Didn't disappoint but was expecting more!
The ending was weird but i don't particularly hate it. I would say I expected more because season 2 was boring too. Maybe they left fun in the end? NO its not predictable but not unpredictable. Open end again so another season? would I watch it? Yes but am I looking forward to it? No. Ik this is complicated but the series got me like this too.Was this review helpful to you?

Humans are a lot of things.. most importantly, they are unpredictable
The entirety of season 3 was a big what if.What if this character did that? Or what if they story went this way?
I guess all three seasons were that way in a sense, but we need to keep in mind that the clause of "what if" for this season held more stakes than before.
What tumbled out of the huge bundle of pressure created to live up to the hype while still delivering a good story, was somewhat of a mess.
Picking up on that very grim note they ended season 2 on, this season only gets grimmer, and it never stops. There was some sort of brutality to all the characters this time over, and I mean all of them. There's no room to debate if any of them had a reason to do all they did, because there will never be a good one. In displaying just how unpredictable, desperate and cruel humans can get, they did it, and how.
Episode by episode you watch the characters get more and more ruthless, balancing their own morals against their desires. There are heroes and villains in this story, but watching more and more you begin considering if your heroes are all that heroic.
It's.. yeah.. it's kind of depressing.
It was infuriating, sad and depressing, and these feelings only magnified after each episode. And the ending only helps to drive in that nail. It was truly one of the most unsatisfactory endings I've ever watched, but when I asked myself if any other ending would've made sense? It didn't. Didn't make me any less mad. It was such a depressing way to end something already on the decline, and the choice they made left me even more upset than I expected I would be.
I will say, the characters were written very well. The story may have been slightly unsatisfactory (a sentiment it shares with season 1), but the characters were amazing. The new set of characters, I somehow developed more of a connection with than the characters in the first season. I did think the characters in this arc did have more depth, even the returning characters were more fleshed out. Whether I liked all of them or not is a completely different story (see: you die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain), but they were more complex and deep than I expected them to be.
The acting, the cinematography, everything about it was amazing obviously, no doubts about that. Netflix should invest in writers though, because again, without spoiling anything, it just felt like a huge letdown after a half attempt at creating a buildup. And they did seem to be setting up for a sequel/spinoff/remake.. let's not. Let's finish the saga here.
I don't know if I like this, I'm having a huge quandary over that decision, and I genuinely do not know what the basis of my rating is, but I hope my review helped you decide whether or not you want to give this a try. If not, I'll try to sum it up in this sentence:
It's brutal, painful and depressing, but you can see a faint light at the end of the tunnel. Kinda.

the endgame is here ?
finished 6.5/10 🌟Imagine having a huge franchise in your hands and having written an epic ending only for it to turn out to be a joke... This third part had a clear purpose: to promote the American spin-off of these games, absolutely everything was forgotten, the most relevant characters died first, the characters, The characters I had hope in were given an absurd plot twist and the ending was so WTF... I'm just disappointed
Personally, I feel like this story should have stayed in season 1. We had an open ending with 456 alive, but at least it was more coherent than this 😭

Ehh...Way overstayed it's welcome
Meh, honestly just watch season 1 once and let your Squid Game journey be over.Who decided to give the VIP's more screentime and even worse, give them lines? Didn't everyone agree the VIP crap was the worst part of the show across each season?
Korean cast did their job well, set's were elaborate and music was there.
Oh and American spinoff i guess..yayyyyyy

The system eats everyone including the plot and capitalism is the main character again!
Just like humans, Netflix tend to be greedy as well.My hopes for this were low after season 2, but it managed to disappoint me even more than I first thought.
The focus of the drama from the start was based around the despair one felt economically. It had the biting message of how a system beats someone down to the point where they would try and play with death rather than deal with debt collectors. Though that core message was still present this season, it feels buried beneath a pile of unnecessary flashy chaos and twists.
At first, it seemed like the drama was getting back on track. The early episodes here started with the tense plotting, brutal games and cunning survival instincts and gave season 1 vibes.
But personal trauma and over-the-top twists that attempted to shock but ultimately felt strangely flat were what came next. Ironically, despite the drama's strong emphasis on unpredictability, the majority of it felt painfully predictable. Though there was no emotional impact as it should have been, the games were undoubtedly more emotionally manipulative.
A few character backstories were included, but they lacked depth or were simply not compelling. I felt too much time was spent on individual characters. Unlike the predecessor , where even a small cast left a strong impact, this time it felt like they tried to spread focus across too many people and ended up saying very little about any of them. Instead of making me root for a bigger group, it made it harder to care about anyone in particular.
Addressing the elephant in the room, let’s talk about the ending (no spoilers).
You could tell they were really trying to give us something deep and meaningful like a full circle kind of moment. But that didn't work for me. In my eyes, it neither gave any proper closure to characters, not it was giving any symbolism, it was just… there. Not in a cool or mysterious way, but more like "Wait, that’s it???!!!" I checked twice to see if that was the actual ending.
I understand the intention behind the ending and the idea that in a world built on greed and survival, there are no true victors and life simply continues, indifferent and unresolved. It’s a powerful message on paper but a message only resonates when it’s fully realized in the storytelling and here, it felt more like a concept than a conclusion. It was a thoughtful idea, but one that never fully translated on screen.
For a show that’s all emotional stakes and intensity, the finale felt very anticlimactic and unfinished, like someone forgot to write the last episode.
The acting was really good throughout except the VIPs. They weren't convincing for a second.
And since it's a netflix production, everything was grand and polished. Looked like they spent all on visuals and writing was just put aside!
All in all, season 3 tried but in trying to go bigger, it somehow forgot what made season 1 hit. It's not unwatchable or outright bad but compared to the previous season. I am talking about season 1 here. I still believe this could have been better if they released season 2+3 together, like how they were supposed to be before they got a bit greedy. At this point, it feels more like Netflix is trying too hard to milk its golden goose.
Recommend only if curiosity gets you. But I wouldn't recommend it. The story ends at season 1 and that's it!

