Sequel got bigger fights, new villains... but forgot half the emotional soul in the process
Raw Action, Ambitious Scope, but Emotionally Hollow in Too Many Places✨ THE GOOD:
Park Ji‑hoon still kills it as Si‑eun—quiet, haunted, and operating on pain-induced autopilot. He’s carried this world, again.
allkpop
Fight choreography = fire — punishing, precise, and still the show’s undeniable highlight.
New cast adds flavor — Ryeoun as Baku, Lee Min‑jae as Gotak, and Lee Jun‑young’s Wolf Keum bring energy… when there’s time to breathe.
The Financial Express
🤯 THE “WAIT, WHERE DID THAT PLOT GO?” MOMENTS:
Terrible pacing — Eight episodes to tell a blazing webtoon arc? Plot raced ahead and left emotion eating dust.
India Today
Most new characters flat AF — There was talk of a redemption arc, but we got nothing but forced tension and wasted potential.
But Why Tho?
Emotional depth missing — It’s bigger, but emptier. Season 2 wanted epic; got flat.
🧠 THE “NERDS THAT FIGHT” FACTOR:
Si‑eun’s still our brainy bruiser, quietly narrating trauma in fight-induced voiceovers.
Geum Sung‑jae (Wolf) is psychologically unhinged perfection — instant standout villain, even if cameo-length.
Kdrama Reviews
Plot ambition? Great on paper. Execution? Like sprinting with a backpack full of rocks.
🎯 VERDICT:
“Like upgrading to an LED bulb—flashier, but somehow less cozy than your old lamp.”
Watch if: You crave elite K‑drama fight scenes, tight male friendships, and can stomach an emotional void.
Skip if: You want real character arcs, pacing that doesn’t sprint and stall, or any promised depth delivered.
Best paired with: 🥊 A clenched fist, mental armor, and zero expectations for a satisfying payoff.

it shows about dominance for survival without any illegalities. bond of friendship that it is above from every thing.
overall, it is must watch drama and still WAITING FOR SEASON 3 , i'dont know how time it will take to wait . hope for the best

Steers from the tone and atmosphere of season 1
Scope expansion in sequels is a common thing, but at times can be really harmful. Bigger does not always equal better, and Weak Hero Class 1's smaller scope and more personal story of friendship, bullying and betrayal was one that hit a lot harder and had me far more invested.Weak Hero Class 2 is a fun short little action show with some heartfelt scenes but at the same time it is one that just becomes comically absurd that it enters into borderline fantasy story. Whole highschool mafia and childhood connection bull, the one note characters with 1 or 2 personality traits that are barely explored due to the time constraints, the show is trying to do everything all at once and didn't succeed in excelling in anything.
What were very fun and brutal action scenes in the first season that featured brutal hits that held weight and dealt damage, Season 2 opts to make every character take superhero levels of damage. The coreography is fun but the hits hold no weight, no meaning, what's 1 shot to the knee versus like 50?
It's a betrayal to the core of the first season, but as its own fun short highschool bromance romp it has its charm.

MY SHAYLAS—I Missed Them More Than I Realized
I've been anticipating this ever since I finished watching Season 1 a few years ago. I'm so glad to see Sieun with new friends he can rely on, and have fun with. Good thing I didn’t read the manhwa—I probably would’ve felt disappointed if Netflix hadn’t adapted it correctly. I burst out crying when I saw Suho awake! I’ve never felt genuine concern over a Kdrama character as much as I care for Suho and Sieun. The new cast addition was really great—so nice to see Ryeoun in this! Was this review helpful to you?
Stoic Power
I enjoyed this series more than rhe first as I felt this story runs in a more believabke sequence. Acting was really strong throughout I thought.Likes: the soundtrack is hot! Cinematography and colour palette were gorgeous.
Not so much: actually enjoyed most of it but I’m an all action fan tbh.

