Netflix Season 2 : NEVER EXPECT MUCH

Weak Hero Class 2 disappoints with a narrative that struggles to find its footing.

The story feels dull, weighed down by excessive flashbacks to Season 1 that disrupt momentum rather than enhance depth. New plot lines lack urgency, particularly the contrived "accident misinformation" arc (Typical Netflix style ), which feels forced and poorly executed. Si Eun’s strategic brilliance, once a highlight, feels sidelined as fights devolve into generic brawls without his trademark cunning. (He is always ready to stab like crazy idiot)

Additionally, the protagonist’s mother is reduced to an irritating, superficial figure, adding little beyond unnecessary melodrama. While the season retains very little good fight sequences, these moments can’t salvage the lackluster pacing or underdeveloped conflicts. A few emotional beats, particularly around guilt and loss, offer fleeting resonance, but the overall experience pales in comparison to the tightly woven tension of its predecessor.

Fans may stay for the action, but the magic of Season 1 is sorely missed.

My First Kdrama and First Kdrama Review!

Writing & Storytelling / Character Development

The story is engaging and keeps you hooked from Season 1 all the way through to the end of Season 2. While Season 1 was well-paced in my opinion, Season 2 felt rushed. There were so many character stories to explore—starting with Na Baek Jin. How did he end up in the union? What’s his connection to the boss? How did they even meet? Since the show didn’t provide clear answers, I interpreted it as the boss possibly adopting Na Baek Jin for his own gain—using him to build the union and run illegal operations. Given that Baek Jin is an orphan who was bullied and later rescued by Baku, it makes sense that he might see the union as a coping mechanism and form of protection. I found his backstory intriguing, and I wish we had gotten to see more of it.

Next are Baku and his friends. Their friendship lacked screen time. It would’ve been more impactful and relatable if we saw the growth of their bond from the beginning.

Then there’s Seong Je. To me, he feels like an anti-hero. He’s wild, enjoys violence, but is also observant. I especially liked how he seemed more fascinated by Si-eun than Baku during the scene where Baku and Tak rescued Jun-tae. I think there’s something deeper behind his actions, and it would be interesting to see a spin-off focused on him. Despite having few scenes, his personality stood out the most.

They added more characters this season, so it would’ve been better if there were more episodes to show their stories.

We’ve seen how much Si-eun has grown since Season 1—starting as a loner and eventually finding real friends. I liked how, in the end, Si-eun reflected on what he learned from Su-ho—that having friends is a good thing. It really highlights the message of the show and makes the journey feel emotional and impactful. I also appreciated how this season made Su-ho more relevant, which made sense in shaping Si-eun’s development. Su-ho truly feels like the heart of the show.

Beom-seok and Jun-tae went through similar experiences—both were bullied—but responded in different ways. Jun-tae became brave, while Beom-seok became coward. But if you look deeper, you’ll understand why Beom-seok acted that way; he came from an abusive family. This contrast makes their stories even more interesting. In Si-eun’s dream, Beom-seok represents his guilt, and that scene felt really important to the story as well.

As for the dialogue, there were moments that felt cringey and didn’t match the overall tone—like Baku’s entrance or some of Choi’s scenes. Personally, I think the show would’ve been better and more consistent if it had stuck with a mature and serious tone like Season 1.

Acting Performance and Chemistry

The actor who plays Si-eun has been incredible since Season 1. His eyes are some of the most expressive I’ve ever seen, and he brings real depth to the character. I’m curious to see more of his work—I’d definitely watch other dramas he’s in just to see his range.

Another standout for me was the actor who played Seong Je. His introduction in was intense, and his fight scenes with Si-eun were some of the best.

The chemistry between the four main characters felt underdeveloped. Since there were so few scenes showing them together, their bond didn’t hit as hard emotionally compared to Season 1.

Production Quality

The cinematography in Season 2 feels very "Netflix." If you’ve seen other Netflix originals, you’ll get what I mean. The tone was noticeably different from Season 1. Funny enough, even though the first season had a cheaper look, I actually preferred it over the sleeker Netflix visuals in Season 2. That said, the camera angles in Season 2 were definitely better. In Season 1, some shots felt awkward—like the boxing ring scene with Suho lying or a few of the club sequences.

As for the fight scenes, I was expecting them to be more brutal. Season 2 had more action overall, but it lacked the raw grit of Season 1. The fight in Episode 1 (last part) of the first season is still my favorite. I wish they had kept that level of intensity throughout. That said, I understand that certain scenes may have been toned down to appeal to a younger/general audience, since this is still a high school drama.

