CHOKUNASTON❤️❤️read till end btw

i would give up both my arms for chokunaston, even though there’s only been 1 ep every time they smile at eachother i am genuinely tweaking out

i am going to save up all my money so if and when chokunaston become an official gmmtv couple i want to buy their mascot keychain because this obsession is becoming too real

other than chokunaston, mickluke is actually quite sweet aswell. i appreciate kit in boys in love, what a professional procrastinator (too real). also micks character is literally so real aswell because like him i suck at playing games

also… whoever decided to give THE BARCODE TINNASIT ISARAPONGPORN an ost for boys in love, i want their hand in marriage because ‘lesson 1’ is one of the BEST osts ive heard. wouldn’t of expected anything less from barcode

im so looking forward to the rest of the episodes and also podpapangs storyline. this will be the highlight of my week im prophesying it

UPDATE FROM EP7!!!!
GUYS WTF!!!!!!! now tell my why this is the most amazing the most perfect youth drama gmmtv has like ever created. LIKE why did i never mention kenpaul earlier because guys im not even kidding, they are like the 2nd best thing which has ever happened to me like they’re so silly and i reckon they should have more screen time. AND THOSE GODDAMN TEACHERS😫😫guys if you’re reading this not sure if you should watch boys in love. all you have to do is go on to astons tiktok lives or his twt- OR just search up Chokunaston and oh my god guys you will EASILY be convinced into watching this. aston is actually too chronically online and he’s exposed himself too many times. tell me why you wouldn’t want to watch that?

oh and also regarding osts i love shot clock, bro the mv is so cute i cant even watch it anymore. also,,, lukemicks ost is lowk so good! not entirely sure how i feel abt micks singing (no offence) but luke surprisingly pulled through and like kinda ate ngl…

to be honest the only downside i have is that i feel like kitshanes screen time is a bit dragged out in a few episodes (ONLY SOMETIMES) and shane kind of just brings negative energy, but i understand thats just his character. i still love kitshane guys dont get me wrong, i just wanna see more teachers😔ONE LAST THING!!!! the montages when they go to like the aquarium or literally any sort of montage in boys of love is surprisingly like a cinematic masterpiece like BRO THIS IS CRAZY!!! like i’m not being dramatic but gmmtv really pulled through with the quality and i haven’t been bored of a single montage (usually i am with most shows) but these montages are just 😍😍😝🤭🥰especially all the chokunaston moments I LOVE THEM SO MUCH

anyways i’ll update my final review in a few more weeks😝😝
final update: this show don’t get me wrong is really good but honestly i haven’t even finished it, i’ve only got ep 12 to go and i genuinely can’t find a purpose in watching it, im just not interested to find out how it ends, and i can add kind of assume. the plot itself is actually not very good, it’s okay. BUT the individual episodes are all really fun and the quality is pretty good actually. i loved chokunaston but sometimes and poddpapang but their screen time was actually awful. micks character pissed me off and kit idk… i think luke’s acting was pretty good though, but i think it’s relatively easy to tell that this is a first project for most. i did like ken paul but then pauls character pissed me off then it threw me off a bit, idk to me they always just felt like best friends…it’s still worth a watch and i 100% think it’s very good as a comfort show or at least a youthful show. but honestly everything in life is pissing me off atm and i’m convinced nothing will be more peak than only boo. overall though i did enjoy the show, but definitely it starts off really strong but then when it gets to the middle ish it just feels like Oh, it’s definitely not bad, but if you decide to go on holiday and have 3 weeks off without watching any series, then maybe like me, you won’t have any sort of motivation to watch the last episode.

anyways sorry for the extremely long review it’s been fun updating this. don’t listen to this review, this is more like a diary for me. Or you can listen to it, i mean all in all its positive but if you think that poddpapang will get more than 3 minutes per ep, then im so sorry 😖depending what mood you’re in this might be the most perfect thing for you, it helped me get through my gcses but rn the only thing i seem to want to watch is nothing, because im so lazy and all i do is doomscrolling and checking my twt for khemjira updates. if anyone has any advice on how to stop doomscrolling and become productive and get a life, pls let me know! anyways i think im done now. bro no one’s even gonna read all this wtf am i even doing😭😭

Boys are in love... and they actually "talk" talk!

