What Is Going On? The Series (2025)

Okay let's do this with full honesty and no biased opinion.

I'm a huge fan of LingOrm, love everything they have been doing so far, BUT! I came here to share my thoughts and frustration.

Before I start with the positive I want to add that I just came back from writing a full 10 stars review under the series The Secret of Us for the same couple in this series. (A masterpiece that one is, you should definitely watch it).

Positive thoughts about the this series so far: Uhhmmm the only positive things I could think of are probably the fact that Ling and Orm have absolute phenomenal chemistry between them. If they keep acting together forever I would never get bored. Their visuals are insane, they're talented and lovely to see on screen. They always make me blush and feel as if I'm interrupting them when they have an intimate scene. Oh and the side characters are also sweet and fun to watch, especially the Gang (the bodyguards) they're so funny it's refreshing.
I can't believe that's the only positive thing I just wrote about the series when I was, moments ago, writing a whole paragraph about how much I loved TSOU.

NOW....after writing the positive, I want to be honest about why I'm truly here and why I'm frustrated so much after watching 6 episodes of the series (what has been aired so far). I had such high hopes for Only You because it's an original by the production company CH3 Thailand which is one of the biggest channels and production companies in Thailand and the same agency that produced TSOU One of the best GL's out there. Also, the same production team, director etc. were the ones who made this series, so as you already guessed I was so excited after watching TSOU thinking this series would be as great or better. Yet, I was so disappointed starting the first episode.
The production is so weird.
It looks a low-budget show directed by a completely different director and team (the editor was either high or bored with their job). The shots and camera angles, the color palette used to convey the theme (too bright and plain, light rings everywhere it's hard to miss, you could see them in the actors eyes lol), the FREAKING MUSIC that's on repeat (I love Ling but that song was really nice until they played it in inconvenient scenes ON REPEAT every single episode that I rolled my eyes whenever I heard it, they literally played it while Tawan and Ayla are having a love scene on bed!.....that ruined the scene for me). Other background music is meh. Sometimes they use good music suitable for the scenes and many times they don't. And don't get me started on the acting.
What the heck happened that made all the actors especially Ling and Orm act that way? I cringed so many times watching them. Their acting in this series is lacking real emotions. Facial expressions are just.....forced. No genuine movements. They're either cold or too much. Nothing feels real, as if I'm watching a low-budget YouTube show created to only entertain. Orm on the other hand is what surprised me most. She's a great young actress. I personally think she's very talented, loved her acting in the TSOU, it was flawless just like Ling's and all the side actors/actresses, but in this series? She made me cringe so hard every episode with her overreacting. Her childish behavior and facial expressions. She said in one of her interviews that Ayla is supposed to be less childish and more stubborn unlike her other character Earn but Earn in my opinion, is honestly mature and wise, that character was so good. Ayla is just cringy, too jumpy, too hyper, too loud as if there's electricity in her body that I kept pausing the series to take a impatient breath (they did mention that the characters are based on the real Ling and Orm lol but Orm's personality in real life is way better and lovely). Ling's acting here is okay, she's supposed to play the "cold" character, although I see nothing cold about her role and only see forced acting but she's fine I guess. The side actors are doing an okay job too tbh so no comment on that. And the dialogues?
As boring and bland as the color palette in the series. Nothing deep, nothing makes you emotional or feel related. Everything keeps happening so quickly I'm not able to follow. The styles used for the characters are too much or badly suited, unrealistic too (Ayla's nails are too much but too much is so common in everything in the series lol). The scenes are badly edited, camera shots are my main issue. It's like the director lost touch and wanted to just finish the scenes and be done. The romance is probably another positive thing I forgot to mention above. It's cute, makes you smiley, happy and want to see more of it. Truth be told, the story has potential, I loved the idea of a bodyguard and a superstar romance but these things aren't well executed. The production team and agency ruined everything with their bad work....and they had one job to do.

Overall, I will keep watching because I truly love LingOrm and do enjoy seeing them on screen together. However, this series sadly (I can't believe I'm writing this) doesn't deserve 10 stars. Five is even a lot but I rated it 5.5 because the series hasn't finished yet. I might come back and edit this review for the better or worse.

