Cute show but a bit draggy
Honestly the show started off really strong, I was really invested in their story but as the show progresses, it just gets more boring. I really love slow burn romance but I feel this is way too slow even though they wrapped up the ending really nicely and it’s really cute, I even love the second lead’s story but I feel the middle part was really unnecessary especially when they went to the villageWas this review helpful to you?
Wasted potential that deserved better, but cute!
It had all the elements to be something truly beautiful, but it feels like MangoTV didn’t let it reach its full potential. The story and the emotional base are there, and you can clearly see what it could have been, especially in the softer, more meaningful moments, but something always holds it back from fully landing. The pacing and execution make it feel a bit restrained, like it never dares to go deeper when it should. I still enjoyed it overall, and the chemistry kept me watching, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how much more it could have been. I also wish we had seen more of the other two couples, because they added something interesting but weren’t explored enough.
I’ll definitely be waiting to see Wei Zheming in another drama, because he deserved a stronger project.

THE BEST SECRET CRUSH DRAMA EVER!
I'm impressed with this one.*Astory that is too good to be true...but somehow I believe it could be true.*
Soft, fluffy romance drama.
Does seem a bit cliche but yet manages to surprise you. And I think I loved that the most.
The cinematography of this drama was just too beautiful. The angles were on point.
The whole things is just tooo cute and magical.
I love the detailing they put into some of the scenes in the drama and the little ideas of their school days which made it more special.
I MUST MENTION, the dialogues were so deep and meaningful in the drama that I started taking notes of them.
Also, the story is not just about the main couple. There's side couples also.
Like some of the other dramas, you would just want to know about main couple and the side couples feel like filler or it can sometimes be likewise.
BUTTT...BUTTT.....YOU ARE MY FATEFUL LOVE is just different and it stands to it's title.
Every other story in the drama keeps you hooked and makes you fall in love with them.
The set, I mean the house in which Ruan Yu live and the one Xu Huaisong lived were top notch and almost dreamy especially Ruan Yu's.
And last secondly, ost.
Especially the one sung by Baby J is my favorite ( i'm Baby J's big fan)
Lastly, the ending was sweet.
A Happy ending.
I liked it anyway but much more because Xu Huaisong and Ruan Yu just recreated their journey and I believe that was very thoughtful and creative of the director.
Cheers to the lovestories of,
Xu Huaisong X Ruan Yu
Liu Mao X Shen Mingying
Xu Huaishi X Zhao Yi
(Additionally, a heads up, some episodes maybe in the middle.. like around 15 ish can be boring. But i
I'd say you'll enjoy it in the later parts.)
A solid 9/10.

Visually Stunning, Emotionally Flat: Miles Deserved Better
The drama starts with a premise that has genuine potential, but the writing never quite understands what makes a romance compelling. The biggest problem isn’t even the lack of chemistry between the leads—it’s the romantic dialogue itself. After more than 20 episodes of buildup, the first kiss comes with the immortal line, “Want to feed you some pork?” That moment pretty much sums up the writers’ grasp of romance. To Miles’ credit, he does everything he can to sell the relationship, bringing warmth, longing, and genuine romantic energy to his scenes even though as per script, he isn't supposed to confess his love earlier on. Unfortunately, the chemistry is so one-sided that it often feels like he’s flirting with a decorative pole that happens to have an excellent skincare routine. The female lead is pretty, but her expression toward the ML rarely differs from the one she gives her parents, friends, coworkers, the ML’s cat, or the office furniture.
FL’s characterization doesn’t help either. She initially denies knowing the ML, yet later becomes upset when he doesn’t acknowledge their past connection. The double standard made her character feel frustratingly shallow.
Ironically, nearly every side couple generated more sparks than the main pairing. The second lawyer and the FL’s best friend were delightful together, while the sister and her love interest were equally charming. Much of the supporting cast brought more warmth and personality than the central romance.
Where the drama truly shines is in its production quality. The cinematography is beautiful, the costumes are well chosen, and the soft color palette creates an elegant, calming atmosphere throughout.
With stronger writing, better romantic dialogue, and a tighter 16-episode run, this could have been a memorable romance. Instead, it’s a visually beautiful drama carried largely by its supporting cast and one very hardworking Male lead.

The romance part is fine
What can I say? The romance story is fine. Miles always delivers. The female lead is lovely. The secondary leads are great. However the writers tried to be too clever and the plots in the last 1/3 of the dramas were jarring.
The ratings were pushed higher because it does have some of the best kissing I've seen from Miles W.
I would recommend this just for both the leads besties chemistry with them.
Rewatch? No. There are no memorable scenes. However its great as a marathon drama. How or when did the romance starts? Well lets say it hasn't in ep 15.

