“When I Fly Towards You” is the kind of coming-of-age story that quietly takes over your heart. It doesn’t rely on dramatic twists or exaggerated emotions — instead, it captures the sincerity, warmth, and awkward beauty of being young and in love. Every moment feels genuine, like a cherished memory you can’t quite let go of.

The story follows Su Zaizai and Zhang Lurang, two high school students whose connection begins in the simplest way — a smile, a glance, a shared secret. Yet from these tiny moments grows something incredibly pure and healing. The drama beautifully explores friendship, self-discovery, and the courage it takes to open your heart to someone else.

Zhang Miaoyi and Zhou Yiran deliver performances full of quiet charm and authenticity. Their chemistry is effortless — full of nervous laughter, lingering eye contact, and genuine affection. The supporting cast also shines, each friend adding humor, comfort, and emotional depth.

The cinematography and soundtrack deserve special mention. Soft lighting, pastel tones, and gentle melodies wrap the story in nostalgia, making it feel like a summer afternoon you never want to end.

What truly sets “When I Fly Towards You” apart is its simplicity. It reminds us that love doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful — sometimes it’s found in a quiet classroom, a shy confession, or a promise kept.

It’s sweet, emotional, and full of life — a warm reminder of youth, sincerity, and the beauty of growing up with someone by your side.

Youth Drama at its finest !!

Usually I take MDL ratings with a pinch of salt but this is one of the rare times where the rating actually reflects the quality of the series..in fact I would say this rating is less for how good this drama is...no angst, no unnecessary conflicts..pure love and friendship as it should be..the FL was so charismatic that you couldn't help but fall in love with her..the ML was d definition of boyfriend material...loved d secondary couple and thought they were really amazing which is quite rare for me..overall a beautiful, lively, heartwarming drama that will make you smile and cry happy tears throughout !! bravo !! 10/10 without any reservations!! also special mention to d cinematography !!

A very sweet story between an introverted guy and cheerful girl: not revolutionary but heartfelt !

I truly enjoyed this very healing drama about the blossoming romance of Zhang Lu Rang and Su Zai Zai who met in high school. There were a lot of sincerity in the love and friendship displayed on screen and I really appreciated following the journey of the main couple (as well as their friends). The latest arc of the drama was not my favorite, it was good for rounding up the story but I'm not sure why it grabbed less my attention.

The acting was satisfying. The female lead (played by Zhang Miao Yi) was such a cutie and bubbly girl that you immediately understood why the male lead (played by Zhou Yi Ran) was drawn to her. Zhou Yi Ran's character was such a green flag, he had a lot of kind attention for the heroine that really gave me butterflies in the stomach. He is really charming with his dimples and I'm looking forward to see him in other shows.

The production value was pretty nice. I loved the fact that the heroine was filming the hero and doing her own commentary on her life. It was such a nice and realistic touch which came into play several times in an interesting way. The soundtrack was good, nothing really outstanding but fitting the romantic and healing vibe of the series.

I would recommend this to people looking for a really beautiful high school romance and featuring wholesome friendships. The last arc was a bit less exciting to me but concluded properly the story. If you are looking for a romance without angst, full of green flags and little butterflies inducing moments, this is a really good drama for you !

A simple school love and friendship

When I fly towards you is a very simple, light hearted, high school drama that focuses on the friendship of 5 students with a blooming love beteeen 2 couples amongst them.
Su Zaizai, Jiang Jia, Zhang Lurang, Gu Ran and Guan Feng, the group of theses 5 is very impressive😍
Their families and their relations are also focused upon, especially I liked the relatiin between Guan Feng and his grandma and also Su Zaizai's parents.
This drama mainly focuses on all our opinions, ideals, friendships, classes, studies, homework, that we go through in our high school days. I liked that the plot was kept simple with no issue dragging on for a long time.
However, what I liked the most are the DIALOGUES of this drama. They are very simply written yet seem to carry a powerful meaning beneath them.
All the cast acting is good. 👌
The music, costumes, locations, all are good.
Looking for a simple, worry free drama, then this one is for you. Recommend to watch it👍

Sweet coming of age series

This is a very sweet coming of age series. 24 episodes is just right and the story of course; dealing with the pressures of being in high school, then teenage emotions with added parental pressures to succeed at such a young age. It makes us want to do better as parents and look back on our youth, and how sweet it can be.

