A Sequel That Lost Its Punch

After the explosive intensity and emotional brutal depth of s1, my expectations were sky-high for the second season. Season 1 captured lightning in a bottle, raw storytelling, tightly choreographed action, and layered characters that felt both vulnerable and powerful. Sadly s2 struggles to live up to that legacy, it didn't deliver.

The most glaring issue is its pacing s1 moved with purpose, every fight and conversation pushing the plot forward, s2 meanders. The stakes feel less urgent, and the tension that once gripped viewers is often replaced by filler scenes and redundant dialogue. the episodes were too short to get into relate and study every character.

Character development also takes a hit. Yeon Si-eun, once a fascinating blend of intellect and bottled-up rage, feels diluted. Instead of evolving naturally, his arc seems forced, with less emotional payoff. The new characters introduced lack the charisma and complexity of the original trio, making it hard to invest in their stories.

The action a highlight of the first season is still present, but without the emotional stakes, it often feels like style over substance. We see punches fly, but the pain behind them is missing. it's very unrealistic and mostly fictional, 1 guy taking out 5 dudes no scratches no fracture.

In short, s2 isn’t a total misfire, but it’s a significant step down from its predecessor. It had the potential to deepen the world and characters we loved, but instead delivers a less focused, less impactful continuation. i was finding it difficult to finish the drama, i kept waiting for the turn of events but it never happened.

Weak Hero Class 2 – Battling Brutality in the Schoolyard.

Weak Hero Class 2 builds on the emotional intensity of season 1, with even more brutal fights and deeper character growth. Yeon Si-eun’s journey is raw and gripping as he faces tougher enemies and battles his inner demons. The action is sharp, the story is tight, and the friendships feel real.

But it was a bit disappointing that after Suho woke up from his coma, we didn’t get to see more of him. I really hoped there would be a scene where he and Si-eun talked again or even got introduced to Si-eun’s new friend group. That emotional closure was missing. I hope so that there is a s3 of it

Super Worth it!

Weak Hero Class Season 2 is nothing short of amazing. It dives deep into the life of Yeon Si-eun, a quiet but strong student who faces challenges head-on in his new school, Eunjang High. The story pulls you into his world of struggles, growth, and unexpected friendships.

This season doesn't just focus on fights and action—though those scenes are absolutely thrilling—it also captures the raw emotions of its characters. You feel every heartbreak, every moment of anger, and every spark of hope. Si-eun's journey to stand up against bullies and find meaning in his relationships is something that will stay with you long after the series ends.

What makes Weak Hero Class Season 2 so special is how real it feels. The characters aren’t just heroes or villains; they’re people with dreams, flaws, and stories to tell. The friendships Si-eun forms along the way are heartwarming, showing us the power of connection even in the darkest times.

The visuals are stunning, with each scene crafted to reflect the emotions perfectly. The music? It stays with you, making every moment even more impactful.

If you’re looking for a show that’s not just entertaining but also deeply moving, Weak Hero Class Season 2 is the one. It’s more than a series—it’s an emotional experience that makes you think about life, friendship, and courage. Don’t miss out on this masterpiece!

Addictive & Action Packed, Lacked Depth w.r.t S1

SHORT VERSION

Pros:
The characters are compelling, the action sequences and performances are stellar, and the pacing is so engaging that it’s perfect for binge-watching in one sitting. Just as I did with Season 1, Season 2 was equally addictive.

Cons:
(1) It lacked some depth in Na Baek Jin’s backstory, which was hinted at but never fully explored.
(2) I hoped for a larger role for my favorite character, Wolf (Seong Je), played by Lee Jun Young.

Overall:
Highly recommended if you’re a fan of action dramas centered on school life and don’t mind an appetite for (almost senseless) violence. It excels in action, acting, storytelling, and pacing - otherwise, like its predecessor. So if you enjoyed S1, S2 is of same class!

LONG VERSION:

While I enjoy the show for its stellar acting, gripping story, and thrilling action—much like Season 1—I’m torn between viewing it as simple entertainment or searching for a deeper message. If it’s the former, the series works perfectly as a great action drama. But if it’s the latter, even after two seasons, I’m unclear about its intentions. Does it encourage standing up to bullies by fighting back? Or does it argue that violence perpetuates an endless cycle without true resolution?

