Very good production

This drama is very similar with novel, acting and chemistry YangYang & Dilraba is very good, visual effect also very good. Overall it's very good production. About gaming scene, it also include in novel because it's the reason female lead reunion with her first love (male lead) after 10 years so it took so much in drama, but it definitely less after they participated in tournament. The gaming scene is looks interesting with good visual effect so I like it because eventough I'm not a gamer but I have playing Mobile Legend with very similar with Honor of King, so I'm understand when watching those scene

Unbiased review... [It gets better starting with episode 8]

Typically the people who like Chinese romcoms, like a lot of fluff, which btw, there's nothing wrong with that. I prefer romcoms with mature characters and realism (I think this drama maybe up my alley). I am not into Chinese romcoms but am open to watching them if the male and female leads have acted in Chinese historical/period dramas that I like. Before I get started with my review, it's important for me to mention that I rarely rate dramas a perfect 10, unless the drama has meaning behind the storyline, or it's well produced & written without loopholes in the script.

‣ ‣ Review for episodes 1-8
To be honest, I was bored watching the first 4 minutes of the drama. I was waiting for something super exciting to happen because of the background music. The background music was giving me the movie Armageddon vibes. While I was waiting, I noticed how attractive the male lead is. Then I saw Dilraba Dilmurat, and let's be honest, she's the main reason why I am interested in watching this drama, but her face looked paper white (I don't like the whitening filter, it's weird). Within the first 10 minutes of the drama you can basically predict what will happen in the whole series. Towards the end of episode 1, I was pumped, excited, and ready for more (as if I were a gamer lol).

The pros thus far (for people like me, who do not like fluffy romcoms) is:
•That the female lead does not do aegyo/sājiāo, and her character isn't clueless (thus far, atleast).
•Besides aegyo/sājiāo, I almost always hate the overly dramatic slow motion side effects in dramas, and when the female lead is clumsy and falls on top of the male lead and then we are shown the slow mo of the fall, 5 times from 3 different angles. You will not be seeing that in this drama, thank goodness! Within the first 5 episodes, there's only two slow mo moments; one in episode 3 for like 3 seconds, and another in episode 4 (nothing too dramatic).
•Also, I love the fact that the female lead is totally upfront with the male lead in episode 3, which is shocking to see in Chinese romcoms.
•In the first episode the scriptwriter explains how to play the e-sport game, which is really cool. This is the second esports romcom that I've watched, so I am not sure whether or not that is common.
•I like the screen quality/resolution.
•Oh yeah, the supporting male actors (the gamers) are pretty handsome too.
•I like the female lead manager; the manager is not controlling (not toxic), and she works while her husband stays at home and takes care of the household (and he doesn't complain while doing so).
•Lastly, I can relate to this drama because I am in my early thirties and I also had a quarter-life crisis. I quit my high paying job in tech, and basically started all over again, intentionally choosing to make 50% less than what I was making in my 20's. Also, although I knew the following quote, quoted in episode 4 towards the end, is true, it wasn't until this year that it basically became my motto: "The most foolish fantasy is the misconception that you can change a person."

NOTE: I actually disagree with some of the reviewers about there not being chemistry between the leads. Those who like Chinese romcoms tend to want to see what they've always seen, which is the male lead falling in love with the female lead at first sight. For me, that is not believable, and those relationships tend not to last long in real life. This drama has two lead characters who are in their 30's, thus they are taking their time getting to no one another as 30 year olds tend to do. My con written below regarding the chemistry is about the pacing, and not the chemistry itself. I also disagree with some of the reviewers about the male lead acting (my review is unbiased, as I don't think I've ever watched another drama of his). The male lead character is a freaking engineer for goodness sake LOL. If you ever met or worked with an engineer, you would know the reason why his character is the way that it is. Engineers who are men, tend to only talk a lot when it pertains to their work, and they tend to be introverted (not all, but most). Additionally, the male lead is having a quarterlife crisis, and is going through a transition in his life, so just think about how you would be if you were in his shoes.