Why Unnecessary Hate?
I personally like this series very much, I know everyone was expecting that even if everyone die atleast the frontman and VIPs will suffer but it gave us really unexpected twist with it's ending. I know it hurts to see good people loosing and bad people enjoying as everyone likes karma but if you think about the actual world this is what happens mostly, weak people loosing and strong people enjoy all their life without getting any karma.I just didn't like DETECTIVE HWANG, he wasn't important to the story at all. It would have been better if he had died in season 1.
Also Park Gyu Young (Guard 011) being alive was the most unexpected thing for me considering her history in thriller dramas.

Classical Netflix...
The perfect example of Netflix making more seasons just because of the buzz. I was waiting for this third season to finally get some closure — but damn, I was surprisingly… not surprised by how bad it was. The plot is empty; it’s basically a remake of season 1 with slightly different characters and dynamics. And even that isn’t much of a change. So many things are either illogical or pointless. I just couldn’t get into it at all — and I actually love the concept, so it’s hard for me not to like it at least a little. Was this review helpful to you?

Should've stayed a one season show
You're telling me that 456 went back into the game to stop the games forever and bring down the VIPs/the institution and ended up reduced to a babysitter who lost his life at the end and accomplished nothing?? 🤬🤬And Junho spent two full seasons looking for the island, only to find it 30 minutes before it's about to blow, proceeds to shoot a few screens/windows, finally confronts his brother again after three years and asks him "WHY?" and then swims back out before the island blows up?? What did he accomplish?? 🤬🤬
This season was horrible. If they were planning NOT to end the show at S1, they should've let 456 & Junho bring down the Front Man, the VIPs and end the games. What a disappointing conclusion to an otherwise good show.
A much better ending would've been Gihun (456) visiting his daughter after bringing an end to the games in Korea. After spending some quality time with his girl, on the way back to the airport he sees Cate Blanchett's character playing ddakji in the alleyway and he realises that the game has now gone global. Maybe it could've left the ending open to interpretation where he would try to stop the American games??
I'm just pissed. 456 was my favourite character from S1. He deserved to get his revenge on this horrible institution after everything he went through and everyone he lost. I knew he would end up sacrificing his life for the baby. I know it was noble of him to do but it was gut wrenching to see.
I also wanted to give a shout out to Hyunju (120) who was the other player that I really loved. The fact that she had all three keys and could've saved herself but went back for Junhee (222), the baby and Geumja (149) absolutely broke me because I knew in that moment that she had just sealed her fate and would die in that very game. What a contrast to how that piece of shit grandpa (100) was when he used to sharman to get through the exit and then closed the door on her. It breaks my heart that Junhee's baby will grow up not knowing how many people loved her and sacrificed their lives in order to protect her through this barbaric games😭💔
Finally, lets talk about the villians: 100, the piece of shit grandpa who annoyed me in every scene literally the moment he opened his damn mouth. He was such a horrible person from start to finish. Always suggesting things to do to progress the game, bullying people to do things his way, but being a coward where it counted. I wanted to see a more horrific death for him because of out everyone he deserved it. Namgyu (124) I really hated the way that he bullied Minsu from the start and how he killed Semi. Side note: Minsu reaching out for Semi's hand as he fell to his death in Sky Squid Game broke me. And finally, probably the only other contestant who was a bigger piece of shit than 100, was Myunggi (333). Like I kept waiting for this guy's redemption arc from his introduction in S2. But Junhee was smart not to trust him. I thought he was going to redeem himself and then he killed my Hyunju and it was all down hill from there. I can't believe that Gihun a stranger to his baby, cared more about his child than he did. It was disgusting that he was planning to kill the baby in the final game.
Overall, I dont think I'll ever rewatch this show now that its ended. I would've prefered an alternate ending where 456 and the baby both made it out alive. The games could've continued in America since The US are making their own squid game series but it could've been brought down in Korea with the help of 456 and Junho. What a disappointing ending. I'll forever be angry about this. 456 deserved better and we, the fans deserved a better ending.