This drama was peak serotonin for me. A sweet, high school coming-of-age romcom, full of puppy love and fluff with no melodrama or forced angst. Also, this is an example of what happens when actual teenagers play teenagers. It added a layer of authenticity that helped me root for the characters.

What really stood out to me is how all the couples handled communication. Misunderstandings happen, but here they were not milked for the drama and dragged on forever. They actually talked, listened and sorted it out with no unnecessary angst, no soap opera twists, but just a bunch of teenagers who accepted and acknowledged their flaws and moved on happily.

Our two main couples :

Shane & Kit were giving the textbook opposites Attract. Shane was more of a dependable, observant and academically driven type who always had a plan in his head for his future. While Kit was spontaneous, flirty and more emotionally transparent than Shane.
They both balanced each other. Kit taught Shane to loosen up a bit and Kit discovers the comfort of being seen. They did argue and stumble but that is what made their dynamics feel real. It was just two flawed people trying to figure each other out and meet in the messy middle. These two absolutely have my heart! <3

Kim & Mon, on the other hand, felt like they were cut from the same cloth and got along well from the start. The romance between them felt sweet, soft and very gentle. Kim was such a spark with his earnestness and openness and while Mon, though initially a little reserved, gradually let down his guard. They were more fluffy and fairytale-ish compared to Kit and Shane.

All four of them have their own insecurities as they should and I think the drama did a good job of expressing that. It might not be the most mature way to handle things when I view it through an adult lens, but as teenagers, their small disagreements and emotional responses made sense.

While the drama gets a lot right, it’s not without flaws. Some of the conflict especially toward the later episodes started to feel a bit repetitive and recycled.  They did quickly resolve the issues but it was always the same. If I had to give an example, it would be how Kim struggled to express his feelings or communicate his thoughts to Mon, which ended up causing tension and misunderstandings between them. If they wanted to me to root for them, I needed more.

Another issue I had was that we didn't need a fourth couple here. Tar and Per looked absolutely forced to me on the romantic front. I always saw them as best friends who teased and irritated each other but at no point did I look at them and think, “Ah yes, romance is brewing". It felt like the writers just threw them in like, “Why not? Everyone gets a love line!”

While I wasn't too sure about the teacher's romance, but they completely grew on me. They were surprisingly wholesome together. With Tan's awkwardness and Nat's understanding, their bond felt very sweet and you could see they respected each other a lot.

Acting-wise, I feel everyone did a good job across the board. The younger cast members in particular, were impressive and I really hope they’re given more substantial roles in the future to fully showcase their talents.

Overall, this was much better than I expected. It was like a sweet blueprint of teens navigating their life with love, dreams and changes around. While the script is nothing out of the ordinary and it does feel like it plays a little safe but the charm here is that it never loses its tone or tries to be something it's not.
I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for something angst-free and fluffy.

Much more mature than anyone could have expected...

In typical GMMTV manner, they neglected their own show, meaning they did not promote it. But Aston comes to the rescue and he promoted the shit of his series, some videos of him got viral. And in this case, every promotion would have been justified. It's the first series in a long time which is not stupid, not childish from the first second of the series.

While the new actors are young and can play highschool students (and I hope, they will not play in a highschool or university till they turn 30, which is a trait of being a GMMTV actor), they did so in a refreshing way. It's also the first time in a long time, that the script was actually very well written. Of course this is a light-hearted, fluffy show, but nevertheless the people in this show talked with each other - and I mean they had really useful conversation. The only shitty part was the principal in ep 11 where Tan gets his promotion. That was a serious downer for me. But besides that, all the couples talk out their problems and find a solution. Of course not everything is perfect, but for a GMMTV production it feels perfect.

So this show as a joy to watch and if you want see something fluffy but not stupid, this is the show for you!

Thai BL's HeartStopper

So, SO many mixed emotions about this series. I want to say that my overall feeling about Boys in Love is that it's an average show with great depictions of actual teenagers going through normal teenage problems, but enviably, it falls into the usual GMMTV spiral of a series; Amazing, then good, then okay, then, when will this be over?

