Crying, puking, throwing up

Ok, So I`ve let this one marinate for a few weeks now to collect my thoughts. And my only conclusion is that I think this one holds up very well to the first season, I might have enjoyed watching whc2 a bit more than the first season (*Gasp*). But at the same time, I think this season makes the first season better? Not in a comparatively way, but I think this season adds to the first . I have spent the last few weeks just thinking about WHC and I have so many thoughts that I will not be able to fit into this review, but below are some main points.

What I think WHC2 does well:
- The best thing this season does is incorporating the first season into this one. I was a bit nervous when season 2 was announced that they the two seasons would feel like 2 separate shows, but this is not the case at all. As a viewer, you almost feel like Sieun, where he still lives in the past to a certain extent, trying to move forward with his life with his new friends but not quite able to do so. I genuinely believe that the best thing about this season is how Suho truly hunts the narrative through-out the season, he might not be there, but his presence is so strong and that is just great storytelling.
- I loved the new side characters. I was a bit reluctant in the first few episodes, but they really grew on me. I especially loved the character of Juntae, and his friendship with Sieun is a bit underrated imo.
- Loved how Sieun fought this season. Saw a few people complain that it doesn’t follow the original source material, but I love that he was just fighting like a feral squirrel. I mean, the guy is deeply depressed, so I think the fighting style fitted his overall state-of-mind.

What could have been done better:
- This season is clearly more plot-driven compared to character driven like S1. So you do lose some of those connections to the characters. For example, I feel like we didn´t really understand the villain’s motive, like why?
- I didn´t think about this as was watching but I´ve seen people point it out and I must agree; some of the makeup and lighting looks a bit odd? Can´t pinpoint what is off, but there is something.
- I´m sorry but you can NOT tell me that these guys are high school students. When Baekjin put that school uniform on I cackled.

I liked S2 better than S1, maybe because of the actors or something, but there’s more to it than just that.

In the first season, Beom Seok's character was honestly way too annoying for me to handle. I get that he was being abused at home, and that's tragic, but it still doesn't give him the right to act like a bully to everyone else. Watching him cross lines and manipulate people while also being a victim felt… frustrating. It made me think, victimizing villains doesn't make their actions okay. Just because someone suffers doesn't mean we should excuse everything they do. That's why, even though I understood his pain, I hated his character in S1... it was hard to sympathize with him fully.

Then comes S2, and I immediately felt a difference. The same manipulation trick was there.. Baek Jin being controlled but this time it didn't feel as unfair or annoying because there was at least one character who didn't just stand by and watch it happen. Park Humin actually called it out and didn't let it slide, which made the story feel more balanced. I think that made the show so much more engaging for me this time around. You could see the tension, the conflict, and the moral consequences more clearly, and it was satisfying to watch characters take responsibility instead of just being victims or villains in isolation.

The characters felt less one dimensional, the story didn't make excuses for bad behavior, and the dynamics between them were more intense and believable. That's why, for me, S2 definitely won over S1.

more action, less connection

i hate comparing things, but there are a lot of things different this time around from editing to writing. let me start with the editing. there were two weird cuts connected to really personal scenes. firstly, when others find out about sieun's car accident. instead of seeing their actual reaction to the revelation, we see them running to the hospital. second time the same thing happened was when suho woke up and we probably got one of the most underwhelming first time meeting scenes of all time. that dialogue deserves a death sentence. why did the writer decide to have others join sieun and suho's reunion where they didn't say a WORD? we will never know. also, for the sake of the bond between the friend group, i would've loved a scene where sieun actually opens up about his past to the other guys. was it that hard? other thing that bothered me were over choreographed fight scenes. some looked downright silly. on the bright side, most of the introduced characters were interesting, and i quite liked them. i also liked overall schools' gang plot or whatever you like to call it. most importantly, i'm happy that sieun smiled more than once turning this season.

