Should've stayed a one season show

You're telling me that 456 went back into the game to stop the games forever and bring down the VIPs/the institution and ended up reduced to a babysitter who lost his life at the end and accomplished nothing?? 🤬🤬

And Junho spent two full seasons looking for the island, only to find it 30 minutes before it's about to blow, proceeds to shoot a few screens/windows, finally confronts his brother again after three years and asks him "WHY?" and then swims back out before the island blows up?? What did he accomplish?? 🤬🤬

This season was horrible. If they were planning NOT to end the show at S1, they should've let 456 & Junho bring down the Front Man, the VIPs and end the games. What a disappointing conclusion to an otherwise good show.

A much better ending would've been Gihun (456) visiting his daughter after bringing an end to the games in Korea. After spending some quality time with his girl, on the way back to the airport he sees Cate Blanchett's character playing ddakji in the alleyway and he realises that the game has now gone global. Maybe it could've left the ending open to interpretation where he would try to stop the American games??

I'm just pissed. 456 was my favourite character from S1. He deserved to get his revenge on this horrible institution after everything he went through and everyone he lost. I knew he would end up sacrificing his life for the baby. I know it was noble of him to do but it was gut wrenching to see.

I also wanted to give a shout out to Hyunju (120) who was the other player that I really loved. The fact that she had all three keys and could've saved herself but went back for Junhee (222), the baby and Geumja (149) absolutely broke me because I knew in that moment that she had just sealed her fate and would die in that very game. What a contrast to how that piece of shit grandpa (100) was when he used to sharman to get through the exit and then closed the door on her. It breaks my heart that Junhee's baby will grow up not knowing how many people loved her and sacrificed their lives in order to protect her through this barbaric games😭💔

Finally, lets talk about the villians: 100, the piece of shit grandpa who annoyed me in every scene literally the moment he opened his damn mouth. He was such a horrible person from start to finish. Always suggesting things to do to progress the game, bullying people to do things his way, but being a coward where it counted. I wanted to see a more horrific death for him because of out everyone he deserved it. Namgyu (124) I really hated the way that he bullied Minsu from the start and how he killed Semi. Side note: Minsu reaching out for Semi's hand as he fell to his death in Sky Squid Game broke me. And finally, probably the only other contestant who was a bigger piece of shit than 100, was Myunggi (333). Like I kept waiting for this guy's redemption arc from his introduction in S2. But Junhee was smart not to trust him. I thought he was going to redeem himself and then he killed my Hyunju and it was all down hill from there. I can't believe that Gihun a stranger to his baby, cared more about his child than he did. It was disgusting that he was planning to kill the baby in the final game.

Overall, I dont think I'll ever rewatch this show now that its ended. I would've prefered an alternate ending where 456 and the baby both made it out alive. The games could've continued in America since The US are making their own squid game series but it could've been brought down in Korea with the help of 456 and Junho. What a disappointing ending. I'll forever be angry about this. 456 deserved better and we, the fans deserved a better ending.

would it kill you to give a little hope to the world

this was... something lol where do i even start? Firstly, the acting is genuinely incredible, almost any role in Squid Game requires intense emotions and everyone did so well, especially Im Si Wan in the last few episodes. But the VIPs RUIN EVERY SCENE THEY'RE IN like it CANNOT be that hard to do it right. The English is straight from a textbook, everyone's soulless, and the characters were fucking weird, like misogyny is not a personality trait and it's not funny.

moving on, everyone has criticized the plot so much i have nothing more to add except GO THROUGH THE DAMN DOOR, like WHY are you standing around for half a minute oohing and ahhing at the exit or with your back turned in the middle of a fucking death game. like duh you're going to get killed! and kill smarter, not harder, like really Myung-gi, did we have to push everyone off? i know it's supposed to be greed or whatever but that was so idiotic it was out of character.

