A ten year secret crush finally sees the light of the day
A refreshing, non-melodramatic story with a unique perspective, a story of mutual unrequited love that seemingly ends a decade ago due to various coincidences. A new opportunity unexpectedly brings the two back together.Ruan Yu, the FL, used the unrequited love from ten years ago as the creative material for her new book. Before her new book's release it's embroiled in plagiarism accusations.
And for Xu Huaisong, the ML, 'a text RYXHXHS' sent by his sister changed everything! It turned out that the girl he had a crush on had also been secretly in love with him all along.
Even though he knows they have a mutual crush, he plays a little game to get closer, not reckless but with eyes full of affection. While helping her with the case, he brings their decade-long deep love and tenderness to life. It turns out that a mutual commitment, ten years overdue, was still incredibly exciting!
Wei Zheming's portrayal of Xu Huaisong paired with Zheng Hehuizi's Ruan Yu, is a perfect match, complementing each other beautifully. The emotional fluctuations between the two are frequent and intense.
Their sweet, back-and-forth interactions are always just right making it very comfortable and enjoyable to watch.
Supporting cast: I love the character Liu Mao! He's used as a scapegoat by Xu Huaisong all the time but he is absolutely loyal to Xu Huaisong. Their playful banter is hilarious. Xu Huaisong's sister and her classmate are a playful pair. Ruan Yu has a realistic best friend Shen Mingying. Cen Si Si is the trouble maker. Li Shi Can yet to appear (4 episodes in) The actors performances are all on point and the cinematography is great.
With such a super interesting plot and characters, amazing acting and cinematography I can't wait to watch how the ten year mutual crush finally sees the light of the day. If you are a fan of mutual crushes, sweet love stories and light hearted comedy, this one is for you.
Review after Episode 19
Still watching and enjoying the show. It's silly, funny, entertaining and relaxing overall.
Special mention to the bgm and sound effects for funny scenes. Afterall it elevates the already good comedic timing of the actors.
The overall narrative of the story shows promise. However, the pacing seems to have slowed down somewhere in the middle around episodes 14/15. Rather than advancing the plot, the story often repeats the same kind of events with fillers. I thought it would have been far more interesting and engaging for viewers if there was more focus on the side stories of Liu Mao/Shen Mingying and Xu Huashi/Zhao Yi.
The final 5-6 episodes let us see some great advancement in the leads romance storyline, professional success, resolved family conflicts, development to the side stories, bringing a structural, definitive and happy closure to the series. Absolutely enjoyable series.

