Not like I expected:(

"UPDATED REVIEW"
**it's just my personal opinion**

I found it incredibly disappointing. I had really high expectations, especially after reading the webtoon and seeing how well season 1 was done. Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out the way I imagined.
The drama felt rushed, and it seemed like there was no real character development or meaningful connection between them. It was just fight after fight, which stripped away the true value of the original story.

On top of that, we didn’t even get to see some of the secondary characters we were so excited for, like Theo, Jin Ga Yul, Hakho… 😭 Like, where are my favorite characters?! How are they not even included in the drama?!

And above all, they completely destroyed Baekjin’s character.
He went from being such a remarkable and legendary character to just an average, forgettable one. It’s honestly heartbreaking, especially after seeing how much potential he had in the webtoon.

Also, where are Sieun’s studying scenes? The ones where he solves problems creatively, especially in math? Where is Baekjin’s mysterious curiosity toward Sieun’s answers? Where are Sieun’s calculated and strategic thoughts before a fight — you know, the reason why he’s called the "White Mamba"? and Where is the hierarchy list of the strongest and weakest fighters?

In short, all the charm and identity of the webtoon disappeared. If it was going to end up like this, I honestly wish they had just stopped after season 1.
My overall impression of this drama was completely ruined.
LITERALLY.

The only positive thing I can say is that the actors did an amazing job portraying their characters. It was at least a small consolation.

Thank you Jihoon, Min-young, Min-jae, Ryeo Un and Jun Young for your hard work!

mid=bad

not going to lie a seven is too much but I did enjoy it not like the first season or the webtoon if I'm being honest I prefer the original theme of the story the script writer I don't know what he or she was thinking but yeah its ridiculous overall this is not for me not going to lie like what's the point of waiting three years for this garbage I should just give it a five but it was okay mediocre

this year so far been a lot of terrible webtoon adaptation first was tbate now this like bro I don't want to see a 27 year old man acting like a child and like there's so many talented actors young talented that should have got this job but I know somebody have got it through connection you know but damn what are they thinkin

I don't get why these companies want to make their own IPS but they already have an IP of something that they could easily just oh my God

a simplified adaptation with no substance to stand alone

while this season wasn't bad it had many flaws that at first I couldn't pick point but after doing another rewatch, I can finally give a proper review.

Throughout the beginning of season 2 it sets up the antagonist and how they will affect Se-iun, that's great in all but the problem lies when the pacing doesn't work so we can't really root nor understand why this gang is trying to get to multiple schools involved and how that's has to do with baku and the rest of the main characters until the very end where it is revealed it's all done to donate, and that could have work but the pacing didn't give enough time to set this up.

the characters felt bleak and didn't have a spark like in the manhwa nor the first season, it felt like all these characters just where there and didn't contribute to the story, and when they did they contributed for and episode or two then left or some how became supporting roles, for example, where introduced to Seo Jun Tae(Eugene gale) and how he is being bullied and taken advantage of by the school bully Hyo man, and due to Se-iun Jun Tae stands up for himself and stops being "cowardly" but after that it felt like Jun Tae was just a side character with a half-ass character development. this doesn't only happen to Jun Tae in the story but he stood out to me.

next, Se-iun didn't feel like this was his story, nor did it try to involve him in it, Instead of having a calculated Se-iun we had last season we have a guy who doesn't properly think over his actions, I love how we see his internal discussions with bumsoek in the later episode with showed some kind of character development, but that development should have been shown more and and a slower steady pace then it was. what made me mad about seiun's character this season was how we lacked a resemblance on the affects he gained from last season, yes he feels guilt and sadness, but not as complex nor as a character who is fully against making new friends shown by how fast he gets all friendly with Jun Tae

the charm that season 1 had was just not there for this season, it feels more of an empty story with no substance... scenes feel repetitive and stale while others serve no purpose at all in my opinion, the situation that the characters last season felt somewhat realistic(in the realm of action kdrama) but this season all reason is gone the situation that is encounter, and I wouldn't be so annoyed by this due to the fact that the manhwa ain't that realistic, but from the stand point of season 1 it just doesn't work.

the villains didn't feel like threats nore threatening and felt like one dimensional characters just doing stuff for nothing, the only villain that had some depth was Na Baek Jin(Donald)and his actions but after that that wasn't fully developed for the viewer to get in thrilled in his story, it felt like I was being bothered when any scenes with baku and Na Baek Jin's character should up, like I get they where friends who fell apart but the point of story is showing not telling, I want to see their fall out and not just see these scenes where they mentioned how they aren't friends....

lastly, I just felt like this season didn't create any good memories for me like at all, nothing was memorable and many episodes where unbearable to watch, I was bored for many scenes and if not bored confused due to the lack of pacing nor actual thrilling writing of this season it felt rushed, boring, a waist of time, and lackluster at best. but at the end of the day these are all my opinions, can can disagree with me, but this is how I feel.(also is whc2 getting a 3rd season, cause I need it to stop here, this should be its last season....)