Let's Dive In.

Boys in Love was number two on my list of my most anticipated GMMTV series when the line up came out. A bunch a teenagers falling in love for the first time + their incredibly adorable teachers finding love too? I was hooked. I started this as soon as it aired and it became my norm to watch on Sunday nights.

I want to start off with this: this series doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's perfectly fine. This is a very lighthearted and just an easy watch, especially if everything else you watch is hard-hitting and dramatic, this can ease that pain immediately. But that doesn't stop me from critiquing it like usual, as I do tend to have harsher judgment on GMMTV series cause they have the money to do better, always.

Like most BLs, this show starts of amazing. No notes, everything is chef's kisses and rainbows. Until something shifts and it gets to be extremely tedious to get through. Instead of the usual formula of BLs, BIL was more episodic than anything I've seen. Each episode brought on a new problem in which it was then solved by the end and a new conflict arose in the next, and that went on and on. Not bad in hindsight, but the writers didn't know what else to have conflict over cause KitShane and KimMon's conflict always repeated itself in each episode. With Kit and Shane, it was mostly about how comfortable Shane was with being with Kit or how he was trying to find himself within the college world. With Kim and Mon, it was usually lots of communication problems and self-pity. These problems would've been so fine to have as the conflict throughout the series, but when the problem is resolved in the same episode it happens, so you can see how redundant it is to bring up that same conflict again in the next episode and then in the next episode after that. Yes, these are teenagers so maybe there's some truth to their madness, but oh my gosh, how annoying to continue to repeat the same problems.

Looking further into the couples, I never thought that by the end of this, my favorite couple would be Kit and Shane, but those two stole the show (their show yes, but main couples don't usually get as much love from me as the sides do). There were too many episode to count how many moments they had that were too precious for me to handle. They were the sweetest. They had a few rough patches, but the way in which they resolved them was so healthy that it really shocked me at times, truly. Shane as a character is like the cherry on top of this series for me. He is so complex on the inside with very little details that he slowly allowing to be shown on the outside, and it's everything. Kit is a ray of sunshine. He is a lot more comfortable in their relationship before Kit gets there, and he guides him through that process with such tenderness that I was a puddle of goo after their scenes. Utterly shocked at how fast their relationship progressed, as we had received a kiss in episode 2 and a relationship by like episode 4 or 5. I liked that the majority of the series was us seeing them as a couple going through typical teenage love problems and being perfect for one another by the end. My KitShane, I will miss you.

Now moving onto the biggest disappointment of this series; Kim and Mon. I can't believe that the closer we got to the end, the more I wanted them to just break up. Kim is extremely insecure in a lot of aspects, but most importantly, insecure about how much Mon likes him. Kim goes through hoops to impress Mon, then more imaginary hoops to keep him. When there was conflict, most of it was resolved by Mon speaking and Kim nodding. They say in one episode that they promise to have better communication with one another, and then, in the next, there is miscommunication which is entirely Kim's fault, but Mon will take the fall. I can tell you this for sure, Kim and Mon do not make it in college. Mon will get busy with classes and his life and won't have enough time to reassure Kim every three seconds that everything is fine. I absolutely hate that my feelings for this couple has changed since the beginning, because they were one of the reasons I started this series in the first place. Aston's dimples, me wanting to see Chokun again since MLMU, the library scene, all of it was so perfectly set up, like a little present left on my doorstep. I can't believe I open the gift and end up hating it. Also, Mon's mom was a menace. I hate that they never dive into that aspect of their son and mother relationship, I hate that they give her some kind of redemption arc when all she did was try and break them apart. I hate that they make her some supportive ally when she was calling Kim, "just a friend to Mon".

I loved Per and Tar. I was in-between on whether I would've liked them to explore a relationship with one another or just stay friends, but I think it's so much more complicated than that. They were everything to me, I loved that they had moments of just pure love and then in the next, I was laughing my ass off. I wouldn't mind even for a split second to have a second season but one that followed them more closely as they go to college together.