speaking of characters, the whole Minsu "doing drugs to escape your trauma is also bad, don't do drugs kids!" arc was more compelling than like half of the main characters' arcs. Hyun-ju's and the mom and son duo were the best. I have absolutely no idea what Dae-ho's purpose as a character was??? Jun-hee I was ambivalent about at that point because it was obvious she was gone. Myung-gi became cartoon villain levels of evil, like fine you want to be the sole winner but Gi-hun was literally willing to sacrifice himself, why would you turn that down? I thought the implication throughout the season was that he did care about Jun-hee and the baby, to some degree, but no i guess he's fine with killing his own child now?? Gi-hun is a whole thing, like really? I know it's the reality and bad things happen but there were so many ways to avoid getting to that point. Even if the winner was a baby, which is probably not what they were looking for when they started the game, the game was still completed, so to me nothing was really accomplished? I was waiting for Gi-hun's "fuck you" moment but it felt like he was just defeated in the end. I guess he's supposed to show the good of humanity but he also hunted down Daeho and strangled him a few episodes back so...

Junho really did all that (nothing actually) just to scream 5 lines and get a cryptic stare from his brother...Junho if you know what that was supposed to mean please tell me I have 0 clue. At least a few people got some form of happiness but like nothing was resolved? They're still out there in LA (PLEASE don't do squid game LA i'm begging) and it's still happening, so idk what I'm supposed to take away from all this honestly. Overall, I get that the world sucks, trust me I'm well aware, but even if the games still continued, I feel like there should've been a moment where it felt like the good of humanity shone through. I guess Gi-hun's death was supposed to be that but it didn't hit for me. In conclusion, Squid Game is kinda wack lmao, might as well watch for the conclusion but it's not all that satisfying.

also the baby took me out everytime it appeared. and it also would've died within like a day because no one did anything except hold it, which is not how babies work LMAO

I Was NOT Ready for This Ending — My Heart Is Gone.

It’s crazy how everything ended. I swear, I am very, very, very, very, very, very surprised. I honestly wasn’t expecting this type of ending. It hit like a truck.

Let’s start with Player 456 — he was given a horrible option by Player 001, who we now know is the Front Man. He told 456 to eliminate everyone while they were sleeping. Just imagine. But Player 456 couldn’t do it. The trauma had already broken him. He was tired — so tired of seeing people die, of watching blood every second.
And honestly, if it were you, wouldn’t you be tired too?

Then there’s Player 120... Oh my God. That was the most painful part for me. She was only trying to help, to protect the others — and she got killed. She didn’t deserve that. Her death hurt me deeply. She was brave. She was strong. But in this game, even the strongest fall.

Player 388… that guy? That guy was a whole snake. I don’t even know what to say about him — I’m just speechless.

And then Player 222. She had a swollen leg, and she knew it would affect her performance in the next game. Even if she played, she was going to fail. So what did she do? She ended it herself. She committed suicide. That moment tore me apart. She didn’t even get a real chance to fight. It just hurt.

Now let’s talk about Player 007 and his mother — Player 149. That scene? It was another level. She had to kill her own son because he was trying to kill Player 222’s baby. Like what? What kind of madness is that? I couldn’t even process it.

And Player 333 — he was actually the one who got Player 222 pregnant. Then he tried to take the baby from Player 456 just so he could grab the prize money and escape. He didn’t make it though — he died. All that scheming and pain, and it still ended in death.

In the end, almost everyone died. The only ones who survived were:

The Front Man (Player 001)

Pink Guard 011

And one other guy (I forgot his number but he survived too)

But what really, really broke me was the death of Player 456. After everything, he still died. And then Player 001 (the Front Man) went to look for him. That scene? That was the most touching part of the game. It ended with tragedy and silence.

This wasn’t just a show — it was a whole emotional breakdown. The ending was so dark, so painful, and so unexpected. I don’t even know how to explain it.

Just one word:
TRAGIC.

