LingOrm Are Back... To Mixed Results
I'm a bit polarized with this show. On one hand, it's not as downright awful as so many people claim. On the other hand, I still think it could have been so much better.Only One had a great premise, with an up-and-coming popstar (Orm) being in love with her kickass bodyguard (Ling). It had the potential to be a great blend of action, drama, comedy, and romance. Unfortunately, it just ended up feeling like a melodrama, with WAY too much crying (especially from Orm).
LingOrm have excellent chemistry, and I would argue that it's even better here than it was in The Secret of Us. And while Ling's acting is still quite bad, Orm's acting seems to have improved a bit. I must confess that I do wish that LingOrm would be willing to film more steamy scenes. Their sexual encounters here really don't compare to those of LenaMiu on My Safe Zone.
My biggest issue with the show were their 2 dads, which unfortunately became the main plotline before the 2nd half even started. Them constantly attacking each other while trying to sabotage their daughters' relationship, despite the fact that both of them could tell how much Ayla and Tawan loved each other, quickly became very exhausting to watch. It seemed like every time one (or both) of the dads were finally starting to come around to Ayla and Tawan being together, they completely changed their minds in the very next scene.

An overall Disappointment
Just finished Only You and honestly… it was tough to get through… I’m a bit disappointed! The story had potential but the execution just wasn’t there. The pacing was off, the emotions felt flat at times, and the production quality didn’t match the hype. Some scenes looked rushed or unevenly edited, which really pulled me out of the story.
Lingling and Orm did their best. Chemistry was there — just not supported by strong direction or writing. Honestly Lingling and Orm deserve better.
The OST and visuals were nice, but they couldn’t hide the weak production.
It’s not terrible, just disappointing. Only You could’ve been something special with better writing and higher production value.

too amateurish
The series is too amateurish, the story is shallow, it's a shame. The girls are nice, but unfortunately nothing good can be done in a poor quality series. A completely useless series, which shows that it was filmed only to be turned into another GL series. Here it only relies on the fandom of girls to applaud, but anyone who watches it disinterestedly must be disappointed (personally I think that even the girls are not enthusiastic about it, after all, they would like to show their talent and not just their appearance). It's a shame, it ruins the girls' acting careers, in my opinion. Was this review helpful to you?
Sorry
I really like Lingorm, which is the main reason I started watching this series, but honestly the experience so far feels more like torture than enjoyment. The story drags on at a slow pace and doesn’t pull me in, making it hard to stay interested. The acting feels stiff and unnatural, especially during the more emotional or intimate scenes where the chemistry just doesn’t come across. I’m trying my best not to quit because I want to support Lingorm, but the lack of depth in the plot and character development makes it a struggle to keep watching. I had higher expectations, and it’s disappointing to feel so disconnected. Still, I’m holding out hope it will improve. Was this review helpful to you?
What the hell was this?
Yet another bodyguard romance which fell flat. I was very much looking forward to Lingling and Orm’s new show, as I did enjoy ‘Secret of Us’ (2024), but what the hell was this? The plot is boring, the show looks terrible, and there is seemingly only one song on the soundtrack that is just repeated in every episode. The pet peeve which I just could not let go of, was how Tawan (Lingling) was styled. She is a bodyguard yet she is in strapless tops, the biggest blazers you have ever seen and heels. It seemed like no one behind the scenes cared about this show, and just expected Lingling and Orm’s popularity to carry it. I was so dissapointed. Was this review helpful to you?

It's okey, but it could have been better
Okey, so basically the series definitely did not meet my expectations. It was not great, BUT it was also not that horrible. It was mid. It's CH3 first Original GL and either they really didn't care, didn't want to spend money or they are just bad in making Originals. It's a shame that Lingorm had to face so much criticism because of the Directing and Bad writing. The Story:
The idea Bodyguard and Singer was great, but they Storyline was at some point just to chaotic and all over the place. I was enjoying it until Episode 4, after that i got confused alot. In my opinion it was a mistake to change the main subject so often. The Start was good, we have those 2 little love birds meet and than split because of some circumstances, than they meet again and one is protecting the other from a unknown enemy. And that's what i thought would be the main plot for the series. Which made the most sense based on the Pilot and because it's about a Bodyguard protecting a Singer. But they just ended that plot after Ep.4 and started focusing on the difficult relationship between ayla and Tawan, than they mixed in the family drama, than they mixed in a second enemy who was family, suddenly tawan is working for her dad, ayla gets a kidney disease and happy end, like what? I get they wanted alot of plot twist to make it more exciting, but it was to much. The focus should have been on the unknown enemy, protecting ayla and the relationship. It should have been mixed well together so we walk in one direction with the story, instead of splitting the way and walk into 5 different plots who are not connected well.
Directing/writing:
Ney what the hell, i wish we could give stars for the Directing, cause mhhh no 👎 that was not good. The Directing was bad. I understood that her POV was that they just met again so they slowly build up their closeness but with a duo like lingorm you could have done so much better. It was just so much holding back. You can see in the behind the scenes how much more affectionate they are. The Cinematography had its good parts but also enough not so good ones. It was just underwhelming. Which was surprising since CH3 is such a big company. The dialogues...lets saye we had here and there some good ones , but there are also so many cringe ones, everything in between was neither great or bad. Even the actresses recognised how some dialogues are just a bit to cringe.
Cast/Acting:
Overall I'm okey with the cast, i think everyone fit their role perfectly. Kate and gang, the step mom did they job good. Same goes for the dad. But since they didn't have that much dialogue anyways you can't judge that much. Yes sometimes it was a bit much but that had more to do with Directing. Ling did her Job as the Cold one.Positive is that her eye acting was really good, it was like her eyes did a conversation without saying anything. For the angry tawan scenes: some scenes are good some a bit cringe and to much, which again is more fault how it was directed, but lings angry tawan sometimes felt a bit forced. For Orm she did her job as ayla Overall well, but also at some point her characters reaction also felt just a to much and forced. It was like trying to be cute while not wanting to be cute. Also her crying scenes, she had some really great ones and her dialogue on the rooftop, chef's kiss, but sometimes again, just forced, to much and cringe. It was just so much i couldn't take it seriously. Mainly the Dialogues and Directing really let them look bad cause they had just to do so many cringe scenes.
Music:
First of all, i like the 3 soundtracks. They are nice and i like to listen to them. BUT WHOEVER DECIDED TO USE LINGLINGS SONG FOR LITERALLY EVERY GOD D*MN SCENE NEEDS TO BE FIRED. What the hell was that? Using one song for literally every kind of scene was just a bad choice. Its just ruins the mood. They did it so well in the TSOU, so how come they forgot that you need fitting music for scenes to be delivered emotionally well. Music is so important in movies and series to deliver emotions and they did a exceptional great job in ruining it with using one song for everything.
Rewatch value:
If i ever get bored maybe, cause it does have some enjoyable parts in it, but i would not rewatch like 10 times in a row.

