Good idea for a drama but chaotic execution in terms of plot
Coming straight to the point, I won't write too much because a lot has been written in other people's reviews, so well, the series promised to be really interesting, the theme of parallel worlds was intriguing and the first 2-3 episodes were good, but with time the theme of parallel worlds practically stopped being developed, it was as if it became a background theme. Romance, the problems of Cyr's family and Cyr himself, as well as the multiverse were mixed together, and as a result, from a promising drama, BNW became a series with an incoherent and confusing plot, in which one simply got lost, the last episode also did not give too many concrete answers. In my opinion, the drama was saved by the relationship of the main characters, who were really nice to watch, well at least until it came out that Cir was really a little obsessed with Phu.I think that if the stalking and the multiverse theme were omitted, the drama would have done better as a good university BL although it would have been nice if Cira's mother got what she deserved. On the plus side is the soundtrack because it was wonderful and the chemistry between the characters that actually appeared here.I would have liked to read the story of the second couple Jin and Wim including the mind reading thing, it could have been interesting and not as complicated as the motif of many worlds. Was this review helpful to you?

Felt like we abandoned the plot somewhere
The Boy Next World was a show I was really looking forward to based on the trailer. Boss and Noeul have great chemistry, and I was excited to see them try out something a bit different - except, it didn't feel any different. The characters felt oddly similar to their roles in Love in the Air, and the parallel world plot somehow felt like an afterthought even though that's the entire premise of the show. After Cir (Boss) is hit by a car, he wakes up in the hospital in search of his boyfriend, Phukan (Noeul). However, it seems that Phu isn't his boyfriend at all, even though he knows everything about him as if he were. Cir must convince Phu that he's from a parallel world and win his heart in this world too, all while dealing with an overly controlling mother.
I was SO excited to see the parallel world aspect of this show play out, but was very disappointed with it! We barely got anything on it (or the whole mind reader thing?) and it left me wanting so much more from this show. I feel like they were banking on people watching for Boss and Noeul, and didn't bother putting in much effort to the storyline of the show. The worldbuilding just felt so underwhelming, and the ending didn't feel satisfying at all. I feel like they tried to smash too many ideas together, and didn't have time to truly explore the one really unique aspect of this show, which is this idea of multiple versions/timelines of Cir and Phu. I think this is only worth watching if you're a fan of Boss and Noeul.

Throw it against the wall and see what sticks- BL edition
The Boy Next World lured viewers in with the promise of a love story that transcends universes — a bold, sci-fi-infused twist on the BL genre. What we got instead was a half-baked, incoherent, and emotionally disjointed mess, starring two of the most frustratingly written leads in recent memory. It’s almost impressive how thoroughly the series fumbles what should have been a surefire success. With the magnetic BossNoeul pairing — a duo with undeniable chemistry proven elsewhere — it takes a special kind of misdirection to make that spark fizzle. And yet, the show succeeds in doing just that. What begins as an intriguing multiverse romance quickly devolves into an unsettling tale of a stalker and his very confused, very exhausted love interest.
The multiverse premise? Full of potential. Unfortunately, it’s treated like background noise — barely explored, poorly explained, and ultimately buried under an emotionally erratic romance that can’t decide whether it’s supposed to be fluff, angst, or thriller. By the time any substance appears (notably in Episode 9, which offers a rare glimpse of what could have been), the narrative is too far gone to recover.
The leads are asked to swing violently between tooth-rotting fluff and overwrought angst, often within the same scene, with little emotional continuity. The result is disorienting, and not in the intentional, sci-fi mind-bending way. Add to that a cast of secondary characters who barely register, and you’re left with a show that feels strangely hollow despite its high-concept ambitions.
The production does what it can — there are some beautifully shot moments, and the soundtrack works overtime to generate emotional weight — but no amount of lighting filters can patch up a weak script and inconsistent character motivations.
In the end, The Boy Next World isn’t just a disappointment. It’s a textbook case of how not to execute a great idea. It had the cast, it had the concept, but it lacked the clarity, direction, and emotional grounding to pull it all together.