A sweet drama told with patience, a rare gem!
With Miles Wei as elite lawyer Xu Huaisong and Zheng Hehuizi as the resilient novelist Ruan Yu, the drama successfully balances professional challenges with a slow-burn, nostalgic romance.Plot: After being accused of plagiarism, the very person she based the story on just showed up out of nowhere. But ahh the feeling of meeting the right person at the wrong time...
This story is not about falling in love - its about returning to it. The central conflict isn't just whether they love each other- it's whether the timing is finally right,
It's a romance built on timing not iust chemistry.
He is a classmate from the next class she'd never spoken to. She thought he had never even known her before. Ten years have passed. They've changed, grown, and built separate lives. That makes every interaction carry more weight, because this time the stakes feel real.
Time and opportunities were needed and had to be built up through their interactions after a long separation.
It wasn't the obsession of an 18 year old Ruan Yu for an 18 year old Xu Huaisong that she couldn't have. It was a 28 year old Ruan Yu, still falling for a 28 year old Xu Huaisong all over again. Her lingering feelings weren't about regret, but about wondering why a reunion after so long couldn't lead to a different outcome.
Alas! If only she knew that her secret crush wasn't one sided...
On the other hand, it didn’t bother Xu Huaisong that he had a one sided crush on her. What troubled him was that after all those years, suddenly when he looked back, someone told him that they could be together. Now! Yet, Xu Huaisong at 28, didn't dare to confess easily. He was afraid that if he confessed, it would be 'in the past' for Ruan Yu. Insecurity, fear, hesitation kept deliberating him whether he could win her over again if he made his move, and how he should even begin. So he schemes to get chances to be close to her.
We follow their journey while their "long simmering affection" matures into a stable relationship, and builds a future together.
Review Highlights:
Refreshing Lead Dynamic: Miles Wei delivers his signature "charismatic, reserved yet sweet" performance, perfectly. In addition, he is seen as scheming, petty and witty and has been rightfully nicknamed as a "sly fox" by many commenters here 💖. Zheng Hehuizi shines as a badass and relatable female lead who takes charge of her own career. Their chemistry is sweet and natural, avoiding over the top tropes or forced dramatic moments.
Engaging Plot: The "plagiarism" mystery provides a solid professional backdrop that keeps the stakes high while allowing the leads to reconnect through a shared cause. Another point of note is the mutual support between the leads as they face career trials together. Ruan Yu's career progression to a screenwriter and while Xu Huaisong is already established as a highly driven and hardworking IP lawyer he reaches a high point in his career and successfully clears his father's name. There seems to be just enough family dynamics, sibling interactions, friendships and supportive partnerships
Creative Storytelling: The story weaves together dual timelines of campus flashbacks and the present day work related reunions which I thought was novel. It features inventive visual choices such as video/voice call participants appearing physically next to the characters which adds a modern and humorous flair. There are internal monologues and telepathic conversations which make the narrative lighthearted.
Easy Watching: "Comfort food," low-stress, warm vibes that is both hilarious and endearing.
The supporting cast are doing a pretty good job. Of note, Li Jun Xian, as Lawyer Liu Mao was great adding some hilarious interactions with Lawyer Xu (Miles Wei). It was great to see the siblings from 'I May Love You" back as siblings. Zhang Mu Xi as Xu Huashi was charming and played an important role to get the leads together.
OST, cinematography, dialogues everything is so beautiful.
Overall a charming and lighthearted modern romance that serves as a "belated joy" not only for fans of the "childhood crush to lovers" trope but for anyone who loves a warm, endearing story.

