A Saucy Thriller With Raunchy Content
This series is an erotic roller-coaster ride through the world of gay love. If non-gay people want to know what it is like to be gay, then this is the series to watch. Not the idealized versions of BLs. This is what the world of gayness is, whether you want to believe it or not, accept it or not. It is what it is. Sure, it is the darker side, but it is no less real than the ornament sanitized version of what GAY love is via BL. In other words, this is its antithesis. This expresses the real world. It is a potpourri story that is at times impossible to follow and logically makes absolutely no sense; it has a ‘soap-opera aspect to it. And I loved every minute of it. Why? Because, it presents the darker side of ‘BL’. And if you think for one second that this world either does not exist or is not real, then you are misinformed and mistaken. As it does. What this story does is capture all the issues facing gay men today in a raw, gritty, realistic fashion. Sometimes a bit over-the-top dramatically but never ever unrealistically. To be sure, the problems are overblown, but never its lasciviousness.

I REALLY REALLY WANTED TO LOVE IT.
Ok I heard so much about this show and yeah I just don't get it. The actual story was really good but I'm going to say 90% of the "NC" scenes could of been cut out. Don't get me wrong I love a good NC scene but most of these didn't help the move the story along and I'm sorry but how is that EVERYONE wears the same brand and color underwear. Like seriously this could just be one long Comercial for Rich underwear. I love the story and all the twist and turns but by the end of it I was getting tired of watch watching these guys grind on each other in underwear that they stuffed for no other reason but to add more NC scenes that weren't even that good. Seriously, If I was that hard up for NC I'd just go watch porn. That being said I'll probably end up watching season 2 just to figure out WTF happened. LolWas this review helpful to you?

Playboyy — When Shock Replaces Story
Is that really an ending? Because it felt more like the screen simply stopped. If you are only here for explicit scenes, you may be satisfied. But if you came for characters, emotion, or narrative coherence, Playboyy leaves you with nothing to hold onto. This series doesn’t fail because it is provocative. It fails because it confuses provocation with storytelling.A Plot Without a Spine
The biggest issue is not the content , it is the absence of direction. The story moves from one scene to another without emotional logic, as if the series were afraid of choosing a meaning. Threads appear, disappear, and never resolve. The final episode offers no emotional or narrative closure. It does not feel daring. It feels unfinished.
Performances Without Grounding
Most of the cast are newcomers, and that alone is not a problem. The real problem is that they were not guided. The tears feel staged. The romance feels rehearsed. The drama feels theatrical in the worst sense, like something from another era, where emotions are exaggerated but never lived. Without a strong director or experienced co-stars to ground them, their performances remain surface-level.
Why the Hype Exists
Let’s be honest. Some people rated this a 10 because of bodies, not because of story. There is nothing wrong with sensuality, but sensuality without emotion becomes noise. Without depth, even the boldest scenes lose impact.
Final Thought
Playboyy does not offend. It disappoints. Not because it is explicit, but because it has nothing to say.

Music
Are people.shiting on the music because of the effects or the soundtrack itself. I said this in another comment but like for me as a Film student/film maker yes, I will agree the effects are garbage especially during the scene when Jason Lee shoots the man that sound, I was like "Stagecoach 1939 movie did a better ass job and that wasn't even a BL) LOL. But the soundtrack is actually pretty nice. I will say this film has a lot of continuity issue like in the scene when Zouey is playing the violin and then in the next shot it vanished. I know a lot of people might not catch the detail but lord...the times I had to pause to talk about what happened (LIFE of a Film student)Was this review helpful to you?

