I'm being lenient with the ratings??

the story was literally FLAT I did not feel any connection between the characters..if the backstory (the 300 yes ago) part of the story was shown first and then the present time .I could've probably liked it better..since I felt everything was too fast without any development whatsoever...

and also tbh I was actually supporting Denis and seol (I knew they weren't going to be together at the end but still cuz I felt there was a little more depth to their feelings a ) not to mention I only supported Denis until he became too obsessed to the point of killing the Director

I felt nooo no no emotional connection with the drama probably coz it was too fast paced...I haven't read the webtoon yet so I cannot say if it's adapted nicely or not

I literally fast forwarded thru most of the eps..also first 2 or 3 eps were like literally plain fansercice

moreover the romance between the couple also felt bland with no depth to their relationship whatsoever...I never got butterflies watching them kiss...while on the other hand..seol just supporting and helping Denis through a panic attack felt very nice to watch
usually I'm more interested in kissing scenes and wd blush even at the sight of them holding hands but this time I never blushed🙄🙄

and the acting wasn't bland but I feel if the story was better or more nicely executed I wouldn't have anything bad to say about the acting because again there was no connettionnnn

one of the saddest dramas i have ever seen

i watched this last night and oh my god… just… oh. my. god. i thought this was going to be a lighthearted fluffy BL, but what the heck did i just watch!? most dramas don’t make me feel emotion, i just watch because i’m bored, but this one? this one had me on the floor, SOBBING. when i tell you i had to do a meditation exercise after episode 10, i mean it. i burst out in tears, it was super dramatic, but it felt right. for what the story was about, and for how it was acted, crying felt perfect. i was so lost because i was genuinely convinced that the story was real, and now for everything to just- be gone???

it’s an emotional roller coaster. i really wish i would’ve read the reviews before watching, but im kind of glad i didn’t, because if i saw that it was a sad show, i wouldn’t have watched it. i’m so glad i didn’t read, and watched the show blindly, because this is one of the BEST BL dramas i have EVER seen.

Disappointed

I was going to give this a 7.5 because it lacked a bit of flavor but for that ending, it deserve a 6. An, ' It was all a dream' is the worst thing that any show can do. It is lazy writing. I am so disappointed cause I like the first few episode. This series also didn't really do well with the drama and the supernatural part. Also the 'villain' was so fucking boring, he existed to just be a hurdle to the couple and he didn't even do that part well. We didn't know anything about his character, throughout the series he was just a whiney bitch, so why was there the need to put him there anyways. He contributed little to nothing. It was all lackluster and to top it off it have only a 14 mins run time, if you minus the recap of the previous two episodes. Like that was so unnecessary, you already have little run time, why waste it recaps. Who asked for it? A series can do well even if it has little run time. A very good example is 'Blueming'. What was the point of this?

The story felt bland and monodimensional, without tangible character development or a plot. It's a light-hearted and quick drama to watch between darker stories.
My major issue with this drama was the abundance of plot holes and the lack of closure the story—and the viewer—needed. This could have been addressed had they only increased the episode length and put some effort into writing a script coherent with the premises.
And no, I cannot accept that, as a viewer, I had to be left alone with my thoughts, trying to fill in all the holes the scriptwriter couldn't care less to amend.

In conclusion, this drama was a waste of a good and quick-paced story that I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

PROS:

MCs are eye candy;
Respect, communication, and willingness to adapt and overcome issues... Kinda

CONS:

Not a refreshing setting;
Plot holes;
Star-crossed lovers + love that spans lifetimes;
Characters acting out of their characters for no apparent reason

J'adorerais les voir s'inviter à dîner pour une seconde saison...

Mal aimé et sévèrement critiqué, The Director Who Buys Me Dinner est pourtant une charmante romance du bureau avec une pointe de fantasy avec des scènes entraînantes et une jolie narration.

Le couple possède un charme indéniable, bien qu'il puisse passer inaperçu dans les premiers épisodes. C'est une relation qui évolue au fil de l'intrigue, faisant également fleurir l'alchimie entre eux. Les interactions sont mignonnes et convaincantes, sans avoir besoin d'en ajouter davantage. Les baisers sont un intéressant reflet de l'évolution de leur relation (et alchimie). Le premier n'était pas terrible, le deuxième était plus intense, pour finir par le troisième qui était adorable.

