Pretty Boring Storyline

I guess I am duped by MDL rating once again. As much as I liked Bai Lu as an actress, i am just not getting the vibe of the story here. I don’t feel the connection between FL and ML, the plot is pretty straightforward and the characters are just too plain. I wouldve overlooked the lack of chemistry between the ML and FL had the plot been interesting enough to keep me watching, but yeah, 3 cases through and they failed to convince me to stay on and waste my time.

The mainleads’ childhood encounter is also too tropey that I roll my eyes everytime they do the flashbacks. I fast-forwarded many scenes of those flashbacks too cuz they keep showing the same one and it gets annoying as the show goes on. I also thought this Li Peiyi character just tried too hard to look tough and brilliant when she keeps getting set up for every cases she investigates, the vibe just failed to come through. As for Xiao Huaijin, oh well the character development is too slow I just lost interest. Yeah he’s brilliantly perceptive. Both main characters are the same - they are supposedly quickwitted and intelligent with the only difference being the FL is the tough guy while ML is the weak counterpart who relies on his brain more than brawn, but that’s just about it. There wasnt any surprises to hook me on. Even the main mystery of Peiyi’s family massacre isnt enough to keep me on. It’s funny there actually wasnt many parts of the story that annoys me enough to drop this, but instead the lack of plot growth that made me lose interest.

It’s basically a story of a lady officer investigator of Palace Investigation Bureau (they investigate cases that happen in the palace) who is also a princess, running around doing her job while getting set up and led elsewhere by somebody big behind the scene, along with her trusted follower and a reluctant dept of astronomy vice director who is torn between avoiding her due to their past (that Peiyi had already forgotten, yeah the usual amnesia trope) and helping her with every case cuz she keeps getting in trouble and get endangered for them. The plot is too monotonous for my liking, failed to grab my attention, so I’ll just go ahead and drop this to avoid further waste of time.

Possibly the best drama featuring a strong female main character

First of all, this drama has been addictive from the very start. Even though I’ve only watched four episodes, I can already tell how high-quality it is. The story, the cinematography, the acting — everything is impressive.

The drama is also fast-paced, so there hasn’t been a boring moment so far. And we can’t forget the main character, Li Pei Yi, played by Bai Lu. In my opinion, she is carrying the whole drama. Her charisma is everything — she’s smart, powerful, and fearless.

I love when female characters actually look and act strong instead of just saying they are strong. I’ve really missed Bai Lu in these types of roles, because no one plays a powerful female character better than her. I’m glad she’s back.

Wang Xing Yue is also amazing in this drama, and if you’re familiar with Bai Lu or Wang Xing Yue, you’ll know how strong their chemistry is. He was always Bai Lu’s second lead before, but now it’s finally his time to shine as the main lead. Hopefully, he gets Bai Lu this time.

Infuriating, rage bait nonsense not suitable for any audience let alone western sensibilities

If you are looking for a logical, tightly-plotted Tang Dynasty detective thriller, keep walking. Unveil: Jadewind manages to completely insult the viewer’s intelligence within the first eighty minutes of its runtime, relying on artificial frustration rather than competent storytelling.
The production budget is clearly on screen. The cinematography is moody, the costumes look expensive and the lighting effectively channels that "Tang Dynasty Gothic" aesthetic. If you mute the television and just look at the pretty pictures of Bai Lu and Wang Xingyue, it is a visually polished show.
However, the writing is absolute garbage, driven entirely by a double-standard logic that breaks the universe immediately. Episode 1 introduces a Female Lead who is supposed to be a martial-arts-elite palace investigator. Yet, when a government official tries to openly assassinate her, she refuses to take a kill shot, leaving her looking utterly passive and weak. Apparently, the script wants us to believe she is bound by rigid legal bureaucracy, while the villain is allowed to commit open treason in broad daylight with zero consequences. Episode 2 doubles down on the nonsense during the princess's murder investigation. We are introduced to the Right Chancellor's daughter—a toxic, unhinged bully who treats everyone around her like a human trampoline. Instead of being punished by the literal Royal Family, the Princess gives her a "gentle dressing down" because the writers want us to accept the absurd trope that a Chancellor holds more power than the Emperor himself.
This drama doesn't build tension; it just builds rage. The script is structurally engineered to keep you infuriated at the constant, unpunished injustice handed to decent people, expecting you to stick around for dozens of episodes for a payoff that isn't worth the psychological torture. Netflix have packaged this up based purely on star power metrics, but no amount of high-budget cinematography can save a show built on such a deeply flawed foundation. Save your sanity and drop it now.