Boy Next World: A Beautiful Disaster (Without the Beautiful Part)
If you ever wanted to watch a drama that promised a compelling concept but then ran in the complete opposite direction, here it is. Boy Next World dangled the exciting idea of parallel universes and fate before our eyes, only to promptly forget about it and instead serve us a stalker romance disguised as a love story. At its core, this drama had the potential to be something unique in the BL genre. A multiverse premise? Mind reading? The idea of love transcending dimensions? It should have been thrilling. But what we got instead was a show that played a game of "What Are We Even Doing?" for 10 episodes. The script had no idea what direction to take, the pacing was a disaster, and by the end, it felt like even the writers had given up.
Cir Needs a Restraining Order, Not a Love Story
Let’s be honest—Cir was not a romantic lead. He was a walking red flag. This man spent years obsessing over Phu, collecting information on his entire life, and then gaslit him into believing they were meant to be. His excuse? “I’m from a parallel universe.” Bruh, no.
And what’s worse? The drama treats it like a swoon-worthy romance. Instead of addressing how deeply disturbing it was that Cir literally stalked Phu into falling for him, the show expected us to root for them. Phu, despite being given every possible reason to run, simply shrugs it off like “Oh well, guess I’m in love now.” How? HOW?
It doesn’t help that Phu was written with all the personality of a slightly damp sponge. He spent most of the series being confused, running away, coming back, then getting confused again. He had no real agency, no depth, and made it painfully obvious that his only purpose was to be a passive love interest to Cir’s chaos.
A Plot So Inconsistent It Might Be From a Parallel Universe Itself
For a drama built around alternate realities, Boy Next World sure hated explaining its own concept. Was Cir actually from another world, or was he just a delusional stalker? Episodes couldn’t decide, flipping back and forth between “Yes, this is a sci-fi romance” and “Nope, this is just a psychological horror about an obsessive man and his oblivious crush.”
To make things worse, the few moments where they actually tried to explore the sci-fi aspect were so rushed and underdeveloped that they barely made sense. Mind reading? Barely explained. The alternate Cir? Contradicted itself. The weird glowing white room? Who knows. By the finale, the drama had twisted itself into such a mess that even the characters seemed exhausted trying to make sense of it.
And don’t even get me started on Cir’s mother—the evil corporate matriarch who spent the entire series being an over-the-top villain just for the sake of it. Her character was so cartoonishly bad that she felt like she belonged in another show entirely.
Acting? Chemistry? Editing? A Complete Mess.
The chemistry between Boss and Noeul was one of the only things holding this disaster together, but even that couldn’t fully compensate for the train wreck of a script. Their intimate scenes were well done, but a few spicy moments can’t fix a fundamentally broken romance.
Acting-wise, Boss did his best with the material he was given, but Noeul? It was like watching someone copy and paste his performance from Love in the Air and hope nobody noticed. His delivery was stiff, his expressions rarely matched the tone of the scene, and any emotional depth felt completely forced. At this point, it’s clear that he hasn’t grown as an actor.
On top of all that, the editing was a disaster. Scenes dragged on way too long, important moments were rushed, and characters repeated the same dialogue so much that it felt like they were stalling for time.
Final Thoughts: A Show That Should Have Stayed in Another Universe
There are bad dramas, and then there are dramas that actively waste your time. Boy Next World is the latter. It had all the ingredients for something great—an ambitious premise, a talented cast, and a chance to tell a story that was different from the usual BL formula. Instead, it gave us 10 episodes of nonsense, a romance that was more disturbing than endearing, and a plot that was allergic to making sense.
Watch this only if you enjoy suffering, because that’s all you’ll get.
Final Score: 1/10
Story: 1.0 (For having an idea and then immediately discarding it)
Acting: 3.0 (Boss tried, but he was carrying this mess alone)
Music: 3.0 (Not offensive, but forgettable)
Rewatch Value: 1.0 (Once is already too much)

You aren’t alone in there. I’m not alone out here. What’s your name?