Score

I usually listen to the soundtrack before watching a movie or show to feel the mood and prepare myself emotionally, but this time I didn’t—and the show still impressed me. For me, music is a very important part of storytelling, and this one did a great job. The outro always hits hard. My favorite moment was when Si-eun finally saw Suho in the final episode—the music made it even more emotional. I also liked the intense score used in the fight scenes.

Overall

This drama delivers when it comes to entertainment. I understand why it became so popular and widely talked about—it definitely caught my attention. All in all, it’s a solid watch and something I’d consider rewatching.

A tale of choices, sacrifices, and second chances... just not quite what I was hoping for.

Yeon Si Eun has reached the breaking point—feeling like he's run out of options, he's determined to end it all...or not. He’s caught in a harrowing spiral of regret and desperation. Trapped between the need of redemption and the weight of guilt and He must confront his choice. You feel Yeon Si Eun pain, his desperation, and the oppressive darkness of the world he who surrounds him.

Weak Hero Class 2 is a series for second chances, wrong choices, and the devastating outcomes of human avarice. This show is more than just a violence story. It’s a reflection on choices, desires, sacrifices and realityHe the asking spectators to consider to consider - I if given a second chance, would we truly make other decisions, or are we doomed to repeat the same steps? However, the spectators can expect a story filled with dynamic characters and blood.

Judging from season 1, I thought I'd either absolutely eat this up or it would be lacking depth. It was definitely something in between. I didn't know what was happeningt when I went into it (I haven't read the Webtoon), but it's safe to say this didn't blow my world away. I love season 1 and I just wish the execution was a bit different. I'm very into friendship stories, so I'm sad I couldn't like this more. This is a story with near non-stop action, and the violence scenes are pretty much the only reason why this gets 7,5 stars instead of 7. The portrayal of violence and its suffocating grip was raw and powerful, capturing the inability to make the right choice.

So, а random chance encounter with the wrong person can change the entire course of your whole life....

I dont get it why people are disappointed with this season.
This might be the best season. I love everything abt it. The ending the fight scenes, crying scenes.
Everything about it is wonderful.
10/10!
one thing that i might agree with is that we barely saw any suho scenes. I get it he just woke up and he was in wheelchair, but i wanted more reaction about this.
The ending made me thought that there might be another season just because. The CEO chose a new gang leader(hope so that there will be season3)

For me 8 episodes wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to see one more episode dedicated to suho and si-eun. But sadly we didnt got it.

Rather then that i think this season was amazing.!!!

Love the cast but…

I was patiently waiting for years for season 2 to drop. but.. idk it was definitely good but I didn’t feel the connection to s2 like I had with S1.
The best thing about s2 was the cast and the acting! it was immaculate!!
But the pacing and storytelling overall felt off ? it basically felt like a lot of fights through 8 short episodes. main characters suddenly appeared and disappeared and backstories to understand them a bit more were left out. It also seemed a bit unrealistic how fast there injuries disappeared? they got 10-15? hits to the head and were walking like nothing happened…
What also threw me off was the beginning. the trailer and also end of s1 was showing sieun walking into the new class and s2 begins one year after transferring to the school. There are so many questions open to answer! why do baekjin and baku hate each other so much? why did he die? where does seungjae(?) suddenly disappeared to? I thought he’s the main bad guy? Like I have so many more questions bc the storytelling was so off.

overall definitely nice to watch but it sadly couldn’t reach s1 :(

I Would Just Be The Catcher In The Rye And All..

Was it as good as the first season?? No.. But sequels rarely are.. However, if you watch this drama without comparing it to the first season, it might not be a masterpiece but it's still a well executed drama that evokes a range of emotions.. The friendship remains a standout element as it was in the first season, but this time with new characters..

Park Jihoon is an outstanding actor.. The way he portrays sadness, agony and melancholy is crazy.. But in this season, it’s a bit hard to say Park Jihoon was the true main lead.. Two other characters completely outperformed him, Baku and Na Baek Jin.. They were the highlight of the drama for me.. Si Eun was the anchor of the drama.. But thats it.. This whole season was carried by Baku and Na Baek Jin.. This season had a genuinely talented cast and they delivered.. These are the kind of actors the industry should be promoting, not those overrated ones riding on the hype of obsessive fangirls.. It’s the truly talented people who deserve the spotlight..