So much better than Season 1

First of all I really don’t understand the people who consider season 1 as brilliant! 😂 Apart from the first 4 episodes not much about season 1 was brilliant!!!
The characters mostly sucked and some of the characters from the beginning never came back which was sad. The story and motivation of the characters was lacking (e.g.: Beom-Seok and why he felt so much hatred towards Su-ho was illogical and annoying which was sad bcs I really didn’t wanna hate Beom-seok bcs I pitied him but in the end I hated him so much!)
The fighting scenes sucked too! it was just mindless kicking and loads of “shibal” exclamations… the violence was mostly boring unless Su-Ho was the one fighting.
And then the end: The worst end ever!!!! I was seriously not happy!!! But I couldn’t just give up on Su-Ho my boy so I ofc immediately watched season 2 as soon as it came out and OMG!!!! I literally finished it in 3 days!!!! Here is why I liked it better than season 1:

1. The new characters were just soooooo much better 😍😍😍I loved all of the three new boys!!! They all had their own unique traits!!! Especially Baku!!! What an amazing character!!! I hope we will see more of them!!! Also Hyun-Tak! Actually I liked the two of them a bit more than Si-Eun 😅
Not only the new friends but also the new villains were awesome!!!!! Baek-Jin was brilliant!!!! To be honest I really wanted to know more about him! As well as that hot psychopath Seong-Je!!!! I lowkey wanna see him fight Su-Ho if there is a Season 3!!!

2. The story line was way more intriguing. Ofc it sounds very unrealistic like why would a gangster use high school studenta for his dirty jobs. Also most of them didnt look like or behave like high school students at all xD That was a bit unrealistic tbh and partly the reason for the point deduction.
The ending was almost perfect tho! I did predict that either Baku or Baek-Jin would die and I guess I was right…

3. The fighting scenes were insane!!! The quality has suddenly improved so much compared to season 1!!! I am so glad they invested more in that!!! Tbh I feel like there were less fighting scenes in total but the existing ones had a higher quality.

Some thinga I thought were unnecessary were Baku joining the Union for a short time and Si-Eun’s accident… I wish they replaced those scenes with more background information on Baku and Baek-Jin.

Other than that I loved season 2 SOOOO MUCHHHHH more!!! Hoping there will be season 3 but judging on how it ended i assume there will be another season…

Much the same as the 1st Weak Hero, but...

I liked the fact it wasn't focussed on the school environment so much, very few classroom scenes. Gave it a more mature feel. I liked the speed of the story, how it played out. I would have liked to see some things that we didn't & would like to have not seen some things we did but no deal breakers. I really enjoyed the series, class 1 & class 2. Park Ji Hoon is so very talented & versatile. The cast impressed me with their acting & there are so many of them!

Great work, congrats to all the crew. Can't wait for the next project. Tastefully Yours is about to air in a few days so I'll check it out.

Weak Hero Class 2 — A Storm of Violence Without the Heartbeat of Part One

Weak Hero Class 2 arrives with heightened expectations, following the exceptional emotional resonance of its first season. Yet despite its impressive intensity and visual prowess, the second installment left me feeling disconnected, longing for the soulful storytelling that once defined the series.

One of the greatest strengths of Weak Hero Class 1 was its intricate balance between brutal realities and tender human connection. It was not just a story of violence — it was a poignant exploration of friendship, loyalty, and survival. Each fight in the first season was steeped in context; it carried emotional weight, often revealing the characters' vulnerabilities and desperate need for belonging. Violence was never gratuitous — it was a last resort, an act of desperation or protection, making every blow feel necessary, almost inevitable.

In contrast, Weak Hero Class 2 seems to have shifted its focus almost entirely toward the spectacle of violence. While the production values are commendable — the action sequences are visceral, raw, and technically brilliant — the narrative often feels hollow. The relentless fights lack the strong emotional undercurrent that once made the pain onscreen deeply personal. Here, violence seems to occur for violence's sake, with the reasons behind the endless power struggles remaining flimsy, almost superficial.

