✒♥️Double Blind Taste Test♨️ °Good for romance junkies°

In the final analysis, BP is a typical Golden Corral spread in which a great chef snuck in and put out a few tasty small plates. Watch to be treated to some of the most romantic words a woman can hear: "What do this credit card & my love for you have in common? They both have no limit." Swoon away, ladies!

I'm irritated. This show is horribly cliche, yet I continued to watch it and like it, for the most part. They gave just enough to keep me going, while at the same time, they revealed how pathetically low my standards are. It really p!$$e$ me off. Going into ep4 I was almost embarrassed for myself. Basically, if you're not a romance junkie, don't watch this. It is not for you. For you romance fans, failings aside, this pair releases dopamine. That's what us junkies crave, and it's the only reason to stick with this formulaic, inconsistent show.

BP might be off-the-rack, but the leads are special. Let's meet them. Ahn Hyo Seop (A Time Called You, Dr. Romantic) is ML, Kang “Tae” Mu. His grandfather is the CEO. Grandpa feels responsible for his orphaned grandson. He wants him 💒married💍. He wants grandkids 👶🚼👶 GREAT-grandkids. Their due-dates are overdue. But Tae is very much an Iceman. He's cold and he doesn't know how to treat a lady. Kim Se Jeong (Uncanny counter S1-8.4 S2-4) is Sin Hari. She's like the girl next door, but she can put on a show, both IRL and also on the dining room table. She sings, she acts, and she cooks like a master. She has a spark and her voice has a throaty resonance that's pleasant to the ears.

Hari is, otherwise, a common girl from a common family. Her job is coming up with new recipes & food ideas as well as packaging innovations ~~> at Tae’s grandfather's company! She's excellent at what she does. What isn't so common about Hari is how she's 1-degree of separation from Kcountry's 1% by way of her rich BFF. Seol In Ah from Twinkling Watermelon & the fabulous Mr. Queen-9, in which she plays a demure lady of the court, portrays Jin Yeong “Seo”. Hari met this heiress-with-a-heart-of-gold at performing arts HS, which is plausible. Seo’s father wants her hitched, and he's been trying to fix her up in a business arranged 🤵👰. She ain't interested. Grandpa's got blind dates lined up for Tae. Dad has blind dates lined up for Seo. What dad don't know is that Seo NEVER goes on her own blind dates! Hari goes as Seo, because Hari is a superb actress, and she knows how to send those rich dweebs running for the hills.

Inevitability comes knocking. When Seo’s dad and Tae’s granddad arrange a date for the two of them, Hari only asks: “Who is it this time?” ‘Oh I don't know; just some schlep from some rich family. Just go take care of him for me, please!’ Seo's answer is something like that. When Hari's date… eh, I mean Seo's date, walks into the restaurant, Hari realizes it's the president of her company😳! Yes, she wore a wig and she looks outrageous, but he's likely to recognize her if he sees her at work. She'll have to make this one quick!💨 Sorry, Hari. This one's for life.

It isn't so much a Pride and Prejudice romance; it's a straight power flip. He's the all-cold, all-business dude with all the power. Her job is to repulse him when she poses as his blind date. After a short night out with her, he's /supposed/ to jump in his hot car and take off without a look back. Instead, though his reasons are murky and clearly driven by his subconscious, he latches onto Hari. For the date, she played a classless harpy with big hair, big jewelry, and big lungs. He was supposed to be horrified. He goes home thinking maybe she's the one! He wants to see her again. There's always a reason to use (see) her again. All she wants is escape. Step by step, he begins pursuit and she plots escape routes. She doesn't realize that he's already ceded power to her. He wants to date her so he can stop all the blind dates, he tells himself. When he learns she isn't Seo, she cops to being an actress and provides a fake name. Alright. Fine. She's an actress, not an heiress. We've all heard of play-dates: He offers to PAY her to DATE him. Her parents happen to need buckets of duckets, so she agrees.