Hyped up with all sorts of theories but they chose to dug their own grave

After Squid Game season 2 ended I was genuinely excited to know what will happened and I waited for 6 months just for this disaster.Personally,I am not a harsh person when it comes to ratings on shows but this show got me so anticipated since the first season aired but the ending from season 3 genuinely made me angry—they did all that so they could continue with a ‘Squid Game America’ type of shit. The fans built up all of the conspiracy and I was doing my own predictions too.Guess Gi-hun’s plot armour really ran out that it could not stop the director. My first issue with it is all the amazingly built up character’s deaths,120;Hyun-ju who was a trans-woman and a former top soldier but guess who she died to?A fuckass bitcoin youtuber.Sounds straight out of fiction like that YouTuber has some sleeper build.Player 149;Yong Sik’s mother has got to be the most disappointing death. She killed her son to stop him from killing 222 and the baby oh and guess what she fucking kills herself. She could have spent the rest of her time to protect 222’s baby, she traded her son’s life for the baby and then she just kills herself? This woman is a survivor of wars and yet she died such a useless death, you know what she could have done?Make her son stab her then distract her son with her death to save 222 and her baby.In this way we could have seen 007,her son’s reaction to her death and he would have been a good character.Dae Ho’s death was so stupid and unnecessary but at the same time I understood why gihun blamed him,dae ho could have lived if he had cleared the misunderstanding and gihun reacted more composed.Dae ho could have helped gihun protect the baby but it was so wasted.Myung gi,A star that fell,a star that would do anything to go back into the sky.Now I don’t have any biases in this season but I genuinely wanted to see myung gi win for the baby but there was no point anyway since they had to choose between them (456 & 333) or the baby.I would have loved to see myung gi actually abandon the baby and gi hun to win as of 222’s attitude to him when he tried protecting her all along.Ngl he would have been a cool front man.I find his death stupid and funny how gi hun’s shirt ripped.Gi hun—this man has a heart of empathy that even I don’t think I can reach that level. He went through in and out of hell and would do it again to save hundreds of others but when the greed of the money-hungry people grew more and more I think he lost more and more hope and faith in humanity.Gihun’s last words made me think that at that point he has completely fallen into despair and lost all faith in humanity which would have been interesting if he became the next front man.Hwang jun ho’s stupidity really is most of the cause to be honest. What do you even mean a random ass captain found you from an island in nowhere and you just blindly trusted him as a detective?Min su’s death was obvious but the way he turned from a scaredy cat to some mad man hooked on pills with schizophrenia was not what I really expected an outcome for him. This show really showed humanity’s intense greed for a better life and the less and lesser empathy in society. Now Netflix gonna fuck up the whole image with their ‘American Squid Game’

Anyway I wish the baby had died so we could have dived deeper into humanity’s loss of empathy lmao

To sum up,this season started off strong and ended with disappointment.I genuinely would have liked to see gihun developing from an empathetic kind soul to a person who has lost hope in this world, not sure if I’m into anti-hero characters but eh.Gihun did sacrifice people though so I felt like it would have been more satisfying for him to turn into a monster

HUMANS ARE...

Humans are monsters. It's as simple as that. At least, most people are. Even for their own blood, when money and their life is on the line, they'll do whatever it takes. Or at least, thats what we think. What about that small percentage? What if you sacrifice your own life for someone who hasn't even gain consciousness of the world yet? Well, Gihun did exactly that.

Honestly, I don't really know where to begin on this review. I'm just in so much shock. I sat there for a good 20 minutes just TRYING to unpack what the hell just happened. Did I wake up at 3AM to watch this? Yes. Did I cry multiple times at just 5 in the morning? Also yes!! Season 3 is the end, at least that's what it seemed. Maybe the end for the Korean games, but who knows about elsewhere.

Since I dont really know where to start, lets talk about the thing that destroyed me most, the deaths.

I'm not going to go in the order they died, but I will go for the order of the games.

Hide and Seek, basically:

Gosh, where do I begin? The biggest heartbreak? Hyeon Ju? Oh my gosh. I expected it when it didn't show behind her but Myeong Gi? Her death absolutely destroyed me. She already lost do much last season, and I expected for her comeback this season, but they barely even gave her a chance.

Other than that, Dae Ho. Honestly I was sad, but not as sad as I expected. He was getting on my nerves, although I would probably act the same way, scared. Gi Hun had it out for him, which didn't help at all, which eventually led to his demise.