Moving onto the second most biggest disappointment: Tan and Nut. They start off so strong. We get everything you could've asked from a teacher relationship, but once they get together, the forget to give them screen-time. We see them go on dates, flirt in the office, even move in together, and still... no kiss. Whatever, honestly, I feel like this was a test series to see if an audience would be interested in an older BL pairing, so I'm hopeful that this means Pappang and Podd get their own series in 2026 (single dad trope pretty please).

Rating:

Story: 7.5/10 - Some of the episodes are so tedious to sit through, like the sport's day episode, just skip that entire episode, my goodness. But some episode were amazing, like the episode with the house party, with Kit trying to stay the night at Shane's, with Kim following Mon around when he discovers that Mon's ex is a girl. Some of the romantic development is a little heartbreaking, but you know what, whatever.

Acting: 9/10 - Nothing bad in this department. Everyone did great.

Music: 6/10 - Distracted me a little cause some of the songs sound so disney-esque that it took me out of the episode.

Recommendation Value: 8/10 - even with all I have to complain about, this series is cute. If you watched Heartstopper and enjoyed that, then you'll really like this. I think that's where a lot of the creative expressions come from is that show. But its adorable, no dead-fish kisses (surprisingly), and Aston's dimples.

This series will make you giggle and melt you nonstop, in the best way possible!!!

The spark. The cuteness. The giggles. The relationship problems. The insecurities. The much needed heartfelt talks. The teenage issues. The dilemma and the confusion as one grows up. This series has it all and it's executed very well. I am not even exaggerating, this series will make you giggle and melt you nonstop, in the best way possible.

Warning: Spoilers ahead!!!

Starting with Kim and Mon because they stole my heart from the very first moment. Kim falls for Mon the moment his eyes fall on him, and honestly, I totally get why. Mon is just ridiculously adorable, especially with that smile and those dimples. I just can't get over his smile. Their scenes are ridiculously cute in the best way and I am a melting mess every time they are onscreen. They are totally whipped for one another and I have been totally whipped for them ever since their first library scene. Kim went around all over the library searching for the literature section and that one book Mon needed just so that he could give it to Mon. And also don't even get me started on Mon buying and reading the entire volume of Doraemon (it has 45 freaking volumes) after Kim recommends it. Also, the stargazing scene was beautiful- the way they both wanted to hold each others hand but hesitated T^T. And their confession scene, followed by their "You are more interesting than the stars" scene completely melted me. To top it all, they just get even more sweeter after being official- from the way they look at each other to the subtle touches to their kisses to their sparkling chemistry. Sure, they have small arguments but they don’t walk away like it never happened. They come back, talk and put effort. They are honestly one of the most healthiest couple in the history of BLs.

Moving on to Shane and Kit, I love them no less. From the moment Shane and Kit show up on screen, it's obvious they're total opposites, but somehow they just click. Shane's basically a cat- kind of aloof at first, but once you get a glimpse of his soft, affectionate side, you're done for. He's super focused and studious, but deep down, you can tell he's craving a little more fun in his life. And then there's Kit- carefree, playful, and all about living in the moment. He's terrible at math but seriously knows how to enjoy life. One teaches the other how to study, while the other teaches him how to have fun. The spark between them is undeniable and electric, and they actually act on it. They are so freaking cute, oh my god, I seriously thought they were teasing us viewers but damn they act and I melted. Every time they're together, it's this perfect mix of teasing, learning, and just pure, heart-melting chemistry. You can't help but smile because they fit together so naturally, even though they're so different.

Then there’s Tar and Per- absolute gems of friends. They’re incredibly supportive of Shane and Kim, and as best friends themselves, their dynamic is just so enjoyable to watch. But honestly? There’s definitely something more going on between Tar and Per. You can feel it in the way they interact- the glances, the quiet understanding, the easy closeness. I just know they will be together somewhere in the future. And Tar? He’s the definition of adorable. No matter what he wears, he just radiates this soft, endearing energy. Total cutie.

