SJS is a master class actor~Currently 4 eps in and decided to put out feelers ahead of time for ppl to watch. It is DAM good~
Dr Lawyer was rough watch but was followed up with Mercy For None which felt like a return to old.
This has similar feel but harder tugs on the heart~
Master spy turned into a office job parent, gangsta thug turned into a successful CEO parent and it's clash of their kids that pulls them back into their previous lines of work.
For does not the love invested with your children give incredible strength and resilience to do wonderful AND horrible things? That's the story here being told from two fathers with similar yet different rhetorics on the making~
2 left. Phenomenal piece. Old school SJS. Vengeance and beat downs. Non stop action. Twas like watching Rambo, Commando, American Ninja etc.......they tried something new with a triple side by side by top 1v1 displays in episode 6 with cameras on both fighters and shadow cams that was meant to mimic and match the movements of the fighters in ep6. Nice concept, failed execution. The shadows were awful and jerky and never in sync. That was my only gripe about this drama. I loved everything else, especially the emotional reunions in some scenes. The action is still good and it's been all about the kids for me too as a father as well.
It's definitely worthy of a watch and a rewatch eventually. Great drama to look at when your bored of the rom coms~
7/27/26 Finale edit........there was a LOT of stuff crammed into the last episode. Every person made an appearance. All things were concluded and I mean every character was dealt with a wide gapping open ending for the agent himself. My biggest gripe was with how the showdown ended with gangsta daddy it should never have progressed to the point it did and you will agree immediately upon watching fur yourself. But nitpicking aside, the piece was a great watch~

Amazing potential
I honestly loved how this drama begun. I’m a fervent fan of action / mystery dramas, especially Korean. I make sure I watch one as soon as it’s released. Therefore, speaking from experience, the plot was good. Revenged based, yes. I’m aware there are many revenge based kdramas but Agent Kim Reactivated followed a path that makes it a little different from the others. Especially, the fact that Kim’s identity was completely unknown to his daughter and so was his previous nationality.Which is why I liked how Min-ji always stood her ground despite not knowing who her father actually is. It shows how she’s naturally a cool girl.
However, the drama obviously contains its own flaws. The very first and foremost flaw was the SMD. I don’t think there was any need for their involvement in Kim’s business to be this prominent. At least not until episode 7-8. Yes, they had their importance but still not so much to the point that they had to be up in everybody’s nose like that. They diverted the drama from its actual plot and purpose as well. It was supposed to be revenge-based which, yes, it largely was but their involvement did stir up things a lot. They should’ve just laid low until they arrested Kim and Ri Eung Ryeong appeared in the South. That way, they could’ve portrayed their importance in a better manner as well.
Next, Ju Gang Chan. What can we say about this guy? Got involved for no reason just because of his useless daughter. Like, I totally understand that this is what forms the basis of the drama. But really, it gets annoying after some point. It’s not realistically possible for a man so rich to love his daughter, who brings absolutely no use to him and has the potential to cause impeccable damage to his reputation, so much. Anybody would agree that it’s unrealistic. I understand he must love her but definitely not to the point that he would join forces with the North just to take revenge on his daughter’s enemy’s father. This had more to do with his ego that Kim hurt. However, that again merely leads back to his daughter, Hye Ri. I liked how he got humbled every time though.
Nonetheless, I would conclude it’s a good drama with good thrill. High rewatch value as well

The Cast That Made It a 10/10
The story wasn't always equally strong for me, but the cast absolutely made this drama. So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho and Joo Sang-wook were such a pleasure to watch together, and I was also impressed by Seo Su-min, especially considering this was her debut. One of those dramas where I enjoyed the characters enough to forgive some weaknesses in the writing and I would definitely watch a second season.Was this review helpful to you?