Ryeo Un's performance was incredible.. He brought so much heart to the scenes with his friends and undoubtedly he totally owned the action scenes..
Bae Na Ra.. Wow.. He was exceptional.. Really gave those villainous vibes.. The fact that they showed there was goodness in him was a nice touch.. He had a past.. But that doesnt justify his actions.. [ Major spoiler incoming ] I wish they hadn't killed him off at the end.. If there is a third season I hope they build on that.. Because that was such a loss..
Lee Jun Young, even with limited screen time he just gave another really strong performance.. The bad guy rebel vibe is something he pulls off effortlessly as we have seen before.. But man he was thrilling to watch..

This drama had an amazing roster of talented yet totally underrated actors.. I hope we get to see more of them in future dramas.. It’s unfortunate that the industry often chooses overrated actors over true talent..

Jo Jung Suk's cameo was a surprise.. While I liked the cameo and it was nice to see him in that role, he didn’t leave much of an impact.. I felt the character could have benefited from a stronger, more commanding negative presence.. Which unfortunately didn't come through as powerfully as it could have..

In Ep7, Si Eun says sorry to Beom Seok when he was in a coma like situation after his accident.. I honestly don’t understand why.. Beom Seok is one of the main reasons Suho is in the hospital and yet Si Eun says sorry?? What's the logic here??

This might be a bit of a controversial opinion.. But if there is a season 3, I do wonder what role Suho would play in that circle.. Now that we have Baku who I would say not only filled his place but did it even better.. It’s hard to see how Suho fits into the dynamic from here on..

Overall, I can't deny that this drama did everything it set out to and to a very high standard.. I do wish the finale was a bit stronger.. The final clash felt underwhelming.. But it was a thrilling watch.. I am confident there are more compelling stories to tell in the Weak Hero Class Universe, so expecting a third installment as well..

I should mention Park Ji Hoon again.. The nuance with which he creates such a melancholic character who you can't help but feel sad about is awe inspiring..

P.S.. The drama started off with a quote from one of my favorite books.. The catcher in the Rye..

Sadness eye's

In the second season, as Park Ji-hoon quoted in the press conference, he added a sense of sadness to his role as Yoon Shi-woo.
At the beginning of the series, Shi-woon lived a troubled life with his sadness.
as the series progressed, he struggled with it.
Park Ji-hoon should be praised for his brilliant acting.

Mind blowing.

Finished this in 3 hours, I MISSED park ji hoon. the casting was so good so I don't get it why people are complaining? all of the actors played their role very good. I'm gonna be honest I had expected not to like this but thus is very good and a good competition to season 1. I always imagined the day suho wakes up and meets suho and in the end I sobbed, I sobbed so hard and I didn't expect to cry at all. the ost hit the spot it hit so hard I wanted to cry even more. ryeon ( I think that's his name) played his role so good. whenever he cried I cried. this season completed a part of me that was broken I'm so glad I got to see suho and si eun again though I wish they added more of their chats but it's okay. I missed them, seeing a glimpse of si eun and suho together satisfied me. and the cameo of beom seok? I'm so happy that si eun finally understood him. though, he was wrong but I felt so satisfied after seeing them. those flashbacks fit together perfectly! these lines "suho, I got into in another fight." broke me. when I say broke me I started crying it's just that the script was written so good. The cameos fit perfectly! I guess ha yi chan sent his son to comfort and protect si eun. I'm so glad I watched this. please just watch it!! off topic but park ji hoon's eyes are so beautiful!

Weak Hero Class 2 – My Thoughts After a Binge Watch

So, I just binged Weak Hero Class 2, and honestly, I enjoyed it for the most part. It picks up right where S1 left off – Su Ho is in a coma, Si Eun’s been expelled, and now he's transferred to a smaller school where rumors are flying that he “killed someone.” Not great when you’re already carrying a ton of guilt.

What I Loved:
First off, the soundtrack. Still the same as season 1, and I’m so glad they didn’t change it. It’s just perfect for the mood of the show – intense, emotional, and so atmospheric.

Park Jihoon as Yeon Si Eun – seriously, this guy doesn’t miss. His acting was just as strong as in S1, if not better. He starts off the season already looking like he’s hit rock bottom, and you feel it. His expressions were everything. That one scene where Jun Tae tells him it’s not his fault and he finally breaks down? That hit hard. Especially when he tells his mom he doesn’t want to go abroad because his friends said it’s not his fault – beautiful moment.

Also, the friendship this season was really well done. Hu Min, Jun Tae, and Hyeon Tak helping Si Eun slowly open up was such a nice progression to watch. You could tell he was starting to heal, little by little.

And okay, Hu Min and Baek Jin were doing their own thing entirely – it was like they had their own drama running parallel. Whether as friends or enemies, they had real chemistry and were low-key pulling everyone else into their whirlwind.
Episode 1 was my personal favorite. In just 40 minutes, they made me care about a brand-new character (Jun Tae), and that’s not easy. Really strong start.

