Lousy series, only selling beauty of both main actresses

I love LingOrm, so I had high expectations on this series. But very disappointed after watched it, almost dropped it few times 😕. But I completed it due to LingOrm. The while series is only selling the beauty of both actresses, no meaning at all, and super dragging. Not need 14 eps, think 8eps is good enough. And I feel director not professional at all, why a bodyguard always wearing high heels? And Aylah always with super long nails with faen?? I had watched so many gl series, only LingOrm's love scenes no improved 😭 😔😞. So many kissing/love scenes in this series. But they like not dare to kiss each other, not in love, especially Ling's lips not moving at all, better just cut it off.

Omit this show from LingOrm's résumé

Understandably my lowest rated GL. I only finished this because of my love and respect for LingOrm. The lack of love and care can be seen throughout the show. I'm disappointed in CH3 for giving this to LO, thinking that their popularity will just carry it. I don't even want to get into the details of the actual show because it'll be too long. All I can say is I'm glad that's over and I hope CH3 learn from this and do better for LO next time, because this was unacceptable.

i finished the whole serie

this costume is so shock of all - Ayla and bodyguard team. the main actor bodyguard always wear high heel?? what for? if it because Tawan shorter than Ayla. So that its still wrong casting.

the whole story always change my feeling up and down every 5 mins. twist story again and again make feel not professional direction. the Love scenes are too much take time, so annoying. some scenes don't connect or make sense.

2 points that i give its for Stand alone song. this show is a piece of trash.

I came into this with expectation not low enough

I liked TSOU, so I had similar expectations. The plot sounded good, but the actual show dragged on. A lot of the plot of four episodes could be told in one episode. The beginning is a good 7.8, but now it's more of a 6.

After watching ep 13, all I gotta say is.. what the actual fuck is this plot???? I wanna like it, I really do, it takes a lot for me to actually wanna drop a show AS SOMEONE WHO WATCHED BLANK and LOVE SENIOR AND FINISHED THEM AND FOUND THEM TO BE OKAY. Whoever wrote this shit can start counting their days. I'm sure this really is not Ling and Orm's fault and happened to land on a poorly executed project since they can't really refuse the scripts they get. i just hope CH3 will do better in the future, cuz this was straight up ass

What Is Going On? The Series (2025)

Okay let's do this with full honesty and no biased opinion.

I'm a huge fan of LingOrm, love everything they have been doing so far, BUT! I came here to share my thoughts and frustration.

Before I start with the positive I want to add that I just came back from writing a full 10 stars review under the series The Secret of Us for the same couple in this series. (A masterpiece that one is, you should definitely watch it).

Positive thoughts about the this series so far: Uhhmmm the only positive things I could think of are probably the fact that Ling and Orm have absolute phenomenal chemistry between them. If they keep acting together forever I would never get bored. Their visuals are insane, they're talented and lovely to see on screen. They always make me blush and feel as if I'm interrupting them when they have an intimate scene. Oh and the side characters are also sweet and fun to watch, especially the Gang (the bodyguards) they're so funny it's refreshing.
I can't believe that's the only positive thing I just wrote about the series when I was, moments ago, writing a whole paragraph about how much I loved TSOU.