Speaking of the other characters- while the teachers’ storyline is probably my least favorite, I still find them adorable. At first, they don’t really get along. But when they’re forced to share the gym room as their office (thanks to a shortage of desks in their respective departments), they end up constantly around each other and something just sparks. And while it’s not a full-on slow burn, there are these occasional, quiet little moments between them- just enough to make you smile.

Talking about the osts, I absolutely loved Lesson One. Also, Stop Clock this directly shot shot shot my heart and Missing Piece was so soothing.

I never expected this to be this charming and heartwarming when I first saw it's trailer but damn it exceeded. It’s everything I hoped for and more. Highly Recommended!!

Boys In Fluffy Love

Overall: watching this fluffy romcom gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. It was my favorite GMMTV series so far. 12 episodes about 45 minutes each. Aired on iQIYI (U.S., Canada and Thailand) https://www.iq.com/play/boys-in-love-episode-1-1p80isfbzyg?lang=en_us and GMMTV's YouTube channel for likely everywhere else https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUGbwUQ5jeQ

Content Warning: unwanted outing

What I Liked
- vibrant/youthful (but not childish) feel
- opposites attract dynamics
- supportive friends (though they seem to share a brain cell)
- flirty moments
- sweet/caring moments
- the apology in episode 2
- lack of communication didn't drag on forever, felt realistic to try to figure things out
- bisexual representation
- worked through challenges together

Room For Improvement
- voice over to set the story/exposition dumps (but I appreciated not starting with a flash forward or flashback)
- nonsense, 'no uniforms' does not mean complete chaos with fake weapons and Halloween-like costumes and perhaps it's different in Thailand but where I live teachers would never invite students to a housewarming party
- one guy in a side couple totally ignored the other's boundaries in episode 4
- a teacher asked a very personal/inappropriate question and at times he felt too immature to be in a romantic relationship

High School Dairy

Someone call the Tooth Fairy, cuz this was so effing sweet and cute, I got a tooth ache. I don't know, give the cast cotton candy and clouds as a reward, cuz it was so fluffy. Like I found myself grinning and aww-ing so much that my cheeks hurt. Also, Shane's deadbeat parents legit named their second born, Name. They didn't even bother... lmao.

Listen, this is the first time I didn't cringe at a cast acting cute or adorable. It came so naturally to them, and also they weren't university students with adult jobs trying to act cute. Yikes, I still remember that one drama a couple of months ago and the cringe and all that stupid arse sound effects. Dear bl creators more of this fluff please. Anyway, here's my quick review.

Shane and Kit
So different in personality and yet they worked. Shane worried a lot, was negative, always so serous, but I liked how mature he was. I understood, coming from the home he did, being pessimistic came with those set of parents. Love Kit as well, how we met him as his chill dude, who was not serious about everything, to him actually growing. Shane's seriousness and Kit's playfulness and openness countered each other very well. Loved them a lot.

Kim and Mon
Mon always looked like someone stole his lunch, but I know he meant well, and when he does smile awww. I wasn't a fan of how Kim kept having to always to change himself to try and make Mon happy, but then it all worked out when they communicated. Also when Kim smiles, ahhhhh adorableness overload. I play they buy a house and a dog away from that mother of Mon, homegirl tripping sometimes. I also love this pair a lot, Kim's puppy love, free spirit and Mon's angsty self works very well together. Also in the finale when they were poking each other and going 'Mon loves Kim' and 'Kim loves Mon.' ahhhhh cuteness overload. Should I start doing this to people? Nah, can't go around poking people, right? Still, so damn cutee!

Per and Tar
These two, these two, children, please date each other. The way I kept going, get together, do it now every episode. And that kiss to shut him up, which... ahhh, I felt bad for Per when Tar just straight up downplayed it, but I get it, emotions are scary. I loved their friendship a lot, always being there for each other, and how they just stuck together. Loved them too, and in the finale when he gave him the rose while he was busy sticking on his own markers. LMAO. Also why are Per and Tar like the young version of teachers Nut and Tan?

Nut and Tan
Even the teachers were adorable in this drama. Tan and his clumsy awkward self made me love him a lot. I was very happy when they started dating. Tan's craziness, and over the top reactions and Nut's chill attitude and honesty worked well together. Their housewarming party was so heartwarming.

