My First Kdrama and First Kdrama Review!

Writing & Storytelling / Character Development

The story is engaging and keeps you hooked from Season 1 all the way through to the end of Season 2. While Season 1 was well-paced in my opinion, Season 2 felt rushed. There were so many character stories to explore—starting with Na Baek Jin. How did he end up in the union? What’s his connection to the boss? How did they even meet? Since the show didn’t provide clear answers, I interpreted it as the boss possibly adopting Na Baek Jin for his own gain—using him to build the union and run illegal operations. Given that Baek Jin is an orphan who was bullied and later rescued by Baku, it makes sense that he might see the union as a coping mechanism and form of protection. I found his backstory intriguing, and I wish we had gotten to see more of it.

Next are Baku and his friends. Their friendship lacked screen time. It would’ve been more impactful and relatable if we saw the growth of their bond from the beginning.

Then there’s Seong Je. To me, he feels like an anti-hero. He’s wild, enjoys violence, but is also observant. I especially liked how he seemed more fascinated by Si-eun than Baku during the scene where Baku and Tak rescued Jun-tae. I think there’s something deeper behind his actions, and it would be interesting to see a spin-off focused on him. Despite having few scenes, his personality stood out the most.

They added more characters this season, so it would’ve been better if there were more episodes to show their stories.

We’ve seen how much Si-eun has grown since Season 1—starting as a loner and eventually finding real friends. I liked how, in the end, Si-eun reflected on what he learned from Su-ho—that having friends is a good thing. It really highlights the message of the show and makes the journey feel emotional and impactful. I also appreciated how this season made Su-ho more relevant, which made sense in shaping Si-eun’s development. Su-ho truly feels like the heart of the show.

Beom-seok and Jun-tae went through similar experiences—both were bullied—but responded in different ways. Jun-tae became brave, while Beom-seok became coward. But if you look deeper, you’ll understand why Beom-seok acted that way; he came from an abusive family. This contrast makes their stories even more interesting. In Si-eun’s dream, Beom-seok represents his guilt, and that scene felt really important to the story as well.

As for the dialogue, there were moments that felt cringey and didn’t match the overall tone—like Baku’s entrance or some of Choi’s scenes. Personally, I think the show would’ve been better and more consistent if it had stuck with a mature and serious tone like Season 1.

Acting Performance and Chemistry

The actor who plays Si-eun has been incredible since Season 1. His eyes are some of the most expressive I’ve ever seen, and he brings real depth to the character. I’m curious to see more of his work—I’d definitely watch other dramas he’s in just to see his range.

Another standout for me was the actor who played Seong Je. His introduction in was intense, and his fight scenes with Si-eun were some of the best.

The chemistry between the four main characters felt underdeveloped. Since there were so few scenes showing them together, their bond didn’t hit as hard emotionally compared to Season 1.

Production Quality

The cinematography in Season 2 feels very "Netflix." If you’ve seen other Netflix originals, you’ll get what I mean. The tone was noticeably different from Season 1. Funny enough, even though the first season had a cheaper look, I actually preferred it over the sleeker Netflix visuals in Season 2. That said, the camera angles in Season 2 were definitely better. In Season 1, some shots felt awkward—like the boxing ring scene with Suho lying or a few of the club sequences.

As for the fight scenes, I was expecting them to be more brutal. Season 2 had more action overall, but it lacked the raw grit of Season 1. The fight in Episode 1 (last part) of the first season is still my favorite. I wish they had kept that level of intensity throughout. That said, I understand that certain scenes may have been toned down to appeal to a younger/general audience, since this is still a high school drama.

Score

I usually listen to the soundtrack before watching a movie or show to feel the mood and prepare myself emotionally, but this time I didn’t—and the show still impressed me. For me, music is a very important part of storytelling, and this one did a great job. The outro always hits hard. My favorite moment was when Si-eun finally saw Suho in the final episode—the music made it even more emotional. I also liked the intense score used in the fight scenes.

