This is one of the best K-dramas I have seen in such a long time. It was so refreshing. The plot, the characters, the relationships. You will laugh. You will cry. You will gasp. I absolutely adore the three male leads and their friendship. They bring such levity to action and dark situations. While some of the action and violence does become a bit repetitive and tiresome, you do get a bit of satisfaction from it. The only reason I don’t give it a 10 is because I very rarely give 10s and also, the plot did drift a little towards the end and I wasn’t a huge fan of the implication of the ending.

Agent Kim Reactivated: A Rollercoaster of Kicks, Giggles, and Pure Rage! ⚡

If you want to see So Ji-sub glare at someone so intensely that you feel the need to apologize, this is your show. For the first 10 episodes, Agent Kim Reactivated is an absolute shot of adrenaline. So Ji-sub slips back into Manager Kim’s tailored suit like a glove—delivering stoic one-liners and bone-crunching takedowns with that signature nonchalant swagger.

And can we talk about his two chaotic sidekicks? Absolute gold. They bring the perfect blend of nervous comic relief and unexpected bravery, turning every mission into a beautifully messy buddy-cop chaos fest. The action choreography is top-tier; it’s fast, brutal, and makes you want to start hitting the gym (you won’t, but you’ll think about it).

BUT (and it’s a big, frustrated but)...
What in the world happened in the last two episodes? It’s like the writers ran out of budget for explosions and decided to fill the time with people staring mournfully out of windows. The pace grinds to a screeching halt, and the tight plot loosens into a melodramatic puddle.

However, my real blood pressure spike is reserved for one man: Gang Chang.

WHY. DOES. MANAGER. KIM. KEEP. LETTING. HIM. GO?!
This villain has more lives than a cat on caffeine. Kim catches him in a warehouse? Let’s him escape. Corners him in a high-rise? Slips away again. By the fourth time Kim hesitated, I was literally screaming at my screen, “Handcuff him to a toilet, you absolute legend!” It’s so frustratingly illogical that I almost threw my remote at the TV. Kim can dodge bullets, but he can’t seem to dodge the "idiot ball" when it comes to this sleazeball.

Final Verdict:
Despite the flat, infuriating finale and Gang Chang’s magical plot-armor, Agent Kim Reactivated is still a decent, fun binge. So Ji-sub’s charisma and the trio's bromance carry it over the finish line—even if they trip right at the end.
Rating: 7/10 (Would be a 9 if Kim had just locked a door for once). Watch it for the action, stay for the chemistry, and keep a stress ball nearby for the ending! 🥋🍿

I went into Agent Kim Reactivated expecting a fast-paced, action-packed drama, especially with So Ji Sub playing a former elite agent. So naturally, I was expecting action basically every second. Unfortunately, the drama didn't quite deliver that for me.

I'd give it a 7.5/10.

The premise itself is pretty straightforward: a father will do whatever it takes to get his daughter back. And honestly, I liked the emotional side of that story. Kim isn't trying to save the world, he's trying to bring his daughter home. So Ji Sub does a great job portraying the contrast between the awkward, ordinary Manager Kim and the terrifying agent he used to be. Whenever Agent Kim finally comes out, you can feel the entire character change. His expression, posture, and movements become completely different. So Ji Sub is really convincing in those moments, and I honestly wish we had gotten more of them.

The Action Was Too Slow for Me. This was probably my biggest issue with the drama. For something marketed as an action/spy drama, I expected a lot more action throughout the series. Instead, the drama takes its time with the whole "finding his daughter" storyline. And while I understand that they needed to establish Kim's ordinary life and his relationship with Min-ji, I felt like they stretched that part out way too long, especially considering the drama only has 10 episodes.

There were definitely moments where I started losing interest. I kept thinking: "Okay... when is Agent Kim actually going to start being Agent Kim?" The action is there, but it feels like the drama is slowly building toward something, rather than giving us consistent action throughout. Then, when the final few episodes arrive, it's almost like the drama suddenly remembers, "Oh right, we're an action drama!" and throws most of the big action sequences at us all at once.

And ironically, those last few episodes were some of my favorite parts because that's when the drama finally felt like the show I was expecting from the beginning. I just wish that energy had been spread throughout the entire 10 episodes instead of being saved mostly for the end.

The Middle-Aged Father Trio Saved It for Me Honestly, if it weren't for the middle-aged former-agent trio, I'm not sure I would have finished this as enthusiastically as I did. Kim, Sung Han-soo, and Park Jin-cheol were probably my favorite part of the drama. These guys are basically middle-aged dads who happen to be former elite agents, and their friendship brought exactly the kind of humor and energy the slower parts of the drama needed. One minute they're acting like ordinary middle-aged men, and the next they're planning an operation or beating someone senseless. Their chemistry felt natural, and I genuinely looked forward to their scenes. They kept me watching during the parts where I was starting to lose interest in the main storyline. I honestly wouldn't have minded if the drama had spent a little more time with these three.