alvin theodore simon and...?
(explaining the title: i was trying to think of them as Alvin and the chipmunks 😭 Baku would be Alvin, Sieun would be Simon and JunTae would be Theodore. but what about he's like an Alvin but at the same time there's Baku... so I don't know.)~~~~~~~~~~~
i don't have much to say about the acting, it's just, amazing! how they are so good!?
visual effects are so-so.
let's be honest, sometimes they would get freaking destroyed but absolutely no wound wouls appear.
for an example, when baek jin was hit 4x (i guess) in the face by Sieun, wearing a DAMN BRASS KNUCKLES and guess whaaat? NOO BLOOD! not even a scratch! 😭
anyways, production is good and ost...is just. amazing. i. love. the. opening. music. wow.
now, story. s1 had a great construction, it even made me cry my eyeballs out and wait anxiously for a s2. but i'm gonna be honest, s2 was not so good. i don't know if it has something to do with the webtoon or if it's the live action instead.
like, why there's no explanation of what beef baku and baek jin had? how the freak did baek jin died? how and why baek jin was working with the mafia? where's Sieun's father? (on s1 he was there, and the mother wasn't, now on s2 his mother is there and his father isn't 😭??) why Beom Seok was the one who appeared in Sieun's dream? why he wanted him to stay? why Gotak didn't get a proper development? he was just...there. he is, unfortunately, what the Association members said, "Baku's puppet" 😭
and why, whyyy Sieun just stood there when Suho woke up? wasn't he desperately waiting for him to wake up? bro, c'mon, give him a hug!! cry in his arms lol😭 (it would make a lot of us cry, which is good!!) and ah, have at lot of other questions...
i hope we can get a s3, but my hopes are not that high, as they was for s2

Good Drama
I always write my thoughts a bit later to let things cool down and see what I might miss. I know a lot thinks is rushed (yes is a bit, and they could have added a bit more regarding the ending credits that viewers to not feel empty)I noticed many were annoyed Sieun didn't fight back much at least in the first part (lets not forget he was never a fighter and when does fight, he cheats and can actually harm someone badly).
His rage suppressed and emotional state shows the most in the fights.
While he vows to not, in his mind the urge is always there (the scene on the stairs when he wanted to stab was so huge, but hold on)
The MC is a traumatized kid from past events and the guilt is huge. His parents never understood him. While his father said it was not his fault, I doubt it was with all his heart.
The mother thought it was her fault, but never stood and heard her soon, to understand who is with reality., same goes with the father. Same goes for Baku's father. Si eun had to slit open his eyes a bit to see his son is not a bad kid how he saw him. Comparing him with his mother, only because he never tried to reach him is harsh.
Had to be some knew kids with who he befriend to tell him that with sincerity.
I do agree on one matter, although: they could have fleshed out more the main character's background.
We know Baku and Baek jin were friendly, but it seems they didn't know much about them. No communication at all between them.
A bit more about Gotak and Seong Je. We only know they fought and last destroyed his knee.
I liked the bond he formed with his new friends and that in the end he had the courage to enter his BBF hospital room.
As I said, Si eun never was a fighter, but used his brain to defeat his opponents. Practically, he disabled Baek Jin, which might have sent him to his dismissal, because he could not fight 100% for his life.
Yes, in the webtoon he died hit by the trunk of doom, but in the manwha by the hand of the gangster he worked under.
Good season. The emotions, the fights, the east were on point.
New place, new friends, new personalities.
It was less violent, some say, but I think it was equal in a way, but I felt it had more depth to the MC character.
A rant of mine: ppl saying the actors looked old, GEE, why does nobody rant on the romcoms when most are OLD when they play students?