Overall

This drama delivers when it comes to entertainment. I understand why it became so popular and widely talked about—it definitely caught my attention. All in all, it’s a solid watch and something I’d consider rewatching.

A tale of choices, sacrifices, and second chances... just not quite what I was hoping for.

Yeon Si Eun has reached the breaking point—feeling like he's run out of options, he's determined to end it all...or not. He’s caught in a harrowing spiral of regret and desperation. Trapped between the need of redemption and the weight of guilt and He must confront his choice. You feel Yeon Si Eun pain, his desperation, and the oppressive darkness of the world he who surrounds him.

Weak Hero Class 2 is a series for second chances, wrong choices, and the devastating outcomes of human avarice. This show is more than just a violence story. It’s a reflection on choices, desires, sacrifices and realityHe the asking spectators to consider to consider - I if given a second chance, would we truly make other decisions, or are we doomed to repeat the same steps? However, the spectators can expect a story filled with dynamic characters and blood.

Judging from season 1, I thought I'd either absolutely eat this up or it would be lacking depth. It was definitely something in between. I didn't know what was happeningt when I went into it (I haven't read the Webtoon), but it's safe to say this didn't blow my world away. I love season 1 and I just wish the execution was a bit different. I'm very into friendship stories, so I'm sad I couldn't like this more. This is a story with near non-stop action, and the violence scenes are pretty much the only reason why this gets 7,5 stars instead of 7. The portrayal of violence and its suffocating grip was raw and powerful, capturing the inability to make the right choice.

So, а random chance encounter with the wrong person can change the entire course of your whole life....

I dont get it why people are disappointed with this season.
This might be the best season. I love everything abt it. The ending the fight scenes, crying scenes.
Everything about it is wonderful.
10/10!
one thing that i might agree with is that we barely saw any suho scenes. I get it he just woke up and he was in wheelchair, but i wanted more reaction about this.
The ending made me thought that there might be another season just because. The CEO chose a new gang leader(hope so that there will be season3)

For me 8 episodes wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to see one more episode dedicated to suho and si-eun. But sadly we didnt got it.

Rather then that i think this season was amazing.!!!

Love the cast but…

I was patiently waiting for years for season 2 to drop. but.. idk it was definitely good but I didn’t feel the connection to s2 like I had with S1.
The best thing about s2 was the cast and the acting! it was immaculate!!
But the pacing and storytelling overall felt off ? it basically felt like a lot of fights through 8 short episodes. main characters suddenly appeared and disappeared and backstories to understand them a bit more were left out. It also seemed a bit unrealistic how fast there injuries disappeared? they got 10-15? hits to the head and were walking like nothing happened…
What also threw me off was the beginning. the trailer and also end of s1 was showing sieun walking into the new class and s2 begins one year after transferring to the school. There are so many questions open to answer! why do baekjin and baku hate each other so much? why did he die? where does seungjae(?) suddenly disappeared to? I thought he’s the main bad guy? Like I have so many more questions bc the storytelling was so off.

overall definitely nice to watch but it sadly couldn’t reach s1 :(

Sadness eye's

In the second season, as Park Ji-hoon quoted in the press conference, he added a sense of sadness to his role as Yoon Shi-woo.
At the beginning of the series, Shi-woon lived a troubled life with his sadness.
as the series progressed, he struggled with it.
Park Ji-hoon should be praised for his brilliant acting.

Nothing weak about this installment

The wait was long... but it was worth it.

Weak Hero Class 1 holds a special place in my heart. It was one of the first dramas that I sat down and watched in one sitting, and that means several things, several very good things. Now... I was able to sit down and finish this drama in one sitting as well... so that tells me that this doesn't lack 'in comparison' to the first season.. in fact, it adds upon what was there with a bit of its own style.. and I'll explain.