I admit, it took me over a year just to finish this one. I finally got the willpower to finish it, and I must say, near the end, it got so bad that it actually made me accept that the whole show is pure camp. Around episode 12/13, I realized that this show embraces the mess that it is, and if you just accept it for what it is, it’s actually quite good. It’s quite good how bad it is. I ended up loving it! 😭There are a lot of things to consider about how bad the show is so good. Like for one thing, they’re supposed to be in a prestigious, elite school, aren’t they? But the setting for their scenes on campus, like the locker room or the bleachers, is all dilapidated and rundown. Actually, when I think about it, I think the majority of the settings in the series are all dilapidated and rundown places. And I also really appreciate the effort in trying to achieve aesthetically edgy scenes and settings. It’s just pure camp. It’s genius. And the fact that a lot of production choices were just bad and inconsistent, like a lot of the scenes where I’m guessing they’re supposed to be naked, but for some reason they’re still technically wearing underwear, but they have to act like they’re nude. So camp. It’s just all such a mess, but at the end, I sort of appreciate how messy it is and I kind of like it. Am I crazy? I’m not crazy. I mean, who doesn’t like butț sēx, but Jesus Christ, this show is just wild. Fuckįng in underwear? It’s like production doesn’t know how gay şex really works. Oh, my god. But then again, maybe it’s because they couldn’t really remove their underwear to begin with. Whatever. Pure messy, camp college, murder mystery, sex drama? It’s terribly bad. It’s so good. Promise! I guess I’m crazy.
Also, I love that they were really forcing the English parts for certain characters. I’m guessing it’s supposed to sound elite because speaking English is not normal for most Thai people. But I guess like father like son? Their English was so bad and awkward. I love it.
Finally, I really have to note, this is one of the only Thai shows in my memory that has acknowledged that the characters are gay. Like, they explicitly said that they are gay. As a gay person, I never really appreciated how even in this day, Thai BLs don’t explicitly say that a character is gay. I get gender is fluid, but come on. People are gay. It’s really not realistic, not accepting, or even admitting that a character is gay. 😤
Overall, this one was technically quite exhausting to get through (‘cause bǔtt sẽx), but I’d say it was still worth it. Pure camp, swear. And yes, we have a lot of potential for a season two, but considering how production went, among so many other things, I don’t know if realistically season two will still happen. But why not? More bǔtt séx. Hopefully without the underwear this time. 🤭
Respectable 8/10
P.S. Captain was the standout character for me, and shell is just so hot, Oh, my god. Give this man a leading role, and make sure he exposes dat asş! 😳

one does not simply review playboyy the series
What can I say about Playboyy? It has some of the best thriller plot writing I've seen in a bl. It has horrible dialogue and scene blocking. I watched every single episode rapt with attention. I actually screamed aloud (derogatory) at one sex scene. Every time they made those poor actors speak English I wanted to jump out a window. Recounting what happened in any given episode to my friends took at least 500 words, and that was usually just the last 15 minutes of that ep. There are like five sex scenes in each episode of varying quality and I think I actually learned something about the characters from each one. I don't think anyone takes their underwear off possibly ever because they had an underwear sponsorship.Look, I can't in good conscience recommend this show. I don't even know if I really enjoyed it. But I was fascinated, and I was intrigued. When the last episode ended and revealed there was going to be a season 2, I resigned myself to the fact that I will watch it, even if some of the events toward the end made me go wtf was that.
To actually provide some sort of review, it's a thriller-mystery featuring a twin swap. Nont/Nant was actually the best part of the show for me--I was surprised both by how much I liked the character and by the performance given by Dech, who I think did a solid job with a difficult role. Out of the...seven?? I think?? couples in this show, Nont and Prom were by far my favorite, both because I think the actors bounced off each other well and because I enjoyed the dynamic of Prom assisting Nont in his revenge. Did I think the part where they were pointing guns at each other and then started making out sexy? Yes, because it was.
It's funny, because the show kind of presents itself as being about Zouey, who is pivotal to the story, but honestly faded from my attention early on--though given events at the end of the season, this might have been intentional. If I ever manage to rewatch, I'll have to keep an eye on him, because I can't tell if they had his arc fully planned from the beginning or if they adjusted it as they went along. Him and Teena were largely uninteresting to me but also did have the sex scene that made me scream. Take that as you will.
As I said, I found the plotting/structure of the thriller really compelling in how and when it revealed information about the characters. The first few episodes are incredibly confusing because they present you with almost the entire main cast at once and for a long time, you won't know why some of them are important. Did I think some of the writing choices were absolutely batshit? Sure, but sometimes that's just how it goes in a thriller. What it was good at was providing all the characters with layers of motivations and interpersonal relationships to complicate the mystery.
Also, when it says they use sex to solve the mystery, they weren't joking about that. There was a point in like episode 4 where I went oh my god...they're actually using sex to solve the mystery...
As for the characters themselves, I appreciated that very few of them were one-note, even the ones who I thought were underwritten. I think some of the relationships were more compelling due to a combo of relevance to the main story and performance. But with this many couples, there's kinda something for everyone.
I don't know, gang. It's a hard show to review. I felt like it was something that happened to me more than it was something I watched. If you do decide to watch it, know that it takes a couple episodes to really get going (not with regard to sex--they start that right away) and that the list of content warnings at the beginning is no joke. It isn't an entirely heavy show--there are a lot of comedic moments, some intentional and quite a few that were probably unintentional--but your brain will feel scrambled. I'll see you when season 2 airs.