Father-universe some of us may or may not relate
Agent Kim Reactivated is based on the webtoon Manager Kim, where Mr. Kim tries to connect with his teen daughter Min-ji, but later finds out his daughter goes missing. His friends, Jin-cheol and Han-su also help him while they face consequences of identity reveal and Ju Kang-chan's reckless actions of wanting Min-ji dead because of his daughter, Hye-ri who got in a fight with Min-ji after insulting her as 'motherless'. North Korean agent, new 66 and the SMD go looking for Mr. Kim after he is suspected involved in suspicious activity.I have always thought how different the drama and webtoon would be if Min-ji were to be dead instead of surviving a near-death experience, since she bled a lot from that brick hit. Imagine if she got head and skull trauma and actually died. Everything after episode 5, where Mr. Kim first enters the cold warehouse sees his daughter dead. He'd definitely take her body back, but I do imagine how there would be an impact after episode 5. You can even change it to deep coma if it's possible enough.
In my opinion, this k-drama including the webtoon which I plan to read everyday has become my permanent comfort drama.
I don't have a supporting father, he's alive but he opposes me, even when someone insults me or when I am struggling. Mr. Kim is a kind of father who's the exact opposite of mine, he's a loving father to Min-ji, promising his dead wife to take care of their daughter and taking responsibility himself. Even after getting on his knees in the principal's office, to which Min-ji shouted at him for, he MADE Kang-chan get on his knees to apologize to Min-ji.
His pride was Min-ji. To me, Mr. Kim is like a fictional father figure and I imagine myself as Min-ji in the parallel universe. The drama itself made me feel loved by a fictional father, including the uncles. I also have an uncle, but he's just like my father. Han-su and Jin-cheol are also like an uncle figure to me. The friendship between the trio is also really pretty, they are always there for each other even if the other doesn't want to, they try to find and excuse to help the other (Jin-cheol and Han-su in episode 9 when Mr. Kim gets captured).
As for the relationship between Min-ji and Hye-ri, I like how Min-ji is smart and stands up for herself. Not in the way where she fights Hye-ri, but she does not tolerate unnecessary disturbance, especially from hye-ri for no reason. Hye-ryeong irritates me even though she's a minor character who becomes use of Park Kang-seong (Yeong-gwang's brother), Hye-ryeong seems to be a two-faced person as well.
The villains are different, Kang-chan and Hye-ri's downfall makes me wonder what Mrs. Ju (Hye-ri's mother and Kang-chan's wife) does not because of how she realizes why Min-ji even beat up Hye-ri in the first place that she almost died, but the impact that puts into her mental health. The ending seems to leave a door open for season 2. Maybe Mr. Kim hasn't finished his fist job yet. Jung-dae, after stabbing Kang-chan might end up being an independent street thug. Him and Nam already have the biggest hate relationship, especially the contact saving of 'Ju Kang-chan's Lackey' and 'Worthless Thug', it was so direct.
Overall, this k-drama will forever be my 10/10 rating and comfort drama. I recommend you to watch, both for plot and family-related tropes. Especially if you probably have never felt father's love like me.

The Ahjussi Trio Really Carried This One
Agent Kim Reactivated was such an unexpectedly fun watch. I went in thinking it would be mostly action and serious ex-agent stuff, then somehow I ended up laughing way more than I expected. The trio was easily my favorite part. Seong Han-su and Park Jin-cheol constantly messing around while Agent Kim keeps that permanently serious face was just too funny. Even during tense scenes, their little comments and reactions made everything more entertaining. And for once, the comedy actually worked for me from start to finish—none of the jokes felt forced.So Ji-sub fits Agent Kim so well too. He doesn’t need exaggerated expressions or dramatic lines to look intimidating. Sometimes he just stands there and you already know somebody is about to get beaten up. 😂 I also liked that they gave him softer moments with his daughter, because it made him feel like more than just the usual cool, overpowered ex-agent character.
Seo Su-min was also a pleasant surprise. For her first supporting role, she held her own pretty well beside a cast with much more experience. She didn’t feel awkward or like the obvious newbie, which I honestly appreciated.
The drama does have some slower parts in the middle, and yes, there are scenes where logic basically leaves the building. But at some point I just stopped questioning it and enjoyed the ride. It’s not trying to be some super realistic, complicated thriller anyway.
Overall, this was the kind of drama I could just sit back and have fun with. Good action, genuinely funny moments, enough heart, and a cast that made even the ridiculous scenes enjoyable. Definitely one of those dramas I’d watch again just for the trio.