I like movies about parallel universes, time travel, and space travel. Multiverse, string theory - give it to me. I have Michio Kaku's books on my bedside table.I love the german series Dark. I love it.I also like His dark materials, Everything everywhere all at once, Coherence, Todome no Kiss, Erased, Train ...I won’t list any more names.None.I wanted to love this so bad and i’m absolutely gutted that this series just isn’t for me. I’ll get to the point bc i have loads of things to say. So bear with me.
What I Liked:
This show started off good, like really good.
What i did end up enjoying were Cir and Phukan. They were both really careful and passionate. In all universes, hours and minutes.
The pajamas of Phukan. I want them all.
The opening song. It's great.
What I Didn't Like:
Moments dragged on & on. The same things happen over and over again, i wanted something different to finally happen.
A lot of talk for things that didn't matter. Highly repetitive. It was all the same stuff repeatedly.
Тhe ending seemed really rushed ant the twist about left me frustrated.
I found secondary characters pretty boring and I felt like everything I learned about them was just surface level stuff.
Cir ... fake liar, maybe even a stalker.Sorry, He is amazing but Mame always has to turn one character into a 'big red flag' so the other one can cry, making their whole relationship look like a joke. But I loved him.
I was just bored for 70% of this drama. Yes some interesting stuff does happen but I was bored.
So many things were left unexplained, i’m kinda mad ngl. like what was the point of mentioning them then?
The mother. She won't win the 'Mother of the Year' title.
The fiancée. I don't want to remember nothing, nothing.
Final Thoughts:
This show has no problems finding its audience, so i guess it’s just not for me.

Everything, Everywhere for Nothing
It's quite an achievement that they managed to create a series as cheesy and cringe as Love in The Air.It's the kind of bad series that you keep watching because it entertains you but that has no quality in anything that it sets out to do.
The script is a mess and tries to talk about so many things without saying anything. The whole parallel universe plot is poorly worked here and honestly, if you take that out of the plot it doesn't change anything.
I would easily believe that this series is a fanfic written by a 14-year-old teenager because the dialogues are terrible. It's a cheesy bunch of romantic declarations and a problematic romanticization of a character who is literally a stalker who lies and manipulates the guy to stay with him.
Girl, he knew the password to Phu's door. If you change the direction, this would be a horror series.
And unfortunately, not even the absurd chemistry between Boss and Nouel can save this series since the performances are so bad. It lacks nuance, character development and depth. It's a caricatured and shallow performance with Phu acting like a innocent and sassy child and Cir doing a pity face.
The ending is disappointing and the whole drama with Cir's family has such a superficial and lazy resolution that it's ridiculous. It's the height of lack of creativity and a good example of the lack of talent of whoever wrote this script. The best part is that right after that what Cir do? Girl, your bother exchange places with you like a objetc and go f*ck your boyfriend like a animal in return?
It's not the worst series there, but it's very weak and a complete waste of the chemistry the actors have, especially the secondary couple who deliver everything in the few moments they spend together.

A Highly Anticipated Disappointment
Fans were eagerly awaiting the return of the lead actors in another series, but unfortunately, the show does not live up to the high expectations. Despite the promising premise, this series is ultimately a letdown. It's slow-paced, repetitive, and the story feels strange and hard to follow. While the chemistry between the two leads is still strong, the plot itself doesn't offer enough to make it engaging or enjoyable.Boss Chaikamon portrayal of Cir is completely unconvincing and lacks any real depth, making it difficult to empathize with his character. His crying scenes, in particular, were so poorly executed that they were almost painful to watch. It is unclear whether the problem lies in the script, the casting, the direction, or the actors' performanc, but either way, the character of Cir falls flat in a big way.
The inconsistency in the storyline doesn't help matters either. While the concept could have been promising, the execution fails to deliver. There are moments that feel like they’re leading somewhere meaningful, only to disappoint with awkward pacing and unexplained narrative choices.
