Chemistry died and it's body was never found.
It started out good alright. There was an interesting mystery, interesting conflict, interesting magic and fantasy elements. It was fun. But then what I thought was going to be the central conflict got resolved in like episode 3 and the next plotline that got introduced took everything to shit. The starting of this drama was VERY intense. There are mentions of heavy heavy child abuse, cannibalism, casual murder, gore, ptsd, and lots more. All things I do not mind if they serve a good purpose. They did seem to in the beginning, but it quickly devolved into 'look how tortured this guy is' and it was....icky. For all the complex backstory the ML had, the FL had NONE. No backstory. She just got truck-kuned into this fantasy world and she just wants to eat well sleep well and "vacation" all the time. Which, fair irl but really?
She also had no ambitions or purpose or motivation and he just falls for her BECAUSE she's so bland-- like 💀 really? I felt weirded out by how truly girl give us nothing she was. No human should be THIS bland I feel like Water has more variety and flavour than her. Her most interesting personality trait is that she talks in modern slang and no one can understand her- isn't that so funny haha-- 💀💀 That's one of my biggest pet peeves. At one point they use mirrors to communicate and she goes "omg a video call" to which the ML says 'What's a video call' and she goes on to describe it 🤦🏻♀️. I was cringing so hard the entire time 🫥. No normal person should be this bland. Like was she a blank slate in her modern day life?? Does she not have anyone she misses? She did not seem like a real person to me. Just a "teeheehee i'm so quirky" cardboard cutout for the ML to smooch.
And of course because she wasn't a fully realised character, they had NO chemistry. None. I waited for the kiss scenes cause I thought it would get better but it got worse??? The kiss scenes looked so forced & awkward. They jumped out of nowhere and I was like alright I guess they're in love now. Literally the 13-15 episodes go like 'he goes and does cool things and returns home and they kiss omg isn't that cute'-- NO IT'S NOT. What does she even do when he's not around?? DRAW EMOJIS WITH MAGIC IN THE AIR, seriously. And then of course she goes ahead and describes what emojis are--- 🥴😭
The acting wasn't particularly good either. So many scenes looked awkward af. Mostly because of bad writing but I wasn't impressed with the acting either. Nor the Main Characters nor the side characters. Especially the serpent character I felt so taken out because his acting was SO awkward. i think they did the best they could with the writing they were given but yeah. It was BAD.
Also they just forgot their own magic rules ALL THE TIME. At some point two characters go 'omg look blood but the trail stops here that's so weird why did the blood trail stop" Did you all forget you can FLY when you were having battles in the air 5 minutes ago???????? 💀
I am astonished by how SPECTACULARLY this failed. It was so bad that I stopped procrastinating and started studying 😭 So I guess I recommend it if you want to stop watching dramas Lmao
Don't waste your time in here. There's nothing. Till the end of the moon scratches the same itch and it was much better.

A Must Watch But....
What happened to this year?? SERIOUSLY best xianxia and drama month by month a must watch .I am not a fan of Chen but this drama is the best and FL done her character perfectly..best CGi
I started episode 1 I wonder how I end up in 9-10 plot keep interesting somewhat similar to love between fairy and devil( dragon-snake, hell flame -spirit fire 70k something yrs-500yrs)
Okk....I just want to know why xianxia writers always want a weak, clingy, dumb FL??? Instead of powerful or atleast normal?? As per the formula of xianxia dramas WDBTD also have Immortal -demon relationship, reincarnation, amnesia but that's not a problem after 27-28 episodes the story not moving remains the same ML repeatedly dying, rebirth, at some point I lost all my emotions and unable to carryon because I know what will the next , FL have 3 identity which I got bored but when she had amnesia she still trust him and didn't hurt his feelings when she forgot him completely.
(This is my opinion don't mind me)
I know if we want to watch xianxia should not expect logic and lock your brains if you are a fan of Chen this is a best wonderful drama for you.
Happy watching