Acting
The acting of those people who were watching the games behind the glass… 😳🤦🏻♀️ where did they study acting??? In a forest or what? I couldn’t Watch it without emassement. The plot is quit boring, nothing new happend. And the story with that baby… sharknado is more realistic than the story of a baby who were born in 5 minutes.

Squid Game Season 3 – When a Masterpiece Becomes a Mess
There’s a reason some stories should end after one powerful season—and Squid Game is a perfect example of that. Season 1 was a cultural phenomenon. It had everything: emotional depth, brutal tension, smart writing, unforgettable characters, and meaningful social commentary. But after that? The spark was gone. Season 2 was already a step down, and Season 3 sadly just throws more garbage into the pile without offering anything fresh.Let’s be honest—Squid Game was never about just violence or flashy games. It was about desperation, humanity, survival, and hard moral choices. But in Season 3, all of that is lost. The soul of the story—the games—feels like an afterthought. The suspense is dull, the stakes don’t feel real, and worst of all, the script is empty.
Let’s talk about the main lead: Lee Jung-jae was phenomenal in Season 1. But here? His character is a shadow of what he once was. After all this buildup of revenge and planning, what do we get? A half-baked mission, no strategy, no backup plans, and no emotional punch. He has money, time, and motive—but the writing makes him look unprepared and clueless. His character deserved better, and as the audience we deserved better too.
Then there’s Wi Ha-joon—one of the key figures of Season 1. And yet, in two seasons of buildup, what has he done? Nothing memorable. He’s barely present and contributes almost nothing to the plot. If the writers had nothing meaningful for him to do, he might as well have stayed dead in Season 1. It’s painful to see such a great character wasted.
As for the new cast—they’re fine. But that’s the problem. Just fine. They do the same things the first-season cast did, but with less emotional connection. There’s no one you’re truly rooting for or afraid to lose. Everything just feels like recycled drama with no weight behind it.
Final thoughts:
Season 2&3 has one thing going for it: hype. But hype without story is hollow. Instead of giving us smarter games, deeper characters, or better stakes, it repeats the same formula without emotion. A sequel should add value. This one does not. It feels like a brand being stretched too far for views, rather than a story being told with care.
One thing I really want to mention is Season 3, Episode 2—the game in this episode is on another level. It was intense, creative, and genuinely exciting to watch. This single episode reminded me why people loved Squid Game in the first place. It stands out completely from the rest of the season and gives the audience something truly gripping. Because of this episode alone, I’m giving one extra star.
For me, Squid Game should have ended with Season 1—a masterpiece. The rest? Just unnecessary noise.

Did we need a sequel? Really?
Towards the end of the season I was genuinely hate watching it. I was so bored and some of the episodes felt so dragged out. Not only that, Season 2 and 3 should have just been one season and to be honest, did not need to exist.I felt as if a lot of the deaths were lackluster - a lot of characters did not get plots that were worthy of the actors or their characters arcs. There were also too many questions left unanswered - and I can promise you that if there is any further seasons I will not be watching so I guess I will never know.
The continuation was so bad that I stopped wondering about characters or motivations that I have previously cared for.
If you enjoyed S1 then I recommend you do not continue the series as it is only a downwards trajectory from there.

Squid Game Season 3 Review
It’s such a shame the story wasn’t wrapped up properly. We still don’t know where the game really came from, and the whole dark organ-trafficking subplot? Never explored.
At the very least, if there’s going to be an American version later, I hope the Korean version actually finishes first — so the US one can level up the game ideas and make the system more solid.
The VIPs’ dialogue was so basic 😅
They literally sounded like drunk people reacting at a random party. No menace, no mystery, just... meh.
Everyone thought Min Su was a disguised VIP
but turns out he was just a regular player. Nothing special in his backstory either, even though he survived pretty long. Strange.
No Eul fought and literally burned down a whole storage room
and no one noticed?? No alarms or anything?? For a high-security game, that’s kinda weird.
The detective spent years searching…
and when he finally found them, all he said was “Why?” — from a distance. 😭
Dude. Really?
🔻
So far, Season 3 isn’t as disturbing or intense as Season 1.
It kind of feels like they just rushed it out because Season 1 was such a big hit.
Like, "as long as it gets made, who cares?" — definitely a bit of a cash grab energy.