Very enjoyable light rom-com
This show is exactly what it's supposed to be: A very enjoyable romantic story with some light fun comedy. Most of the 'drama' is lightweight and resolved fairly quickly. The only things that are dragged out are the initial plot premise deceptions between the ML & FL - that's dragged out past it's usefulness but at least when the big reveals happen the show doesn't endlessly drag out the subsequent resolution of the trauma that results. So while this is a very, very slow developing romance - slight spoiler: the first kiss doesn't happen until well past the halfway mark of the show - otherwise the show moves at a fairly brisk pace. Things do happen in each episode and until the final couple of episode long time-wasting montage scenes are minimized. The two leads , Zheng He Hui Zi and Miles Wei, have very good chemistry and look great together. Both carried their roles beautifully and somehow managed to sell the idea that two characters could act like stalkers of each other and it not be creepy - indeed it's cute and romantic!. And the second couple is just fantastic. I really would love to see Chen Hao Lan and Li Jun Xian get lead roles - together or separately - because both actors feel like they can carry a lead role. I especially was impressed with Chen Hao Lan. She plays a very dynamic role as the FL's bestie with her own dramatic story arc of ups & downs. And Li Jun Xian is simultaneously handsome and charming and yet a total goofball when necessary, in hilarious fashion.
The production values of this show are solid, with lots of great wardrobe, settings artwork and really nice soundtrack. A few prop quibbles and oversights but nothing worth crying about.
My only real complaint is just my common complaint I have about how for some reason c-drama writers so often feel obligated to include some sort of 'love triangle', which in this show is in the form of the annoyingly pathetic Li Shi Can character. He plays the part of the stereotypical 'unrequited love interest' who pines pathetically for the FL, but is doomed to be forever friend-zoned. His character was just so pathetic and selfish and boring to watch. Just a pointless waste of screen time and take my advice and just skip rapidly through any scenes with him in it - even some that include the leads. You really won't be missing anything good in this show by skipping his scenes. The writers could easily have left him out completely.

A Sweet and Emotional Romance That Had Charm but Felt Predictable at Times
You Are My Fateful Love is a light and enjoyable romance drama that delivers plenty of emotional moments, cute chemistry, and comforting vibes. While it may not be groundbreaking, it still manages to keep viewers invested with its heartfelt relationships and lovable characters. The strongest part of the drama is definitely the chemistry between the main leads. Their interactions feel natural, warm, and emotionally convincing, especially during the softer romantic moments. The drama does a good job of creating emotional attachment to the couple, which makes many scenes enjoyable to watch.
Visually, the drama looks beautiful. The cinematography, outfits, and soundtrack all match the romantic atmosphere very well. Some emotional scenes are genuinely touching, and the music helps elevate those moments nicely.
However, the story itself feels quite familiar and predictable. Many plot developments follow typical romance drama formulas, so there were very few surprising moments. A few episodes in the middle also felt slower than necessary, and some side characters could have been written better with more depth.
The acting overall is solid, though not unforgettable. The leads carry the drama well, but certain emotional scenes lacked stronger impact compared to top-tier romance dramas. Still, the series remains entertaining and easy to binge because of its comforting tone and romantic focus.
Even with its flaws, You Are My Fateful Love succeeds as a relaxing and emotional romance watch. It may not leave a huge lasting impact, but it’s still enjoyable for fans who like sweet love stories with emotional moments and good chemistry.
Overall, I’d give it a solid 7/10 for its romance, visuals, chemistry, and enjoyable atmosphere, even though the story feels somewhat predictable.

Silent secret crush
The main and second leads had really cute moments and had an overall good story together. But, the middle dragged on far too long. It really could've been a 26 or less episode series. I started to lose interest near the back half. Pacing is very slow and story was quite predictable. They did a good job wrapping up all the loose ends, which I really liked. Also, bonus points for getting Zhang Yuan to sing! The music was great throughout. Overall a solid watch if you are looking for something easy, not very stimulating, and fan of the young love that matures. Was this review helpful to you?