At some point his greatest fear is how he's going to develop a real relationship with her. At the same time, her biggest fear is getting fired. Needless to say, they have a side dish of disconnect to go with their stew of fascination. The show is about taste, and Tae looks like he tastes good 🙄. Actually, they objectify him to the point where it is uncomfortable. It's almost a parody. As beautiful as Mr. Ahn is, the women steal the show. Their personalities and friendship are highlights. Seo is adorable.

The 2ndary couple get off to a front-and-center start, and their romance doesn't feel like an afterthought. Seo meets Tae’s secretary, Cha Seong Hun (Kim Min Gue from Queen: Love and War. He plays a lady killer in Because This is My First Life-7.7). She falls for him instantly and realizes who he is when she meets him again later. These 2 could have stood for more screen time, actually. There were some missed opportunities, and they actually had the groundwork for more episodes if they had let it breathe more.

The actors are not the reason BP has problems. They did fine. It's the dialogue, the directing, and half of the plot that suffers. True, Hari's spastic attempts to cover up her identity are annoying. Fortunately, it doesn't go on for even half of the show. Viewers might be able to relax more knowing this. Besides the boilerplate CEO-involved-with-the-girl-next-door, the show also tosses in other common-as-kimchi plot points. We see MSP (Missing or separated parent(s) and MSS, or mandatory separation syndrome, which is when a couple, once they get together, must separate. ('I love you! Finally, we're together! Now I'll catch you later...' Huh? It's overused). BP isn't bad, it should just be better. It's marshmallow frosting without cake. Plenty of worse shows have more substance, but shows like BP have their place, particularly if one needs to escape anxiety, not add to it.

Part of the story involves illegal taping of women via surreptitiously planted cameras. The penalties don't even rise to the level where they can put the perpetrator in jail! The women suffer trauma, not feeling easy anywhere they are for fear of being watched, yet the law does nothing to protect them. Women's rights are a hot-button topic in Asia because they are decades behind the West in those traditionally heavily patriarchal societies.

BP has its taste sensations. There's clever foreshadowing, foreboding statements that are true in a way other than expected, and other crafty connections. It's not devoid of quality elements. Somewhere around ep5&6, when he decides on his objective, it does get amusing. In ep9 we see some legendary drink making. After their first kiss, which is not in the usual context, there's shots of them lying in their respective beds, split-screen, touching their lips thinking about it. Together, their heads form a heart. It's nicely done. There are several comments about how their relationship mirrors one from a current TV drama about the daughter of chicken joint owners and her own boss. Perhaps the cutest bit is when he starts to resent her boss and the policies of the company she works for (her job is messing up his dating plans!). He never puts together that it's HIM and HIS company that's impeding on his love life.

If they really had wanted to have fun with it, he would have mischievously asked her to put that big-hair wig on again…

nerdy dude with glasses will be meters away from me

Guess you can tell I love the second couple more than the first hehehehe. This is my first k-drama and I found it cute and fun, but nothing outstanding. It was filled with cliches that usually made me cringe, but I am the cringe. I still liked the main couple though. But the music is so peak, ALL THE SONGS ARE SO GOOD!!! I also just love Kim Sejeong and love some of her songs. I also think the casting is amazing too because Ahn Hyo-Seop with his hair down is chef's kiss. <3

One of the best rom-coms

This drama was honestly a very big surprise for me. At first I had ignored it because I didn't really know anyone in the cast apart from Kim Mingue, but I decided to watch it after I had seen so many people praising the chemistry between the leads - and they were right for doing so!

This drama has an amazing cast which does such good job at portraying the roles. Not only the romance is incredible, but also the friendships. There were pure friendships, where people support each other, listen to each other, have fun and -sometimes- get drunk XD

When people say that this drama is like a cup of hot chocolate during the cold winter, they are absolutely right! This drama immediately improves your mood and it is just what you need as a break from the stress of daily life thanks to its lighthearted nature and easy-to-follow plot.