On the positive side, the chemistry between the two leads is undeniable, and their intimate moments are in a league of their own. It’s clear that the actors have mastered the art of on-screen romance, something many others in the genre could learn from. But sadly, this spark isn't enough to save the series as a whole.

the bar was already low and it got even lower HELP
i wish i could just put it in the "Typical Cringe Thai BL but it's fun" category but this was all ~dark and mysterious~ and nothing is fun here. it took itself so seriously and for what? so i'm sorry but this is just in the really really bad category, it's funny lol this writer is surrounded by yes-men? no one objected this? at one point, i was a bit hopeful because someone can actually hear thoughts so something supernatural does happen in this world but in the end, that part just became a ridiculous bit lmao i'm not asking for realism in a thai BL but at least, make SOME things make sense. AT LEASTTTi don't want to go into the detail of how bad the plot was. i'll just talk about the romance but oop ROMANCE WHEREEE? even if that was all real right? let's say it is. it still did not make sense that cir was all over phu when he keeps saying he was so in love with HIS PHU from his own world. sir, that phu is literally a stranger to you. they are different people. and they want me to believe this is romantic! what makes me hate this even more is even phu actually pointed this fact out. so he knows this guy acting like that is very weird. then next thing you know, they're making out lol. i...? and by the very end there, i can't believe he was forgiven SO easily. just when you think it coudn't get any worse, he sings at the end of the apology video.... hahaha HELP. if i were phu, i would feel so freaking stupid and terrified and would have trust issues like crazy. someone who's supposed to love me humiliating me that way?! no way. anddd i would file for a restraining order. the things cir know! my god, i am scared. characters wise, they are just very bland to me. i was hoping if i wasn't into the romance, at least make me like these characters, even the supporting cast! i don't think there's anyone fun or interesting sadly so there's that. also, i know sex scenes sell and maybe i sound like a prude but girl, memindy and their characters always getting a boner scenes are just..... it needs to stop. let's grow up lmao
the writing is so bad, i think it also affected how i see the chemistry of these actors. i've always thought boss and noeul have good on-screen chemistry but after this, it just brought back my negative feelings about the thai BL industry falling into the "love team" culture to be honest.
honestly, one of the reasons i finished this is because i don't want to get a "well you did not see the whole picture" lol i saw it and i'm more disappointed than ever only because i was truly looking forward to this. i'm sorry, i'm being so negative here but this strong reaction is because i was excited and i had expectations. i wouldn't even call it high expectations because Love in the Air is what i'd call "typical bad thai BL but i kinda ate it up lmao" so the bar was low. but oof, it went even lower for me. i am sad and mad. this is so sad guys 😂💀

Great acting but what about the plot...
The story... not much, maybe even terrible.I tried really hard to like it and understand what was going on, but to no avail.
First the pros of the project: i must say that you can see that Boss and Noeul have taken their acting to a higher lvl. Even though their chemistry was a bit better in Love in the air it doesn't affect my opinion that they did a good job. That was the only thing that was convincing to me out of the whole series.
And now the major stumbling block, the plot:
The idea of parallel worlds could have been great. The scenes with clips from other worlds were very engaging and refreshing but that was like 10% of the series. Pity. I'm unfortunate that the character became a suicidal stalker as a result. Maybe it would all make some sense if they left out the fantasy elements altogether. Like, Cirrus pretending to be from another world, but it wasn't really true and I would have closed it there. Nothing about him actually being able to see those other worlds or Jin hearing the thoughts of others. I'm afraid that wasn't crucial to the plot. Just an extra element for no reason.
The music sometimes worked sometimes it didn't. The opening I have to say was beautiful. I play the song all the time. It was composed very well! But it really works as an opening???? I'm not so sure anymore. I'd definitely shorten it a bit, because then it feels more like a music video than a theme song for a show. That hurt it a lot in my opinion. Otherwise, the OST was average for me. Sometimes it didn't fit at all BUT sometimes they did underline the mood. It was like a seesaw.
So to wrap things up. I don't really know how to rate the series, because if I give it a bad rating, it will hurt the effort of the actors, which was really clear to see, but the plot was too..strange for me to give it a 7 with a clear conscience.

