Enticing enchanting and not getting enough love

Let me start off by saying I have never been into OffGun. The only reason I watched this is because they were doing something similar to Not Me. That show has a great storyline and so does this one. I don’t think fans appreciate a good storytelling. Everyone is mind blowing including Dew who surprised me with great acting. Now I need to find time to watch Leap day.

Too realistic for its own good

The characterization is where Burnout Syndrome shines, because the series depicts various degrees of assholery masterfully. Ko, the entitled man-child AI capitalist whose tragic backstory is just a flimsy excuse to ruin countless lives with his business ventures, makes me want to punch my fist through a wall. Jira, though he is more relatable because of the economic pressure that shapes his actions, is absolutely infuriating in his lack of integrity and his artistic tunnel vision. What do you mean, the only time you're inspired by Pheem is after he told you how much you hurt him? Speaking of whom, Pheem is truly something too, and I'm glad he doesn't have more of a backbone because you know that, in an alternate reality, this man would resort to domestic violence. And don't even get me started on Mawin and Ing and their enabler tendencies.

Overall, the show is psychologically fascinating with genuinely flawed characters whose actions are frustrating precisely because they make so much sense in the context of the characters' selfishness and their need for validation from the wrong people. The show prioritizes realism (or fatalism?) to its own detriment, though. Not even everyone's acting skills and their great chemistry (Mawin and Pheem are a stellar duo) make up for the total lack of escapist qualities. As a result, I had to force myself through the last episodes. The AI conversation also doesn't go where I want it to, but it admittedly has more to offer than I expected, so I won't fault Burnout Syndrome too much for that.

Did not disappoint! The itch I needed.

I was really looking forward to binging this once it was over, and it definitely did not disappoint. Such a good watch! It’s complicated, and honestly, I couldn’t see it ending any other way. Not all relationships are roses and flowers, and this show captured and delivered that so well.

The heart wants what it wants, unfortunately.

I was honestly so shocked discovering it was a GMMTV production… which, in hindsight, is silly because the artists are all GMMTV actors lol. It’s so good!

Arte.

I'm OBSESSED

I think I'm OBSESSED.
I just love it. Not necessarily the story, but the vibe: artistic, like a dream. The way it's filmed, the music (one of the few times I can actually give a rating to the music - very well chosen per scene), the characters.
The characters have flaws, flaws that make them interesting, appealing, desirable. They attract the audience, but also give that feeling of rejection. I love the way Koh and Jira are attracted and repelled by each other. How art, need, desire bring them together, and then each other's flaws drive them apart.
I'm only on episode 4, but I think it's going to be one of THOSE series. I will keep coming back to it.
I'm glad I waited until at least 6 episodes were released. I think one episode a week ruins all the magic.

Definitely going to be a masterpiece!

I just finished watching episode one. So here is my review.

Gun’s acting is great as usual. No surprises. Off is doing an amazing job! Dew is so handsome and acts really good too. Love everything about it. The music selection is amazing. The story line. I could literally feel the tension between Dew and Gun. At the same time, the tension between Off and Gun is palpable. Jira is a really funny and sassy character. I don’t think he realizes that he is funny. But he is quite unhinged. I love how flirty Peem is. It is very smooth and his pick up lines or moves are really cute. Koh on the other hand is really cold. But I think I like how complex his character is. I would really enjoy this series.

First impressions: Stunning, moody and Complex

OFFGUN are back again with another raw and realistic drama with stunning cinematography and complex characters. This one has depth and is oceans away from your average highschool BL. I can see this one being emotionally tough to swallow in areas as they show the relationships between the 3 leads developing, hinting at future traumas and misunderstandings.

As someone who personally worked in Tech, I love that they are showing the impact of AI on creativity, job prospects and lowering of human value in the workplace.

Offs character is full of mystery, hinting at a possible undesirable past, Guns character starts off in a pitiful, and lamenting situation which begins to become more desperate as his financial situation is wavering. The third main lead (Dews character) is also complex and seems to be a bit too enthusiastic early on at getting close to Guns character, either for fun or curiosity.

The acting here is top class, as expected from such a well seasoned pair. All three leads are killing it.

The drama covers mature theming and imagery along with real world struggles around job security, dreams and finding oneself. The watercolor art depicted in the drama is lovely.

After just one episode, I recommend this for those looking for something raw and full of suppressed emotions waiting to bubble up and overflow. Fans of 'Not Me' will love this.

EDITS:
Ep 7:
I just felt it was a bit flat this episode, there was no satisfying push back from Jira, hes just still desperately trying to continue as before even after Koh treated him with disrespect and said he has no feelings. Jira needs to set his boundaries and teach Koh hes not a plaything. Pheem is just a playboy who doesn't understand love, hes just obsessed. Also raging out like that Infront of Jira should have made Jira walk TF out, red flag. Pheem just wants to beat Koh at this game they have between them to capture Jira. Pheem does not care for Jiras art, he just wants a piece of him.

All the actors delivered really strong performances . everyone felt natural and convincing, which made the story even more immersive. What really stood out was how the drama centered around AI and the way it affects human jobs and identity. Unlike typical BL dramas, Burnout Syndrome focused more on psychological depth, technology, and real social issues, giving it a fresh and mature feel.

The tension between Dew and Gun was intense and added a powerful emotional layer to the story. Off’s performance also stood out , he brought a grounded, heavy presence that made the dramatic scenes hit harder. This was also Dew’s first BL project, and he handled such a complex role impressively, showing a different side of his acting range

- A trilha sonora é ótima e melancólica