Finishing a drama in one season means it was either compelling, or it was something I wanted to get over with and never come back to again. For this, it was compelling. The story flowed and connected from each episode to episode. This drama would've done well as a weekly drama, but it also is doing incredibly well with releasing all the episodes at once. The only shame here is that I waited two years to watch the drama in a few hours.

What I am taking from any complaints is that people are saying this is too 'Netflix'. My counter to that is of course it is looking different than the first drama to an extent. This season has bigger fights, and everything is done on a larger scale. The budget is much larger, so the production can make things look more grand. I don't see a problem with this, and don't see any place in this drama that used a budget to cover up anything. It wasn't a stark difference either, the team behind the project is competent.. and are way more than just competent. They understood the story that took place in the first season, and how that effects and compares itself to what is being told here. The budget didn't compromise the script or acting, the script and the acting was on par with the first season if not better.

The characters are mostly brand new, and so is the setting. To an extend things are obviously going to look and feel different than the first. The first season was Yoon Sieun's backstory, and I expected him to be in this season a whole lot less. I was expecting and understand that there are many other characters that need screen time and development. Not a single scene was wasted with the new characters, each scene was effective towards the main narrative.

Yoon Sieun is filled with guilt, and his characterization was consistent with the first season. I'll keep things with the comparisons to the first season at that. As I think, if you find disappointment with the fact the two are different then I'll just say. Of course they are different, Yoon Sieun's whole world is different. You can be upset, feel that sense of dread and loss, it is supposed to feel that way.

Park Jihoon does an amazing job with this project. No one else could fit into this role period. I can't give him enough praise. Jihoon acts with his eyes, and understands his role so well here. With every actor they fit their role, and it leaves the audience engrossed in the performance and reality of the drama. I didn't doubt for a second what I was watching, and was impressed with how well I resonated with each character and their story.

What is done so well to leave this drama feeling full is the details. I could write on and on about each specific one, but will name a few.

The way Sieun walks and breaths when his past is brought up. The sense of dread and anxiety you can see through his eyes and actions, the way he composes himself. All together he is more unhinged with his fighting style, as he has learned to fight to an extent, but is also resourceful and someone that isn't a fighter at all really. He is surviving, and he also has people he wants to protect. He becomes more unhinged the more those he cares about are put at stake or hurt, he is a selfless character. Honestly, he is the best character byfar.... and I'm ok with saying that since he is the main character. With so many main characters it really impressive that with the amount of time given for each one I'm not feeling like I'm missing anything or wanting someone to get less screentime.. I just wish for more..

He is isn't as calculative with his fighting style, and dare I say that is because he really doesn't have any reason to. He fights off instinct. He still observes his surroundings, but he is more 'feral', not giving himself as much time to reason because he can't hesitate when it comes to protecting his friends. His reason held him back to an extent. You didn't see the pause when he was taking down Suho's abusers in the first season at the very end... it is the same here.

Wanting more isn't bad. Sieun is a chronic yearner, so am I. The resolution for him is beautifully displayed, as he is tied down to the boxing ring. It is both symbolic and literal (with his nightmares being consistent and the same). This drama does a lot of showing and not telling, which I love. I have a problem when a drama tells you something.. it makes me feel dumb. Here you really have to watch, and the drama gives the viewer a lot to watch.

The action is eye-catching, the character interactions are interesting, equal parts wholesome, tragic, the whole works. The dynamics between characters its a highlight here. Especially Baku and Baekjin, and the main 'gang' as a whole. Seongje is a wild-card, and I'm impressed with both the character and the actor behind it. I can say that yet again, about everyone.

I won't spoil anyones fun with spoilers. I will keep it at that. This season is incredible, and you are kidding yourself if you don't think so. I don't think it sold itself out to Netflix, it used the platform and the budget to its advantage to tell a complete, and stellar picture. There also will be another season so don't say this is an incomplete story. I will die on a hill here.