A joy that came late
Reviewed after Episode 19A beautiful story of mutual unrequited high school crush which gets another opportunity a decade after
Its a slow burn romance
Requires patience and a calm mindset to appreciate all the details
There is a SML arc which some viewers may find annoying in the middle episodes (he doesn't even count as a proper obstacle) but he becomes a likeable character later on in the show
There are extra clips at the end of episodes (not all) which are missing pieces to the story. Don't miss them!
The story goes back to flashbacks every now and then which can disrupt the pace and momentum and cause confusion for some viewers
Entertaining and funny without much angst like melodrama, misunderstandings, break-ups
A very grand proposal and wedding for a deserving conclusion to the title and series
Main leads story:
This story is told in a realistic way.
Secret crush:
Firstly we understand why it remained a secret crush 10 years ago- because the fl thought it was one sided and although she made preparations (gift) to confess, as a last resort before they leave school, it failed as the ML didn't show up on that day when the final year students were going on a graduation trip.
The ML also thought it was one-sided, yet he too prepared a gift to confess to her on new years eve. In the meantime, due to his parents divorce, and as his sister didn't want to go to US he had to compromise and leave with his dad. At this point he made a decision not to confess.
The Gap years:
The FL becomes a successful writer
The ML becomes an accomplished lawyer settled in the US
During these years they have grown from adolescents into adults each shaped by their own experiences
Catalyst:
When fl runs out of inspiration, she goes back to her hometown where while rummaging through her old stuff she finds her personal diary with all the notes about the ML (teen stuff like she saw him on that day feeding the orange cat, another day playing the piano etc). She decides to write this into a novel hoping to give her unrequited love a happy ending. She makes up a version for the ml and includes some fantasies in that. The book gets published, becomes successful. Then she gets accused of plagiarism. This is a crucial part of the story. Around this same time, the ML's sister, while going through some old boxes in her house finds an old phone (her brothers). She discovers some unsent drafts and after reading gets excited that her bro actually had a crush on someone and decides to make it into a story and publish it. This happens before FL's story gets published. Then people compare the two and accuse the FL of plagiarism. Then another character (fl's career rival) comes into picture, and she provokes the ML sister to sue fl legally. Sister and her classmate sue fl but somehow end up in a soup which forces them to find out the identity of the author and through some twists and turns they find out that the author was actually her brother's secret crush. Because of the trouble she was in and because she also thought maybe this was a godsend opportunity for their unrequited crush, she reveals all this to the ML and that's how he ends up in China as her lawyer.
Initial phase:
Imagine meeting your secret crush after 10years and coming to know that they are going to assist your case. The book is about him and she has included some very personal thoughts and fantasies in it. Her first reaction is to not acknowledge him. Then he plays along. This goes on for a while. In every interaction they have they discover slowly that the other knows fully well they are from the same school. She still doesn't doubt whether he knows if the story is about him.
At episode 12, when the plagiarism case ends, she notices a 'change' in his demeanor to a more caring and gentle one especially when she gets sick.
She even thinks if he is "possessed"
Whenever he tried to reveal himself , she seemed to cover it up not wanting to do it.
So the crux of the story is that they first need to reveal and accept that they are from the same school, which in turn would mean he knows that her story is about him. This happens around episode 14/15 finally. Once she discovers that, she feels exposed and embarrassed. All this while he had known her innermost thoughts and secrets about him yet played. She feels disturbed, embarrassed, and in a situation where she feels she can't face him anymore. She goes away on a holiday.
The Re-discovery:
A phase where the tension comes from the friction between who they were and who they are now. Their interactions as lawyer and client help put each other on a pedestal. They learned about each other. They need to know more. Another opportunity for the ML to go to the same town on work is 'created'. The adult romance starts when they realize the other person is flawed and human, not just the "golden" version from their memories.
This is the part of the story which drags with the SML arc and some other fillers.
Confession:
Hopefully this will happen when she finally comes to know that their secret crush was mutual, with a happy ending.
Why is it taking so long for them to confess?
So how realistic will it be if he suddenly arrives back in China and reveals/explains everything. Will she fall for him then? How can she even trust him? Besides, it is shown that ML is not very good with expressing his feelings and hence outwardly he is seen as cold and aloof. Why would she even accept him when she could see through his schemes? How long does it take for someone to "know" the other?
It is not about a single 'confession' or an 'apology' or an 'explanation' that will sort out the issues between them. It has to go through a process and hence the time.
Side stories-
ML's colleague and friend and his interactions with ML and FL's bestie are some of the brightest moments in the show
SML's track- serves as a competitor for the ML. At episode 19 we understand that he doesn't plan to confess anymore as he finds the FL accidentally fall and caught by the ML while watching fireworks 😀
Now I have to mention here that the sml arc took a U turn when it was explained that he faced his own challenges in career too alongside his personal life. But Lawyer Xu helps him restore his reputation when he is scandalized and he actually is now a friend and a guy to depend on for the main couple.
ML's sister and her classmate are an adorable fun pair to watch
Family dynamics-Ruan family were a pleasure to watch. That's exactly how parents support their children. On the other hand, Xu family have it tough. Not because one is wrong, but because it is one's principles vs one's choice. The family reunion did come after a decade. A bit too late for Xu dad but atleast it came.
The elaborate proposal scene and the grand wedding gave a befitting end to our leads love story.
Cast/acting -10
Visuals -Stunning10
BGM/OST - excellent 10

Went from a Slowburn to a Turtle Race?
First Impression from Ep 1 - 21 .Ep 1 - 6 were so good, I literally couldn't stop. I was kicking my feet!! I love Miles Wei so bad, I love him as a green flag & I was excited that this is the first GREAT pure romance of 2026. I had been in POJ haze with it ending this week and this is exactly what I had been missing from my drama palate!!! I was cracking up and covering my face from second hand embarrassment all through these first episodes.
Ep 7 - 10 I remained invested but I am I craving some progress, even if it is small.
Ep 10 - 13 we had some flirting that resulted in NO PROGRESS.
Ep 14 By now I am more invested in the best friend's story than our leading couple, and I am bored with our leads.
Ep 15 -21 I am so tired of the second main lead getting all this screen time, especially when his feelings are clearly one sided and he feels more like a nuisance than an obstacle. It is just delaying the progress of our leads who are doing a good enough job on their own at turning a slow burn into a turtle race. I am disappointed, at this rate this drama definitely should have been 24 eps vs 30. Because they wouldn't be butchering the pacing this much if they had less time to drag this out. I am at a point that I am ready to put it down so I can watch the ending later because I don't have the patience for this pacing.
EP 22: PROGRESS FINALLY but of course it is the babiest of baby steps. At least by the end of ep 22 we are on the heels of a reveal for his sister writing the other story - I presume.