The cons thus far is:
•That the female lead character (not the actress Dilraba Dilmurat) has an eating disorder. Within the first 4 episodes her weight is mentioned at least 4 times, and she's a size US 0/1. [read more: https://greatist.com/health/disordered-eating#signs-and-symptoms]. I know that her character is an actress, but it's not okay for actresses and actors to have eating disorders so they can fit into a toxic beauty standard.
•Also, between episodes 2 and 3 I didn't really like the pacing, it moved too fast and left little time for character development. I want the chemistry between the female and male lead to be built in a way that we can understand why they like one another.
•Lastly, the female lead keeps calling the male lead a narcissist, and making light of it as if dating a narcissist is a good thing. The male lead character is not a narcissist, and trust me folks, you do not want to be in any kind of relationship with one [read about narcissistic personality disorder by visit the following link: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/narcissistic-personality-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20366662]

I am def. going to continue to watch, hopefully I will be able to keep watching it to the end (I tend to drop Chinese romcoms before episode 6). I will add an additional review below this line, after I've finished watching the episodes as they are released and subbed.

‣ ‣ Review for episodes 9-13
•I really enjoyed episode 9, specifically the first 11 minutes because it highlights values within the Asian community that may need to be revised. I understand the need for filial piety, but I think filial piety without holding elders accountable is dangerous to one's mental health. Thus, I believe it is leading the younger Asian generation to commit suicide, because in addition to having the expectation of being totally loyal to their parents and grandparents, they have to compete in a ruthless society. The way that Asian elders lived back in the day (without technology, typically in homogenous societies, typically in patriarchal societies, etc), differs greatly from how Asian youth live nowadays. Unfortunately, in my community (I am not Asian), we have the same values but perhaps it's not as regulated. In my community, we are expected to take physical, verbal, and mental abuse from our parents and seniors just because they are older. That is dangerous because older people learn that they can abuse their power and authority without having to change, and the younger generation will be like the older generation once they become older.

this series is ordinary compared to all modern Chinese series

There was one thing in the series that I really liked, and that was the restaurants in the series that were decorated like houses. And luxurious and aristocratic to the extent that the restaurant's private rooms resemble Victorian reading rooms and libraries. Really interesting and unique. Especially the private room of the restaurant where Yuto went with his teacher, it seemed to take me to the writings of Jane Austen.
It was interesting because I had never seen this type of restaurant before

Is it a good series or not? To be honest, computer games are not very popular with the audience of some countries, but it seems that China is very interested in it and is constantly trying to make different stories with this theme and attract a large audience. The 15th and 16th episodes are all on the phone and the game scene is included minute by hour in the series text, I think it will confuse the viewer, but I think they will enjoy it.

Of course, this series is ordinary compared to all modern Chinese series

Fluff for days

OVERALL
This drama is the perfect filler! Watch it if 1) you need something light and fluffy, 2) you're looking for romance with smexy scenes, 3) you dig a more slice-of-life style of drama (with no real storyline). If 1) you want to see a well-developed plot, love story and characters, or 2) you're craving an emotional drama, maybe skip.

THE STORY
I've been struggling to settle on a rating for this drama. To be honest, there is nothing really special or great about it. The characters are nothing out of the ordinary, the plot is nothing out of the ordinary (except the ML's job, that's kind of cool!), the script is nothing out of the ordinary. It's not a drama that will make you cry or die of laughter either. But it's definitely super cute and fun to watch, and I would have binged it all in one day if I didn't have to wait for the last 6 eps!