Not Real Weak Hero but a Good Fanfiction

Let me say this first! This is not real Weak Hero, but a good fanfiction that is like a different universe with same characters and not so similar events. It could've been a masterpiece with something like 50 min x 16 ep x 3 seasons but let's say if you didn't read webtoon, then it was a good drama with a different story.

Especially the first season had very comprehensive story with a deep understanding of the characters but, a huge BUT, the background story with Suho/Stephen was only 7-8 chapters of the webtoon, so the 8 episode was enough to create an emotional story with a good story line. On the other hand, the conflict between Union and Sieun/Gray's friends was the main story of the webtoon which is like 267 episodes. Therefore, they had to rush the story in second season of it, which wasn't a good idea if you ask me. It didn't give me the same feeling with the first season. Firstly, the characters wasn't as deep as they were in first season. Secondly, they had to skip all of the important characters related to Union or Sieun, important events and everything else to keep it simple and short.

The best part of it was the casting. All actors did a good job. I loved how Lee Jun Young portrayed Wolf/Geum Seong Je. He was as crazy as Wolf since the first scene. Donald/Na Baek Jin could be better, but no matter who, there will always be a better choice for all the characters.

Would I watch it again? Definitely no but I will read the webtoon again. :)

"Season 2 Had Its Moments, But It Just Couldn’t Live Up to the Masterpiece of Season 1

I’ve been waiting for Season 2 for so long, and I had my expectations up high. Honestly, I was super excited to dive back into the world and see what would happen next. I devoured the show, but I couldn’t help feeling like something was off. There were just way too many fight scenes, and it felt like the events were rushed—like everything was happening too fast. The pacing just didn’t have the same flow that Season 1 had.

The first season was just so good, it felt like a complete masterpiece to me. The characters had so much depth, and the story really hit you in the feels. Season 2 just didn’t live up to that same magic. The characters didn’t feel as fleshed out, and I missed that emotional connection I had with them before.

But there was one thing that i really loved and it was that Suho woke up. That moment was honestly exactly what I needed. It felt like the show gave me this moment of healing. I think it was such an important moment for both the character and for the audience.

Overall, while I loved being back in the world of the show, Season 2 just couldn’t match up to the masterpiece that was Season 1.

MESSED UP

I had high hopes for Weak Hero season 2 on Netflix, but what did I get? A FREAKING MESS OF A STORY AND A TOTALLY MISCAST BAEKJIN NA!

BAEKJIN NA IS PARK HUMIN’S CHILDHOOD FRIEND? ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME?!

You ruined Baekjin Na’s character completely!
The only one who deserves any praise is the actor playing Seongje Geum.

watch s1 to know s2

ok this season was so so good I really love it ,
This season was really amazing. I also watched the first season, and it was great as well.
Each season has its own special beauty.
In the first season, the friendship between Si-eun and Suho was the best part of the story, and that’s why I continued watching the series.
As for the second season, all the characters were good, and their friendship with Si-eun was really wonderful. However, the quick development of their friendship and the lack of details about it felt a little incomplete. Still, I really loved it.
Pako’s character was the best part for me in the second season. He made the season really good. I loved his character and how he influenced Si-eun’s personality. and make him more confident .
I also loved his fighting skills and how strong he was, and I appreciated how the director focused on his life and personality.
However, his relationship with Baek Ji felt a bit incomplete.
As for the other characters, they were good.
Si-eun’s character in the first season was better than in the second season, but I loved how he cared about Pako and defended him.
The fight scenes were a little exaggerated, but still, they were fine.
Also, I wanted there to be a fight between Ji-seong and Pako, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen.
As for the ending, it felt incomplete — there should have been more episodes.
But overall, the season was beyond amazing and very beautiful.

Enjoyable but…

I think it is better view that series on a different vision than a webtoon adaptation. Like an independent series. I believe webtoon fans could be disappointed in that way because there are too many differences to point out. With a fresh approach, it’ll be more enjoyable but not flawless.

It’s enjoyable because it’s fun, you get attached to most characters (more than in season 1) and you even get to like some vilains. And I think it’s the main ingredient to a series/movie.

About acting;
In comparison to the first season, the male lead is different. And it is troublesome because, we can hardly relate with his attitude/stance/look and so on. I am not sure if it’s a bad directing or a bad acting. I am tempted to think it is both. If an actor can’t play well, a director doesn’t explain well.

As for the others, they show real skills particularly on the « villain » side even tho there is no true vilain here. I am impressed by the performance of CMY truly.
I believe everyone is gonna praise Ryeo Un but after watching some interviews I realized that it’s a good performance because the character he plays is basically him. Doesn’t mean it’s not great but maybe it nuances the acting performance here. Honestly I didn’t find him convincing before that. However, the series is carried by him and Seo Jun Tae.