NOW....after writing the positive, I want to be honest about why I'm truly here and why I'm frustrated so much after watching 6 episodes of the series (what has been aired so far). I had such high hopes for Only You because it's an original by the production company CH3 Thailand which is one of the biggest channels and production companies in Thailand and the same agency that produced TSOU One of the best GL's out there. Also, the same production team, director etc. were the ones who made this series, so as you already guessed I was so excited after watching TSOU thinking this series would be as great or better. Yet, I was so disappointed starting the first episode.
The production is so weird.
It looks a low-budget show directed by a completely different director and team (the editor was either high or bored with their job). The shots and camera angles, the color palette used to convey the theme (too bright and plain, light rings everywhere it's hard to miss, you could see them in the actors eyes lol), the FREAKING MUSIC that's on repeat (I love Ling but that song was really nice until they played it in inconvenient scenes ON REPEAT every single episode that I rolled my eyes whenever I heard it, they literally played it while Tawan and Ayla are having a love scene on bed!.....that ruined the scene for me). Other background music is meh. Sometimes they use good music suitable for the scenes and many times they don't. And don't get me started on the acting.
What the heck happened that made all the actors especially Ling and Orm act that way? I cringed so many times watching them. Their acting in this series is lacking real emotions. Facial expressions are just.....forced. No genuine movements. They're either cold or too much. Nothing feels real, as if I'm watching a low-budget YouTube show created to only entertain. Orm on the other hand is what surprised me most. She's a great young actress. I personally think she's very talented, loved her acting in the TSOU, it was flawless just like Ling's and all the side actors/actresses, but in this series? She made me cringe so hard every episode with her overreacting. Her childish behavior and facial expressions. She said in one of her interviews that Ayla is supposed to be less childish and more stubborn unlike her other character Earn but Earn in my opinion, is honestly mature and wise, that character was so good. Ayla is just cringy, too jumpy, too hyper, too loud as if there's electricity in her body that I kept pausing the series to take a impatient breath (they did mention that the characters are based on the real Ling and Orm lol but Orm's personality in real life is way better and lovely). Ling's acting here is okay, she's supposed to play the "cold" character, although I see nothing cold about her role and only see forced acting but she's fine I guess. The side actors are doing an okay job too tbh so no comment on that. And the dialogues?
As boring and bland as the color palette in the series. Nothing deep, nothing makes you emotional or feel related. Everything keeps happening so quickly I'm not able to follow. The styles used for the characters are too much or badly suited, unrealistic too (Ayla's nails are too much but too much is so common in everything in the series lol). The scenes are badly edited, camera shots are my main issue. It's like the director lost touch and wanted to just finish the scenes and be done. The romance is probably another positive thing I forgot to mention above. It's cute, makes you smiley, happy and want to see more of it. Truth be told, the story has potential, I loved the idea of a bodyguard and a superstar romance but these things aren't well executed. The production team and agency ruined everything with their bad work....and they had one job to do.

Overall, I will keep watching because I truly love LingOrm and do enjoy seeing them on screen together. However, this series sadly (I can't believe I'm writing this) doesn't deserve 10 stars. Five is even a lot but I rated it 5.5 because the series hasn't finished yet. I might come back and edit this review for the better or worse.

BTW, If you wanna watch the series, please do and don't make my review stop you. Watch it and judge it yourself. And if your thoughts and opinion match my own after you do watch at least watch 5 episodes.....come back here and let me know under my review :)

Edit:
Yup, after watching the whole show 12 episodes......I officially announce that I haven't changed my mind. I dislike the series from episode 2 to the last. Epi 1 was sweet tbh, wholesome and there are a couple of nice episodes to watch, however, I changed my review to 2.5 starts. This series was a way to milk money out of fans. Nothing more, nothing less. I hope the company would use its money "if" LingOrm get another project in the future to write (not a cringe writing but a professional with depth and a real plot), produce and direct a high budget series/movie that's worth watching and rooting for.
Bye.

Don't listen to the negative reviews

I am never one to write a review but I feel I had to after all of the negative comments this show has been receiving. I almost didn't watch this because as a fan of TSOU (The Secret of Us) I felt like I would be disappointed when I read all of the negative feedback on the show. After finishing the last episode I found myself wondering if I had watched the same show as everyone else did. While this is not the best GL this year to me (Somewhere Somehow/Queendom & possibly Poisonous Love) and I don't think it was better than TSOU this was not a bad GL(B Friend). I think there could be only 2 reasons for such negativity. Either they don't like LingOrm or they didnt like the kisses which were understandable because it is CH3 which is conservative. I remember lakorns where the couple barely touched each other and the finale was a hug so this didn't bother me.

The acting and chemistry between Ling and Orm was the same as from TSOU minus the kisses but the story I agree is the weak point of the show. I think the first half was written very well but the second half was mediocre but this show by no means deserves a 1.0 or 2.0 like the other reviewers have given it. Also the action scenes weren't as bad as everyone made them out to be either. While they weren't hollywood level stunts I thought it was acceptable and I didn't feel thrown off watching Ling fight bad guys. I think this is a solid second show for LingOrm but I do wish they get to do a show like somewhere somehow for there next project because I think they can pull of comedy real well judging by the beginning of the show and I also think Nene can be the Pock of that show

Story was good, Actors saved the whole series

the start was really good - esp ep 1. everything in that ep is chef kiss. as the ep progresses, you will notice cuts and transitions that are weirdly done. i was pissed at the editor, but when i saw the BTS, they director was the one who did bad. always intercepting the actors. cutting the scenes where it couldve been extended not for more dramatic fees but for easier editing.

director is part of screenwriting, towards the end she seemed to want to include a lot of plot but only left with 3-4 more ep. the plots inserted were good. the eps left is lacking to really fulfill and resolve the plot twist.

all the actors were good. not just the leads. they were the ones who did justice to everything that the director failed to do. in a bit said for some side characters bec their role had too much potential but didn’t got the proper exposure they deserve.

its overall good. some things couldve been better only if thecdirector knew what she’s really doing with her story.