What A Gem!
Someone tell me, How does one even start to review a masterpiece?!!! This drama is such a gem among the many dramas of the year. Everything in it deserves a chef's kiss. The synopsis doesn't do justice to the fully immersive world that this drama creates. The world building is just on another level. The plot armor was solid from the start to the end. It is so wholesome that you would have to be very picky to notice anything amiss. I just loved how they fleshed out all the characters, villains and heroes alike. Everyone's story was so seamlessly organic for a fictional world in a transmigration trope. I enjoyed how much thought they put in the villains and the ends they all met such that by the end of the drama all loose ends are tied up nicely. Some parts of the story seemed repetitive, but considering the major villains weren't changing, you can't possibly expect anything new out of their plotting to get SJ's blood. Even the ML said so himself!
The growth of the main characters was also organic and very refreshing to watch. The FL stayed true to her true character from having lived in the modern world and true to her word, just takes it as a vacation from her everyday life - a true salted fish. The fact that she doesn't need to change who she is for other people and doesn't impose her ideologies on other people who couldn't relate to her thought process was a plus in my books. She instead communicates her thoughts and lets other people decide for themselves what to do. This worked perfectly with the ML's setting, bringing warmth and the drive to evolve from his desolate life.
The romance... Oh! The romance! It was just so beautifully delivered. The skinship! The palyfulness! Chef's kiss - Mwaah! It was so simple, so beautiful, so deep, so pure and so refreshing. There were no messy love triangles, and unnecesary misunderstandings to make the romance murky, and it was such a good call from the directors/producers. The plotting was left to the villains and counterattacks. They have just proved that open communication can make such a drama even more romantic than the usual angst or push and pull you would expect. It makes you fall in love with the bubble it creates around them that other people can't penetrate.
Overall, the drama is amazing, an absolute must watch! We absolutely deserve a filler episode of the main couple in the modern world, but the ending is acceptable.

Fantastic drama
one of the best wuxia drama I’ve watched. The chemistry between the lead couple is indeed palpable. The story is great and well acted by the cast specially the main couple. Such a fun interpretation of Reincarnation and time travel and an intense love. The sound tracks are fantastic too. The ending is quite acceptable to me though it’s a bit too rushed. Arthur Chen proved how good an actor he is once again. 11/10 💖💖💖💖💖Was this review helpful to you?

It's nothing like what you had expected
I just happen to see this drama, I had no high expectations buh the acting of the FL suddenly ignited my interest and being that she was different from other actress, to me she had a new look. Acted truly like someone who was in a new world and does not want to belong in there...I got hooked till the end. I would have said much buh I've commented and cried with others. This drama was just too good...the kisses were real, no awkward moments or pauses after every kissing scenes and that was what made this drama stand out for me personally amongst many. Was this review helpful to you?
multiple amnesia
This drama was great up until half of it. Then it started with the amnesia and it became ok. But after a few episodes, it was clear they have lost the plot, seemed they were just making things up as the go. Almost dying and sob fest multiple times. Finally… Death. Another amnesia. Another death. Perhaps another amnesia? They’ve left for the viewers to have a conclusion by the end. It was really tiring and frustrating, as I liked the main couple a lot. So since I liked only the first half, just half the stars for this. Was this review helpful to you?
Perfection to its finest
The drama is really EXCITING AND PERFECT! The combination of patience, trust and of course LOVE despite of their differences; is really ADMIRABLE!!!I love how the FL portray her role and how cute she is and of course nothing can beat for my 1st born online son Chen Feiyu, he did a SPLENDID job on his role (Sima Jiao).