This ambiguity leaves me conflicted, as the portrayal of violence feels disconnected from reality. Having experienced bullying—directly and indirectly, though not as intense as in the show—I know that most victims stay silent, endure, and hope it ends with graduation. Rarely do they confront their bullies, a troubling truth despite stricter rules and policies. Bullying persists, spanning schools, universities, and even adult life - EVEN TODAY. This makes me wonder what the show/webtoon (not read) hopes to achieve by showcasing more violence. What message does it want the audience to grasp, and what should I take away from it?

Ultimately, I’ve chosen to enjoy the drama purely for its entertainment value. Its action-packed narrative is executed brilliantly, just like its predecessor, even if its deeper message remains uncertain.

INSANE.

I’m seeing a lot of negative reviews but I’m so so satisfied with this season. INCREDIBLE acting. Funny, INCREDIBLY sad. There were a few moments where my heart genuinely sank to my actual BUTT. I am so incredibly happy with the ending🥹🥹 I don’t wanna spoil too much but it’s so good i don’t even know what to say. I finished it in one sitting, such beautiful acting, beautiful characters, everything was insane. I recommend 100%. I cried EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. But it was so worth it. Finished half a box of tissues but again SO worth it. I loved loved LOVED this season so much. There were also a lot of moments where I wished I was in the show so I could beat tf out of some characters INCLUDING SIEUN’S DUMB MOTHER. GOD I HATE HER.

Here We Are Again -- Impressed!!

My much-anticipated Weak Hero Class 2 is finally here. As we all know, following the traumatic events of the first season, Yeon Si-eun transfers to Eunjang High School, hoping for a fresh start. However, he soon faces a new wave of violence and more formidable enemies. Haunted by his past inability to protect his friends, Si-eun is determined to confront the escalating dangers head-on while navigating new friendships. Together, they face a ruthless gang known as the Alliance. This new season delves deeper into Si-eun's emotional scars and his determination to protect his new friends, adding significant emotional weight to the action. Every fight feels personal, raising the stakes. Similar to the first, I kept thinking, how are these high school kids; where are their teachers, parents, families -- how do the adults around them not know what their minor children's are involved in; just overwhelming but I understand we as viewers were given the view into these students lives from their prespective. If I was irritated with anyone in this drama, it was Si-eun's mom. She seemed to be clueless about her son's emotional and mental state, or maybe she was desperate. Regardless, I found myself wondering what had happened to his dad.

The introduction of Park Hu-min, Seo Jun-tae, and Go Hyeon-tak, with their distinct personalities and growing bonds with Si-eun, makes a strong impression. I was drawn to Park Hu-min's unique and even comedic approach to fighting, which brings a new dynamic to the series. And I must say that Park Ji-hoon's portrayal of the evolving Yeon Si-eun is award-worthy, showcasing his character's intelligence, emotional depth, and strategic acumen.  This second season stays true to its predecessor, with even more intense action. It delivers visceral and impactful fight sequences that leave viewers feeling every blow.

I know this is an adaptation, but I welcome the changes from the Webtoon. The drama takes some creative liberties as an adaptation, particularly with character backstories. I like that this season strongly emphasizes Si-eun forming new bonds, especially since his first season was a nightmare, especially with O Beom Seok's betrayal. I like that it is more grounded, restrained, and thoughtfully shaped by his past, in a way. I felt this season was more methodical. One can see that he had matured, and that is a testament to the writing and, of course, the acting.

This second season is a worthy successor to the first, delivering intense action and exploring deeper emotional themes, albeit a bit more subdued than the first, which I believe is intentional. The new cast members are well-written and acted, but Park Ji-hoon remains the standout, consistently delivering a compelling performance. I have seen a few reviews concerning the changes from Webtoon this season and how it affected the overall impact, but I disagree. Despite the changes, the drama remains an intense action drama, featuring impactful storytelling and compelling character dynamics. This season, just like the last, took me on another gripping and emotionally charged journey through the brutal world of high school violence, highlighting the power of friendship and resilience in the face of overwhelming odds.

Solid 2nd season of a series that wrecked me with its gut-wrenching youth drama in season 1 !

Even if the series does not reach the same level of incredible turmoil of emotions that "Weak Hero Class 1" made me live end of 2022, it is a relief to be able to say that "Weak Hero Class 2" is worth the hype (and the long wait) !

Once again, the story is portraying strong friendships amidst school bullying and violence. Despite some overlapping thematic, the series is quite different from its first season. Indeed, the main character must handle traumatic event from its past, leading him to almost take a backseat in some situations letting the light shine much strongly on his entourage. It is not necessarily a default, but the "weak hero" trope is less exploited here than previously, as the hero is not as much an underdog as before.