A strong start that lost its way
I wanted to see what all the hype was about—and honestly, I'm happy that a drama centered on ajusshis is getting this much attention. Normally, shows like this get overlooked while so many other gems fade into obscurity.The premise hooked me from the start. I really liked the story of Agent Kim trying to uncover the truth behind his daughter's disappearance, and watching the trio of former operatives work together was a lot of fun.
That said, the humor sometimes felt overdone, clashing with the otherwise serious tone. And somewhere around the halfway point, the storyline became a mess—and it only got worse from there. I pushed through to the final episode just to see how it ended, but to be honest, I didn't miss much. The pacing dragged, and the tight plot loosened into something far less engaging.
It's a shame because I really liked the cast, and the concept had so much potential. But the execution just didn't hold up. I'll probably forget this drama in a few days—it didn't stand out enough to leave a lasting impression.

overall, great drama, Good plot.I'll be honest, I haven't read the manwha, so idk if the drama is the same as the manwha or not. this ai a very good drama, but the last 3 eps really felt like they dragged along for an eternity. maybe if min ji and her dad didn't reunite until the end, after having gone through all of that hell, the last 3 eps would haveade sense. because they really made it seem like they're tying up all the loose ends by ep 7, and there was still more plot for 3 eps?

Father. Brother. Super-Hero Agent
This is EXACTLY the kind of meal my action-loving palate craves! Every bite - I mean, every scene - hits just right, even with a few plot holes sprinkled in for seasoning. The characters, the story, the humor, the punches, the bullets… CHEF’S KISS! Kudos to the director, writers, and cast for serving up such a fun ride, especially Ji-sub as Agent Kim. What a fantastic follow-up to Mercy for None (which I also LOVED)!Kim and Min Ji have my whole heart. Their bond is genuinely lovely to watch and gives the story such a strong emotional core. And the chemistry between Kim, Han-su, and Jin Cheol? SO GOOD. Watching them interact was an absolute joy, bringing so much heart and personality to the show. Honestly, Kim and the rest of the characters balance each other out beautifully.
Overall, this show serves up action, thrills, humor, heart, and just the right amount of chaos. Is it perfect? Nope. Did I have a blast watching it? ABSOLUTELY.
A must-watch for action lovers, 100% worth your time, and you can bet I'll be rewatching... I would not mind a season 2 really.

Middle-Aged Men, Assemble!!
The story Agent Kim Reactivated is very good and highly engaging. It won't bore you at all and hooks you right from the very beginning. The story follows Agent Kim, who lives an ordinary life, but when her daughter gets kidnapped, his actual character comes to the screen.The action scenes are absolutely amazing. The raw and heavy Hand-to-Hand Combat is also incredibly good. Agent Kim's explosive action Comeback is highly impactful, and every single fight sequence has been brilliantly executed. Agent Kim's (Kim Do-hyeon) character is very smart and silent. The actors playing his companions (Choi Dae-hoon and Yoon Kyung-ho) also delivered powerful performances, and their trio looks fantastic on screen. The other actors did a great job too.
The story is strongest in the first half with the kidnapping arc. However, it stumbles a little when the heavy-handed political arc starts around Episode 7. While the story does end satisfactorily, the narrative felt stretched out towards the last couple of episodes.
Overall, Agent Kim Reactivated has a strong narrative and plays well due to it's action sequences, however feels stretched and little bloated towards the end. Although it doesn't get boring, it should have been wrapped up a little earlier to keep the screenplay tighter and more impactful. Still, a great watch!

middle-aged men in glasses ^^
It was a great series that knew exactly when to end. Elements like the deliberately fantastical fight scenes, the interspersed comedic moments, and the detail of Kim’s friends wearing the same outfits throughout the show gave it an iconic feel—as did their reputation as the "middle-aged men in glasses." The agent persona suited So Ji-sub perfectly, given his muscular physique. The villain was incredibly charismatic, and the casting was spot-on.