A lighthearted, warm and sweet drama
The overall feel is very positive. The setting is warm and natural, the acting is natural, and the characters are wonderfully designed. Especially Miles delivers a stellar performance, both in terms of acting and looks. His little expressions and subtle gestures are lively and natural and the stark contrast in his character comes across as completely seamless. Zheng He Huizi is pretty and expressive. Their chemistry is amazing! Many details of the plot are handled very realistically. The supporting cast is also great; and their acting is very natural. The plot also has some lighthearted humor. The series is both visually appealing and hilarious overall. Pacing is good. The novel is well written and most of the script has followed it which is a big plus!Final review: Engaging story, stunning visuals and great acting. The dual timeline concept successfully created and executed.

the drama is about ?&?
it starts with fl having a crush on ml not knowing it was mutual but the circumstances were not in the favour then.cut to the present she writing a novel based on her own then feelings and things start to go down. ml got involved and helped her out. and then they come face to face to their feelings and the misunderstandings are cleared. fluffy and kinda 2016 vibes.
what actually made me watch it is how they face themselves and their lives. it's indeed fateful how the story unfolded. how just some words from someone can give one enough strength to face whatever the battle he/she is fighting. one person can be completely wrong about someone, even if they think they know it all about the person. then accepting the fact of them being wrong and their resolve to start anew and get to know each other again.
one can be 'acting' out of the character to get noticed by that particular person, but when the persona breaks, will the certain someone still accept you as you really are? will you be fine after your persona is scattered, in front of the very person you made it for?
people say this drama is as the other rom-fluff stuff but do you really watch it? the character's insecurities, their growth and their whole arc ? how the certain circumstances affect them and their decisions?
for me the drama is kinda journey from running away from their fears or insecurities to finally facing them in whatever form they can. overcoming the hesitation, that unspoken understanding and the healing.
of course the drama has scenes make you giggle or curl your toes, but it also has the element of showing what it feels like to return to love. this is not the intense drama but a comfort watch with a hot tea in hands while sitting in a blanket.

One of the best slow burn love drama ✨✨?
This drama is an absolute breath of fresh air and has officially secured a spot as one of my favorite modern C-dramas, right alongside Love Between the Lines. From the very first episode, the production value is striking; every location, from the female lead’s charming house to the cozy, aesthetic cafes, feels intentionally curated and visually stunning. The cinematography captures a dreamlike quality that makes the setting feel like a character of its own.The casting is equally brilliant. The female lead is breathtaking—I genuinely gasped at her visuals when she first appeared on screen—and her wardrobe is a fashion lover's dream, filled with elegant and trendy pieces. Beyond her looks, her chemistry with the male lead is top-tier. Speaking of the ML, he is the ultimate "green flag" character; his acting is nuanced and layered, portraying a supportive partner who communicates rather than creates drama. One of the most refreshing aspects of this series is the lack of toxic tropes; there are no exhausting, long-winded arguments or petty misunderstandings that drag on for episodes.
The supporting cast adds so much heart and humor to the story. The friendship between the ML and the second male lead provides some of the funniest moments in the show, while the second female lead is a standout for her bravery, strength, and unwavering loyalty to her friend(FL). Even the secondary high school couple is incredibly endearing, adding a sweet "puppy love" layer to the plot. Finally, the OST is the perfect finishing touch—it’s nostalgic, emotive, and carries a similar magic to the music in Love Between the Lines. If you’re looking for a "perfect" watch that balances beauty, maturity, and heartwarming romance, this is it. Totally recommend 💕💕💕