I don’t know if you noticed but episodes are shorter. In a sense it is good because I still found a lot of unecessary moments that I didn’t feel in the previous season. And that is the biggest flaw in the series to me. It means the script has nor fully been prepared but then why do we have to wait so long for season 2 to come out ? Of course I am sure Netflix also « purged » the script as always…

I brought up many flaws but I still think it is enjoyable.

High School’s Never Just About Grades, Is It?

Don't get me wrong, I knew what I was getting into when I went into this. I'd watched season and had this on my to watch list for the longest time, waiting for its release. It's the only Korean high school drama I've allowed myself to watch because what do you mean kids treat their classmates like punching bags just for fun. It's upsetting. Nonetheless, this I was willing to get into because there's someone fight those bullies back.

So, it's a dark, emotional, and intense ride through the harsh world of Eunjang High. At the center is Yeon Si-eun. His best friend Suho is in a coma after a brutal incident.

Just like the first season, what really makes this drama shine is the core friendship group – Si-eun, Seo Jun-tae, Gotak (Go Hyun-tak), and Baku (Park Hu-min). Jun-tae starts off timid but grows into someone who wants to stand up for himself. Gotak is the dependable one with a strong sense of justice, while Baku… oh man, Baku is the wild card. 😂 He’s crazy, intimidating and incredibly loyal.

The villains are properly villainous too. Na Baek-jin is the cold, calculating type, and his sidekick Seon-jae is the kind of guy you just love to hate. Add in the Union. Every fight, every confrontation keeps you on edge.

What I loved:

The story is intense but never feels forced – it tackles bullying, trauma, and survival in a really honest way.

The characters are amazing. You grow with them, cry with them, cheer for them.

The friendship dynamics are some of the best I’ve seen – not cheesy, just real.

The fight scenes are sharp and strategic – not just mindless action.

What didn’t quite hit for me:

Si-eun’s mom’s role felt a bit underdeveloped – I wish we got more depth there.

Some of the fight-heavy moments can feel a bit dense or repetitive, especially if you're more into character-driven scenes.

If you’re looking for something light, this isn’t it. That should have been obvious but just in case🤷🏽‍♀️. It’s intense almost all the way through.

All in all, this drama hits well emotionally, narratively, and visually. It’s not just about fighting; it’s about healing, loyalty, and standing up when everything’s pushing you down. Highly recommend if you're into powerful coming-of-age stories with real guts and heart.

Lacks depth. Si Eun not enough screen time. Muscle instead of brain:(

Extremely disappointed. Weak Hero 2 lacked everything that made season one AMAZING. There are a lot of things wrong.

Weak Hero 1, a gut wrenching gem that made you sit at the edge of your seat, anticipating the next scene. The characters were developed, and all of them had their own motives to act the way they did. The friendship was developed at a natural pace, and the trust between them felt real. Yeon Si Eun used his intelligence to fight against the bullies, which was unique and interesting. His desperation showed through, and the effects of the bullying was very distressing.

Weak Hero 2: The new characters, including the villains didn't have character depth and fights were not heartbreaking. It didn't make me care enough about them, and didn`t leave an emotional impact like season 1. Unrealistic: they kept getting blows to the head, and continued their day like nothing happened. Baku wasn't intimidating enough, and I couldn't really take his character seriously. Lots of the high schoolers looked like adults, which pulled you out of the story.

Yeon Si Eun fought more with his muscles than with his mind. The pen deserves an award for making the fight scenes more interesting, thank you. I missed his calculative brain.

Overall, Great performances, especially Park Ji Hoon who nailed his characters expressions and intense eyes. (I LOVE HIS EYES.) If you enjoy fighting kdrama like Study Group, then this is for you.

I, like everybody else who saw the first season was so glad to see a second season come out. Unfortunately the second season lacked in so many ways. Every episode to me was meaningless. I thought for sure the way the first season ended was going to pick up where it left off but it started to where things happened a year later and the MML decided not to fight anymore because of what happened the year prior....SAY WHAT???
There's the usual bullies taunting the weak and yes, you have a hero come in to save the bullied and they become best friends but now you created an enemy so you're going to have to fight to stay alive.... All in high school where there were no teachers around for the most part.

Throughout all of the episodes it seemed like it dragged. The MML was actually weaker in this than the first. Everything came to life in episode 8 but even that dragged a bit. I watched for the fighting and yes there was fighting but not a lot. It seemed like season two lost it's luster in every episode but I managed to stick it out. I was able to finish this in one day and now I don't have to worry about when I will go back to finish the rest if the drama wasn't as good as I thought.

Besides the main character, only two original cast members from the first season was in this but barely. Before the actual ending on the last episode, it was a eye roll-especially to a medical person. I thought that was the end but something bad happened after that with no explanation as to what happened.

To me the way this drama was it could've been left to just one season. The way it really ended makes me wonder if there's going to be a season 3. I don't know how that would work but I'm hoping it'll just be kept to two seasons.