My honest opinion
This story had a lot of potential but it wasn't polished enough to deliver a well planned plot. I like the idea of multiverse and how they chained them together, but I feel it didn't do justice to the chemistry and acting of BossNeoul. The story should have worked on more and they also added unnecessary nc scenes, some of them felt forced, not adding to the story. Was this review helpful to you?

The Stalker Next World
One thing that I admire about MAME is how masterful they are in colouring something green when it was clearly neon red. Not many can do that. But the fact they were able to do it in both the stories that got adapted is a talent. Art majors are crying in the corner. Artists wish they could colour as well as her.And what's even more masterful, is how people actually fall for it. It's amazing. Truly. I wish I could gaslight my audience into thinking a creep is the most wholesome sad boi ever. Actually jealous of MAME.
Now, let's break down this series as I understood it and see what went wrong.
Cir got in an accident one day, and after waking up from his coma he immediately finds Phu and believes he's his boyfriend. Then, he claims that he is from a parallel universe where they were boyfriends. However, we later find out that parallel universes don't exist and Cir was lying because when he was in a coma he saw a dream that he and Phu were together (and according to him felt so real) that he decided to make the executive decision to lie about it and convince Phu he truly is from another universe. Keeping up so far? No? Okay, great, because plot twist, parallel universes actually do exist and the "dream" that Cir was having wasn't actually a dream, but him teleporting into the body of another Cirrus from the universe before his and living that life for a while. Then plot twist again (which isn't really a plot twist, but whatever), the reason why Cir knew everything about Phu (down to his ROOM PASSCODE!!!) was because he has been watching Phu since high school. Then we get a bit of angst, some amnesia plot line, a confession in the middle of the road because these two fucking idiots haven't learnt their lesson after Cir got hit by a car TWICE, some family drama and finally a happy ending.
Got all of that? Great! Now let's discuss.
Let's start with PHUKAN by asking the most obvious question first. Why is Phu, a grown-ass adult, acting like a child? Why BLs can't move away from making their bottoms absolutely childlike is weird to me. It's like a weird fetish they all have. You can make your characters sunshine-y, but that doesn't immediately equate them to children. Take North for example from Fourever You. He's a sunshine character, and most definitely NOT acting like a fucking child. Just stop. Enough.
Many have said this before, and I completely agree with them, this is just Rain 2.0 but less of a brat and more naïve. Because how the fuck did Cir manage to make him believe in PARALLEL UNIVERSES??? I'm sorry, but this is the most unrealistic part of the show. If someone came up to you and claimed to be your boyfriend and proceeded to list EVERYTHING they knew about you INCLUDING YOUR FUCKING DOOR PASSWORD, you'd think he's fucking delusional and out to murder you, not that HE'S FROM ANOTHER UNIVERSE! The entire premise of the show falls on the shoulders of Phu's naivety and that's downright stupid. You genuinely can't expect me to believe this whole ass 20 year old didn't realise Cir basically stalking him since high school. And that no one around him thought it was weird either.
And let's not forget how whiny he is. My dear lord give me strength because I was about to lose it within the first five minutes of the first episode and the show didn't even start. I don't know if it was Noeul's acting or if it was Phu's character, but whatever it was, it made wanna bash a brick against his head. And this constant whining coupled up with everyone around him babying him was not helping. Yes, his dad died. Yes, his mother loves his dad more than she does her own child and refuses to come back to Thailand. And yes, that can explain his naivety, but for some reason, the writers equate that naivety to him being childlike. You can be naïve but still be mature. You can be naïve but still have bloody common sense. Phu being naïve is not the problem, it's the writers using his naivety to make him a child and using it to explain his lack of thinking that's the problem.
The show already shows us that Phu has the tendency to always put others first, and I really liked that for his character. It added more than him being childlike. Now, they could have easily used that as the driving force of the show instead of making him fucking stupid. He thinks Cir is goddamn bonkers, agrees to go along with his ramblings of them being boyfies until he finds out what is actually wrong with him, then falls for Cir along the way. Done. Not so hard. But of course, the writers want you to believe someone who has developed their frontal lobe will believe a crazy guy who legit appeared are their doorstep after running away from the hospital. Yes, of course. So realistic.
