So far So Good - very surprised

This rom-com is actually pretty decent. The actress, although much older than ML, is convincing and funny. They are convincing as a couple. They do have chemistry.

The story is a time travel one where the FL, who just won a French culinary competition, was transported to the era of the king who has sensitive taste buds to food.
Every step of the story is simple but convincing. It's fun and funny to watch the story of the couple unfolds.

king yeonsan references

I really like Yoona and the ML but this show is clearly based on king yeonsan and its feels so unbearable to see how they theyre whitewashing his character. this king has killed so many people, evicted innocent people out of their homes for his haunting ground and kidnapped the whole female population for his own pleasure. sickening how the drama is making excuses for him. not only he took away lives but he also stripped away that very little hope left in humanity by banning hangul and abolishing sungkyunkwan . all because of his mommy issues. and oh btw his mom was known to be highly jealous and temperamental who poisoned another concubines and she also scarred the King's face which was a sin in jeoson. the king even tried to hide his scar when she shoulve been deposed long ago. i guess we know where king yeonsan got his tyrannical genes from. but ofcourse in this drama she and yeonsan are the victims and the previous king is demonized. the history distortion is just insane

this show couldve atleast use a different tyrant king like gwanghae but nope it has to be yeonsan.
guess what, romanticizing him is not going to erase the dystopian world he ran for 12 years. imagine how many people suffered. i'll give you an example, he also executed his eunuch who served 3 kings, forced people to watch him cut off his limbs and his innocent bloodline to 7th degree was also punished. he is the most vile and depraved ruler to ever exist.

even whitewashing him feels so forced in the drama itself.
the entire first episode he did nothing but try to kill ji-yeong without hesitation. he has clearly no ounce of humanity in him, just like he was in history hes willing to kill innocent people. yes he got reminded of his mom by her cooking but his switch-up is just unbelievable to be honest

and oh in the manhwa, she also never went back to korea and just stayed in joseon which was pretty damn stupid. imagine giving up your entire career and human rights like freedom of speech just for a man who tried to kill you at first sight lol. im curious if theyre going to change that in the drama but i cant support a drama romanticizing such figure

The writers must've been uninspired

If you've seen the anime "Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma" and the K-Drama "Mr. Queen" and some other sageuk dramas with time travel elements to them, then I really can't recommend this series that much—the synopsis and plot are similar so far, the way the characters react to Yeon Jiyoung's cooking is similar to Food Wars, and I presume the way the story will go as the episodes go on will be similar to that of Mr. Queen.

After a long two-year wait, Yuna's new drama has finally been released.
If you like fantasy, time travel and comedy drama, I would say this drama is Bon Appetit Your Majesty for you.
You can say it a beautiful drama by combining how the girl can sustain herself at the past from the present.
Those who are MR Queen Drummer Fen you can see it. I think it will take place on your favorite list.
It was released yesterday and I like it.
In a word, satisfied.
How did everyone feel the first episode? But I feel like Jose. I can't wait for the rest of the episodes anymore. 🥹
My theory: In his point of view and time, she exists, and he fell in love with her. But in her point of view and time, he’s just someone from history. Reincarnation is probably involved in this drama. If the book was written for her to come back, then fate brought them together again, but this time the story focuses on her point of view. The question that will decide whether this drama ends happily is: Does he exist in the present where she belongs?

The ending might be the same with Scarlet Heart Ryeo, so prepare your heart and tissu.
Episode 4 lost of fun Your Majesty, if you just edited the spelling of what you said, it would be an insult of that level! Just leave out the pasta 😂🤭 🎬 : Bon Appetit, Your Majesty.

Lim Yoona, who we can now see as a chfe . He has trained three months of cooking like Car's Safe for acting in this character. He has also mastered the special French cooking technique called Flambé to do every tactic of the night.
I feel very good to myself know how hard they work to make a character beautiful.
"Bon Appétit, Your Majesty" is not just a drama. This is another proof of its hard work and talent. Of course, it is said that Yona is a very hard actress. I hope this drama is very successful. We have seen four episodes of it in the usual way so far an episode has not even boring to me waiting for the rest of the episode.