Light Romantic Relationship Drama

This is an adaptation of an early Zhu Yi novel. It's a delightful show, well acted. But really over all the plot narrative is simplistic and there's insufficient character development over all. Hidden Love and First Frost show more depth and growth. This is only a critique. This show is enjoyable and worth watching. And it is worth watching particularly if you are a fan of the other adaptions of Zhu Yi's work.

Wholesome easy watching

It took me a while to get into this drama because it’s so different to the dramas I usually watch. It’s not super dramatic, with constant plot twists and and dilemmas, it’s cute and wholesome watching that makes you feel warm inside. It was a refreshing watch with no annoying misunderstanding trope to be found and the small problems that did occur were quickly solved. Usually with dramas I’m sobbing from heartbreak but in WIFTY I was shedding tears from happiness by the last episode. This is the perfect coming of age drama and I’m so glad I stuck it through the first few episodes.

Cute love story

Drama is very cute! One would feel like smiling all the time while watching the drama. The leads look good together. Their pairing looks natural. It doesn’t look like they are acting. Some good messages are conveyed through drama related to stress due to comparison between students and how love always comes first and can resolve all conflicts. Brotherly love is shown beautifully.
The female lead character is shown as strong person who can take care of herself and handle all the problems thrown at her. Her perspective is fresh and pure and she stands up for her beliefs. Her character remains cheerful in all episodes except for 1 where there was 1 misunderstanding that put her down. Otherwise in all other episodes, her character remains uplifted and full of joy.
The male lead character is silent but takes proper action when needed. His character is reliable and cute. So they both look really cute together.

MY FINEST COMFORT C DRAMA!

As a high schooler myself, this hit so hard, especially since I was also on my way to my future with my friends. The actor's acting is not forced; it's so natural, and the cinematography is a breath of fresh air! There's no trope; it just makes you feel, in some way, comforted that some scenes make you tear up a little, especially the scenes of friendship between the five of them, which is so precious! I love how the drama balances the side stories of the characters, from how they started as high school students who joke around and have fun to achieving their dreams at the end and still being in contact with each other. This is such a healthy drama of family-orientedness and friendship. Over all, I really recommend this; you won't regret watching it.

Balanced, Beautiful, and Real.

This drama is such a refreshing, lighthearted watch. It actually reminded me of Forever Love, since both start with the couple’s wedding and follow their journey from high school to college, work, and eventually marriage. The difference is that this one focuses more on the high school phase, with only a few episodes dedicated to their college and working life. But unlike Forever Love, it avoids the usual frustrating tropes—no love triangles or constant misunderstandings. It’s simply a feel-good, well-paced story.

I now understand why this has a 9.0 rating—it truly deserves it.

Su Zai Zai is such a charming character—bubbly and bright, yet not naive. I love that she stands her ground and knows when to set boundaries, even with her cheerful personality. Zhang Lu Rang took a little while for me to warm up to, but once I understood his background—especially the pressure from being constantly compared to his younger brother—his character really hit home. His growth from being cold and distant to warm and emotionally open was so satisfying to watch.

What really stands out is how healthy their relationship is. They communicate well, support each other, and there’s a real sense of balance between them. Rang Rang may be in Class 1 and seen as the top student, but he struggles in English—meanwhile, Su Zai Zai from Class 9 excels at it. I loved how they helped each other out, tutoring one another and growing together.

The music also adds to the overall charm—fitting perfectly with the warm, easygoing vibe. I’d definitely recommend this as a first C-drama for anyone new to the genre. It’s wholesome, heartwarming, and well worth the watch.

very simple and light drama on youth

I have seen so many good reviews on this drama and I must say that it’s not really my cup of tea. Firstly, the actress(zhang miao yi) acting was cringe at times and i have to pause whenever she speaks in that high pitched voice. The actor( zhou yi ran ) portrays a cold guy and his acting wasn’t superb either. There are quite a few of sweet moments between the two and I must give them some credit for that, but other than that, I don’t really have much to say about this drama. Everything was just cute and fluffy, typical high school romance where the girl falls for a cold quiet shy guy at first site. Honestly a little disappointing. But i can see why many people really like this drama, because of its sort of nostalgic feeling of their youth days. If you are going for a very simple and light drama this is the one for you.