The Good: First, there is no annoying character in this drama. Literally NONE. No bothersome third-wheels, no overwhelming parents, no archenemies...nothing. Secondly, we get to see what happens after the wedding of the main leads (aka after the 'happily ever after'), and it's always cool when we see glimpses of life after the ceremony. Thirdly, the drama really doesn't go cheap with OTP love scenes. Lots of cute, funny, smexy scenes between the leads - especially in the last third of the show, which is the best part, in my opinion. Lastly (and most importantly), this drama's is one of those that give good role models. We have two people who not only like each other but support each other's careers, even if it means that they don't get to hang out that often; that they're really busy and dedicated to their jobs. At first it doesn't seem like a major part of the show, but it gradually becomes clear that it is, and I honestly lived for it. Nobody should have to compromise their dreams for marriage. I think they're my new relationship goal haha

The Bad: I never thought I would say this, but I didn't like how there's almost nothing bad going on in this drama. The OTP always get what they want and almost never have to sweat for it. No hard obstacles to overcome, no relationship (or individual) growth, NOTHING. It makes the drama feel kind of...empty. I guess that's why I just couldn't be that emotionally invested in the story. Another big flaw in this drama is the lack of relationship development. It's never clear why FL fell for ML in high school, it's not clear why she falls for him in the present, and it's not clear when (or why) ML falls for FL in the present either. Flashbacks are useless to give us the backstory of their high school days, and while the leads spend plenty of time together before they become an item, we just see them playing video games. We don't see them falling in love. Which leads me to the third thing I didn't like about this show: the emphasis on appearance. It looks like the drama's answer to all the above holes in the plot is 'oh, but ML is SOOOO handsome!'. It's true (he is), and it's also true that looks matter (unfortunately haha), but looks shouldn't be the foundation for love. Even the FL's looks are emphasized to explain why ML likes her. There are a few other flaws here and there (eg. characters keep coming and going, and they're never mentioned again), but they're small compared to these three.

By the end, I would say that the good outdoes the bad, but only because the last third of the drama is SO cute, it makes up for the bad and how 'meh' the drama felt in the first two thirds haha

THE ACTING
Okay, I guess...I think Yang Yang and Dilraba did well with what they were given, considering both of their roles are cliché and don't have much depth. The only thing is, the chemistry is on and off between them. In some scenes you can feel it a lot; in others, I legit felt pulled out of the fiction when I saw them together (like they reminded me it was all an act). Also, all second leads were pretty unimpressive to me, but they barely have the chance to show much.

THE MUSIC
Not my style, but nothing distracting or annoying.

REWATCH VALUE
Pretty high! Like I said, it's the perfect filler. It's all good stuff, no drama, so it'll be perfect to rewatch in between heavier shows or when there's nothing good on the horizon.

Love It

Put both Yang Yang & Reba together you have one of best CP visual which was one of the main attraction for me, secondly I love the book.

The drama following very closely to what was written by GuMan and this is a blessing for those of us that enjoy the book alot.
Good editing so far and the pacing of the drama is really good for me, while the romance is yet to be really built up, you can feel the soft attraction in between the lead. Not leaving behind the supporting cast, this drama actually have very good supporting cast, and add them all together made the story and plots even more prefect.

YY definitely improve, he definitely convince me that he had molded himself into YuTu, while for Reba I felt like she is just being herself in JingJing's shoes which I love.

I'm not sure about you guys however I will definitely stick to this drama to the end.

Does Male lead has only one expression?Female lead acting is far better than the male lead.

Dilraba Dilmurat acting is far better than the Male lead, maybe she got good role. But the male lead has only one expression always sad and gloomy. He looks handsome but that doesn't save drama. His character is very boring ,but female got very good character. She is funny and cheerful. Drama is already half completed ,but there is no story development. almost 12 episodes based on playing video game only. I am unable to connect to the male lead that he is a scientist, but he is so good at video games. come on writer should have put more efforts on aerospace than the video game. any way this is purely based on my view. Don't take this review personally. If you are a fan of main leads you can give it a try.

The first episode is not that good so must be hard for all who doesn’t like the drama base on online game but after you watch ep 2 you gonna love it so far. The romance must be slow but I think they are amateur. This drama make you fall in love with all the characters. I like the main character. The fl she so cute but not try to be cute she just cute and lovely, kind heart smart but not talented for play game, the ml is so handsome, smart and gentle. The drama is so good mean while this drama base on novel and it’s actually follow the novel because the novel is so good.

Sorry my bad English

This series reminds me of my First Love..