Investigations in the palace that failed to captivate

Yes, the cast is appealing! Yes, the cinematography is beautiful. But it stops there.
The FL (Bai Lu) lost all her family in one night and because of that doesn’t feel anymore. Yet, we see her compassionate with her assistant and falling in love (or more deep in friendship) with the ML (Wang Xing Yue), which makes the way she plays her character very robotic and doesn’t make sense. And the whole drama is like her character … it lacks development and logic.
We see an emperor not caring for his own child, but for her. Sympathizing for her but not for his concubine, etc.
The writers made the investigations complicated but at the end they lack of depth and again don’t make sense. People kill out of friendship, misunderstanding or naivety. Then, the perpetrators confess out of nowhere but aren’t condemned, except there is no fine line between their crimes and their motives, there is no moral conflict for the investigators .. yet the writers decided to deliver murderers with stories carry on for 3/4 episodes that at the end fall short … again lack of character development, depth and emotions aren’t logic which makes the whole story not plausible.

Then we have the FL & ML. And unfortunately, like a lot of time on MDL, people chose to give ratings based on their faves and not the drama itself. Truth is that Bai Lu and Wang Xing Yue are very good actors, but probably because of the script, they lack chemistry here. Their story isn’t credible at all, nor their fondness for each other. Of course, the writers added some bond since childhood which fortunately explained a bit more why the ML would be fond of her.

In brief, this drama is a fail and wasn’t worth the hype at all. They wanted to mix a lot of genre at once, thriller, crime, investigations, romance, palace…. And ended giving us a lot of chaotic short stories that fell short. I understand why some wished for a romance in this drama, cause at least it would have taken our focus off all the faults in this drama

Impecável

Que drama maravilhoso! Te prende do começo ao fim. Não sei se é porque eu amo histórias envolventes, cheias de mistério e investigação, mas esse realmente me cativou. Não ficou nenhuma ponta solta, e eu me pegava o tempo todo suspeitando de todo mundo e querendo investigar junto com os protas. Muito bom!!

A vingança acompanha o drama praticamente inteiro, mas não é algo cansativo. Pelo contrário, a cada caso vamos recebendo mais uma peça do quebra cabeça, até tudo se encaixar. Isso é MUITO legal.

O romance entre os protas é sutil e leve. Não é o foco principal, mas é muito gostoso de assistir a forma como eles trabalham juntos e acabam se apaixonando. Achei bem fofo.

E a protagonista? SURREAL de linda! Forte, firme, luta muito e entrega tudo TUDO!

Vale muito a pena assistir. Não é cansativo, a história flui bem e você se envolve em cada caso. Em alguns momentos até emociona, porque mostra situações muito cruéis. Acho que também traz, nas entrelinhas, uma crítica sobre o quanto mulheres sofrem (em diferentes sociedades e tempos) e como muitas vezes precisamos ser fortes mesmo em meio ao caos.

Achei incrível o final, mostrando as pessoas ao longo dos casos tendo seus momentos felizes. Aqueceu muito meu coração!!!!

E aquele finalzinho que deixa um gostinho de segunda temporada… Não acho que precise, mas se vier com mais investigações e um pouco mais de romance, eu vou gostar também!

La verdadera justicia no siempre llega acompañada del cumplimiento de las leyes

Esta es una historia muy interesante pero también muy díficil, al ver todos los casos y el sufrimiento de las víctimas, porque lamentablemente a muchas de ellas no les llega justicia, son maltratados y asesinados por personas de poder y sus crímenes quedan impunes, es muy triste porque son personas humildes, especialmente mujeres, que al ver que nadie los ayuda, de alguna manera buscan justicia por mano propia; y es ahí donde entra Peiyi, nuestra protagonista, que también sufrió una tragedia donde perdió a toda su familia y en la que acusaron injustamente a su padre, ella busca encontrar la verdad y vengar a los suyos, mientras ayuda a otras víctimas, y aunque hace su mayor esfuerzo, poco a poco se da cuenta que las personas en el poder no les importa realmente que los crimenes sean castigados, siempre y cuando los de su estatus sean los causantes.

Peiyi es una mujer muy fuerte y tenaz, que no le importa ponerse en riesgo miles de veces con tal de lograr sus objetivos y a veces por esto mismo llega a cometer muchos errores, también suele encerrarse en sí misma porque no quiere dañar a las personas de su alrededor, y piensa que todo lo puede lograr sola; aquí es donde llega Xiao, un chico sereno, tácito, muy ingenioso y dulce, que poco a poco lograr tener una conexión con ella y la entiende mejor que nadie, el tiene el equilibrio perfecto entre dejarla ser libre, no entrometerse en su camino y apoyarla cuando lo necesite, no es fuerte físicamente, pero es un genio y siempre le ayuda a resolver los casos, y cuando ella siente que está perdiendo el control, le recuerda la gran mujer que es, es muy linda su relación, porque aunque es lenta, se ve como evoluciona y como la confianza entre ellos va aumentando a pesar de los obstáculos, es un amor muy sano y reconfortante.

