As intriguing as season 1

This season will not be for everyone. Some may think that it is a filler season but that definitely wasn’t the case. It’s very much connected to the major story of the first season.

The Good

Strong plot that’s executed very well. This season still kept much of the appeal of season 1 with the introduction of new powers, high action and comedy. There was definitely more of a serious tone which I felt was a great build up to understanding the ugly bits of the outsider world. The introduction of the new characters was refreshing with their unique personalities and powers. I appreciate the writers and directors showcasing more and more interesting abilities each season. Everyone nailed their characters. I was vested in each one as they all brought something different to the overall story. Ma Xianhong was very interesting, even more interesting than the sinister pleasure with his cult leader qualities and preachy ways. He delivered great monologues and I’m interested to see more from the actor. Lastly, the soundtrack was fun!

The Bad

The obvious being the change in Zhuge Qing’s character but I will say that I was still very invested in his story and Luo Zheng pulled it off nicely. I also wish there were just as many episodes as season 1 so they could have given more depth and backstory into the new characters. We only saw a glimpse of their past.

I’d recommend this watch if you’re a fan of the overall story otherwise you may be disappointed if you’re just watching for your favorite traffic actors like Hou Minghao. I’ve seen some upset fans since he has little screen time. Although important to the story, he isn’t the main attraction.

Lost its groove

Well, I must say I was very excited for Season 2. Unfortunately it is a disappointment. There was too much explanation, hardly any funny scenes, the side characters had too much focus and it was just meh. I mean there was a looooot of talking/explanation. At least make it fun and interesting, but no. In Season 1, I was laughing from the first episode and all the characters were interesting and fun. in Season 1 they explained stuff much better. In S2, even the ML and FL seemed very toned down in their antics.
I am very disappointed. Also Bao ( FL) and ML was sidelined a lot. They seem to not be the main focus. No rewatch value for this. I will stick with Season 1.

Outsiders, assemble

I am part of the minority that like this second adaptation. The story theme of this story is tighter with only 13 episodes.

This entire adaptation revolves around Chen Duo - her origin, her upbringing, her intention, and her wants. At first, I thought it’s another character arc of a possible ally. Turns out Chen Duo’s role has greater meaning and is the necessary stepping stone to progress the story for future adaptations, if they continue with it.

This story arc also has the working together camaraderie that I feel was lacking in Season 1. The NDT Express Operatives were all one of its kind - benefitting of the arrogance and pride of a solo “Xia Ke” (martial artist / superhero). Getting them to work together needs a big enough common threat that makes them feel working together is one plus one bigger than two; and a reason that touched with their guarded cold heart because Chen Duo’s story reminded them of themselves. This is my kind of story.

The greater mystery surrounding the eight supreme skill and greater villain behind the curtain remain a mystery. The story is also getting more complex, seeming to involve worlds outside of Earth. However, for the story of Chen Duo, it got an appropriate resolution in this second season adaptation. The philosophical stance between the main villain of this season, Ma Xian Hong of wanting “equality” and the NDT Express Operatives who believed that power needs to be rightfully earned are also good food for thought.

If season 1 has the main duo, Peng Yu Chang and Wang Ying Lu, well casted, we have great addition in season 2. Vicki Chen and Yan Yi Kuan are great as Chen Duo and Yan Yi Kuan. I like the other NDT Express Operatives too.

Comparatively, season 2 is a more somber story, and thus, lack the slapstick comedy that others probably like more in season 1, given Chen Duo has a sad and pitiful origin story. In fact, season 2 feels like it can be a standalone story on its own. While we are still unsure what’s install in the upcoming season, I like how season 2 delves deeper into the motivation of why and what Outsiders are fighting for from another lens, through another character. And they possibly found allies after fighting solo for a long while.

Disappointing after I Am Nobody Season 1.

This is a completely biased review from me to you. And it's chock full of spoilers so buyer beware ⚠️
Finally got around to watching this. I Am Nobody was such an incredible series that I didn't want to watch the second season cause I just knew it wouldn't be anywhere as good as the first season. And, sadly, I was right. 😢
They took all the things that made Season 1 so brilliant and just threw them away. 🙁
Season 1 didn't take itself seriously. The story was so funny and over-the-top with so many laugh out loud moments. There were some cringe moments too (omg Zhang Chulan and his magical glowing dong the night of the bonfire celebration?)🤣
The zany goofiness of the actors and the story. The brilliant combination of wuxia and magic! Loved the fights! I still go back and watch the season 1 duel between Wang Ye and Zhuge Qing. Brilliant!💖
Oh, watching that silver-haired beauty Zhang Lingyu practicing with his headphones on? Pure poetry!❤️‍🔥🪭
The partnership and dynamics between Zhang Chulan and Feng Baobao. 🥰Their over-the-top silliness together. My gods, remember their 'fight' in the arena? The slomo? 🤣
Zhang Lingyu and Xia He. I wanted to see more of the pink and white romance! We should have seen what happens next in their story. 😍
Wanyan Luorong as Zhuge Qing and the amazing bromance with Wang Ye! Sorry, but maybe Luo Zheng is a bigger name so they thought it would better to replace him? Fuck no! The actor was completely wrong for the part. And to try and shoehorn a love interest for him? Was replacing the actor and forcing a romance with a female to keep it from being too gay? Double fuck. 🤬
It's a shame that whoever did Wang Ye's hair in season 1 didn't come back for season 2.😢 Just saying.
It seems that the writers lost focus on the storyline. Was this a story about the big bad company out to get the temp workers? Was it about stopping/killing Poison Girl? Was it about redeeming Poison Girl? Was it about Chief Ma and his kiln of doom attempting to take over the world and turn everyone into Outsiders? Who cares? It was scattered all over the place. 🤷‍♀️The story should have continued focusing on Zhang Chulan and Feng Baobao.
I missed the crazy cast of characters from season 1. How could you not have the Heavenly Master come back with his tennis shoes and ipad?👟📱
I wish we could have continued the story for season 1. What was resolved from the ending? Nothing, never mind? 😤
What about Feng Baobao and her memories and power? What about Zhang Chulan's supreme power?
They left way too much story to be told after season 1, just dropped it and ignored it and started entirely new storylines. And since season 2 ended on a cliffhanger too I imagine if there is ever a season 3 they will ignore the season 2 cliffhanger and have another entirely new story line for season 3. 😮‍💨
So anyhow, if you watched season 1 and loved it you will most likely be disappointed in the direction they took for season 2. Maybe there will be a season 1.5 released in the future to wrap up the season 1 storylines?😂