Disappointing

Actors first series was amazing. Therefore, waiting patiently for this, their second series together. Unfortunately, absolutely disappointing. It has been so painful to sit an watch every week, hoping that it would get better. The word that comes to mind is, 'cringeworthy'.... The acting of the two main actresses have been cringe worthy, every scene, and every episode. Very fake acting as well. The kiss scenes are so emotionless. The actors lips barely move. Even if the story and direction wasn't the best, at least the actors could have improved their acting and emotions to present something worthy of watching, worthy of the fans and viewers time. Very amateurish. These stars are supposed to be able to carry a drama and make it valuable for the viewers... Regardless of the story and the director. That's what makes a 'star'.

Slow burn, strong chemistry, worth watching

It’s still pretty early with just four episodes, but I wanted to share my take since there’s been so much negativity floating around.

[EDIT] I'm now 11 episodes in, and I stand my ground. [END EDIT]

What grabs me is the chemistry between LingOrm. It just feels natural and comfortable to watch. Ling as Tawan, playing the bodyguard, knows exactly when to be tough and when to soften up, while Orm as Ayla, the idol, lights up the screen with her fun, playful vibe. Together, they bring the story to life with their differences.

Honestly, it doesn’t even matter how their relationship is in real life. As long as that connection translates well on screen, that is all we viewers need. Eye candy and good vibes done.

This isn’t some action-packed drama (there are a little more action scenes in the last few eps!), even if the roles might make you think otherwise. The story is slow-burning, building up the characters gradually with subtle expressions and meaningful moments. [EDIT] I do not disagree with most comments that some scenes could move faster, but at the same time, I appreciate the deep connection it is trying to portray. I especially like the role reversal in episode 11, where we see Ayla taking on the role of caring for Tawan after she gets injured. It shows the reciprocal relationship between the two. [END EDIT]

[EDIT] 11 episodes in, and it seems that there are still many hidden nuances and untold stories. Not sure how this is going to pan out for the remaining 3 episodes, but I'm keeping my hopes high for a smooth closure. [END EDIT]

Also, sure, the product placement is noticeable, but it never pulls you out of the story or feels too forced, which is a relief compared to other shows that go way overboard. And honestly, the brands are helping make the girls more famous, so where is the harm in “milking” that? Someone has got to pay the bills right.

All in all, I am excited to see where the story goes and how these characters grow. So far, LingOrm’s chemistry and acting are more than enough to keep me hooked.

I don't get the hate for this show

So while I do agree with some points of constructive criticism around this show, I strongly believe it's the most overhated series there is this year.
LingOrm's chemistry got better in my opinion, the story was nicely paced, and may I add that the production of this series isn't bad at all. Also, Channel 3 isn't like other production companies, it's not the most expressive company for "those" kinda scenes, and that didn't bother me in this story, because I felt the focus being more on emotional growth and not the love scenes (whereas I think they stand out in a different way). This series aired in primetime on a Friday night, and bare in mind CH3 is more conservative, and this is a great step for them. I don't usually write reviews (this is my second one), but I felt the need to write one for this series. If you as a new viewer are looking for a new series to watch with more episodes than average, or if you're doubting watching this, don't. Watch it, it's a very good series. A full 10/10 for me :)

Honest perspective

Only You the series feels like a retelling of Romeo and Juliet. Two households that have issues with one another. The series’ main themes are family and forgiveness. It's not a perfect story by any means but it has some good moments that as a viewer I've rewatched. The script made all characters feel like there was more to them and they left a lot to be desired. The good points is the chemistry of all the characters was believable, fun and easy to watch.

Every actor from the main to the side characters acting was good. Heavy scenes for Tawan and Ayla showed their characters' love for each other. The sweet scenes were cute and fluffy. Tawan is charismatic and her action scenes make her swoon worthy. Ayla is bubbly and talented like a real idol makes her a believable character. The side characters are scene stealers that made it enjoyable. They had short parts but delivered the fun and the serious that add details about the main characters' environment.