I totally recommend this to everyone!

Cliché, BUT good!

'A Business Proposal' is THE prime example of how you should write a cliché story! I mean, this show didn't change the genre or the world, BUT the fact that every episode contained more cliché than other shows in 16 episode overall and still remained good, says a LOT about the writers! Only for this, it's worth a 6/10 rating. I didn't mention the fantastic acting, OST and the direction! The use of editing and VFX is one of the best I've seen so far! I don't want to speak too much about the story because it's a typical love story, and let's be honest, it's not good because of the story, it's good because of the way they made it. People who didn't watch it yet, will love it more if they will know most important thing about this show: It's basically a parody of the romcom genre!

My only complaint, as usual, is that the finale was a complete MESS! Never going to understand why they want to finish the story in almost every KDrama in the finale, when they obviously don't have enough time for that. Also, I'm not familiar with the Manhwa, but I know that the show didn't cover half of the story. That's why I'm still hoping that they will do a 2nd season someday, but they probably won't, because if they would want to, we would've heard about that now.

A heartwarming cliche

This show was so heartwarming and funny. The relationships are well thought out and developed. The is the right way to do a cliche. There were also some very sexy scenes in the show. Nothing too graphic though. It definitely felt like you were seeing every side to their relationship. Every episode keeps you on your toes and going for more. Overall, this is a very heartwarming and funny romcom cliche with a bit of a mature side. This show is very balanced as well, and places every scene at it's needed time. I love the way the relationships were portrayed and think they did a very good job adapting this webcomic. I highly recommend it!

perfect romantic comedy

if you love romance you must watch this one.
everything is just RIGHT in this comedy. it's easy to watch, it's light, it's funny, there is the right amount of turn around, the right amount of laughs and you have characters' development. it's full of cliches, but it is so well done that everything just slide down the throat.

synopsis; Hari and Youngseo are best friends since school. but, if Youngseo is a chaebol (a rich heir), Hari's parents run a fried chicken restaurant and have a lot of debts. she works in a big corporate as food researcher and support her parents. one day Youngseo ask Hari to go to a blind date in her name and do whatever is needed to push the pretender away... the problem is, the so called pretender has already decided to marry whoever will show up at his first blind date.

what I liked; the 2 main leads know how to kiss. It was my first time watching a Korean drama and being excited by the loving touch of the actors. Koreans actors don’t know how to kiss, but I promise these two do. just because of that, this drama is now one of my favorites.
what I didn't like; the end was a little short and lacked a sense of closure.

when to watch; not for under 15 viewers (sex scenes).
go all in and invite your lover. you will have a good time! say hi to Samantha and Rachel for me!

Not really hit my expectations but great series.

Since this series is really popular, I decided to watch this. But it felt like a typical 2010s office romance. But loved the dynamics of the main characters. Perfect cast, no actors would have done it better than them. A great series which would make you have big nostalgia..................................................................

Funny but lacking some depth

Summary: (some graphic scenes) This is one of the most hilarious romcoms I’ve seen! Along with the heartwarming element (tragic family past), there were eccentric characters, excessive use of English (just because they can), and parody of Korean dramas by featuring a TV show that was nearly similar to the leads’ reality. I wish there were more than 12 episodes and felt the last one was a bit weak (especially romance wise), considering all the hype that led up to it, and felt they could have cut out some graphic portions to focus more on character development and depth of the two leads.

Details: It’s funny seeing poor Shin Ha-ri try to match wits with Kang Tae-moo as she gets entangled in ever spiraling bad situations and lies, like pretty much every heroine in these kinds of dramas. I will never look at the word “archaeopteryx” the same again. Lololol. I felt bad for but also frustrated at the female lead’s overreactions to things, like in trying to prevent certain people from recognizing her. This made for great situational comedy but got tiring after multiple scenes. Sometimes there seemed to be inconsistency in the character personalities (anxious/greedy vs. sacrificial). I think my favorite scenes were when Kang Tae-moo came to Shin Ha-ri’s rescue by helping her save face in a very awkward situation and when Shin Ha-ri comforted Kang Tae-moo through his heartbreak in a sweet, tear-jerking moment between the two.