I'm left with more questions than I had after S1

Story: It's like we get into a second universe. They didn't answer the questions from s1 and opened more questions that it's just confusing.

The comedy is gold and I love these characters so much. They were really well written that it's confusing how the mess with the plot happened when you see them.

Acting: superb. All the actors are so good and completely in character all the time. Even the way Chen Jun Yan took his phone out of his pocket to check for a signal was so in character. I just loved it so much. I was just watching and smiling just because I missed these characters and the new ones are so fun to watch. It doesn't feel cringy because the actors are the character. Just the best.

The music was so good. The directing. The editing. Everything beside of the story was so good that it's a shame.

Second chapter not sequel

This season continues to introduce us to the super powers setting up for endgame battle. It is not a sequel and that has disappointed many. I enjoyed meeting the new characters and seeing their abilities. The favorites from last season made important appearances and continued the story. I did not mind that this did not center on their stories but rather about the super powers and how they impact outsiders. The yin yang conflict here was represented in each character as well as the given good vs evil. Grey areas were handled better this time and the battles reflected how inner conflicts and loyalties affect the choices made. The production staff did a good job with the battles and world building. I also really enjoyed the music. It was especially moving in the episode of Chen Duo shopping. This was a very nice buildup to a third season where I hope we will get the battle we really want to see and the explanation of Feng BaoBao.

It will be higher rated if they didn't make too much highlights on Chen Duo and other support roles. I skipped forward for some scenes. I hope they continue to make S3 with same casts as well. The main casts Zhang Chulan, Baobao, Lao Wang and i wish to see the Season 1 Zhuge Qing again tho i have no problem with Zhuge Qing from the season 2. The actor is quite handsome but truthly say, i prefer the S1 actor.

More intense fight scenes than S1.

I have completely forgotten S1 when I started watching. I just remembered them slowly as the episodes moved on. Finished the season in 2 days - as we have to work too. But this is better than S1. I feel like they were able to explain the backstory of the new characters. We still don't see romance between the main leads but there's definitely growth in their relationship. Although this is a filler story, I think it's still a must-watch if you follow the series.

hou minghao

So far I really like it. I like how ZCL has matured in this season. FBB is still amazing as usual, the other characters are interesting. The only question is Hou MingHao is said to be a Main Character, ep 8 is almost out and he appeared on screen maybe twice for about 5 minutes total? I also wish thery didn't switch the actor for ZGT. I also wish there were more episodes. IF you're only doing 13 episodes, why not just make it into a movie?? The episodes seems shorter than season 1 as well......

The Comic Relief that You Never Knew You Needed!

Somethings never change, especially the quirkiness of the Outsider world!

The second season of Youku’s uber popular adaptation “I Am Nobody: The Showdown Between Yin & Yang” was albeit short. Quite a few dominant names from Season One returned with an uncharacteristic actor change. The sequel was as fast paced as the prequel, evidently playing into the emotions and team work of the so-called temporary workers (or elite assassin forces) of NDT Express. What happens when one of them murders her superior and goes on the run? The others have to face severe repercussions or catch their own to save their skin. Chen Duo, the special operative remains at the centerfold as we introduced to the new antagonist, Ma Xian Hong, who might not be a villain at all. Zhang Chulan is as cunning as ever, being adept at manipulating people; but this time, he spends his time judging allies and forging ties, so they could help him safeguard Feng Baobao. Though short, the show lives upto its reputation and delivers a fast paced, comic thriller that will keep you on your toes!

A bit disappointing

At first I didn't even believe that this show will go for season 2, but I was happy because I like this type o f shows. Tho, there is one thing that I can't go over because I hate when it happen and that is change of good looking characters with less attractive ones. Maybe this is a bit shallow of me but no one can say that Luo Zheng is better looking than Wanyan Luo Rong, that is just not right. So, because of change of actors I will not continue watching this, I will just rewatch season 1.
