only a simple matter of finding a "proper" time.

My first drama, and the MOST comforting
The only reason why I started watching c-dramas was because I came across a clip from this drama in YouTube Shorts 😭. It's a good thing that I did, because if not, I wouldn't start watching c-dramas AT ALL.The drama is relatively fluff. For me honestly, it's kid-friendly level. The only thing that's a bit inappropriate is the ONE drinking scene and the kissing scenes.
That's honestly IT. I did find Su Zai Zai a bit annoying though, not only because of her high pitch voice, but her actions.

So Sweet, Yet I Wanted More
"When I Fly Towards You" is a very warm and comforting coming-of-age drama that truly shines during its school arc. The development of the characters in their teenage years feels natural, emotional, and meaningful. Watching them grow, especially seeing how the female lead supports the male lead in overcoming his insecurities and psychological barriers, is the strongest part of the story. The male lead is written as an introverted and emotionally reserved person, which makes sense for his background and personality.
During the school phase, this works very well because every small step he takes feels like real progress. His growth, both academically and emotionally, feels genuine and satisfying, and the relationship develops through small, quiet moments rather than dramatic scenes, which makes it feel realistic and sincere.
However, once the story moves into their adult lives, the emotional progression slows down significantly. While their relationship remains sweet and stable, it also feels somewhat stagnant. The male lead stays emotionally in the same place, and although that fits his personality, it creates the feeling that his internal journey is never fully explored or resolved on screen. The romance becomes more about comfort and companionship, but less about emotional depth and transformation.
The ending, including the pregnancy announcement, is symbolically beautiful and shows that their love continues into a new stage of life. Still, it feels more like a life milestone than an emotional climax. It confirms that they stay together, but it doesn’t quite deliver a strong emotional resolution to their personal growth, especially for the male lead.
Overall, this drama is perfect for viewers who enjoy calm, healthy, and gentle romances with strong school development and a comforting atmosphere. It may not be emotionally intense in the final episodes, but it remains a sweet and heartwarming story about growing up and growing together.

The most refreshing drama
I expected this to be another youth drama with friendships and romance but more focusing on romance than anything else. Actually, this had the perfect amount for everything. It made me want to have a friend group like them, there was no second man to take the main girl away. This was realistic but in a romantic, nice, fresh way.
The opening song is amazing, and hits you with nostalgia that I never actually felt. The acting was great for everyone, everyone matched the character they needed to play, and the story was amazing. It was not over the top drama, it was just real life issues, insecurities, thoughts, and it ended in the most adorable way.
Definitely watching this again.

It's juts like a typical High School Chinese Drama
I knew this drama through TikTok, and just watch a glimpse of some episodes and I'd say, I really did expect something different or new with this but yeah, as I get through this series I just realize it's just like the typical High School Chinese Drama. The girl will fall in love with the quiet, popular, and smart guy and it's just the typical plot of high school Chinese drama where the girl would do everything to get notice by the guy, and that's it, it's just has kind of different ambiance or place and different actor, I don't find anything special at all but yeah at least the girl in this story is not that dumb to not listen to his boyfriend to avoid misunderstanding and I like the part that she really has the confident that the guy really love him and they really did the connection. I also like the acting, well there's no dead air as expected of Chinese actors and I love to see some new faces. Was this review helpful to you?
Nice entertaining drama
I feel amid so much chaos and pressure in life, it is a drama where you will feel fresh after watching and sure you will recall your childhood days. This drama is full of love and friendship and how you can balance everything. The bonding between the main five characters is so good and they complement each other so well. Although I had a favourite, main lead's romance. I have watched many dramas and surely it will be one of my favourite drama that i enjoyed and would like to watch again!! Love from Bangladesh❤️Was this review helpful to you?

Not at 10/10 but I cried!!
YES it’s very very sweet, light hearted and warm to watch this drama. Any love rivals, issues were all resolved within one episode lol. The lead couple had such perfect understanding and communication, and supported each other all the way!So that’s the problem- it’s too perfect, and thus made this drama quite unrealistic. Haha.. not that I’m looking for break ups and miscommunication, but this was just too good to be true. One reviewer said their hairstyles didn’t change in what… 8 years?? Hahaha… so yeah- the producers should have been more alert on these sort of details.
Episodes 1-19 were mostly on their high school years, ages 16 -19. The main leads get together in episode 19 (if I remember correctly) and the last few episodes were in university, working life, and the final episode on their wedding and getting pregnant! It would have been nice to see a bit more on their uni days. I didn’t expect much on their work or married life as the actors are still quite young.
I especially loved the character development of the ML. From having very low self esteem and constantly being compared to his younger ‘smarter’ brother, he was very introverted, quiet, shy and just kept mostly to himself. But after knowing the FL, he opened up, started to smile more and was able to become a more wholesome adult.
The FL herself is a very very special character. She’s the opposite of him- chatty, assertive, confident and was taking the lead in most parts of their friendship and relationship. I loved the way she called him Rang Rang ;);)
2nd couple and secondary storylines were not too bad. Although again I find it hard to belief that the 2nd couple waited 5 years before acknowledging their feelings for one another and getting together. No relationships in between?
Anyhow, in the final episode there was the proposal scene, and it was SO TOUCHING!! I cried and cried!! No fancy dinners or flowers, but a very meaningful video montage. That’s how the ML is: not rich not flashy, but focused and certain all the way!!
Enjoy this one :) :)