Finally, Yong Sik. I don't think I wouldve cried if he died because he hadn't killed anyone, but the way he died is what got me. His own mother having to kill him because he was going after Junhee is absolutely insane. I know he was scared, but damn.

In between this and the next game, the mother, Geum Ja, must've felt so guilty that she hung herself. Was it sad? Absolutely. Did I cry? No. Why? Because it was so unexpected. I saw them bringing in the box and I was like "did another person live?" Sadly not.

In the next game, which was Jump Rope, 2 people died.

First was Nam Gyu. Nothing to say to that except: Thank God!!!

Next one.. Oh my gosh. Before we talk about that, lets talk about actually crossing. Junhee hurt her leg during Hide and Seek, therefore she trusted her baby to Gi Hun, who took the baby and made it across. As everyone is crossing, the time is only ticking. Myeong Gi tries to help her, which her reply is "What are you going to do? Carry me?" YES!!!! HE SHOULD.

Well, he didn't. He made it across, and it leaves Junhee as the only ALIVE person that hasn't made it across. Gi Hun was going to go to her, but she testified. In the end, she couldn't make it across and sacrificed herself and jumped off.

Gosh, it's already been an emotional rollercoaster and we're just on episode 4.

The next, and FINAL game. It's, well, I'm not sure what to call it. Lets just call it the shapes for now, okay?

Who dies?

First off, Min Su. I loved him a LOT in season 2, but this season, he was off. I understand he was going a little crazy but still. In the end, he died.

Then, the next shape, it turned into chaos and EVERYONE but Myeong Gi, Gi Hun, and the baby dies. Well, Myeong Gi and Gi Hun fight to the death, but don't press the button to start the match. You don't understand how much that stressed me out. In the end Myeong Gi dies from falling.

It's just Gi Hun left now, well, him and the baby. Is he going to sacrifice himself or the baby. "I promised Junhee." Therefore, as I mentioned from the beginning, some people aren't as monstrous as we think. He says his goodbyes, and falls to his death. Now, a literal fetus has won the game.

My thoughts on the ending? Absolutely horrible.. But I can't stop watching. I just HAD to know the end. Gi Hun gave it his all, and he truly didn't deserve that ending.

In MY perfect world, the winners are Gi Hun, Jun Hee (with her baby), Hyunju, Min Su, and Geum Ja. What about Myeong Gi, Yong Sik, and Dae Ho? If it's a perfect world, hopefully they'd be better people, but they sucked this season.

Either way, that ending was absolutely horrid. Did it really have to end like that? And is it 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 the end?

darker and deeper!

Season 3 shifts its focus from just survival to the system behind the games. It dives into the people funding everything, the power dynamics, and how far the corruption reaches. The change in direction is interesting and adds depth, but it might not hit the same for people who preferred the fast-paced intensity of Season 1.

Gi-hun is back, but he’s different now. He’s not playing to survive anymore. He’s more focused, colder, and clearly on a mission. It’s a good development for his character, but it also creates some distance. You don’t feel as connected to him emotionally like in earlier seasons. He feels more like a symbol than a person at times.

The games are still creative and tense, but they’ve moved away from being purely physical. This time, they play on trust, guilt, and manipulation. One of the best ones involves players having to reveal personal secrets to decide who deserves to survive. It’s heavy in a different way. There’s less gore, more psychological damage.

Pacing is one of the season’s weak points. The middle episodes slow down a lot. It focuses more on worldbuilding and side characters, which adds context but takes away from the tension. Some new characters stand out, but a few are clearly just there to die or move the plot forward. They don’t all feel fleshed out.

The production quality is still high. The sets are detailed, unsettling, and the atmosphere is strong. The music and camera work build tension in a way that feels more mature this time around.

The ending brings a major twist that will split people. Some will love how bold it is, others might feel it tries a little too hard. Personally, I think it ties the season together well and gives Gi-hun’s story a proper direction.

