The Series of the Year — A must watch
Congratulations to ZeePruk and NuNew for delivering a stunning performance in Episode 1 of The Next Prince. Their portrayal of complex emotions, duty, desire, and personal conflict was handled with such nuance. Every glance, pause, and line between them felt intentional and heartfelt. Their chemistry continues to evolve, offering depth that goes beyond the script. Whether in moments of tension or tenderness, they make their characters believable and compelling. This kind of dynamic is rare and a testament to their mutual trust as actors. Bravo for outstanding performancesWas this review helpful to you?

3 years in the making and the wait is well worth it.ZeeNuNew's acting and chemistry is top notch! And the cinematography!!!! Well done to the team!!! I was amazed by the action sequences, hollywood level! and after watching the 1st episode, i can definitely say NuNew has improved so much, i am so proud!!! i cannot wait to watch the next episode.
It is based on a book but the team did mention they didn't adapt the story 100% so i wonder which changes are we gonna see.
If you have seen cutie pie and have seen ZeeNuNew's chemistry, well i think that's just the tip of the iceberg a d they are about to surprise us again in this new series.

THIS IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE AND AMAZING BL I'VE EVER WATCH
The Next Prince is hands down one of the most beautifully produced BL dramas I’ve ever seen. From the very beginning, you can tell this isn’t just your average BL series. The visuals are absolutely stunning—every camera angle feels intentional, polished, and cinematic. I wouldn't be surprised if they used some seriously high-end equipment because the picture quality and framing are just that good.Zee and NuNew completely outdid themselves. Their acting has grown so much—it’s natural, expressive, and full of emotion. They carry their roles with a quiet confidence that draws you into their world. And the chemistry? It’s effortless, sincere, and deeply moving.
One thing that really stood out to me is the set and location choices. They're fresh, unique, and unlike anything I’ve seen in other dramas. It adds a layer of authenticity to the royal setting that makes everything feel grand yet intimate at the same time.
Let’s not forget the soundtrack—it’s magical. The score elevates every scene, blending perfectly with the stunning cinematography. The editing is tight and professional; every moment flows naturally with no awkward pauses or dragging scenes.
If you're a fan of royal stories, historical vibes, or BL with high production value, this is the drama for you. Mark my words: The Next Prince is award-winning material. And if there's a category for Best Costume Design? It's already in the bag. A total gem—don’t miss it.

Episode 1 Review Kudos
The premise is an old one but a great one in terms of romance tropes (is this story adapted from a novel?). Everything looks beautiful - aesthetics are this studios’ strong point, but although I would’ve loved to see a stronger script it was only obvious in very few scenes; the scenes that were the most important were very well executed by the whole team.Where the protagonist discovers his real roots and that the man who raised him is not indeed not his father, were done really well and I cried every time including the parts that made me smile. They did a very good job stimulating our emotions without reducing them via the usually base, hackneyed methods. This is ideal for any BL opening episode to successfully convince the audience to want to know more about the characters’ stories and not simply to support their faves appearing on-screen.
I also like that we have a confident and competent Uke, I celebrate the absence of an abusive-for-no-reason Seme and that the old dynamic between this CP has been turned around. Incidentally this is the reason people are bored with most CPs in Thai BL: because stale Directors are not giving popular actors good scripts, not because they’re tired of seeing the actors together.
I love that the “father” is acting in the character role traditionally given to a mother figure, and that his fathering is characterised primarily by the most important component of love, which is Care. The father does not impose traditional ideas about gender roles or masculinity on the son, which is the only way you can truly love and raise a child with a healthy, non-distorted, self conception - of any sex or sexuality.
For episode 1 I say Bravo to the entire team!