BTW, If you wanna watch the series, please do and don't make my review stop you. Watch it and judge it yourself. And if your thoughts and opinion match my own after you do watch at least watch 5 episodes.....come back here and let me know under my review :)

Stiff & unimaginative

I like LingOrm, both women separately have their own charm off screen.

I loved TSOU, I remember waiting every week, happily, because I knew I was going to enjoy the episode that aired.

Only You is objectively not a very good series. From the impracticality of the outfits, to the predictability of the plot (I was literally praying that it wouldn’t be another “I loved her when we were younger” plot line when I saw the trailer, but oh well, it seems to be a Thai GL must), to the horrible acting and the poor “action” scenes…. I really wanted to like this series, I was even prepared to love it, but from episode 1 I understood the vibe and knew pretty quickly that wouldn’t be the case lol.

LingOrm did an amazing acting job in TSOU, but now I’m wondering if the director gave them…bad directions for OY?? Like, did they tell LingOrm to make it seem so forced and cringe? Even if you love LingOrm to death you can’t say that it’s not terrible acting. It looks like Ling doesn’t even believe her own lines, and Orm’s character is only slightly more believable.

(Personal gripe)Don’t even get me started on the scene where Ling had to carry her—it visibly looked like she was struggling and I’m supposed to believe she was able to take down a group of guys? You would think as a director or anyone watching the footage back, that someone would say, “hey, Ling can’t really handle carrying Orm and it’s noticeable, why don’t we shorten this scene? Or only shoot from a certain angle to make it look more natural?”

Speaking of natural, there’s nothing natural about any of their dialogue, touches or line deliveries. That’s why I really wonder what their directions were…it seems as if they’re forcing themselves to be LingOrm & not Tawan & Ayla.

I honestly feel as though Ch3 is taking advantage of the fact that LO are already so successful, and not bothering to make the series what it could’ve been. I skip through most parts of the episodes, especially when the sidekick bodyguards do their “funny” banter that’s supposed to shed light on Tawan’s character. Such a bore. I’ll still finish the series for LO and I hope they’re able to get better projects…and maybe fresh characters.

Underwhelming

The plot is so underwhelming and the adplacements on scenes that are unnecessary like ordering a damn mattress. The over reacting lead about a hand is complete exaggerated and ost just kept on playing over and over. Costume design is also wicked, if you think about safety hazards when those bodyguards fight in stilettos and hoop earring.

Worth waiting for!

[Edited] Just came back here after watching EP4. The action scene is finally here and Tawan rocked it! I have been replaying that scene for more than 10 times already.

First of all, the visuals!! Oh my god.. both of them are so damn gorgeous. Secondly, their acting skill! Their eyes are full of emotion when they act. I was watching LIVE and didn’t understand Thai but I understood how much they were feeling hurt or sad through their eyes. As for plot, I love how they focus on building the characters’ romance and relationship realistically rather than forcing them to love each other within a few days. Some might say it’s slow but for me, that is REALISTIC and I can relate to it more than unnecessary forcing love story. So far, I have watched 3 episodes and every time Tawan and Ayla look at each other, I was having butterflies in my stomach. Then, I realized, “wow! LingOrm’s chemistry is no joke. They can make me feel like that even without kissing!” Lastly, OST! Omg… both Ling’s Moonlight and Orm’s Distance of The Moon are masterpieces! Moonlight sounds sweet while Distance of The Moon sounds heartbreaking. Each OST reflects their own character. Overall, for me, Only You is worth waiting for. I can’t wait for Fridays!

I’m absolutely loving this series so far! The plot is heartfelt and engaging, keeping me hooked every episode. The OST is beautiful and really enhances the emotional moments — it stays in my head long after I finish watching. The actresses have such natural chemistry that every interaction feels real and touching. Their performances bring the characters to life perfectly. A must-watch for anyone who loves a well-written romance with depth and genuine connection! 💖✨

Slow burn, strong chemistry, worth watching

It’s still pretty early with just four episodes, but I wanted to share my take since there’s been so much negativity floating around. What grabs me is the chemistry between LingOrm. It just feels natural and comfortable to watch. Ling as Tawan, playing the bodyguard, knows exactly when to be tough and when to soften up, while Orm as Ayla, the idol, lights up the screen with her fun, playful vibe. Together, they bring the story to life.