This is no MR queen

In my opinion, the cast delivers strong performances. As for how open the world is, it's too early to tell after just two episodes, so I can't comment much on the setting yet. The plot has potential, but it could have benefited from a stronger writer. It feels like the writer was aiming for something in the vein of Mr. Queen, but didn’t quite hit the mark he or she totally miss it. The female lead comes across as overly ignorant of her situation, and it’s frustrating, she seems capable of nothing beyond cooking.

The first 30 minutes are particularly hard to get through. You’ll find yourself gritting your teeth, wondering why the story didn’t start differently and why the character is written to be so clueless. Sure, she’s in another world, but that doesn’t excuse the lack of basic awareness or adaptability. I did push through this rough beginning and hope she grows smarter and more strategic as the story progresses ,something she did in episode 2 what made me think she is the worse FMC ever written . You will now when that part come

Spark missing & FL acting cringe and exagerate

I just watched the first 2 episode. Was so boring, nothing intresting, nothing new or inspiring.

Why is it successful? Because it's cheap commercial comedy, for people who don't need much, or to use their head, creativity, curiosity for more. Is a simple stupid kdrama. In the last 2 years they've lost their spark on doing great or good dramas. Once again it is demonstrated that what is successful does not mean it is also good or profound or inspirational. There are many underrated kdrama, but few people with artistic preference and knowledge, or out of the box, beyond imature behaviour.

Yoon A is cute as a woman, but as a actor is mediocre. You dont see any emotion on her face, does not express any feelings in her acting, is flat. She is the same in every drama. Here you will not find any difference in acting she is like in King the land

In the first episode the FL was cute, but acting like stupid, and also unrealistic even for a fantasy drama. The FL character is annoying, the comedy is so cringe.

However I like the ML acting...

Sorry... I don't know if I will continue. If you will want to give it a try I recommend you to order korean food, a lot of food.

And I would have loved to see Park Sung Hoon in the new drama " The Tyrant's Chef " . He would have been super attractive, seductive, present. He would have been epic as a man and as a power and acting talent. Or maybe it's better, that ML is not that talented and deep as an actress. We will never know.

Korean society is very bad at the chancellery. They are obsessed with control, image, the eyes of the world because they are not connected to them, there is a lot of lack of deep connection and emotional and mental maturity in this society...at least from what I observe in the world of kdrama Kpop.

One of the best. Lee Chae Min and Im Yoon Ah look good together. I just hope that the story line keeps on getting more and more exciting because the first 2 episodes were the best. Congratulations to the two main lead characters. Hoping these two can get more projects together and im really looking forward

Fantasy+ historical setting+ humour+ chaos + food = My cup of tea

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

If you love fantasy, historical settings, food, romance, and a healthy dose of chaos, Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is going to be your next obsession.

Imagine this: a professional chef from 2025 gets transported back to the Joseon era, landing straight into the court of a tyrant king who rules with an iron fist. What follows is a whirlwind of misunderstandings, bickering, confusion, and absolute chaos.

The king eventually hires her as the royal chef, and let’s just say, her cooking is nothing short of magical.

To be honest, don’t overthink the logic just let yourself enjoy the ride.

This show masterfully blends fantasy, comedy, historical drama, romance, and food, with the latter being one of the central themes. And yes, the classic adage holds true here: the way to a man’s heart is definitely through his stomach. 🤭

The performances are incredible. Yoona is unforgettable vibrant, expressive, fun, and utterly compelling as the time-traveling chef. Lee Chaemin surprised me his portrayal of the king is commanding, nuanced, and perfectly balanced with the chaos around him. Together, their chemistry is magnetic, full of banter, tension, and subtle moments that will have you rooting for them nonstop.

