The cultivation world is scary. They are all hungry for power. The, Sima Jiao who is not liked by the world and the heavens suddenly meets a partner who simply wants to enjoy what is there without thirsting for power. The fire meets the ice.
The chemistry between the two main actors is excellent and feels natural. Although there are many romantic scenes, I never got enough and always wanted them to be intimate with each other. Wang Yinglu's facial expressions are cute and adorable, but not childish. Arthur Chen's acting as a depressed man who loses his partner is also very detailed and touching .
They deserve a second drama together again.
33 episodes feels so short. I will rewatch this drama often.

Chen Feiyu and Wang Yinglu are dynamic pairing

In the jungle of typical red flag Xianxia MLs, Sima Jiao is the greatest green flag- like a breath of fresh air. I guess, this is one of the best romantic Xianxia dramas this year. Chen Feiyu's domineering charm carries such an aura as Sima Jiao that I could just look at him with my mouth gaping. Wang Yinglu's acting kept me laughing non-stop. They are dynamic pairing. Their chemistry is swoon-worthy. The storyline is good. The OSTs are great.
One thing I didn't like was that they reduced 40 episodes to 33. I wished that they had more episodes. I'm going to re-watch it slowly.

Simple and Elegant

Loved it. 💖.I started watching because of Arthur Chen.🥰 Loved him in Lighter&Princess. 🥰First time I saw this FL , she took me by surprised. Their onscreen chemistry clicked from their first scene together. The way they performed in scene were as they were very comfortable with each other. It felt realistic and natural.What I liked the most was there was no arrogant devil lord , I mean there was but not that which take 14 episode to smile or touch a FL. They went from strangers to friend to lovers smoothly without any extra fuss.That's what I loved the simplicity of story.

Arthur Chen , has his own arrogance there is some LORD aura you feel every time he appears on screen in any drama and that's what i like about him. He played a protective ,tender,fierce and not so possessive lover which was a new thing in these drama.Otherwise, the possessiveness irritates me that they cannot tolerate FL brothers also. Arthur Chen captured all the emotions so beautifully , making Sima Jiao respectfull and unforgettable.Keeping it real that its a drama .

The FL Wang Yinglu , this was first time I was watching her work and she was so convincing in her character she carried glimpses of a modern girl and a girl in ancient time together. The way she smoothly agreed to sleep with Sima Jiao to help him and with no regret she knew what she is doing and what she wants and was carefree about it . Unlike , in other drama which of course irritate me when they touch or kiss the Ml and throwing tantrum.. Some of the characters in the past really pissed me off.
She set a new standard for female character in chinese drama.

There is no toxic traits, no misunderstandings,no third party .Just simple healthy relationship.
The cutest part was otter and snake.I enjoyed that part so much.
So, satisfying drama with no emotional baggage and tons of crying. Every episode was entertaining .

Great xianxia with a lovely 3-lives romance (and a Must for Arthur Chen's fans)

PLOT:
[eps 1-19]: The ML, super-powerful and last descendant of the Sima family, is "chained" in his tower by the eight great families (for his blood and spiritual veins). The FL (a disillusioned office worker who had an accident) finds herself, a weak spirit, sent by her clan to serve this terrible master. She gradually heals him of his darkness and tries to help him defeat the Great Villain.
[eps 19-26]: 18 years later, the ML awakens (with difficulty coming to terms with the fusion of the two spiritual fires) and the FL, suffering from amnesia, is in the demon realm. The Great Villain pretends to be her father and trains her to kill. Several villains still want to kill Sima Jiao (fake father + demon Preceptor + love rival).
[eps 26-29]: Now a frozen fish (killer), the FL, loses control and seriously injures Sima Jiao. She becomes the Mistress Daemon and tries everything to save him. However, the ML ends up dying.
[eps 30-33]: The FL eventually finds the amnesiac ML among mortals. He's a young emperor threatened by his uncle (helped by You Yan, the spirit of the late demon king who has taken another body).

+++ A super cute CL with Arthur Chen, absolutely magnificent, powerful, and charismatic, and Wang Lin Yu, very natural. The chemistry is top-notch!
+++ Many excellent actors, very convincing in their roles.
+++ Well-written story, effective and fast-paced direction, superb cinematography, OSTs well-suited to the emotions, high-quality CGI.

### Lots of sweet scenes (Arthur Chen is a king kisser :), but the narrative is slow at times.
### CLICHE: Why do powerful MLs always have to be weakened by illness/poison/... and become vulnerable??
### CLICHE: Villains are always better informed/in the right place/luckier... than the good guys.
### Happy End but the ending is a bit rushed (I would have liked it to see a little longer in real life)

=> EXCELLENT ... and superb performances from the two leads.