Honestly, it doesn’t even matter how their relationship is in real life. As long as that connection translates well on screen, that is all we viewers need. Eye candy and good vibes done.

This isn’t some action-packed drama, even if the roles might make you think otherwise. The story is slow-burning, building up the characters bit by bit with subtle expressions and meaningful moments. Sure, the pacing could pick up a little, but with many characters still to be introduced, it is way too soon to call the storyline weak.

It is premature to say whether the plot will be successful or not. There are so many hidden nuances and untold stories still coming in the episodes ahead.

Also, sure, the product placement is noticeable, but it never pulls you out of the story or feels too forced, which is a relief compared to other shows that go way overboard. And honestly, the brands are helping make the girls more famous, so where is the harm in “milking” that? Someone has got to pay the bills right.

All in all, I am excited to see where the story goes and how these characters grow. So far, LingOrm’s chemistry and acting are more than enough to keep me hooked.

[1 - 3] Underwhelming, excessive product placement, LO still LO, support cast the highlight so far

- The actresses are good, though it's feeling less engaging that with their last series.
- The casting is great, in my opinion the support cast has been the best out of the show so far.
- The plot has potential, but so far, not sure if because of the pacing, the directing or the writing, it's potential is not shining through

{I'm sorry for what's coming}
Dear god, the production is terrible. I'm actually surprised something created by a huge Thai Ent company looks this bad.
The mistakes are things not even beginner level.
It looks like a project you rush to do last minute just to say you turned it in.

Sad that they fumbled it like this because they really had bagged a great base storyline and actresses. Even things that fans highlighted prior it started filming were not fixed or taken into consideration.

Hopefully it gets better as more episodes are out.
And that the nonsensical product placement slows down. Product placement is ok, but at least try to make it make sense with the scene, or on the contrary do the opposite and make it clear. The approach they took so far is just... Not it for me.

Will still keep watching, it's LO after all...
And the support cast, Tawan's team specially, makes it worth it while it's their screen time.
Hoping it gets better and they shut me up.

Very bad story

I was hoping to see a good script with good acting . Actually I'm just watching it because I love lingling as a beautiful woman . But the series is very boring and the kissing scenes is not as I expected . Any way orm very bad kisser and not beautiful enough for lingling . There's no chemistry between them + the story is very bad with a lot of wholes . Harmony secret much better and denied love is better than both .

Reivew for Episode 1-3 but no spoiler included

Only You is beyond GL. It’s a general audience friendly series with great production and storyline. Furthermore, the lead actresses are really good at portraying their characters with detailed micro acting. The support characters are also developed well and put into the series flawlessly. Till Ep3, it is just building characters slowly and carefully, so there ain’t lots of twist or tempo yet. But since it has 14 episodes, there is still a long journey to go. It’s a good choice for people who like slow burn with lots of yarning. But don’t worry. There’s a lot of fluff too that can make you kick your feet in the air and giggle like a lovesick teenager. And don’t forget to prepare tissue for you too.

And for those who love steamy scenes , I don’t think this series will be your cup of tea because I’m quite sure the flow of the series is soft and it emphasizes drama and angst more.

Watching exclusively for LingOrm

Two episodes in, and I’m feeling extremely mad. CH3 what the hell is this? LingOrm deserve better.
I’m going to stick till the end because I love them but the plot is full of holes, it feels cheap, and is quite embarrassing for a big channel to even think delivering a product like this during prime time and on Netflix.
With Whale Store and Harmony Secret currently airing and ClaireBell, Girl Rules, Cranium and other GLs coming next, every production is upgrading and here we have CH3 downgrading to the max, thinking they can survive the long run without putting some effort to the plot or even the scene cut. It’s extremely embarrassing to see Orm changing hair colour from one scene to another and having “LingOrm” written all over the screen while Ayla is dancing, like c’mon?!? They are not even trying.

Fictional Vibes

It's giving fictional novel vibes Loved it and the leads are amazing duo!!!! Both the leads did a great work together. The Bold character of the lead TAWAN is giving masculine woman and Mommy vibes. And the second Alaya is pretty and cute.

HUGE FAN OF THAI GL FROM INDIA. WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH HERE!!!