También adore a todo su grupito, Wurren la asistente extraordinaria de Peiyi, una chica un poco traviesa pero muy dulce que siempre estaba para ayudar a su jefa y darle mucho amor, Gu, otro gran compañero leal y que me gustó mucho como terminaron ambos 🤭 el maestro de Peiyi que aunque mantenían discutiendo y haciéndose travesuras mutuamente, le dio la mejor educación y la quería como si fuera su hija, al igual que la dama Consorte Shu, esta mujer la amaba como si fuera su propia hija, tanto así que no le importaba enfrentar la ira del emperador con tal de interceder por ella 🥹 y la doctora Yudi, que aunque apareció en los últimos capítulos, también era una mujer extraordinaria en su campo y quien ayudo al equipo en varios de sus casos.

Una de las cosas que más me gustaron de esta historia, es que a pesar de ver tantas injusticias en contra de las mujeres, también pudimos observar el sentido de sororidad que tenían, como se apoyaban mutuamente, el empoderamiento que tenían a pesar de las adversidades y como salieron adelante a pesar de todo; frente a esto, siento que manejaron muy bien el empoderamiento femenino.

Ame que Peiyi al final demostró que es una diosa guerrera y pudo hacer justicia y acabar con todas las de la ley con el desgraciado que masacró a su familia, es increíble 😎 A pesar de que muchos inocentes murieron injustamente y Peiyi sentía que no lograba ayudar a nadie; realmente si lo hizo, muchas personas aunque con dolor, pudieron seguir adelante gracias a su ayuda, fue muy bonito verlos teniendo una vida tranquila después de tanto sufrimiento 🥹 y lo mejor de todo, Wurren ya tuvo más confianza en sí misma y se convirtió en una gran líder, al igual que su amiga y ahora está junto a Gu, los dos son super lindos 🥰🥰 Peiyi por fin dejó a un lado todas sus preocupaciones y vivio feliz y libre al lado de Xiao, que era el amor de su vida y quien la apoyo en todo momento. Solo hubo dos cosas que no me gustaron, que el emperador que fue el principal culpable de todas las desgracias, quedara sin pena ni gloria, pero evidentemente era muy díficil que con todo el poder que tenía sucediera, pero al menos Peiyi tuvo la satisfacción de decirle sus verdades a la cara 😎 y lo otro que odie fue esa escena extra después del ending ¡¿En verdad era necesario arruinar mi final feliz?! Quede preocupada 😰

Pero en general fue una gran historia, los casos eran interesantes y los personajes complejos y con quienes podías empatizar, incluso llega a ser una crítica hacia la sociedad y la impunidad que se viven en los círculos de poder. Definitivamente me fascinó y me encantaría verla nuevamente, la súper recomiendo, y bueno, no puedo olvidar de los fantásticos que eran el opening y el ending, nos contaban la historia de una gran manera, sin la necesidad de dar spoilers directos 🤗

Nem todo drama precisa de um grande casal

Unveil: Jadewind tem um desafio curioso logo de saída: reunir dois intérpretes talentosos como Bai Lu e Xing Yue e, ainda assim, produzir uma dinâmica romântica que nunca parece realmente florescer. A ausência de química existe, mas curiosamente não chega a comprometer a experiência. Talvez porque a responsabilidade não esteja nos atores, mas na própria construção dos personagens, que parecem caminhar em órbitas emocionais distintas. E, considerando que o romance nunca foi o principal atrativo da narrativa, essa limitação acaba se tornando muito mais uma observação do que um problema efetivo. Bai Lu, como de costume, demonstra uma versatilidade cênica rara, sustentando a personagem com naturalidade e recursos interpretativos que poucas atrizes de sua geração possuem.

O verdadeiro coração do drama está em outro lugar. A série encontra força no componente investigativo, nos mistérios e na forma inteligente com que os roteiristas organizam crimes, pistas e revelações. Há uma sensação constante de que a narrativa respeita a inteligência do espectador, evitando soluções preguiçosas e conduzindo suas tramas com segurança. Não é o tipo de obra que provoca obsessão ou que exige maratonas compulsivas. Pelo contrário, parece funcionar melhor em doses controladas, permitindo que cada caso e cada revelação sejam apreciados sem pressa. E talvez esteja aí sua maior virtude. Não é um drama arrebatador nem transformador, mas é um drama competente, bem construído e satisfatório. Quando termina, a sensação não é de encantamento absoluto, mas de contentamento genuíno pelo que foi entregue.