Critiques: The filmmakers could have fleshed out more of the storyline or plot development instead of spending several minutes on kissing (or other more graphic) scenes. For example:
- the details of both leads’ pasts were explained in such a choppy way
- the one-on-one conversations between the Shin Ha-ri and Kang Tae-moo’s key relative seemed pointless since it never led to a plot twist (like misunderstanding/separation between the newly in-love leads) or even revelation in the storyline
- there was a strange body/hair gesture thing of the male lead that was never explained but just disappeared suddenly
- there were also unrealistic situations like how a character could be heavily injured in one moment and totally fine in the next, or suddenly cured from a psychological condition they’ve suffered for several years.

Those missing types of details irk me a bit. Also, I’m not sure if this is a cultural thing but I was surprised at Shin Ha-ri’s parents’ dramatic reaction to her love life, considering that she was a grown adult with her own career. My Korean spouse did confirm that that kind of reaction seems unusual or excessive.

Because there was less focus on the leads’ depth, growth, or evolution — just more lies on top of lies, the last episode seemed rushed by trying to throw in a dry plot twist leading to an uneventful conclusion that makes it difficult to attach to the characters in the end. I would have loved to see their love story brought back to the location of their workplace (and with that important relative), which was where a lot of scenes (and shaming and shenanigans) took place. Overall, I enjoyed most of this series. They definitely could have fleshed out the story into the standard 16 episodes. XD

Side Note: Kim Se Jeong bares a beautiful, striking resemblance to Kate Hudson :-0 (especially when dressed up as the character’s alter ego)

Funny but cheesy and predictable!

Funny but cheesy and predictable! I think the pace was also too slow for me.. They could've added more scenes instead of dragging certain scenes and then finishing it off quickly.
The first episodes were refreshing and makes you expect much more than what the series actually delivers. However, few episodes in and you can already predict the ending.
If bored and has nothing else to watch then this is for you, because it has funny and cute scenes, but sometimes it can get a bit too cheesy.

Goofy show that you don’t want to miss (have a great comedy and romance)

Just like the title it’s just a goofy show. I was chilling and watching it and it was really good. Missed the main female protagonist and her cuteness after the show. Really enjoyed my time watching it
If you are looking for something romance to chill this show is for you. Fun story and funny characters very good watch

P.s: I have to updated my overall ratings form 8 to 9 because of how much I missed the comedy of the show. I usually don’t tend to go back and rewatch a show specially if I just watched it but I really missed to comedy of this show

Samantha and Rachel, the Twins

Funny Cliché Story much much tamer than the Webtoon

I did a major eye roll when starting this with GF, it was going to be another cold good looking Chaebol Heir falling head over heels with poor or average girl because she's so special. I mean that is soooo gonna happen right?

It turned out to be better than expected. No thinking required for this type of cliché drama. It pokes fun of typical Asian drama clichés and at itself. There were some absolutely hilarious scenes in the first half of the show. The first blind date was pee in your pants funny. That scene really nailed it. Samantha and Rachel? Who was the writer who thought of that? Let's just say the FL violated every proper and conservative S. Korean blind date etiquette. WOWZA for the FL's clothing choices in the dates. The drunken scene of the two FLs was pretty comedic, they are two really cute girls. The chemistry between the leads was good for the most part.

I would say probably about 3/4 of it was funny and kept your attention. As it got down to the last few episodes, it wasn't that great and felt like the gas ran out. Things felt kind of forced for closure and between the leads.

It's a light hearted funny show that is worth watching for some laughs and to lighten one's mood.