Don't Destroy the Audience
People will comment a lot about the sex and, sure, I'll admit it's a huge part of this series but we all knew that coming in and if you're complaining about it out there: you did this to yourself. You don't have to watch everything, sometimes things just aren't for you or about you and that's okay. This being said, that's never what bothered me (except maybe in the 1st episode but I think it's purposefully meant to shock you and disgust you at certain points so I won't hold that against the series bc I think it's intentional).
What I am gonna say, though, is the following: contemporary series productions work so hard to have huge plot twists and revelations and to surprise their audience (I'm staring right into your soul, Game of Thrones) that they forget the point of a narrative is to tell a cohesive story. The point of a narrative is for it to make sense.
Sure, it can be surprising and, by all means, when we have a mystery and so many stories overlapping and characters intertwined with each other, yes, surprises are good but after the initial shock the explanation has to make SENSE.
This "ending" that they gave us, though? It makes no sense. It kills the narrative, kills a lot of the characters and their arcs and what they were and makes the entire series a shaggy dog story that simply has no reason to be except that someone out there felt like wasting hours of people's lives on what I can only assume is one of the biggest pranks of all time.
It just... Feels like the people involved in creating this story (not the actors or the people in production but the writers and executives and the director) don't actually care about the audience, or the story they made themselves, but only about being mediatic and getting people on social media to talk about it.
Ig any press is good press, after all, huh? Well, it might be good press but it surely isn't a good series. Do with this information whatever you want.

Had high expectations
I mean, at first it was good but after a while it became like a soap opera or something. I like some of the characters and I also dislike some of them, the story was interesting but it was ruined because of the last two episodes. I was really confused. There were also moments that made me think: "Nooo why would you do that?!" and moments that I really enjoyed. I didn't really like the bad English that some of them were using, it felt rather cringy.
The Couples:
Teena+Zouey:
I wished to see them more since they were kind of cute.
Soong+First:
Toxic. Somewhat cute. Made me say "oooof" a lot.
Jump+Porsche:
Also toxic and I didn't really like Porsche in the beginning but my mind changed when I saw them in the end.
Keen+Captain:
Not my favorite. Captain sucks.
Prom+Nont:
Liked them a lot.
Aob+Puen:
Also liked them a lot.
Nuth+Phob:
Ehhhh not my cup of tea.