⚠️ Warning: Fans might not like this. What follows is a critical assessment of the first episode of The Next Prince. If you're a die-hard fan or expecting praise, consider this your fair notice.
Read on at your own risk.
*Episode 1*
1. It isn't a good idea to start a big series with montages of this type.
2. This really doesn’t help the audience immerse themselves in the story, right? Throwing a bunch of scenes without actually emotionally connecting people to it—no matter if what you're showing makes sense or not—doesn't work.
3. Just throw in faces of overly hormonal girls who are gonna end up with whom, before they realise they are not connected to character A in the first place. Mix gently, do not tilt, or spiders are gonna fall off of it.
4. Action scenes… that are pointless, where the most action comes from the cameraman (kudos to the cameraman, though) and the editor. Not even gonna refer to the boring modern fencing stuff. From a dramatic perspective, it is done badly.
5. Well, for such a long wait and for such an expensive drama, why not mention they did a poor job cutting the filler takes on the compass? The same goes for tension/mystery—they really tried hard, but you can learn to do that correctly only if not every answer you have for everything is a comic relief… (this one is a stab at all Thai series, not only The Next Prince.)
6. Overdramatize. Just close your eyes and stretch it as much as possible. Because that is a solution. Poor audience waiting for years for such a result. The first episode is a failure—maybe because of the obviously big production. Nothing about it is done smartly to make you want to continue watching, sadly. It is still as bland as Mandee Channel gets with their latest projects. So Cutie Pie still stands as their best series of all they’ve made.
7. A bunch of tropes thrown into the same spot—unfortunately in this case all in episode one, in the first half—will not make your series good. On the contrary. (Don’t get me wrong, by the way—without a doubt, there are gonna be many fans who will make sure this series doesn't drown. Unfortunately for all the parties involved—the company, the fans, and the series with these actors.)
8. Doing promo in such an obvious way for the food you sell elsewhere in the first episode is also not the brightest idea. Why not invite Engfa to chew it for you there? Would drag more people to watch it anyway.
9. I can’t say I am impressed with you using the training stick to get your actors to even get close for the first kiss on screen in this series either. I always feel bad seeing it in series. I wonder why you used it here, if it is such a big project.
10. You do not know how to work with a pause. Learn it—then you don’t have to overuse filler (and crap).
11. Even if I omit everything I said—which I won’t—for a first episode it is incredibly stuffed. Too stuffed for it to ever shine.
12. Oh, and in the next lifetime, can you please stop blurring the paintings and backgrounds and be more mindful about angles? You’ve learned how to move the camera—bravo—but don’t make goblins out of humans, thank you.
If it is done for 14-year-old girls, it can still hold some power, I guess. At least for some of them. If we compare it with other Thai BL series, it ranks somewhere around the worse end of the middle in quality.
I sincerely hope I will be able to give praise from now on, but as I doubt it, I guess there are only going to be a few points here and there this story can collect in the 4? months to follow. And as I have it on good authority, even the original work is bad… Well, that’s that. Still, pity the wait.

A compelling love story
Watching The Next Prince felt like stepping into a story I’ve always wanted to see come to life. As someone who adores the “damsel in distress” trope—but with a twist—this BL series gave me everything I hoped for and more. It’s not just a romance; it’s a beautifully woven tale of identity, duty, and love that defies boundaries.NuNew Chawarin as Prince Khanin is absolutely captivating. His journey from an ordinary life in London to discovering his royal lineage in the fictional kingdom of Emmaly was both touching and empowering. And then there’s Zee Pruk Panich as Charan, the loyal and emotionally complex bodyguard whose quiet strength is impossible to ignore. Their chemistry is magnetic—every glance and moment between them brims with unspoken longing.
What made this series truly special for me is how it embraced the fantasy of royal life while grounding it in real emotions. The fencing scenes, the stunning palace visuals, and the layered court politics created a rich backdrop for a love story that felt genuine and earned. I was swept away by the tension, the softness, and the slow burn that led to something deeply affirming.
The Next Prince didn’t just entertain me—it made me feel seen. It gave me a love story where protection turned into partnership, and where the heart of a prince belonged not to tradition, but to the one who truly understood him.

High end production
It’s been a while since I’ve watched such a high production in a series. I’m in awe. The production, the original score, the OST, the adapted script from the novel to the series, the costumes, the acting, all the high end actors selected to complete the amazing cast… everything is on point. Very high quality, you can see how much effort, investment and love they have put into this series. And I hope it continues like this until the very end.Was this review helpful to you?