I did appreciate that the emotional core of the drama is Kim's relationship with his daughter. He's not some superhero trying to save the world. He's just a father who wants his child back. And So Ji Sub does a good job showing that desperation while still maintaining Kim's quiet personality. When he finally switches back into his old agent mode, it carries more weight because we know why he's doing it. My issue isn't really with the father-daughter storyline itself. It's that the search takes up too much of the 10-episode runtime. I wanted the story to get to the bigger conspiracy and Kim's past much sooner.

Overall, Agent Kim Reactivated was enjoyable, but it didn't quite live up to what I expected from an action drama starring So Ji Sub.

The 10-episode format sounded perfect, but somehow the drama still managed to feel stretched in the middle. The search for Kim's daughter could have been shortened, while the action and Agent Kim's past could have been explored much more. So Ji Sub was great, the father-daughter relationship worked emotionally, and the middle-aged agent trio was easily my favorite part.

It's worth watching if you're a So Ji Sub fan or enjoy secret-agent/revenge stories, but if you're going into it expecting nonstop action from beginning to end, I'd lower those expectations.

For me, the middle-aged dad squad was the MVP.

The combination I didn't expect to see ...

I started watching this because of the hype around it yet I was surprised because it deserved the hype , it has a great combination of comedy , drama and action , I thought it was going to be more focused on the action part and ignore the other aspects yet it was well balanced with a satisfying end and no loose ends .

but what I am really trying to understand is ju gang chan's obsession with killing ML and his daughter , like at first he was trying to cover his daughter's crime and then it turned to revenge for his ego, which was truly annoying to watch sometimes , if the other half focused on the north koreans searching for and trying to eliminate the traitor "Ri Eung Ryeong" It would still be great rather than turning into ju gang chan's revenge.

that being said you'll have a great time watching this .

Best Spy Action K-Drama in a while...

Moving, Tempest, Vagabond - the top spies K-Drama just got its newest contender.

If we're talking about spy movies/drama, it's common to have that one legendary person who frightens the entire underworld (John Wick & Kim Doo-shik), then there's those shadowy government individuals who'd do anything to catch them for peace.

Agent Kim exactly built upon that, but how is it successful, where's the fresh and hot story?

Well, when did the last time we had a middle-aged man fighting thugs and spies like cockroaches? And that man has 2 another close middle-aged friend who were just as good as him, who shares the same mud and blood in past lives? Now they're working together to rescue the main character's daughter.

Enter Kim ********, Park Jin Cheol, Seong Hansu.
Mere thugs? punching bags
Government agents? show mercy
Mercenaries? 1v1 fodder

Even for casual K-Drama watchers, the hype of retired spy taking revenge on his daughter is through the roof, the constant extremely high ratings shows that well.

Of course, there are pros and cons of the story, some favor the hero dad action and some favor the grounded realistic plot, all i can say is: this is a manhwa adaptation. I don't even know "Manager Kim" is an adaptation rather than a limited series. Watching as learning that it is one or not, it doesn't disappoint.

Knowing there are a lot more to come, I just can't wait to see the twists that will have us viewers on the edge, we haven't seen the trio really put up to the brink of death on strong enemies.

Agent Kim just got reactivated, so hyped for more seasons to come!!!

just boring

For me, the first episode was outstanding. It did a great job of making the audience care about the characters. I honestly had absolutely no complaints. The first episode was a solid 10/10.

The second episode started to annoy me just a little, but I still thought it was excellent. Then everything began to fall apart.

The comic relief provided by the two sidekicks became irritating because I genuinely don't see any place for that kind of humor when your friend's daughter is in mortal danger. What bothered me even more, though, were the overly long flashbacks, the constant cheap adrenaline rushes, and characters so exaggerated that they were almost cartoonish.

By episode five, I actually fell asleep out of boredom and slept through about 40 minutes.

I'm giving it a high rating because the production quality is excellent, but I don't know... At this point, after watching episode five, I'm starting to wonder whether I even want to finish the series, especially since the preview for episode six wasn't exactly encouraging. What started as a father's mission to find his daughter has turned into a clumsy intelligence-agency conflict and a gang war that's brutal purely for shock value. And that's just boring.

Nothing new

It was really great to see Ji Sub again in action. The drama though couldn't really leave a mark for me. He has done this type of work quite a lot and the story is pretty much predictable. It is one of those dramas where you have to brace yourself with over the top action and over the top writing. Things happened precisely the way our main characters wanted it. The plot included two stories, completely unrelated, which later sort of merged in the background and there you go... another north-south animosity drama unfolds. The drama was good when it was less political in the first half, afterwards it is the same old story. I can overlook over the top action anytime (I know what to expect from such plot) however, the thing that made me cringe was the fact that the ML's daughter even after loosing so much blood and after being in the plastic bag for a day or two still survived the blow and woke up hale and hearty, like she was in a deep sleep. I felt like dropping it then and there. All the seriousness of the plot just vanished in that moment. It could have been a great show and I had really very high expectations when I saw the ratings but it was just a one time watch for me. If I just stop watching it for a day or two I don't think I would be very much inclined to pick it up again.