Un autre attrait du couple, c'est leur harmonie visuelle. Park Young Woo possède des traits saillants qui lui donne cet air distant, presque froid, exactement comme le personnage de Min Yu Dam. De l'autre côté, Park Jeong Woo possède des traits plus en rondeurs lui donnant un air plus doux et chaleureux, ce qui colle parfaitement au personnage de Seol Dong Baek.

En revanche, le personnage de Denis (Jang You Sung) me laisser perplexe. Au départ, j'ai supposé qu'il pouvait être lié à leurs vies antérieures (je pensais qu'il était l'archer). Pourtant… Denis n'est qu'un élément perturbateur sans réel enjeu si ce n'est appuyer sur le bouton rouge. Peut-être que le webtoon développe davantage le personnage.

Le final est un retournement surprenant, car peu habituel. Aucun doute qu'il fait son petit effet.

La fin m'a rappelé celle de Kissable Lips (de la même réalisatrice). Elle sort des sentiers battus et brise le cycle des fins habituelles du genre avec une entourloupe grotesque pour une happy end. La fin est en accord avec l'intrigue. Quand on y réfléchit deux minutes, ça ne pouvait pas finir autrement. D'autant plus qu'une fin n'est pas nécessairement la fin de tout.

D'ailleurs, et contrairement à Kissable Lips, la fin de The Director Who Buys Me Dinner active le paramètre de l'espoir. Plus encore, les personnages se retrouvent. Sans les souvenirs de l'un, mais ils se retrouvent.

Au fond, le réel défaut de ce drama, c'est d'être trop court. Cela dit, c'est le défaut d'une majorité de KBL. Des idées merveilleuses, mais des formats trop condensés pour exploiter tout le potentiel. Néanmoins, il reste un plaisir non discutable pour moi. Dans la même veine que A Breeze of Love qui, malgré son succès mitigé aussi, est l'un de mes KBL préférés.

En bref, bien qu'il soit trop court pour révéler tout son potentiel, The Director Who Buys Me Dinner dégage un charme unique avec des personnages attrayants et une jolie note d'espoir.

UM CLICHÊ RAZOAVELMENTE TRABALHADO COM UM FINAL DECEPCIONANTE

Inicialmente, não achei que esse BL fosse uma fantasia que referenciava vidas passadas (Sim, meus amores, é um BL à la Fluke Natouch), acreditava piamente que tivesse um enredo mais parecido com A Business Proposal. Me decepcionei com ele? De maneira alguma, pois eu sou aficionado por fantasias. Não sou do tipo que analisa fotografia e produção, meu foco é mais a atuação dos atores, a composição das cenas e o enredo da trama em si. Os atores atuam muito bem, realmente se empenhavam nas cenas, embora a química do casal principal deixasse muito a desejar. O enredo em si é meio batido, principalmente com quem já está acostumado a assistir os BLs tailandeses em que enfiam o Fluke (Sério, vivem enfiando esse homem maravilhoso em todo o drama que tem reencarnação, é uma patifaria danada), porém é uma fantasia gostosa de se acompanhar. Os episódios são curtinhos e super rápidos, então é algo que você maratona em cerca de três horinhas. Infelizmente, eu tenho uma enorme preguiça e o ódio abismal por finais em aberto.

Eu sou o tipo de telespectador que não serve pra imaginar o futuro dos personagens, porque eu acabo sempre criando inúmeros finais possíveis e, honestamente, quase nunca são finais felizes. Particularmente, os finais em aberto me deixam extremamente desconfortável e, realmente, acabei sentindo a dor do Seol Dongbaek nos últimos minutos do drama. Para quem gosta de dramas com finais em aberto e que sejam curtinhos e rápidos de serem assistidos, é uma ótima pedida. Contudo, se assim como eu, finais em aberto te deixam desconfortável e te deixam emocionalmente mal com as inúmeras possibilidades para o futuro das personagens, por favor, dê uma chance porque o dorama ainda vale a pena mesmo assim. Não entrou para a minha lista de favoritos e, certamente, não irei assistir novamente como sempre costumo fazer com os doramas e BLs que me apaixono. Apenas assisti ele, pois o hype estava muito grande e o pessoal parecia estar curtindo. Mas o final em aberto é uma grande questão para mim.