The story was told and I will be patient for the next season. I'm not delusional ok.. I'm exceptionally happy with this drama. It was like this season was written for me... I would explain.. but that is more personal than just a drama review. So to sum the review... 10/10. This is vey very good, please give your criticisms to me and I'll acknowledge and challenge them! Thanks!

Mind blowing.

Finished this in 3 hours, I MISSED park ji hoon. the casting was so good so I don't get it why people are complaining? all of the actors played their role very good. I'm gonna be honest I had expected not to like this but thus is very good and a good competition to season 1. I always imagined the day suho wakes up and meets suho and in the end I sobbed, I sobbed so hard and I didn't expect to cry at all. the ost hit the spot it hit so hard I wanted to cry even more. ryeon ( I think that's his name) played his role so good. whenever he cried I cried. this season completed a part of me that was broken I'm so glad I got to see suho and si eun again though I wish they added more of their chats but it's okay. I missed them, seeing a glimpse of si eun and suho together satisfied me. and the cameo of beom seok? I'm so happy that si eun finally understood him. though, he was wrong but I felt so satisfied after seeing them. those flashbacks fit together perfectly! these lines "suho, I got into in another fight." broke me. when I say broke me I started crying it's just that the script was written so good. The cameos fit perfectly! I guess ha yi chan sent his son to comfort and protect si eun. I'm so glad I watched this. please just watch it!! off topic but park ji hoon's eyes are so beautiful!

Weak Hero Class 2 – My Thoughts After a Binge Watch

So, I just binged Weak Hero Class 2, and honestly, I enjoyed it for the most part. It picks up right where S1 left off – Su Ho is in a coma, Si Eun’s been expelled, and now he's transferred to a smaller school where rumors are flying that he “killed someone.” Not great when you’re already carrying a ton of guilt.

What I Loved:
First off, the soundtrack. Still the same as season 1, and I’m so glad they didn’t change it. It’s just perfect for the mood of the show – intense, emotional, and so atmospheric.

Park Jihoon as Yeon Si Eun – seriously, this guy doesn’t miss. His acting was just as strong as in S1, if not better. He starts off the season already looking like he’s hit rock bottom, and you feel it. His expressions were everything. That one scene where Jun Tae tells him it’s not his fault and he finally breaks down? That hit hard. Especially when he tells his mom he doesn’t want to go abroad because his friends said it’s not his fault – beautiful moment.

Also, the friendship this season was really well done. Hu Min, Jun Tae, and Hyeon Tak helping Si Eun slowly open up was such a nice progression to watch. You could tell he was starting to heal, little by little.

And okay, Hu Min and Baek Jin were doing their own thing entirely – it was like they had their own drama running parallel. Whether as friends or enemies, they had real chemistry and were low-key pulling everyone else into their whirlwind.
Episode 1 was my personal favorite. In just 40 minutes, they made me care about a brand-new character (Jun Tae), and that’s not easy. Really strong start.

The fight scenes were solid too – gritty and intense like always.
And Su Ho waking up at the end? Yes! Loved that Si Eun went to see him, this time with new friends by his side.

What Caught Me Off Guard:
Baek Jin’s death. Didn’t see it coming, and definitely didn’t expect to be that sad about it.

Final Thoughts:
Season 1 is still my favorite, but season 2 had a lot of good stuff too. The emotional weight was heavier, and while the pacing was a bit different, it was still a fun watch. Some great new characters, solid fights, and strong character development – I’m glad I stuck with it.

A POWERFUL CONTINUATION OF A GREAT DRAMA - Loved S2 more than S1 ❤️

Absolutely BETTER than season 1. If S1 was a 9/10, S2 is 100% a 10/10!!!🔥

S1 was great and successful mainly because of the bromance between Si Eun and Su Ho and the undeniable chemistry of the actors. Their relationship carried the show. 👍 But I personally never liked Bom Seok and Yeong I, so I didn't care about them as a group and disliked the other villains, they were boring. 🥱The plot was rather simple and straightforward, the action scenes were good, the acting of course amazing. But S2...