They dragged the misunderstanding part for too long
I watched this drama because i just want to watch modern Drama and actually the premises was not something innovative (secret love and mutual pining). but i interested with plagiarism plot. Miles Wei not playing CEO persona (well-he is lawyer but his typecast was unfortunate). The thing that i hate for this drama is Mango TV mess subtitle. Zheng He Hui Zi was okay as Ruan Yu but actually there is nothing make me remember anything about her character. I love slow burn romance but this drama was dragged for too long and it feels like i am watching usual duanju about secret love (misunderstand after misunderstand) and i lost drama sparks after they got together on episode 23. I don't buy about second pair story, their story was too boring and i ended up fast forwarding their part. For the chemistry between Miles Wei and Zheng He Hui Zi, i still enjoy their banter and personally both of them didn't suit the school uniform costume and they didn't give any change for hairstyle since they are obviously look mature.
Did i enjoy it? i still enjoy this drama and it could be my light drama list.

enjoyed watching main leads! the rest is boring
Sometimes I feel like watching something light and sweet. Ofc a 30-episode drama can't be perfect. Although we've been waiting for the characters to reunite their love for a long time, I really enjoyed their love story. They look incredibly beautiful together and the last two episodes were absolutely stunning! I was completely delighted with both the beginning of their love and its continuation. Their visuals and chemistry were the reasons why I continued watching the drama. On the downside, there were abrupt shifts in the plot from one event to another, followed by a focus on the second event. This happened from episode 14 to 20, where the interactions between the main characters were minimized or put on hold for an extended period. This was disappointing, because all those side stories seemed dull.
When watching this drama, there's no need to overthink the events. It's like a fairy tale about a princess and her prince. Although the female lead had difficulty understanding certain things, we all know that it was done to stretch the plot. In certain situations, her lack of understanding even seemed amusing. So, just relax and enjoy the chemistry between Wei Zhe Min and Zheng He Hui Zi!

12 year love story that could’ve been.
Rating: 8.4/10**This review gives specific details of scenes that may be considered spoilers, **
Overview:
You Are My Fateful Love started out really strong, and I couldn't stop watching. But after a while, it started to get a bit boring. The best parts are definitely when the main couple finally gets together because their chemistry is so good, mainly Miles Wei doing.
Plot:
The show is way too long. It could have been 10 episodes shorter if they cut out the boring lawyer scenes and the "dark" stories that didn't make sense. For example, the class monitor kidnapping the dad was just unnecessary. Just to prove Huai Song can be a criminal lawyer and that the girlfriend boss was a creep? IDK .If we didn’t include such unnecessary scenes and lawyer moments no one really cared about.. Other unnecessary scenes? The Li Shi Can friend who was in love with him and was crazy and had to go to a mental hospital.
Also, the trip to the small town for New Year's lasted about 8 episodes, which was way too slow. There was a lot of talking that didn't really matter. It was kinda boring and had unnecessary dialogue, scenes and moments that was just like ok?? The rivalry of Xu Huai Song and Li Shi Can was cute and funny.
I also found it hard to believe how fast the Ruan Yu movie was made in about a year with no time jumps, which felt way too quick!Like I know she was famous online and had a following it . If I am following correctly they mentioned from meeting again to when she finds out he was in love with her in high school that was only 6 months . So from whole show was roughly one year, since there was no significant time jumps. So her movie being already filmed was so quick, I was kinda shocked. I also think I’d rather preferred when they spent New Years Together in the small town, if he held her hand then and said “it wasn’t an accident” or something .
Characters
The Male Lead (Miles Wei):He is great at the romantic "tension" scenes. You can really tell he likes her! The "pork scene" and “Chapter 23” was so funny. However, his character is a little creepy. He knows her from high school which was cute and made it a long 12 year longed for love. BUT when you get more details about the story , you see how much he fabricated. Like yes she purposely made moments to like him but it was all behind the scenes and her one liking. He manipulated things behind the scenes to make her fall for him (like the cat situation). He needs to relax, like when he wouldn't just eat the Coke and chicken! Though that was cute too, it shows how much in his head he was.
The Female Lead (He Hui Zi): Her acting is okay, but her forced laugh is annoying. It was also kind of silly that her character pretended not to know him at first. I did like that the couple didn't have too many annoying misunderstandings, though.
Second Couples
Liu Mao and Ming Ying: They were very cute and lighthearted. Even though the girl is a bit distant at first, it makes sense because her ex-boyfriend was a cheater.
The High School Couple:Huai Song sister and her crush, They were so sweet and innocent. I would actually watch a whole spinoff show just about them!
The Movie Actress and Li Shi Can:I think they would also be a cute couple for a spinoff show.
One thing I loved about all the friends is how mature they are. If they think someone is dating, they just ask "What's going on?" instead of acting confused for ten episodes.
Final Thoughts
The show is good when the romance is happening, but it has too many "extra" scenes that don't need to be there. The story comes off a bit creepy but I enjoyed how comfortable they are and how naturalt it was. If the show was shorter and kept momentum I prob would have rated it higher.
Rating
8.4 / 10
(Great romance and fun side characters, but too much boring filler.)