A mixed bag
I don't get all the super negative reviews I have to say, is it the best GL series I've ever watched? No definitely not but it's an enjoyable ride anyway. As a fan of LingOrm I've enjoyed their second series and thought their chemistry was great. What I will say is that whoever directed their intimacy scenes needs to let loose more, I've recently seen them in episode 5 of " A safe space" and there their chemistry is smoldering while retaining a certain playfulness. What I don't know is wether that's due to a more liberal directing approach or wether the actresses actually prefer the restraint as both are self proclaimed introverts.I actually really liked LingLing Kwong as a bodyguard and she did a good job Orm's character's bubblyness is a bit much but fitting for that particular character but I understand why it might annoy people.
Overall I thought it was an enjoyable fluff of a story with some loopholes, yes heels as bodyguards is a bit out there etc.. It's not as good as LingOrm's first work "The secret of us" but I enjoyed it nontheless and look forward to their 3rd project with hopefully less restraint during intimate moments.

LingOrm are great, but not the show
So disappointing. I think I am mirroring everyone who is a big fan of the actresses- they are so good together. Which is why it's so confusing to understand what went wrong with the show? The storyline had potential but somehow it turned out so slow and boring. The actresses who have effortless chemistry on their previous show, and even in promotions- they are just lacking that in this show. The only thing I can come up with is that something went wrong in the direction- because these actresses are undoubtedly brilliant. It's sad because LingOrm are among the best in the GL genre, and with so much competition- their potential was wasted on a subpar show.Let me be clear- it's not a terrible show, but it's just not upto their mark. I would expect this from an amateur channel, or new actresses maybe- but not Channel 3 or LingOrm. This show might have done well when there were no GLs and fans would've accepted anything- but with the quantity and quality of shows releasing- it fails. And it's such a shame because so many new shows and actresses are brilliant already- so LingOrm show should've said a higher bar. I feel like the direction failed them.
I hope the channel/ teams sees these reviews and makes shows that are upto the mark for the actresses they have hired. I will watch anything with LingOrm in it together- but they have to make better shows if they want to keep up with the competition. Frankly the best part of the show is the chemistry between Ling and her 3 employees. If only they had made the scenes between Ling and Orm feel so natural.

Not bad but not good.
Ok I'm not going to write an essay but,- Actresses were great, amazing chemistry
This was my first GL that I've completed
- Kisses were AWFUL, no emotion, their lips weren't even moving.
- The directing in the fight scenes were BAD.
- The overall aesthetic was good
Will I rewatch?
- Nope, not likely.
Should you watch?
- I mean, it's ok-ok
I feel like the only thing Orm did in this whole series is CRY!
The story is juicy but a bit dry.

The story and the acting both have serious issues!
As a neutral viewer with no bias, I have to be honest: the actors’ performances are below par. I could clearly tell they were acting—straining to force themselves into the characters. And the acting feels exactly like it did in TSOU, which means there’s been no improvement at all.The story is outdated and predictable, and the costumes/styling have issues. Aside from the actors’ looks, everything else is bad. This is a film produced in 2025, but it feels stuck 15 years in the past.
A good film needs more than just a story—it also needs strong acting. I hope they’ll improve in their next project.

It’s not that bad, and it’s definitely worth watching, even if it’s just for the actresses
I saw a lot of negative comments about this one. Honestly? I liked it. It’s not a masterpiece(with all respect), but it is good. What bothered me the most is that the last part of the story was unnecessary. It could have ended in episode 12 and would have been perfect. The problem here is exactly the same as in My Safe Zone: both had too much drama that could have easily been cut. I’m a telenovela geek — I’ve been a fan of this kind of production for as long as I can remember, and as a Latin American, I’ve watched a lot of them. I’ve seen plenty of exaggerated drama; I’m used to it. I’m trained to recognize when it’s just too much.
PS: I won't deny that I spend a lot of time, wishing the president of Bec music, to be Tawan mother, this drama would fit okay.

they’re beautiful. that’s it.
Another GL that all the pressure is on the couples to carry. I liked the action, that’s a nice change for most GLs. however, the storyline and pacing were horrible. the bodyguard outfits extremely impractical. the stupid rivalry of the fathers. all of that sucks.but what’s worse, is the acting and the love scenes. they look like they don’t even want to kiss each other. the scenes are boring. the background music when they’re intimate is stupid.
the only good thing is the fact that the couple is stunningly gorgeous. it’s not enough anymore in my opinion. they both need acting lessons and they should probably split this couple up and match them with someone they’ll have more chemistry with. even if it isn’t gl.