I do appreciate that adolescence can be a chaotic, tumultuous time, where pride, anger, and insecurity fuel rash decisions. Teenagers can indeed be irrational in their quest for dominance and respect. However, the sheer extent of the brutality in Weak Hero Class 2, without sufficient emotional grounding, made it difficult for me to fully engage with the characters' journeys. I found myself questioning — why are they fighting so hard? What are they truly trying to defend or prove?

That said, the drama is not without merit. The deep bonds of friendship, a hallmark of the series, continue to shine in certain moments. Su Ho's arc, in particular, was beautifully tragic, evoking genuine sympathy and heartbreak. I also felt a profound sadness for Baek Jin, whose suffering was portrayed with a quiet intensity that lingered even after the final scene. These flashes of emotional truth reminded me of what the Weak Hero series is capable of when it taps into the human spirit beneath the fists.

Yet overall, the sequel struggles to match the emotional layering and character depth that made the original so memorable. Weak Hero Class 1 was a story about survival against odds, about fragile young men forging bonds to shield themselves from an unforgiving world. Weak Hero Class 2, by comparison, feels like a story of endless confrontation, with too few moments of introspection or growth to make the violence truly meaningful.

In the end, Weak Hero Class 2 roars with anger but often forgets to whisper the quieter truths about pain, friendship, and resilience that once set this series apart. It is a visually powerful sequel — but one that left me missing the soul of its predecessor.

One of my fav dramas

Weak Hero was one of the very first K-dramas I ever watched, and it has truly earned a special place in my heart. The story pulled me in right from the beginning, but what stayed with me the most was Sieun. He is my favorite character — someone I deeply relate to and understand on a personal level. Watching his journey felt both heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time.

I will also never forget the opening song. The moment I hear it, I am instantly taken back to the atmosphere of the drama. It’s become a melody that will always remind me of Weak Hero and the emotions I felt while watching it.

And of course, I can’t forget to mention my slightly unhealthy obsession with all the villains. Seong Je was definitely my guilty pleasure throughout the show — the kind of character I know I shouldn’t root for, but somehow I couldn’t help myself.

This drama isn’t just a show to me — it’s an unforgettable experience, and I know I’ll carry it with me for a very long time.

season 2 was so beautiful and all you homophobes can go to hell because today we finally won sieun and suho confirmed ROMANTIC feelings. fork found in kitchen. the new characters are all gr4eat i will admit i had my doubts about the actor for juntae because of shitty ass xo kitty but he did a great job. i think Jun young looks too old to be in this show they could have found someone else. actually a lot of ide characters looked 40 that's my only complaint.

i still prefer season 1, but THIS SEASON IS STILL AS SOLID

i freaking love it!!! i binge watched season 1 and 2 in a sitting, and both season has its own beauty to it. though i still prefer season 1 with the emotional buildup, whereas season 2 has lotsa fight and tackling of the bullying issue.

its so nice to see si eun determination and loyalty, and how he stands up for the weak even though he honestly isn't that great of a fighter. but hey, they say the winner is the last one standing and that is si eun for you.

i love love love how it connects back to season 1, without throwing away the entire season 1 plot and showing conversation with Beom Seok and i was really hoping si ho wakes up in the middle of the season, but that's okay so long as he wakes up in the drama still. SO CUTE. i can't wait if there is going to be a season 3; will we see the bromance combination of si eun with si ho and hu min?

The dark truth behind standing up for yourself

I just finished the drama and tried to grasp how I feel about it. Besides the amazing fighting choreography, I got outstanding young actors that believably portray how violence can turn you absolutely numb and how even the weakest kids can do unimaginable things if tortured too long. But what I actually liked the most about the show was the overall message I personally perceived from it: Standing up for yourself is nothing romantic. It's nothing pretty. It's nothing glorious. Most of the time it's just ugly and painful.