A late-blooming joy is still a joy
This story is about unrequited high school mutual crush which is getting an unique opportunity to explore a bond that was previously untapped. It requires balancing the nostalgia of the past with the reality of the present. It is but natural and sensible to gradually reacquaint with each other with active boundary setting. They gauge each other safely and are slowly rebuild their relationship through shared experiences and head towards having more stability in their relationship through honest and open communication. The crux of the story is when the FL comes to know that it had always been a two way crush. The focus of the story is not about quick love, confession and dealing with other things like career, friendships, family dynamics. They happen along the way.
Their shared journey IS the focus of the story.
As written in synopsis " The feelings that had accumulated over the years fermented under the memories and became stronger in the test of reality"
Pros:
Acting- All round good- I love Miles Wei acting. He always delivers. This is no exception. We get to see great comedy between him and lawyer Liu which I thoroughly enjoyed and many signature Miles expressions, geatures and moves which were a thorough entertainer
Dialogues
Cinematography
Comedy
Cons:
The second male lead plot dragged
Editing pace could have been faster
In my opinion this show could have been completed in 24-26 episodes.
Final review: The ending is beautiful and gives a perfect closure to the series and all characters.
It's even more satisfying to see that every women in this drama is empowered in her own way.
1) Ruan Yu, progresses from a successful author to a screenwriter. Of course her secret crush and love story is a success.
2)The female editor-in-chief, Chen, gets promoted to headquarters and even recommends 👇
3) Shen Mingying - who always challenged her - to take over as the new editor-in-chief. Shen Mingying gets her true love too.
4) The girl who's crushing on Li Shican realizes her mistakes and decides to move forward.
5) Lyu Shenglan, who waited for years for Xu Huaisong, who was even prepared for a marriage of convenience, steps back at the right moment as if realizing they were not meant to be and focused on her career and achieved greater heights.
6) Even the younger sister, Xu Huaishi, who was still playful, into celebrity fan culture back in high school, gets into a top university. Hopefully she will get her true love too.
7) Tao Rong, Xu Huaisong’s mom, also reunites with her husband and makes peace with herself and the past.
8) Sun Miaohan, who didn't compromise on her self-respect and dignity, successfully auditioned for the role of female lead in Ruan Yu’s book adaptation
RIP Yao Xin
Perfect closure to the series.

A Charming, Low-Stress Watch
A classic "long-term, secret, mutual crush" story that provides comfort and nostalgiaPlot and Premise:
The story follows Ruan Yu (Zheng He Hui Zi), who leaves her stable job to become a full-time author. When her novel is accused of plagiarism she crosses paths with her high school crush, Xu Huaisong (Miles Wei Zheming), who is now a brilliant intellectual property lawyer. The drama follows them as they defend her work, reconnect, and navigate their long-buried feelings.
What's Great:
• The Chemistry: Miles Wei and Zheng He Hui Zi's chemistry is naturally attractive with sweet interactions.
• The Vibe: It has an "old CDrama" feel; easy to watch. Comfortable, and not overly angsty.
• Light-Hearted Comedy: It is genuinely funny, particularly in the banter between the leads and the supporting cast.
• Main Couple Dynamic: Both leads are appealing, and the "slow burn" approach allows their relationship to feel earned.
• Cinematography: High quality production with a visual style that highlights a sweet, romantic, and "fairy-tale-like" ambience. The camera frequently employs close-ups to capture their emotional expressions during moments of vulnerability and romantic tension. Care and attention have been paid to framing and lighting.
• Music: A variety of romantic and emotional tracks performed by popular artists to emphasize the developing bond between the leads. The background music in the drama often utilizes instrumental versions of the main themes to highlight specific moods. The sound effects for humorous scenes have been fantastic.
What Could Be Better
• Pacing: Is slow, particularly around the middle, often relying on fillers rather than advancing the plot.
• Plot Familiarity: The story is somewhat predictable, relying on familiar tropes rather than introducing high-stakes originality.
Overall Experience:
"You Are My Fateful Love" is a solid 8.5-9/10 for lovers of romance. While it may not break new ground, it succeeds in providing a heartwarming "slow-burn" love story. It's perfect for a weekend binge if you don't mind a slower, character-driven story over high-octane plot developments.
Recommended for those seeking a cozy, low-melodrama watch, but perhaps not for those seeking tight plot progression or intense conflict.