BL coreana a suo modo apprezzabile ma fortemente penalizzata da una brevissima durata

Visione più della durata di un film di media lunghezza che di una serie vera e propria, complessivamente conta 10 episodi da 15 minuti scarsi l'uno, se si considera che ogni episodio parte con un recap dell'episodio precedente seguito dalla sigla.
La breve durata è sicuramente il difetto principale del drama, poichè la storia proposta non ha davvero possibilità di essere presentata e sviluppata in modo soddisfacente. Il coinvolgimento divino, la questione della maledizione, l'attesa per secoli e la reincarnazione sono tutti elementi che - introdotti e gestiti a velocità supersonica - finiscono per rasentare un po' l'assurdo e creare una confusione con effetto non-sense in molti passaggi. Le dinamiche a monte non sono ben chiare e - nonostante un flashback dedicato in uno degli ultimi episodi - non chiare rimarranno. Lo stesso personaggio di Denis non verrà mai spiegato bene, per cui il suo comportamento rimarrà in molti casi un mezzo punto di domanda. Il cast è ridotto all'osso e le interazioni con i personaggi secondari pure, poichè lo scarso tempo a disposizione viene investito - comprensibilmente - tutto sui protagonisti. Il finale, nel suo complesso, ci sta.
Detto questo ho trovato la recitazione davvero molto buona, i due attori protagonisti - generalmente abituati ad essere personaggi secondari di supporto se non addirittura comparse - mostrano di meritare a pieno titolo il ruolo principale, e non mi spiacerebbe vederli impegnati in qualcosa di più corposo.
Al di là della trama, che dicevo è concentrata e semplificata al punto da penalizzare fortemente l'apprezzabilità della storia, le modalità relazionali che si sviluppano tra i due, per quanto anch'esse affrettate, sono decisamente gradevoli. E' un tipica BL coreana dove l'approccio e l'interazione tra i due protagonisti è al contempo delicato ma emozionante. In questo senso mi ha ricordato molto drama quali "Jun and Jun", piuttosto che "Cherry blossom after winter", "Our dating sim" o "Semantic error". Tutte serie con tanti elementi positivi comuni ma tutte piuttosto brevi - a memoria non vanno oltre gli 8 episodi, quantomeno non della durata breve come in questo caso - ed è un fattore che andrebbe davvero riconsiderato. Le BL coreane personalmente mi piacciono molto, ma meritano indubbiamente un investimento maggiore, altrimenti il risultato avrà sempre i soliti limiti legati alla durata e, di conseguenza, a un mancato approfondimento dei contenuti della vicenda e della credibilità della storia stessa.
Detto questo resta una visione che, pur veloce e difettosa, permette di apprezzare svariati momenti. A patto di affrontarla con piena consapevolezza dei limiti, non mi sento proprio di sconsigliarla.

HISTÓRIA BONITA, MAS FALTOU ALGUNS ELEMENTOS

Essa é uma história de amor que atravessou o tempo mesmo com uma maldição nela.

Quando eu dei play eu não esperava encontrar tudo que eu encontrei (mas foi tudo muito positivo, isso é um elogio), eu esperava uma comédia romântica bobinha e me deparei com uma história cheia de nuances.

O tempo apertado fez com que muita coisa não se desenvolvesse como deveria, mas dentro do possível fizeram um bom trabalho. Essa questão do tempo também poderia ter sido amparada se a introdução e créditos dos episódios não fossem tão extensos e assim não ocupassem tanto tempo.

O romance em si é bonito e a química estava ali (apesar da censura que é um ponto muito negativo), mas houveram muitas pontas soltas. Eu queria ter entendido melhor a linha do tempo, queria ter tido uma explicação mais ampla da maldição, entender melhor quem exatamente é o Dennis, a vida do Min Yu Dam, etc.

Essa é uma série que merece um remake com episódios de tempo padrão e mais bem trabalhados, porque conteúdo tem e é bem interessante.

the story has a lot of gaps, the characters don't make much sense and the ending is horrible if you consider that they are no longer cursed it's still sad to think that one has forgotten and the other will keep remembering.
(if you ask me still looks like a curse)
I still wonder why Denis exists since nothing about him makes sense, why does he hate the director? Why does he kill the guy in the past but fall in love with him in the future? so many unanswered questions.
In the end, if you are looking for a quality BL I would say that there are better options, this one is only for those who have already finished watching all the good BL that exist.