Unveil: Jadewind

Ultimamente tenho gostado de assistir cdramas de época que têm como temática principal a investigação de crimes. Comecei esse sem tantas expectativas e sabendo que provavelmente não desenvolveriam tanto o romance da trama.

Um dos maiores acertos é a protagonista forte e astuta. Ela é movida por desejos de se vingar contra quem fez mal à sua família e também contra as injustiças. O protagonista masculino tem aquele mesmo arquétipo que a maioria dos protagonistas masculinos de drama de época tem, um homem sério e com um ar misterioso, previsível, mas ele tem seus encantos. Gostei do romance dos dois. Enquanto o enredo principal avança pelos casos, o relacionamento avança pelos silêncios e gestos. Todas as cenas deles eram bem construídas e com muita química entre os dois, eu não esperava isso então foi uma boa surpresa! Sobre o que eu esperava, posso dizer que me decepcionei um pouquinho: o resto da história é envolvente mas senti que não alcançou todo o potencial que tinha para alcançar. Muitos personagens ficaram sem um bom desenvolvimento, muitos acontecimentos da reta final para mim foram contraditórios, a vingança não foi tão bem executada e nem sempre gostei de todos os casos, na verdade me senti um pouco confusa porque eram muitas coisas ao mesmo tempo. Tinha o paralelo dos casos a serem resolvidos e do próprio passado da protagonista sendo desvendado ao mesmo tempo. Não sei se souberam conduzir bem a história. Mesmo assim não foi uma perda de tempo, gostei de acompanhar. Só não me marcou.

Hikayede Bai Lu nun büyük başarısı olduğu yadsınamaz hele ki güçlü senaryolar da yine güçlü erkek aktörler ile özellikle kimyaları uyan aktörler le devam ederse ortaya görsel bir şölen çıkacaktır

dizinin jeneriği ve müziklerini oldukça beğendim ve hikayeden kopuk değildi jeneriğe bakarak dizi anlaşılabilirdi

Bai Lu için ilerleyen zamanda kaçırmış olabileceğimiz anektodlar için tekrar seyredilebilir bir diziyi beğenip sonunu da gördükten sonra ve ve bu sonu da unutmuyorsan seyretmesi biraz zor oluyor

bu tarz kostüm dramalarında her zamanki gibi çok hazırlık yapmak gerekiyor yine güzel ders niteliğinde özlü sözler vardı kostümler Tang hanedanlığını vurguluyordu ve tabi ki astroloji Çin tarihinde önemli bir yere sahip olduğunu biliyoruz ve bu yine Tang Hanedanlığı dönemine denk geliyor her zamanki gibi çok fazla emek ve zaman harcanmış bir dizi hikayeler arasında kopukluk olmasın diye de çok fazla özenilmiş yapımda ve yayında eneği geçen herkese teşekkür ederiz.

Un buen drama, pero no un drama feliz.

Desde los primeros episodios tuve claras dos cosas: La justicia es difícil de alcanzar. La justicia es imposible para los oprimidos.
Peiyi es muy valiente, es fuerte y determinada, también tiene una brújula moral muy bien definida. No soporta la injusticia y siente la necesidad de ayudar a los desfavorecidos más allá de su propia salud. Es capaz de hacer cualquier cosa por encontrar la verdad, y hara todo lo que esté en su poder para traer justicia y paz a quién lo necesita...
Pero ella misma sufrió una injusticia, por 15 años no tuvo respuestas, por 15 años soportó sola. Ni los que podían aliviar su carga quisieron explicarle.
Todos esperaban simplemente que soltara y dejara ir, que ignorara la justicia de su propio caso... mientras buscaba justicia para los demás.
Pero la trama una y otra vez le demostraba que la justicia solo funciona para ti si tienes dinero, si tienes poder, si tienes títulos nobiliarios, y si eres hombre.
A las mujeres solo les queda la venganza.
Las sirvientas abusadas solo pudieron usar sus propios cuerpos para vengarse.
La princesa y la médica solo pudieron abrir camino para las demás, usando sus propias muertes como un mensaje, porque su vida ya no tenía más futuro y su pasado tenía demasiado dolor.
La música tuvo que soportar que el culpable de la muerte de su amiga era el mismísimo Emperador y su lujuria.
Incluso Peiyi tuvo que acceder a métodos engañosos para poder terminar su venganza.
Y eso es todo.
Al final simplemente todo terminó.
Cansada simplemente se fué con su amorcito, a ser libres lejos de los nobles.

Creo que la historia es muy buena, muy reflexiva, muy feminista, pero también muy realista.
Porque todavía no hay justicia en este mundo.