PLOT:
[ép 1 - 19] : Le ML, super puissant et dernier descendant des Sima, est "enchainé" dans sa tour par les 8 gdes familles (pr son sang et les veines spirituelles). La FL (employée de bureau désabusée ayant eu 1 accident) se retrouve esprit faible envoyée par son clan, pour servir ce terrible maitre. Elle va peu à peu le guérir de sa darkness et essayer de l'aider à se défaire du Great Villain.
[ép 19 - 26] : 18 ans + tard, le ML se réveille (avec des difficultés à assumer la fusion des 2 feux spirituels) et la FL, amnésique, est au royaume des démons. Le Great Villain se fait passer pour son père et l'entraine à tuer. Plusieurs Villains veulent tjs tuer Sima Jiao (fake father + percepteur des Démons + love rival).
[ép 26 -29] : La FL, poisson givré, perd le contrôle et blesse gravement Sima Jiao. Elle devient la Mistress Daemon et tente tt pour le sauver. Cpdt, le ML finit par mourir.
[ép 30 -33] : La FL finit par retrouver le ML amnésique chez les mortels. C'est un jeune empereur menacé par son oncle (aidé par You Yan, l'esprit du vieux roi démon ayant pris un autre corps).

+++ Un CL super cute avec Arthur Chen absolument magnifique, puissant, charismatique, et Wang Lin Yu très naturelle. L'alchimie est top !
+++ Bcp d'excellents acteurs, très convaincants dans leur personnage.
+++ Story bien écrite, réalis° efficace et rythmée, superbe cinématographie, OSTs bien adaptées aux émotions, high quality CGI

### HE mais ending un peu hâtive (j'aurai aimé un peu plus long dans la vie réelle)

If I Don't Let You Die, then You Won't Die

Hi hi, welcome back to my review and I apologize for the delay in writing this review because either I'm just too lazy to do it or I'm in a very hectic schedule. Anyway, I'd completed 'When Destiny Brings the Demon' some time ago and I want to share my views about it. Let's rock, shall we?

The plot is centered around a love story of three lifetimes involving a transmigrated office worker who loves to slack off, Liao Tingyan and her hot-tempered yet vengeful 'big boss' in the cultivation world, Sima Jiao. At first, they never get along given their contrasting personalities. Furthermore, Tingyan's quirky attitude and modern slang keep Sima Jiao pondering why her behavior who this woman is actually. However, as they spend time together through the three lifetimes (involving amnesia and reincarnation trope), they begin to see the real them, heal each other's wound, and save the world from the purging evil forces, which aims to annihilate the two of them.

Personally, I feel that the story is kinda refreshing despite being some sort of a humdrum due to limited settings and backgrounds. Of all the arcs, the most boring one is probably the part when they have a grand battle with Shi Qianlv (exquisite CGI makes do of it so I won't be complaining no more) and also the one in the mortal world (I wish it could be removed from the script tho). Aside from these issues, I also want to see more screentime of the second couple. Other people may say that their relationship feels forced, but to me, it's a different case. Compared to the main couple, I prefer the second couple more (firstly, I like the actors. secondly, their awkward interaction creates slight sizzling chemistry, which is my cup of tea, of course).

Acting is quite decent with Wang Yinglu coming out as the MVP of the show. I first saw her in 'The Outcast/I am Nobody' as the emotionless Feng Baobao. Clearly, she is a very versatile actress and captures Liao Tingyan's essence in an engaging way. Meanwhile, her co-star, Chen Feiyu is also shining as the cold-outside-warm-outside Jiaojiao. At a first glance, Jiaojiao may appear as a bad-tempered jerk – but, don’t let that image fool you. He’s just a lonely boy who needs love and healing from someone he trusts, and surprisingly Liao Tingyan becomes his emotional anchor when he’s deep in trouble or facing his inner demons. Also, I need to specially mention Wang Yiting and Gao Han for becoming one of the best second couples that I’ve ever come across despite the limited screentime.

Costumes, props, background (limited places and sets – very obvious from the director of 'Love Rebellion', and CGI give off a mesmerizing appeal for the watchers while the color palette is seamlessly blended to fuse a better watching experience. If I must say, the OSTs are pretty heart-wrenching especially the one sung by Tia Ray and Huang Xiaoyun. On the other note, I’m also ogling for Liu Yuning’s song – and as usual, he never disappoints me.

Will I rewatch or not? This time my answer will be a no as it only serves as a one-time watch (to be honest, watching it for second time will make the show stale itself). However, for those who crave for a refreshing transmigration xianxia story with quirky main leads, then this show if for you. I guess that’s all for my review. A must watch

I have watched many chinese dramas over the years especially xianxia involving immortals and demons. Yet when I thought all immortal related xianxia always follows the same route this one hit different. This is no doubt one of the best, if not the best cdrama I have watched in recent month. It has firmly cemented itself as one of my top 5 cdramas.

I first saw Wang yin lu in the drama 'I am nobody' and I was sold on her acting and character. Liao tingyan, the character she played here is fluffy and lazy. She was not like the typical female leads in xianxia immortal dramas who are foolish and believes everything they are told.

Arthur Chen became one of my favorite actors since I watched Lighter and princess and his acting skills isnt in doubt. The character he potrayed was cold and unfeeling in the beginning, I loved how he was willing to bend his back to protect tingyan as the story went on
There was little to no misunderstanding in this drama which is rare in cultivation dramas. And thier love was the highlight.....oh so sweet. Their chemistry was top notch and so was their love through 3 lifetimes. I especially loved the human realm arc.
The suporting characters didn't disappoint at all.
All in all, if I could wipe my memory and rewatch this drama again, I would.
ITS JUST THAT GOOD.