More action, less substance.
I watched WHC1 in early 2023. Contrary to most viewers' perspectives, I didn't like it all that much. Action wasn't usually my thing, and the writing felt like it was missing something. However, I did enjoy the commentary on bullying.WHC2 upgrades the action from Season 1, where the fight scenes were amazingly directed. I thought it was more entertaining and that the acting was brilliant, especially coming from the villains. I think Season 1 did a better job at character development, but I felt that there was little here, surprisingly.
I decided to watch S2 to see Si-eun grow, and as much as we see his incredible stamina and loyalty to his friends, there wasn't much to say about his character. In S1, we saw how bullying affected students in South Korea, with the addition of gangsters, making it difficult for them to speak about it. Si-eun, as the main character, provided significance to this issue without his character fitting stereotypes. He is obviously intelligent, too, but that felt underutilized. This increased mine and the rest of the viewers' anticipation for Class Two with a different but interesting cast.
The story was more or less action. The villains were two-dimensional to me, and although I didn't like Beom-seok from S1 at all, I could understand where people's sympathy for him came from. Here, Na Baek-jin's character was boring and didn't have a clear motive for starting the Union or having anything to do with it. Baku made me smile a lot, but there still wasn't anything to work on with him besides his relationship with Baek-jin. Go-tak and Jun-tae were a rather adorable duo.
Anyways, I liked the fight scenes. Sadly, there was nothing to go on with the story. Worth a watch.

SAME SIMILAR SCHOOL BULLYING PLOTS!! ??
Was it good? Yes! will I rewatch it again? No! was it better than the season 1? Hell no!
The plot felt like I was watching study group with minimal wow moments. The organised school gang, and so many scenes were all similar to study group!
I love the main villain but hopefully they leave him without the school uniform.
SiEun storyline was made to surround SuHo, only for them to make their meeting soulless and bland!! It just felt like the scene was thrown in to please the fans.
I think am tired of the good boys group having 1 great fighter, 1 good fighter, 1 semi good but stil gets beaten up and then 1 loser who doesn’t know how to throw a punch!
At the end, it was a good drama and I loved seeing the faces of the actors!!

I preface this by saying I really liked the 1st series and did not think the story warrranted a 2nd series. I haven't read the webtoon so maybe by that standard it did. I did overall like this series but I don't think the story is as well thought out as the 1st series. The best part of the series is Si Eun. Those episode with Park Ji Hoon, carrying that emotional weight elevates the show a for me. I almost wished they had focused more on his recovery in a less violent way. I Still gave the seris a 7 b/c I did like the bromance and frienships developing with Si Eun, Baku, Go Tak and Jun Tae and it's a qucik and easy binge.
A ton of things were left unanswerd or unexplained. Or maybe I just didn't understand the relationship between Baku and Baek Jin. I also did not undertand the point of the Seung Je character.

Slightly disappointed....
Weak Hero Class 2 tries to pick up where its compelling predecessor left off, but unfortunately, it struggles to maintain the same sharp edge that made season 1 so captivating. While the first season delivered a gritty, emotionally charged exploration of bullying, resilience, and moral ambiguity, the sequel feels somewhat disjointed and less focused. One of the biggest disappointments is the pacing. The narrative in season 2 feels rushed, with certain character arcs either underdeveloped or abruptly concluded. This leaves viewers feeling a bit disconnected from the characters’ journeys, and the stakes don’t seem as organic or intense as they were before. The tone, which was once raw and visceral, now occasionally veers into melodrama, diluting the impact of key moments.
Acting-wise, there are some solid performances, but the chemistry among characters isn’t as compelling. The show seems to rely more on shock value and stylized violence rather than genuine emotional depth, which was the heart of season 1’s power. The direction and cinematography still have their moments, but they lack the inventive flair and emotional resonance that made the original so visually striking.
On a positive note, the series still tackles important themes bullying, social hierarchies, and moral choices and it raises awareness about these issues, albeit with a somewhat superficial touch at times. The score and production design continue to support the story, but they can’t quite elevate the overall experience to the same level as season 1.
In essence, Weak Hero Class 2 feels like a missed opportunity to deepen the narrative rather than expand it. It’s not entirely unenjoyable, but it leaves me longing for the raw, impactful storytelling of the first season. If you loved season 1 for its authenticity and emotional punch, this sequel might leave you a bit underwhelmed.