A Perfectly Executed Finale – Brutal, Emotional, Unforgettable

I just binged all of Squid Game Season 3 in one sitting—and what a ride! This final chapter was everything I hoped for and more. The story picks up right where Season 2 left off, plunging us straight into the chaos of a failed rebellion, betrayal, and loss. The pacing is relentless, the tension never lets up, and yet it still finds space to explore the emotional aftermath of everything Gi Hun has endured.

Lee Jung Jae delivers his most powerful performance yet. Watching Gi Hun hit rock bottom, only to be forced back into the nightmare of the Games, was heartbreaking and raw. Each game this season felt even more brutal—not just physically, but psychologically. The moral dilemmas hit hard, and the consequences of each choice left me shaken.

The return of the Frontman (In Ho) added a chilling, calculated energy to the season, and the dynamic with his brother Jun Ho raised the stakes even further. Their storyline had me on edge the whole time, especially with the ever-present question of who can really be trusted. The reveal of the traitor? Absolutely jaw-dropping.

The writing was tight, the twists hit hard, and the ending? Bittersweet perfection. It was a grim yet fitting close to a series that never shied away from exposing the darkest corners of human nature.

If you’ve followed Squid Game from the beginning, Season 3 is the brutal, emotional payoff you’ve been waiting for. A masterclass in storytelling that left me breathless.

Highly recommended.

surprising news: netflix destroys yet another series to promote a remake

this whole season feels like "buy one get one free" offer. my criticism towards previous season felt really justified after finishing this dragged-out season.
no eul, in ho and gi hun heavily carried this season. i wish we could've learned more about in ho, since he's the most complicated character in the show. also, no eul was handled pretty poorly, but it was nothing compared to all other additional characters - or should i say, cannon fodder. they literally had no purpose other than to provide cute tiktok edits or pro-life propaganda (which no one really dares to bring up).
this season's saving grace was gi hun's character development. for the first time, viewers can see him struggle with the games in the way that has never shown before. in previous seasons, he had hope for a better tomorrow. after his failed attempt at leaving the games, gi hun becomes more vulnerable and unstable. unlike others, he never loses focus on why he first joined the games, which was to support his family financially. this is beautifully shown through him keeping jun hui's baby alive, which in the end cost him his own life. the scene where other players try to kill a baby to win the games was probably one of the most fcked up scenes i've seen in a TV series in a long time, but it was also so well written that i can't complain. as a viewer you can tell this scenario was written by someone questioning the future of the humanity.
honestly, i don't see anything wrong with the ending. there's no what ifs or buts. i'm just glad that the baby and junho survived. i had no hope for other characters. season 2 and 3 point was to promote the american remake anyway. hopefully, hwang can have a nice holiday on a remote island [without the games] as he wished for.

Didn't disappoint but was expecting more!

The ending was weird but i don't particularly hate it. I would say I expected more because season 2 was boring too. Maybe they left fun in the end? NO its not predictable but not unpredictable. Open end again so another season? would I watch it? Yes but am I looking forward to it? No. Ik this is complicated but the series got me like this too.

The system eats everyone including the plot and capitalism is the main character again!

Just like humans, Netflix tend to be greedy as well.

My hopes for this were low after season 2, but it managed to disappoint me even more than I first thought.

The focus of the drama from the start was based around the despair one felt economically. It had the biting message of how a system beats someone down to the point where they would try and play with death rather than deal with debt collectors. Though that core message was still present this season, it feels buried beneath a pile of unnecessary flashy chaos and twists.

At first, it seemed like the drama was getting back on track. The early episodes here started with the tense plotting, brutal games and cunning survival instincts and gave season 1 vibes.
But personal trauma and over-the-top twists that attempted to shock but ultimately felt strangely flat were what came next. Ironically, despite the drama's strong emphasis on unpredictability, the majority of it felt painfully predictable. Though there was no emotional impact as it should have been, the games were undoubtedly more emotionally manipulative.

A few character backstories were included, but they lacked depth or were simply not compelling. I felt too much time was spent on individual characters. Unlike the predecessor , where even a small cast left a strong impact, this time it felt like they tried to spread focus across too many people and ended up saying very little about any of them. Instead of making me root for a bigger group, it made it harder to care about anyone in particular.