Especially to those who believe there’s more to love and destiny than meets the eye.
“But above all, I wish that God may take care of you and continue to protect you, even beyond the limits where I can no longer go…”This was one of the phrases I once received from a dear friend in the past, and I have carried it with me, close to my heart, wherever I go… That is more or less what this drama represented to me. A message of immeasurable love, one that neither time nor space can ever erase.
It began as just another Xianxia, filled with revenge, melodrama, sovereign gods, terrifying demons, and stylish celestial battles, but slowly it transformed into one of the sweetest love stories among the latest c-dramas.
Rarely have I had the pleasure of following such a captivating couple. Affection, tender touches, and kisses were present in nearly every episode from the moment they first came together. In a few words, I can say it was intoxicating, charismatic, and truly addictive.
I’ve thought this before, and every time I watch a production like this, I can’t help but think it again: even if I spend the next tem years of my life watching Chinese dramas, I will still not truly grasp this culture, this spectrum of productions, and this vast range of artistic talent that sustains them. It’s surreal!
As for Arthur Chen, this god of beauty—majestic and imposing no matter the role—this was actually my first time watching one of his dramas. I’ve been eagerly awaiting China’s release of *Immortality*, na original BL work (censored, of course, but adapted as bromance) based on the web novel *The Husky and His White Cat Shizun* by the phenomenal author Meatbun. In that story, Arthur Chen plays Mo Ran, disciple of Chu Wanning. I’ve read the books and I’m waiting with great anticipation for the drama.
So, when I saw that *When Destiny Brings the Demon* starred Arthur Chen, I decided to watch it in na attempt to ease my anxious wait a little. To my surprise, I ended up falling equally in love with his partner in the story. Wang Yinglu plays three different characters, and she is absolutely dazzling. Beautiful, funny, moving, and with a unique chemistry alongside Arthur Chen. I had also never seen any of her works before, and I don’t know much about her other roles, but here she was simply wonderful.
It’s true that in the first arc of the story, both Arthur Chen and Wang Yinglu faced a greater challenge, since it was longer and more intense, but I loved all three arcs almost equally, as well as the changes in their characters.
If I have one complaint about the production, it would be the distribution of time between arcs. The first, in the Immortal Realm, was perfect. The second, in the Demon Realm, could have been shorter. The third, in the Mortal Realm, was not enough. The story set in the empire was intriguing and deserved better development. And the time given to their reunion in the modern era was far too brief. I wanted more, much more.
Yes, the plot had a few flaws—it’s true—but the main elements were completely satisfying: from the costumes, setting, and OST, to the dialogues and directing. At first, I thought of giving it a nine, but in the end, I gave it a tem. It’s not every day that a drama holds you from beginning to end with such lovable characters and moments of pure delight.
As always, it’s hard to say goodbye, but what can we do? As the story itself showed us on many occasions, no pain surpasses the pain of parting. I’ll continue here on my solitary journey, hoping that the wait will one day end in a destined reunion.
A beautiful drama. I wholeheartedly recommend it, especially to those who believe in things far beyond what our eyes can see or our imagination can reach.

I’m so inlove with this C-drama!
The drama presents a love story that transcends time and space. The storyline is solid, with good world-building and plot twists. The integration of modern "salted fish" philosophy (a desire for a peaceful, unambitious life) into the Xianxia world is innovative and relatable, especially for office workers. Was this review helpful to you?
Lighthearted fantasy and adorable drama.
I really enjoyed When Destiny Brings the Demon much more than I expected. The female lead is so relatable and absolutely adorable, she brings such a natural charm that makes the whole story fun and easy to follow.
She’s witty, warm and full of little quirks that make her feel refreshing as a xianxia heroine.
The chemistry between the leads is definitely one of the biggest highlights, they’re super cute together and their dynamic really carries the drama.
I also liked how the show balanced humor with romance while wrapping it all in beautiful visuals and an OST that perfectly fits the fantasy atmosphere.
As for Chen Feiyu, he does come across a little stiff at times but I feel it has more to do with his character’s personality and background than his acting, so I was able to accept it as part of the role.
If you’re someone who enjoys romance-driven xianxia, transmigration plots and fated love stories with a mix of sweetness and comedy, I would definitely recommend giving this one a try.