S2 took it to a WHOLE new level!!! 😱The action, the violence, the emotional struggles, the new environment and new friendships. The relentless villains. I loved everything about it. ❤️

The quartet was SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL. ☺️Now, add to them that one member we all love and we have the PERFECT combination. ✨They all are so energetic, so good for each other, with no toxicity among them. I'm literally begging for a 3rd season because I desperately need more of them!!! 🙏

NOTE: Park Ji Hoon is once again fantastic in his role but I gotta say. Ryeo Un stole this season for me. I love that kid so much, he's so talented and he ATE this role!!! My man got such a great build to play Hu Min, he's got shoulders for daysssss 😍 Add him to the cast of "Bloodhounds" S2, he'd fit right in!!!😁

Anyways, S2 exceeded my expectations!!! 👏The wait was soooo worth it. PLZ, NETFLIX, RENEW FOR SEASON 3!!!🥳

Having true friends can make the weakest be the strongest of all!

I was really excited for this new season and to me it was worthy the wait! It’s not better than season 1 tho but still great! Jihoon once again gave us an amazing performance, his eyes can tell a whole story and when he’s angry he’s so expressive! He’s really natural in this character, it was made for him. We didn’t have the same impactful scene as the ending of EP8 in season 1, when Si Eun cried after everything that happened, but his acting was still good!

Lee Jun Young as a villain was also really good too, which I expected already because I love his acting and he’s a master in this type of character. I really hope he gets more popular later, he deserves. Baek Jin’s actor also did a very good job as a villain! It’s difficult to shine in a psychopath character when Jun Young is in the same drama but he did great. I’m not gonna lie tho, I wanted to see Jun Young more because he’s just TOO GOOD!

About Si Eun’s new friends, altough Baku have a much more focus in the story, I liked Hyeon Tak and Jun Tae more as characters. It was a great duo and Jun Tae is sooo cute! Baku is interesting but he was a little annoying for me in the beginning. He captivated me more later tho, especially in his scenes with Baek Jin. They had great chemistry. In general I liked the dinamic between the characters and their friendship. It was really important for Si Eun to have new friends and to not be alone.

The fighting scenes were good for me too, although no one was impactful as the one with the book in the season 1. But if I had to pick a favorite would be the one with Jihoon and Jun Young (I might be biased haha). We also had some memorable and emotional moments too and we can see how everything that happened in the last season had a strong impact in Si Eun’s life and how important is Su Ho for him. I liked the hospital scene between Si Eun and BeomSeok too, it had a great symbolism with Beom Seok basically representing Si Eun’s trauma who was holding him back.

Some negative points is that I think some parts were a bit rushed, especially in the last two episodes. Nevertheless, I liked this season and I will definitely be watching if they do another one (the ending gave me the feeling that we might have a 3rd season… don’t know if we have enough material for that tho, it might be something completely new).

PS: If we get another season later, it would be great to see Si Eun, Baku, Jun Tae, Hyeon Tak AND Su Ho being a squad. Also, I think I have to point out: I never read the webtoon so all opinions here is based only in what I saw in the drama!

Wasted Potential

Wow. First off wow. This was probably my most and THE most anticipated drama of 2025 and it just failed to live up to the hype it expected. Compared to S1, I expected something more. The casting was great, the story was... mid and rushed, and the osts were brilliant.

To note, I know there were many characters that were cut from the drama as opposed to the webtoon but the villains were really lackluster. The only interesting characters were, of course, the two that were the "main" villains. There were definitely interesting and a great addition but I feel like we could've gotten more with the addition of the original characters. There were the other two who were almost non-existent which I feel like in the webtoon, they actually had something to add to the story. Na Baekjin was pushed out too much when, in reality, he was like a mysterious figure throughout the webtoon. He was behind the scene most of the time. (The tattoo... the FUCKING TATTOO). Lackluster villains, Wolf Keum was the only interesting one and fucking disappeared.