Look, what am trying to say with all this is that, this is the first time I basically loved every main character on a show. Hate Shane's parents, Mon's mother when she was being all take could take a hike, and the other extra characters didn't really leave any impression, but the 8 main characters did, and I really enjoyed everything they gave me.

All in all, Thank you khun director for a sweet show about growing up. I highly recommend this to all bl lovers, it's fun, easy, bit emotional and very heartwarming. Your time won't be wasted. I look forward to seeing all four pairs in their next works.

A supremely mediocre production

Everything about this show was astoundingly mediocre— the acting, the CPs, the plot, the chemistry. Gosh, this show desperately needed to be like 8 episodes max so that the episodes would have been tighter. They just meander with meaningless fillers for so long.
The CPs have the same arguments/disagreements again and again. Its so repetitive.

The boys are cute, sure, but GMMTV did not even pretend to have a script here. Its a major letdown. The only reason this show has such high ratings is because BL fans tend to worship anything from GMM for whatever reason.

Slow and boring - for me, one of the GMMTVs weakest series this year

**Slow, Boring, and Not Worth the Hype**

Boys in Love is a Thai BL series that sadly doesn’t live up to its hype. The show is very slow and not much happens. The production isn’t great, and the episodes all feel very similar. After watching a few, it felt like I was seeing the same thing over and over again. The stories are simple and there’s not much drama.

I’ve seen that many people gave this series high ratings on My Drama List, and to be honest, I don’t understand why. I thought it was boring, way too slow, had almost no plot, and mediocre production. Maybe I’m just too old for this. Maybe if I were a teenager, I would enjoy it more. But I expect more from a series made by a big production company. Just having cute boys smile at each other isn’t enough for me. For me, this is one of GMMTV’s weakest series this year.

The only thing I really liked was that the actors were actual teenagers playing teen roles. That made the characters feel more real, compared to some other similar shows where 30-year-olds pretend to be 15. In the end, Boys in Love was a big disappointment. It had potential, but there just wasn’t enough there to keep me interested.

The Colorful Uniforms Add So Much Fun and Vibe to the Drama!

I seriously hate Mondays—work is always a drag. 😩 But Boys in Love? It’s my Monday night savior for the last 12 weeks! 💖 Watching it after a long day with dinner just makes everything feel so much better. 🥰 Shane, Kit, Kim, and Mon are ALL too cute and lovable—honestly, I can’t pick a favorite! 😍 They bring so much energy and sweetness to the show.

I’ve got to mention the uniform situation—thank GOD it’s not the typical Thai white school uniforms we always see in high school/uni BLs! 🙌 The no-school-uniform policy adds such a fresh and fun vibe, which I really appreciated. It gives the characters so much more personality! 🌈

The best part? No third-wheel drama, no annoying girl characters, and NO toxic mess! 🙅‍♀️ The plot is simple but totally fun, and I found it so easy to just sit back and enjoy. It’s the ultimate feel-good BL! 🤩

The acting is top-tier, the chemistry is fire, and the music just hits every right note! 🎶 Honestly, one of the best high school BLs I’ve watched. I’m so glad I found this gem, it’s the perfect way to make my Mondays brighter! 🌟

A Winnie The Pooh Story

Watching this series will no doubt put you into a diabetic coma from sugar shock. It is so overly sweet that it becomes a travesty. Enough with the prepubescent silliness of what an ideal image of young gay relationships are. These are NOT them. I am not trying to convince anyone that my assessment is correct, but it is time now for some serious reflections on how and what is presented as young gay men in love that is actually authentic. And this ain’t it! And you are doing a gross injustice to young gay, lesbian, trans, and questioning individuals by constantly portraying this nonsense where relationships between adolescent gay boys are so easy to develop, maintain, and be accepted and worst of all so nauseatingly sweet and sanitized. They are not. And every one of their problems and issues has easy solutions; they do not.
Summarily, this series is passe, outdated, disparaging, and most of all does not have a modicum of connection to reality or candor. This is a Pollyanna world; not Earth 1.