And speaking of realistic... *cough cough* CIRRUS, come here my boy. Take a seat on that chair. Yes, that one by the wall. *Whacks him with a frying pan*
Listen, I'm all for tops that are completely enamoured by their bottoms. Really, I am. Nothing gets my feet kicking more than a man who is totally obsessed with you while being the greenest fucking flag possible.
What I do have a problem with is when that said man blatantly disregards their friends, your friends and his family. I don't find that hot. I find that disgusting. I don't like men who are jealous of their own family and friends when they get close to their partner. And whose entire personality is their partner. Like, I can't tell you a single thing this man likes doing except that he likes Phu. He doesn't work. Basically doesn't even attend his classes. Is always where Phu is and is constantly giving Phu's friend the death glare. And is so overbearing to the point where I'm uncomfortable. Honestly, if that works for Phu and he still loves the man, then great on him. At least he's not abusive.
But I'll tell you what he is though. A FUCKING STALKER!! Yes, you heard me and I'll say it again, he is a STALKER!! And not just any old stalker, but a class-A stalker. I'm not joking. Cirrus is EVERYWHERE. Like, everywhere. Phu could move to America without telling a soul and Cirrus would pop up in front of him in the middle of butt fuck nowhere. There is nothing cute about this. It's downright creepy. If he were to watch Phu from a distance in the places where they are together (like in class, the playground, the canteen...) fine, whatever, everyone does that when they have a crush. BUT TO ACTIVELY FIND OUT WHERE PHU'S DORM IS, WHERE HE BASICALLY IS AT EVERY MOMENT OF THE DAY, AND HIS PASSCODE??? Yeah, fuck off. That's fucking weird no matter how nicely you treat someone after getting together. And to top it all off he has evidence of his stalking by keeping a pile of pictures he secretly took inside a book he keeps out in the open. He's a weirdo and stupid. At least they address this problem with Toh in Secret Crush on You (and this dude had it worse), but no one here points out how weird this shit is. In fact, they all brush past it and glamorise it as him being so in love and boohoo isn't he so pitiful sad emoji sad emoji. Yeah, no. Shut up.
The genres of this show are Thriller, Romance and Fantasy. At first, I was so confused on why this was labelled as thriller when there were no thriller elements, but then I realised it's for the stalking. Should have been labelled as horror if I'm being honest.
And I haven't even gotten to the part where his reasoning for all of this isn't just cuz he was in love with Phu and is a coward to make a move, but also because he wants to keep Phu safe from his mother. And you know, the easiest fucking solution is to stay ten feet away and not move into the same apartment complex that your crush lives on. But what would I know? I've never been in love.
But this whole side-plot is so stupid. He traded away his freedom for four years of university, and after getting his degree he's basically not allowed to do anything out of his own free will. So why? Why the fuck would he start a relationship with Phu??? What was the plan here? Fuck around then ditch him? Because before the whole pep talk about Cir finally putting his foot down from Wim, he was still planning to uphold the rules/orders from his mother. And even in the end, before Phu finally got his shit together, he was still under his mother's palm. AND HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO SHOW HE WAS GOING TO BE HIS OWN PERSON!! This entire plot point of Cir finding his own freedom and getting out of his mother's clutches is so inconsequential to the whole plot of the show, and it basically went nowhere BECAUSE HIS OWN BROTHER TOOK HIS PLACE. WHO CIR HAPPILY FORGOT ABOUT!! We had a whole thing about how Cir would never let his brother take his place as his mother's property, but in the end, he just walks out hand in hand with Phu and never once looks back?? Be so fucking for real now.
And now onto the parallel worlds because I'm tired of typing about these two.