In addition to the very different narrative arcs, this season feel also less indie: clearly Netflix budget is now there and very noticeable. There are some really beautiful and striking images, some impressive fighting sequences, very brutal. The reverse of the medal is that there is also less contemplative moments and that the production while feeling more refined, lost part of its gritty charm. The soundtrack remains one of the strongest point : the opening song but also and foremost every songs ending the episodes, with some impressive raps is worth a listen while the generic are going by.

What stays the same is that the acting is top-notch ! The ensemble cast does an excellent job : among them, Park Ji Hoon and Ryeo Un are outstanding. The first one has eyes that tell deep and sorrowful tales without saying a word ! The latter, who definitely bulked up for the part, delivers a really solid performance as well. He clearly took some inspiration from a character played by Choi Hyun Wook and it is an excellent choice given his role in the scenario.

I would recommend this to people that have seen the season one. It really provide a true closure with the hero undergoing an emotional inner journey. It is a story about growth in the middle of traumatic events. If you like baston manga, this is clearly a series for you !

Fearless and Brutal!

Everything looks perfect!!!

Our hero may look weak. But once he fights back, everyone will tremble!!

However, there are some things that seem strange to me! For the villain character, it seems like the actor selection is too old for a 34-year-old high school student!
His old face is very visible when viewed from a close distance! Unlike season 1 where all the actors were under 30 years old at the time!
I'm a little disappointed with the villain's appearance, he looks more like an ahjusi than a schoolboy!

Let's hope there's a season 3!!!

This show has and will continue to have me in a chokehold.

While it wasn't quite as strong as the first season this was such a great show. Sieun closing himself off to the world again was heartbreaking. I'm so glad that Jun tae was there and by his side despite his brooding mood. Hu Min and Gotak were amazing characters and their banter added a lightheartedness that I felt was needed. Hu Min saying they had "melted the ice princess" made me laugh.

Final thoughts: THEY WOKE MY MAN'S MAN UP!!!!!!

What a WEBTOON Reader would have expected

Now a lot of people are saying it doesn’t live up to season 1 and I’m here to say that is sort of true. Weak Hero is a WEBTOON adaptation and while Weak Hero 1 was a prologue this season is not. This season follows the WEBTOON to a certain extent. I was able to see different scenes that were in the WEBTOON in this season. Some part are different because they took out some characters but overall it somewhat similar. If you have read the WEBTOON then you can see that this is a good adaptation given that it had to match season 1 a bit, was only 8 episodes and each episode was only 40-50 minutes long, but it is a bit rushed. If you haven’t read the WEBTOON then chances are you will wonder why the pacing is so fast and how this doesn’t really match season 1 at all. Overall I give it a 10 because this is very much what I expect and it was amazing

P.S watch the end credit of episode 8 because they added a short scene in it.

high expectations compared to what it really is

I want to start this off by saying that i’ve watched the first season back in 2022 and it has been my favorite kdrama ever since. i’ve waited 3 years and my expectations were indeed high, maybe even too high.

Back to last year, i noticed that Suho’s name wasn’t in the list of the starring cast on this app. I honestly thought it was weird, and maybe he would eventually come back as a surprise or something.

After the series came out I watched it, excited for a possible comeback of his, and for them to reunite.
For the first 7 episodes I noticed how there were no signs of him.. Just in Sieun’s thoughts or when he visited the hospital.
Then, as I watched the 8th episode I started wondering where he was.
It’s very common for dramas and movies in general to make one of the most important characters come back in the last episode, so I understood it.
At minute 40ish I really started wondering where he was, and then, when Sieun received the phone call I knew it would be something regarding Suho.
I was so excited.. just for him to appear for a minute.. and for them to have a 3 sentences conversation.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that Sieun seemed content after a long time, and they met each other again, but I expected something more.. you know?
I feel like they could’ve gave him a bit more screen time than just a mere minute, after making us wait for 3 YEARS, which is crazy long for this.

Also, it doesn’t compare to the 1st season. It’s completely different.
I actually appreciate the new characters, which are nice, but I miss some of the old ones.
Also, Beomseok? The only time he had shown up was in the ring when Sieun was dreaming while in a deep sleep. I feel like it was too different from the previous season.

This being said, I’m not sure if the wait can be justified.. My expectations were too high, definitely.
I hoped for something better.
I’m great that at least we got Sieun, i guess.

The acting was great as usual, and i really liked the music.