Even for the main cast, there was so much potential, SO MUCH. Yes, I love the four of them (5 inlcuding Suho) but we could've gotten something even more. The original Eunjang had life to them. This Eunjang had nothing. We could've gotten 3/4 more characters who could've added to the story but were instead cut. Go Hyuntak didn't really get his shine as he should have compared to Juntae and Baku. There was almost no depth to his character. He could've been something so much more rather than being Baku's friend and good at fighting.

It's sad that this was rushed and pushed out like this, I felt like they could've put more into this. 8 episodes? Really? I mean cmon Netflix. This could've been a great 16 episode season even if we included the original cast from the webtoon. These were 30 minute episodes damn near, where it could've been at least an hour at most. No depth to some characters, Na Baekjin's conclusion sucked, the fight between Union and Eunjang could've been on a much bigger scale, the other schools didn't even get highlighted when could've added more to the story. Man.

This felt more like an original rather than an adaptation. I think S1 was too good, like really too good. You can't top it sadly. They tried with this but instead failed and burnt everything to flames. It was, of course still good but, damn. It was really lackluster and deviated from the webtoon a lot. I feel like a lot of people were too attached to Suho and they were almost forced to include him in this season, making him the main plot essentially. I felt no attachment to the other characters, other than Baku really.

One of the most anticipated but failed to live up to the people. Would've been an overall 7/7.5 but the casting of the actors were great so I had to bump it up. Would've rather rewatched S1 then watch this tbh. But overall, it was a fun watch, just not what I expected after how much of a masterpiece S1 was. Could've been something great but became Gojo.

Book them all for a CT Scan...

By the time this drama ended, I was left feeling unsatisfied—as if the story wasn’t truly over, like more episodes were on the way but never arrived. That feeling might be intentional, a product of good storytelling designed to leave viewers anticipating a potential next season. However, something about this season’s ending felt different from Season 1.

When season 1 ended—with Suho in a coma and Siyeon transferred to another school—there was still a strong sense of emotional closure. Despite the heartbreak and betrayal, it left a lasting impact... the ache of a beloved character’s fate, the sorrow of broken friendships and the hope of what might come next. It was melancholic but meaningful. It felt like an ending.

In contrast, season 2 lacked that emotional weight. I didn’t feel the same connection to the newly introduced characters, and as a result, the conclusion didn’t carry the same emotional punch. There was no sadness, no real anticipation—just a flat, almost indifferent sense of “that’s it?”. Perhaps it’s because the original characters were more fleshed out and emotionally engaging, while the new ones didn’t have the same depth or development.

That said, Park Ji Hoon once again delivered a standout performance as Siyeon. He truly is that character. His portrayal was so seamless and convincing that it’s hard to imagine him in any role that isn’t this serious or stoic—he embodied Siyeon completely, with intensity and nuance.

Another highlight was Lee Jun Young as Seong Jae. I’ll admit, part of my admiration is biased—I have always been a fan since his acting debut. But when the character was first introduced, I genuinely didn’t recognize him. I remember thinking, “This guy really looks like Lee Jun Young,” and that he would’ve nailed this role, only to realize a moment later that it was him. I had to laugh at myself. What impressed me most was how he didn’t fall back on his previous villain or bully roles. He reinvented the archetype—his posture, his body language, the subtlety in his performance—it all felt fresh. That speaks volumes about his talent.

Jo Jung Suk’s cameo was also a fantastic surprise. In just a few seconds, he brought charisma, danger and gravitas as a mafia boss. He was a total scene-stealer. I’m definitely hoping we’ll see more of both JJS and LJY if there’s a next season.

All in all, this season was just… okay. I went in with high expectations because Season 1 was phenomenal. But by the end of Season 2, I wasn’t just missing the old characters—I was missing the emotional connection and storytelling depth that made the first season unforgettable. It didn’t feel like a reunion; it felt more like an unresolved chapter.