I won’t spoil more, but trust me on this: drop everything, tune in, and enjoy the feast. With no comparisons, no biases, just pure fun—this show is an absolute delight.

Expressive acting, hilarious

I’m a 30-year follower of East Asian films and dramas.
Chinese works, especially historical dramas, are often full-budget and intense with complex storylines and a large cast. Billions of views is not unreachable for China’s best works. One complaint is that more and more, capable actors have become zombie green screens for CGI.
Japanese films often explore spiritual conundrums, but the weekly serials tend to be insular and mundane. I’m avoiding the word “boring”. Japan’s public TV - NHK - is absurdly expensive and international audiences miss out on well-made non-fiction and dramatic content.
In contrast, Korean dramas are highly accessible. Facial expression, body movement and human-centered stories are the reason Netflix and other platforms have picked so many up.
“Bon Appetite…” is hilariously modern with a sarcastic nod to the historical genre. Super fun. Maybe I’ll expand my culinary repertoire.

Off to a strong start

The edits of this drama are going viral on TikTok right now, so I'm getting on the train. The mix of comedy, royal intrigue, and mouth-watering food scenes is spot on. The leads already have great chemistry, and the pacing keeps things exciting without dragging. If the rest of the season holds up, this could be one of the most fun dramas of the year.

Food n fun

I really like this drama—it’s so much fun to watch! I especially love dramas that include food, and this one isn’t just about that, it’s full of fun moments too. The way she traveled back in time was such a cool twist, and those cute little fighting scenes between them are so entertaining.
The acting is really good—especially the ml n fl , they’re doing such a great job. The first two episodes were honestly so enjoyable, and the male lead is amazing too. For now, everything about this drama feels just right!😭💌

And the drama of the summer is served?

It's been a bit slow in k-drama land (at least for me) Since a handful: Our Seoul, Tastefully Yours, Etc. I switched over to more lively C-Dramas and haven't found myself wanting to watch any kdramas. Why? The synopsis haven't caught me or seemed interesting enough to put my time in. I watch dramas to relax, and didn't want anything too emotionally deep at the moment, wanted and still am going to watch a Winning Try.. but also am in the mood for something centered on romance.

Bon Appetit, Your Majesty serves directly what I want right now. A romantic-comedy, fresh visuals, and a fun synopsis. A modern girl being put into the Joseon Dyanasy with a twist - she's got to serve up dished for the tyrant king - and THAT is fun to watch.

This drama has a good production behind it, and I really liked how they showed her transition to the Joseon Dynasty. It showed me right away this drama is unafraid of its concept and is ready to dive all into the oddities of a modern-day woman being put into this older-era world. It is bizzare, and Yoona plays it up percectly. She is an all-rounder. She has charm to her, and an abundance of talent that I know this role will serve her well.

Later down the line I see this drama has a lot to work with. The leads Lee Chae-Min and Yoona I was skeptical of the chemistry as Chae-min is sort of a rookie to me, but he takes this role and delivers what he needs to. For a first few episodes, the tyrant king is the tyrant king. He has this look to his eyes that is intense, and his delivery is sharp and demaning even besides his youthful visuals. Together the two look amazing, and you'll get that with two good looking people. They've had scenes where I see sparks already, and am excited to see them fall for eachtother based off the premise and where they both ocme from.

Speaking of which.. I wonder if this will turn melodramatic? Just a thought...

For what we have now. This drama is worth watching weekly, worth watching in general. Almost would say it's a can't miss of the summer. A historical period drama with fun and charm, not too stressful on the politics, and a good entertaining watch with stunning visuals and scores to back it up. The writing is quick-paced, but in a way that it's not just characters talking and talking and talking. Everything says is put towards the story, and to develop characters as fun, menacing, etc. I'm happy with this drama so far and am also so happy that a high-budget drama is actually good if that makes sense? Like it isn't just flashy with the visuals or using its leads to rope in viewers by the neck. If anything watch to learn recipes, there's really something for anyone here.