If you want a show that portrays real life you won't like this. Given all the damage they took since episode 1 they all would be in a coma or dead already. But who is watching dramas for them to be realistic? Watch it for the entertainment. For the grim realisation that sometimes if you defend yourself you won't be any better than your oppressors. But that's how life goes. And that's the realistic part about this drama. Action - Reaction. Just that sometimes your reactions are as bad as the actions of the people who hurt you in the first place. It's an endless cycle. It's not romantic. It doesn't have an happy ending. There are some happy moments but in the end it's just a drama about some traumatized highly violent children that aren't heroes but just kids who are tired of getting disrespected and beaten up. Kids who become absolute lunatics themselves and instead of recognizing that they could try to end things peacefully they just take the same measures as the villains - who in fact also are just crazy traumatized kids. They only ever realize it when the damage is already done. There's nothing nice about that drama. And that's what makes it so damn good.

THE HYPE. THE WAIT. THE THRILL. THE VERY ALL OF WEAK HERO CLASS 2 ARE WORTH IT!!!

....THAT IS "if" you're a non-reader of the original webtoon like me, and solely just watching without any expectations from the webtoon itself.

I'm too lazy to write any reviews/comment here actually considering how overwhelmed i am with whc2 but SINCE, it seems some/a lot where MAKING FUSS everywhere here and around the socmed about 1 : *that whc2 SEEMED RUSHED or what* ; 2 : *that how the MEETING OF SI-EUN & SU-HO WENT PASS JUST LIKE THAT?!*

IF THAT'S THE CASE, LET ME JUST ASK YOU FOR 1-THING. ~Would you like it if it goes how you wanted it to happen???? knowing it's just an 8-episode drama & probably, it could have been filmed quite in a fast-paced more than this! WELL, I BET YOU DON'T want it that way!

**reviews
I would say, THIS TOTALLY EXCEEDS MY EXPECTATIONS. Man! Those flashbacks from the start!? IT IS JUST ONE THING THAT I REALLY PRAISE for this season. & What I REALLY LOVE about is how they didn't exclude Su-Ho ; from Si-Eun visiting suho every each day, & 'till OUR LONG WAIT WISH HAS FINALLY CAME TO AN END, suho's recovery, plus their meeting after all the long years and su-ho waiting for sieun, how SiEun and his new found friends run to meet suho *i'm still crying from si-eun's smile fr* (i was afraid suho would suffer from some memory loss tho, nothing just some kind of trauma* which I'm glad didn't happen). Tho, their reunion appeared quiet late to finale, I'm glad for the assurance they gave and didn't make it a reason for another season.

STILL, THERE ARE YET THINGS WAITING TO UNFOLD OF THE POTENTIAL NEW SEASON. THERE ARE MORE TO IT WHICH I HIGHLY ANTICIPATED!!!

~ so yeah! SEE YOU ALL NEXT SEASON!!!!! WITH THE WHOLE Weak Hero OG, hopefully!🙏👊

WILL HEAL YOUR SOUL FROM S1

S1 better than S2? The answer is NO, No Season is better than the other, S1 and S2 are one Series y'all for those S2 haters. S1 has been really painful for me, I felt wooseok's betrayal to the bones, It feels heart wrenching especially when suho was hospitalized because of wooseok's betrayal just because he felt jealous of someone, Until now I still need closure, I still want to see him felt the remorse he never did instead he blamed the Girl for the misfortune, S2 healed those painful emotions from S1 after seeing suho finally woken up and see Si-eun Again plus with his new friends, I finally be at peace. S1 and S2 are really full packaged if I focused on Si-eun's circle of friends. For Baek Jin a and Humin's friendship it's a pity how their friendship ended like that, tho no specific reason why they severed their friendship but it's a pity how Jin ah ended doing bad things they shouldn't have shown how he's been donating to the orphanage so I don't feel sympathetic to him anymore. But I just ignored them so it's fine. So the conclusion is that S1 wouldn't be Complete without S2 and S2 wouldn't be complete without S1. Just think of this as a whole Drama series with 16 episodes don't separate them it's really good.