Addressing the elephant in the room, let’s talk about the ending (no spoilers).
You could tell they were really trying to give us something deep and meaningful like a full circle kind of moment. But that didn't work for me. In my eyes, it neither gave any proper closure to characters, not it was giving any symbolism, it was just… there. Not in a cool or mysterious way, but more like "Wait, that’s it???!!!" I checked twice to see if that was the actual ending.

I understand the intention behind the ending and the idea that in a world built on greed and survival, there are no true victors and life simply continues, indifferent and unresolved. It’s a powerful message on paper but a message only resonates when it’s fully realized in the storytelling and here, it felt more like a concept than a conclusion. It was a thoughtful idea, but one that never fully translated on screen.
For a show that’s all emotional stakes and intensity, the finale felt very anticlimactic and unfinished, like someone forgot to write the last episode.

The acting was really good throughout except the VIPs. They weren't convincing for a second.
And since it's a netflix production, everything was grand and polished. Looked like they spent all on visuals and writing was just put aside!

All in all, season 3 tried but in trying to go bigger, it somehow forgot what made season 1 hit. It's not unwatchable or outright bad but compared to the previous season. I am talking about season 1 here. I still believe this could have been better if they released season 2+3 together, like how they were supposed to be before they got a bit greedy. At this point, it feels more like Netflix is trying too hard to milk its golden goose.

Recommend only if curiosity gets you. But I wouldn't recommend it. The story ends at season 1 and that's it!

Humans are a lot of things.. most importantly, they are unpredictable

The entirety of season 3 was a big what if.
What if this character did that? Or what if they story went this way?
I guess all three seasons were that way in a sense, but we need to keep in mind that the clause of "what if" for this season held more stakes than before.

What tumbled out of the huge bundle of pressure created to live up to the hype while still delivering a good story, was somewhat of a mess.

Picking up on that very grim note they ended season 2 on, this season only gets grimmer, and it never stops. There was some sort of brutality to all the characters this time over, and I mean all of them. There's no room to debate if any of them had a reason to do all they did, because there will never be a good one. In displaying just how unpredictable, desperate and cruel humans can get, they did it, and how.

Episode by episode you watch the characters get more and more ruthless, balancing their own morals against their desires. There are heroes and villains in this story, but watching more and more you begin considering if your heroes are all that heroic.

It's.. yeah.. it's kind of depressing.

It was infuriating, sad and depressing, and these feelings only magnified after each episode. And the ending only helps to drive in that nail. It was truly one of the most unsatisfactory endings I've ever watched, but when I asked myself if any other ending would've made sense? It didn't. Didn't make me any less mad. It was such a depressing way to end something already on the decline, and the choice they made left me even more upset than I expected I would be.

I will say, the characters were written very well. The story may have been slightly unsatisfactory (a sentiment it shares with season 1), but the characters were amazing. The new set of characters, I somehow developed more of a connection with than the characters in the first season. I did think the characters in this arc did have more depth, even the returning characters were more fleshed out. Whether I liked all of them or not is a completely different story (see: you die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain), but they were more complex and deep than I expected them to be.

The acting, the cinematography, everything about it was amazing obviously, no doubts about that. Netflix should invest in writers though, because again, without spoiling anything, it just felt like a huge letdown after a half attempt at creating a buildup. And they did seem to be setting up for a sequel/spinoff/remake.. let's not. Let's finish the saga here.

I don't know if I like this, I'm having a huge quandary over that decision, and I genuinely do not know what the basis of my rating is, but I hope my review helped you decide whether or not you want to give this a try. If not, I'll try to sum it up in this sentence:

Imagine having a huge franchise in your hands and having written an epic ending only for it to turn out to be a joke... This third part had a clear purpose: to promote the American spin-off of these games, absolutely everything was forgotten, the most relevant characters died first, the characters, The characters I had hope in were given an absurd plot twist and the ending was so WTF... I'm just disappointed
Personally, I feel like this story should have stayed in season 1. We had an open ending with 456 alive, but at least it was more coherent than this 😭