Its been a while since i reviewed a series here in MDL.. Such a glorious series to watch so far.. and im sure this will be one until the end.. This series did not catch my fancy when i first saw the posterbut boy, do regret that now.. the chemistry is ssooooo spot on, the dialogues are so funny, relatable and just a hot to watch really. the tearjerking scenes feels like my heart is going to break.. i am still in the part of the series that they have not gotten together yet.. and Yang is soooo handsome, my gah!!!! you know it doesnt matter that he is portraying a normal guy, or even the fact that he makes less money that her.. his presence is so glorious that even if he is supposed to look pitiful he is not..? i dont know if im expressing it correctly but man, Yang is such a presence, his eyes is soo expressive. that scene when he stopped her from opening the door, the end of episode 19.. wow i felt like my knees buckled with how he wasnt even giving her a chance to say no to him... gosh...

im finishing this review before i click the next episode.. delaying the ordeal.. til next review..

Promising drama with the slice of life!

Promising drama with the slice of life!

I love watching ROCOM Cdrama. To my utter surprise this is not JUST a ROMCOM!!! The reason I started watching is "Yang Yang".

Needless to say that leads have fantastic chemistry, (of course when YY and DD are the leads). It is nice to watch small gesture implies emotions like accidently touching, even text messages. Actors seems to have done full justice to their character.

Drama deals with issues like what success truly is?, choices that we make e.g. Money verses Passion, professional life related insecurities, value of friendship.

Story and dialog are beautiful, apt, and precise. Honest conversation between leads even in their first encounter was beautifully shown. Characters portray maturity, honesty and sincerity.

To sum up, it looks like unique drama than usual ROMCOM with of course touch of romance.

U fall in love with the story and the cast..

The story content is picked in a very unique way.. The cast, music, and every edit deserves praise. Though i only watched 10 episodes( Uploded until 28/07), I am in love with it.
The male lead is similar to the one in Love O2O, in fact he is the same person. I am speaking about the popularity of the male lead, his intelligence and his character.
The female lead is the perfect fit for this drama. She is popular, cute but a little silly also ^_^.
A must watch drama if you are a fan of Romantic comedy..
I promise u will fall in love with it.
Waiting for the next episodes.........

Not Captivating, But Yu Tu Saves Some Scenes

You Are My Glory ended up being a disappointment for me, mainly because it never managed to truly hold my attention.

The aerospace-related storyline was, honestly, very boring and dry. It dragged a lot and made many episodes feel unnecessarily long.

The only part I found somewhat engaging was the gaming aspect. As someone who has played League of Legends, I enjoyed the gaming scenes more than expected, even without any prior knowledge of Honor of Kings. That was the one element that felt more dynamic.

Unfortunately, the romance was very weak for most of the drama. I never felt a strong emotional connection between Qiao Jing Jing and Yu Tu.

I especially struggled to connect with Qiao Jing Jing as a character, which made it hard to care about the relationship. With Yu Tu, I did feel a bit more connection, and he was the only character that somewhat kept me watching, I would even be interested in checking out another drama centered around him.

The lack of chemistry was very clear in episode 25, particularly during the bed scene. The dialogue felt awkward and unnatural, and instead of being romantic, it was just cringe and uncomfortable.

Episode 26 had the potential to create more tension, but certain elements ruined the moment, like the oversized watch Yu Tu was wearing, which distracted me completely and broke the scene’s impact.

That said, in the final episodes, there were small moments where their relationship started to feel more believable, and their physical attraction became more apparent. It was subtle, but you could finally sense some chemistry and mutual desire developing, though it still didn’t fully make up for the lack of emotional connection earlier in the drama.

Compared to my first C-Drama, Speed and Love, which had real romantic tension from start to finish, You Are My Glory felt forced in its romance, and many intimate scenes were awkward rather than engaging.

Overall, I didn’t find this drama captivating. Many parts felt slow and dull, to the point where I started skipping scenes.

Eventually, I emotionally checked out, and at a certain point, I simply gave up on the drama altogether. Despite its popularity, it wasn’t engaging enough to keep me invested.

Rating: 5.5/10