Don't judge
Honestly some of the reviews I read, looks like it's from people who can't handle a sex scene where they actually show a little skin and movement. And beacuse there is, they can only focus on that and they forget the story. Grow up. It's easy to dismiss a show based on low ratings, but sometimes the true value lies beyond the numbers. This is an example of that. I personally found the story really interesting and I hope for a second season."Playboyy" is a bold and captivating BL series that doesn't shy away from exploring mature themes with flair. The show, rated 18+, features nudity and some graphic sexual content, which are integrated to enhance its portrayal of intimacy and relationships. While these elements add depth to the story, they may not be suitable for all viewers. (you can see a BL , not like it of out of personal preference without leaving a bad review)
The chemistry between the leads is palpable, and the narrative is both engaging and emotionally resonant. Supported by high-quality production and a dynamic cast, "Playboyy" is a must-watch for those looking for a mature and meaningful addition to the BL genre.
The series includes scenes with nudity and some explicit content. If you can't handle that, it's not for you. Simple.

It deserves a chance.
I was shocked how much I got into this series and yes I know people just mention the inhercourse that goes on.But there is alot more to it and a plot that if you focus on it you want to know more.
You have a group of boys who think they are finding love. There are alot of stories behind each character and it is worth looking for there story because it opens your eyes alot to what is going in and not just the sexual side of it

interesting but it could have been even better
ok, so I watched this series because of the comments and I can say that I didn't find anything scandalous. What instead seemed exaggerated to me was the multitude of filler characters, I understood that there are topics that need to be debated, such as drugs, BDSM, ownership on somebody, crime, sex, sex everywhere with anyone, at any time, but I would have preferred fewer characters and with the development of the crime thread.
For example, I thought the way Nant died was very stupid (he was waving his hands like a cockroach when "Phop" cam from behind and put his hand on his nose and mounth, him being taller and stronger than "Phop")
what I didn't understand:
1. - "Zouey" in the first episode is a virgin and his friends call him a male whore so that he can finally have sex poor him, and then we find out that in fact he had been raped and his friends knew about it ... and then I wonder how his friends understand rape that way, why this side was not developed, why the show does't let us know how he managed to get over it ...... don't tell me that "Teena's" patience did everything, because then I think we don't understand what a rape is and what repercussions it leaves on a person's mind and life, plus it would have been extremely interesting to debate the subject of a man's rape - because most of the time we only talk about the rape of a woman, but not of a man ... and it could have been something extremely interesting
2. - "Zouey" leaves the paintings of his obsession covered by a cloth in the middle of the room and tells "Teena" not to look... oh... seriously????...
3. - in the last episode we found out that "Zouey" was obsessed, in love and RAPED by Jason Lee ..... like WHAT??????????? ... HOW ???????? .......... more details were definitely needed (because when "Zouey" won the scholarship it was as if they met for the first time, him and LEE)
4. - it seems that "Zouey" had some stronger feelings towards Nant, it was a little bit more than just friend love from "Zouey's" part ... and we don't know how Nant was feeling about him ... could there have been a development?????
5. - I didn't like this exaggeration of sex anytime, anyway, with anyone, anywhere ... I mean, if someone tears your ass and you're bleeding, how much would you want someone to come and give you a handjob??? .... like .... WTF???? , or, you have to perform a dozen a night for a dozen of customers, because your crush was mad on you and didn't want to work and left it all to you, and then your crush comes to you to make love .... like ??? really??? aren't you tired???? you were the only one working that night ... like take a break, sleep ... eat ... and then fuck again
6. - all the actors had the same underpants ... why???? ... at one point it was funny, but then ... really????
what i liked:
1. - the relationship between the 4 friends: - if it had been a little more developed it would have been even better, but it was beautifully brought to life by the actors
2. - I really liked the relationship between: "Zouey" + "Teena" and "First" + "Soong"
what I would have liked to be more developed:
1. - "Zouey's" rape
2. - "Zouey's" feelings for Nant and for LEE (he was obssesd with his rapist - that is a topic)
3. - I would have liked Lee's character to be much more developed, him being a negative character, and it seemed that he could play it very well - I really would have liked to see him play this tyrant who owns a club and who rapes and ... so on
4. - and even the character "Prom" should have been more developed (just to be the one who wears masks when having sex and that's it, it's a shame because he's a good actor)
I would really like there to be a 2-nd season at some point just to see what happens to the characters, how they develop, what happens Nont