The fight scenes were solid too – gritty and intense like always.
And Su Ho waking up at the end? Yes! Loved that Si Eun went to see him, this time with new friends by his side.

What Caught Me Off Guard:
Baek Jin’s death. Didn’t see it coming, and definitely didn’t expect to be that sad about it.

Final Thoughts:
Season 1 is still my favorite, but season 2 had a lot of good stuff too. The emotional weight was heavier, and while the pacing was a bit different, it was still a fun watch. Some great new characters, solid fights, and strong character development – I’m glad I stuck with it.

Addictive & Action Packed, Lacked Depth w.r.t S1

SHORT VERSION

Pros:
The characters are compelling, the action sequences and performances are stellar, and the pacing is so engaging that it’s perfect for binge-watching in one sitting. Just as I did with Season 1, Season 2 was equally addictive.

Cons:
(1) It lacked some depth in Na Baek Jin’s backstory, which was hinted at but never fully explored.
(2) I hoped for a larger role for my favorite character, Wolf (Seong Je), played by Lee Jun Young.

Overall:
Highly recommended if you’re a fan of action dramas centered on school life and don’t mind an appetite for (almost senseless) violence. It excels in action, acting, storytelling, and pacing - otherwise, like its predecessor. So if you enjoyed S1, S2 is of same class!

LONG VERSION:

While I enjoy the show for its stellar acting, gripping story, and thrilling action—much like Season 1—I’m torn between viewing it as simple entertainment or searching for a deeper message. If it’s the former, the series works perfectly as a great action drama. But if it’s the latter, even after two seasons, I’m unclear about its intentions. Does it encourage standing up to bullies by fighting back? Or does it argue that violence perpetuates an endless cycle without true resolution?

This ambiguity leaves me conflicted, as the portrayal of violence feels disconnected from reality. Having experienced bullying—directly and indirectly, though not as intense as in the show—I know that most victims stay silent, endure, and hope it ends with graduation. Rarely do they confront their bullies, a troubling truth despite stricter rules and policies. Bullying persists, spanning schools, universities, and even adult life - EVEN TODAY. This makes me wonder what the show/webtoon (not read) hopes to achieve by showcasing more violence. What message does it want the audience to grasp, and what should I take away from it?

Ultimately, I’ve chosen to enjoy the drama purely for its entertainment value. Its action-packed narrative is executed brilliantly, just like its predecessor, even if its deeper message remains uncertain.

A POWERFUL CONTINUATION OF A GREAT DRAMA - Loved S2 more than S1 ❤️

Absolutely BETTER than season 1. If S1 was a 9/10, S2 is 100% a 10/10!!!🔥

S1 was great and successful mainly because of the bromance between Si Eun and Su Ho and the undeniable chemistry of the actors. Their relationship carried the show. 👍 But I personally never liked Bom Seok and Yeong I, so I didn't care about them as a group and disliked the other villains, they were boring. 🥱The plot was rather simple and straightforward, the action scenes were good, the acting of course amazing. But S2...

S2 took it to a WHOLE new level!!! 😱The action, the violence, the emotional struggles, the new environment and new friendships. The relentless villains. I loved everything about it. ❤️

The quartet was SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL. ☺️Now, add to them that one member we all love and we have the PERFECT combination. ✨They all are so energetic, so good for each other, with no toxicity among them. I'm literally begging for a 3rd season because I desperately need more of them!!! 🙏

NOTE: Park Ji Hoon is once again fantastic in his role but I gotta say. Ryeo Un stole this season for me. I love that kid so much, he's so talented and he ATE this role!!! My man got such a great build to play Hu Min, he's got shoulders for daysssss 😍 Add him to the cast of "Bloodhounds" S2, he'd fit right in!!!😁

Anyways, S2 exceeded my expectations!!! 👏The wait was soooo worth it. PLZ, NETFLIX, RENEW FOR SEASON 3!!!🥳

Weak Hero Class 2 – Battling Brutality in the Schoolyard.

Weak Hero Class 2 builds on the emotional intensity of season 1, with even more brutal fights and deeper character growth. Yeon Si-eun’s journey is raw and gripping as he faces tougher enemies and battles his inner demons. The action is sharp, the story is tight, and the friendships feel real.

But it was a bit disappointing that after Suho woke up from his coma, we didn’t get to see more of him. I really hoped there would be a scene where he and Si-eun talked again or even got introduced to Si-eun’s new friend group. That emotional closure was missing. I hope so that there is a s3 of it