The story feels like it’s trying to hold onto too much at once with extra characters for the plot. It would've been best to have more episodes to explore all side characters and subplots. Or just cut some plots and focus on the main characters.

Ayla's character in the first episode was well written but later on the episodes the story focus wasn't on her character and more on Tawan. While Tawan has character growth, Ayla's character stayed the same. And this story is a character driven story so its expected that Ayla, a main character has more depth towards the end. Although the story did touch upon Ayla's struggles as an idol, I wished the writer explored the theme of idols and fan dynamics. It was a missed opportunity for this series to talk about real social issues.

Tawan is a complex character; her background story gives her a lot of depth. Her tough personality was shaped by her upbringing. Tawan finds her chosen family in her group of bodyguards. Ayla gives Tawan the love and comfort she never received from her real family and that makes Tawan overly protective of her. Her character is believable and relatable which makes her a likable character.

Production was rushed with the filming being crammed, which led to issues with the script. The behind the scenes show the director had to change the script in one of the scenes on the spot. This can indicate that the script was not well reviewed or revised. Editing was also a problem. Complaints about the editing during the series airing lead to production fixing it.

If you want to watch characters that are devoted and loyal then Only You the series is for you. The series may have its flaws but the Tawan and Ayla's love for each other is the most beautiful thing about the series.

Only You was my first Thai GL. So I thought this was the standard and I am totally happy about the cringe since I came from watching soap operas and teleseryes from the Philippines. So I didn't really have much hope for this one and I was right lol.Bodyguard x celeb is actually a good yearning trope but they did not really focus on this trope as much as I thought and that's disappointing. Also, what kind of bodyguard wears heels on the job? Makes no sense lol. They mostly did it to close the gap of the heights of LingOrm which is so unnecessary in my opinion. It's okay if the more femme one is taller. It's hotter that way but that's just me. There's also so much trope in this show that it didn't really make for a good plot. They put in the star-crossed lovers trope here as well which could've so much angst if it was written well. But the fathers not approving the relationship not because of homophobia but because they are business rivals is so trivial that it didn't really hit my feels at all. If Ayla's father is rivals with Tawan, then that would be a better plot. And do not get me started with the sickness thingy that came out of nowhere. Like tf? It was a great gesture from Tawan and all but it didn't really tie to the story. It felt like I was watching a different show. I wished they sticked to one trope and focus on that then maybe we could've gotten a better show. I really believed that the director didn't really utilized the actresses full potential in this series. Orm (Ayla) - she is such a good drama actress. Her scenes always tug at my heart but I just think that there are times that she didn't really need that much emotion on a scene. Like gurl you don't have to cry all the time. I get it you can cry on cue lol. Her character doesn't also have a lot of inner conflict and I wish there was more angst for her character because she got left with no explanation. I would've loved to see a moment of her struggle of her almost giving up on Tawan. The ""is she worth it"" moment. I felt like a monologue would've been perfect for Orm because she would've pulled it off easily. Lingling (Tawan) - I love protective tropes as much as the next person but I don't like the way it was portrayed here. It's giving toxic masculinity, especially when Tawan is an S class bodyguard. She should have better composure and a better grip of her emotions. I wanted the portrayal as ruthless but not violent. Calculated not explosive. Also, the poker face should be for the outside world, and she shows her softness when is alone with Ayla or in her regular life. There's not much of that I've seen. I want the microreactions, the small smiles, the yearning glances. I needed more from Tawan. Because she's a yearner through and through but I just didn't see that on her facial expressions. In actions sure. I like the music and it's been added in my playlist. I like when people make songs for the actual show and not just grabbing a song that's already out there and making it an OST. So I am very happy about the music. I find it very funny that they have to play the "you are the moon in my heart" every single time. Sometimes it's ruining the vibe of the moment because you keep hearing it. The timing was not there at all. I understand if people don't want to hear that song after this show lol. Also, I am very upset that they didn't really use the actors very well. I really think that there's so much more of them than this. Also, I think the intimate scenes could've been better especially the kissing scenes since we are in the year 2025. I thought they would kiss like they weren't cardboards lol. I really wanted to like this series so much because the actresses are quite good. It just keeps missing on where I wanted it to be.