I haven't read the source material, but we do know that there weren't any parallel universes in it, and that Cir was making all of that shit up. And here is where the show did something good. Because if they just kept it as the original, then Cir wouldn't just be a creepy stalker, but downright delusional, manipulative, gaslighter and basically psychopath levels of get a restraining order against him. And while he is all of these already in the show, it's all mellowed out (apart from the stalking) by the fact that they included parallel worlds. Until the introduction of this, the pacing had been terrible and the romance just kept dragging with unnecessary plot beats to fill in the space. And it was because of this addition that I was finally invested in this show because something interesting was happening. Even if that investment came after 9 episodes.
HOWEVER. And yall know there was going to be a however. By making this addition, the writers shot themselves in the foot because they didn't know what else to do with it. They brought in such an interesting concept, only to fumble it in the end. The snippets of all the different universes that we could have possibly explored were amazing. And the lore that they were giving us was genuinely interesting. Until it just brought on more questions.
Why is Cir the only one who goes through parallel universes? Why did he travel into the body of another Cir while in a coma? And why did the other Cir travel into his? Is there a time limit? What makes them return to the original body? Is this a paradox? Because from my understanding, all these Cirs start making moves onto their Phus after finding out how amazingly they were loved by him and how wonderful their love was. So from this information it begs the question, who is the original Cir? Is there even an original Cir? Are they reincarnations of each other or are they separate entities? And the Cir dressed in black, the one from the previous universe, insinuated that none of the parallel universes had happy endings. Why? What happened? Why is this world special? Why did this Cir, the one that lied, stalked and manipulated Phu because he was a goddamn coward, get his happy ending, but not the Cirs that didn't lie and actually had a backbone? And these are just a few.
It's honestly just a shame that they didn't focus more on this part of the plot and only introduced it to add more drama into the story. It could have been such a good sci-fi mystery, but nope, we just stick to heavy handed romance instead.
Special mentions:
- Jin is my favourite character. Why does he have mind-reading powers? Fuck knows. When did he get them? Not a clue. Is he the only one with supernatural abilities? Couldn't say. For a second, I thought maybe we could be doing a supernatural children harvesting cult plot with Jin and his mind reading and Cir with his parallel universe jumping, but I guess that's too much of a plot. He was my favourite simply because I love the "I know everything but I'm just gonna smile, give out cryptic messages and watch the chaos ensue" characters. They're honestly my favourite.
- Wim was amazing, I wanted more off him. Just wish he didn't shout so much. It got annoying really quick. He deserved so much better than Cir as a friend. Dude does so much for Cir only to get nothing back.
- The mum. Fucking horrid. I don't see the point in her if they weren't even gonna try to give her a redemption arc or put her behind bars. This whole bullshit of, my children are my property and I'm using one of them to get back at my husband was ridiculous. We know nothing about her and everyone expects me to believe she's scary and powerful.
- Ozone. He needs to ditch his brother and find a better one. The fact that he got stuck in that household by taking his brother's place and no one even mentions him again is foul.
- The fiancé was so unnecessary. When are going to stop villainising exes and fiancés? Stop making them the scum of the earth who lust after the ML for the sake of drama! It's 2025, we need to stop this bs already.
- While I extensively complained about Phu's naivety/stupidity I loved when he actually stood up for himself when he needed to. He can get his praises for that.
- Boss as the Cir dressed in black was my favourite. There was something sinister about him and I whished we got more.
- Boss and Noeul definitely improved since Love in the Air. Noeul with black hair was so pretty and should keep that for his next series as well.
- The amnesia plot line. Why? Just why? Why are we bringing this trope back? Let it die in the trenches where it belongs. It was unnecessary and ridiculous.
This was a fun show for what it was, especially if you don't look too deeply into it. The characters are fun when you look past their glaring flaws, and the romance is quite cute if you decide to ignore the blatant elephant in the room. It's a MAME story so my expectations weren't that high to start with, and I knew coming in that Cir wasn't the green flag everyone portrayed him to be hence why my rating isn't lower. Set the bar low and go into it, and if don't like stalking your crush and then lying to them about it trope, then this will probably make you mad lmao.