A sweet love story
This was so good and as someone who already read the whole novel i can say that they really did well in keeping up with novel. Last 5-6 episodes were the best and last 2 episode are a treat for viewers. While they had to cut back lot of scenes from novel but they also adjusted some of the novel parts too well within those 30 episodes. Except the mid episodes from 15-18 all the episodes are really good.Yes while is slow paced, the novel itself is slow paced but after leads gets into relationship their is no turning back, no misunderstanding, no third wheel. so yeah last episodes are the best. Even SML doesn't feel like an annoyed character after ep 20 onwards. Best part is that they even adapted the chapters that were part of extra chapters in novel which is great.
Miles Wei as usual was awesome in acting as a fox ML🤣
Zheng He Hui Zi portrayal of Ruan Yu was also good and i cant find flaw in her acting. She acting really well.
Li Jun Xian as Liu Mao was the best crime-in partner for ML and the biggest supporter too for his love story. His acting from the start was fab 👍
Li Ge Yang as Li Shi Can also did great despite i feel quite annoyed by his character in mid episodes. But by last episodes i also felt that his character was good and he portray it quiet well. I so wanted to see him getting moved on from his unrequited love🤭.
Btw during wedding ceremony i missed the appearance of Zhou Jun, the lady lawyer and the ML co-worker/assistant. They were there in the story from start so i missed them being not part of their pre-wedding quiz & wedding time.
Anyone who want to watch will quiet enjoy it except if you have to skip then can skip those 15-20 episodes as skipping those won't make any difference to story plot.
Overall, i really enjoyed this as a cute, fluffy rom-com even though they skip some of parts of novel but still managed to cover up all characters arc. A solid 9.0 from side 🥳

Destiny brought them together, love made them stay
This series is a visually stunning show with a thought provoking theme.I liked the way the story was narrated with flashbacks. The slow-burn romance unfolded realistically and beautifully. It made their confession worth waiting for!
The major point here is that Xu Huaisong was playing all along from school times, knowing that she too had a crush on him, to get her attention and he did succeed. On the other hand Ruan Yu was admiring him ( the person he was putting up to be) from a distance totally unaware that he too liked her.
If only it was as easy as 'Hi, I know you from school times and had a crush on you and wrote a book about it. Let's try it out!"
Or "Hi, I came back because I realised you are in trouble because of our story. Nice to meet you. Let's go!"
How one deals with the "re-appearance" of a secret crush is going to be very different with no one size fits all option
One is still lingering on the crush but can't reveal and can't afford to get hurt. The other, hesitates to show himself, being always in the weaker position in the relationship.
This is one of those shows requiring patience and a calm mindset to appreciate its nuances.
It's also quite humorous .
Visually captivating.
All around good acting.
Music is very soothing especially the 'After the rain 'song played by the male protagonist on the piano
Background sound effects were apt!
9/10

Perfection
You Are My Fateful Love is a heartfelt romantic drama that explores how unexpected circumstances can bring two completely different people together. What begins as a relationship built on coincidence and obligation gradually transforms into something genuine and deeply emotional. The story does a good job of showing how love doesn’t always start perfectly, but can grow through patience, understanding, and shared experiences. One of the strongest aspects of the drama is its character development. The female lead starts off as someone underestimated and overlooked, but over time she gains confidence and strength. Watching her growth feels rewarding and realistic. The male lead, on the other hand, begins as distant and emotionally guarded, but slowly becomes more open and caring. Their journey together feels natural, even with the misunderstandings and conflicts that arise along the way.
The drama also balances humor and emotion effectively. There are many lighthearted moments that make the story enjoyable, but it doesn’t shy away from serious themes like heartbreak, responsibility, and personal growth. This mix keeps the story engaging and relatable.
However, at times, the pacing can feel slightly slow, especially in the middle episodes where misunderstandings are repeated. Some plot developments may also feel predictable, especially for viewers familiar with similar romance tropes. Despite this, the emotional payoff towards the end makes it worth watching.
Overall, You Are My Fateful Love is a touching drama that highlights the idea that love can come from the most unexpected situations. It’s a story about growth, forgiveness, and the power of fate, making it a satisfying watch for fans of romantic dramas.
