Honestly, I don't know what I expected going into this story. I think part of me expected an angsty, tearful, heartbreaking story of how the Christian faith - Catholicism, specifically - treats its queer persons. Honestly, I wouldn't have been mad at it. To look at major religions impartially is to know that they are largely not kind to queer people.

However, now that I'm done with the show, I'm really glad that they went the route they did here. Rather than show what we all know to be the sad and ugly truth that we live with, they instead made a beautiful body of work that highlights how faith, hope, and love, all kinds of love at that, can coexist

Because this is very much a character-driven story, I feel it is best to review it based on its characters

🎟️Tanrak - Every time I think of him, the question 'But are you happy?' by Barth to Tanrak pops into my mind. Tanrak lived most of his life numb. I think if he wasn't numb, he was sad. Someone somewhere commented that he was living to die. Before Barth and their love for each other, Tanrak was simply going through the motions. Probably hoping to die after being ordained so he could meet his parents again.

Then Barth comes into his life, and suddenly, he's smiling. His eyes have life in them again. He stopped being alive and actually started living. However, his joy, love, and happiness aren't as carefree and open as they deserve to be. Falling in love makes him scared. What I appreciate most about this story is that his fear doesn't come from God, but from man and the institutions that man has built around God.

When he was a child, Father Arnon, in not so many words, told him that dedicating his life to God and staying on that path would not only get him into heaven but also allow him to meet his parents. Falling in love deviates from that path. That promise. It makes him feel like he's betraying his promise not only to God but also to those around him who've placed their hope in him.

In his story, I believe episodes 2 and 5 hurt me the most. One where he discovers and has to face these feelings, and the other where he frantically tries to bury them. Ep 5 will stay with me the most coz it once again highlighted that while Tanrak didn't want to disappoint God, his greatest fear was always the people.

At no point in this story do we ever see him think or believe that God might think that his love for Barth was gross, or a sin, or any other undeserving words. His faith stays with him throughout this story; it's the people around him that make him fear. Made him think that his love for his fellow young man could not coexist or share space with his love for God.

🎟️Barth - I think I relate to his struggles with faith the most. That sadness and anger that come from the thought of 'If God cares and is supposed to love me, why does all this keep happening?' I'm actually highkey sad that we never got to explore his story more. The plot is centered around Tan with hints of Barth's sadness, loneliness, frustration, and anger—both at God and at the world.

Barth is presented as this rock for Tan. The person who would not only help him live for the first time (and forever), but the person who would love him for him. While this is beautiful (who wouldn't want someone like this to share their life with?) I think it is done at the expense of Barth's story.

I'd have liked to see who he was past Tan's rock, boyfriend and eventual husband. Show me Barth, the person. The struggles at school when he was outted, how he dealt with his dad's death, his mom's imprisonment, becoming a scholarship kid, and having to start over with no support system. We largely see his anger, but not what causes it. Exploring this further would've deepened him as a character in his own right.

One thing I do appreciate about him, other than how he helped Tan live again, is his respect for Tan's faith. While he had his doubts and issues, he never went out of his way to belittle who and what Tan believed in. I do not feel like the ending quite gave us an answer as to whether Barth went back to being a believer.

🎟️Kongdech - Tell me why I spent most of the show fearing that he was going to turn out to be homophobic? Thank God they never went that route. Rather than that, his anger and disappointment come from being 'dumped' by Tan. Tan here was like that one friend who gets a bf and suddenly vanishes from your life. She only pops back up if they're fighting, have broken up, or she needs something. I totally understand why he was mad. His bestie left him for the new guy. I get that their paths deviated, but Tan wasn't right in how he wiped Kongdech off his mind.

🎟️Father Arnon - I wanted to hate him. But he doesn't do anything worth hating. I think the one thing I'm most mad at him about is his words to Tan when he was a kid. He should have chosen his words to a mourning child more carefully. While he might have had the best intentions, Tan was too young to be put on the path that the Father put him on. I'd have wanted to be mad at him for the advice he gave Tan on love, but lowkey, I feel like he did what anyone in that position would do.

I was raised Catholic, and when I was younger, I encountered Nuns who would try to get young girls to become Sisters like them. Hearing Father Arnon speak reminded me of them. For them, no love was greater than God's love, no path was more noble than His path. So while some may be angry at the Father for some of the things he said, I think if you looked at it in the sense that all love is a temptation for people like them (not just queer love), then it's easier to understand him and what he was saying.

From what I know, for Catholic priests and nuns, romantic love would be seen as a sin, as they are required to remain celibate. Their capacity for love should be for their pastoral duties and relationship with God.

🎟️Final Thoughts🎟️
💖As a someone who has had the 'privilege' (idk another word to use for this) of never having to question my faith based on who I am attracted to or who I choose to love, this story helped me better understand how those who have, yet still hold on to their faith and in some cases remain in the church despite all the meanness that can come from others in that very circle, manage to do it. It is a reminder that faith and religion are not synonymous. And for those who are lucky, you can find acceptance in your religion

💖This may not have been a point of the show, but seeing Barh's struggle with his faith in relation to general life made me feel a little cathartic. Oftentimes, being angry at God is seen as wrong. You're not even allowed to talk about it, let alone acknowledge it. But Barth being angry and Tan not being judgmental about it made me feel seen...and other feelings that I cannot quite put into words

To end this yap session, I think Ticket to Heaven is a worthy watch. It's one of those stories that are not all sunshine and rainbows, but are very important, impactful, and leave a lasting impression. It is a valuable story of faith, hope, and above all, love.

BarthTanrak both deserve sunshine

Ticket to Heaven is one of those series that stays with you long after you've finished watching it.

After watching the initial pilot and later the trailer, I was already expecting an emotional story, but I wasn't prepared for just how deeply it would affect me. This isn't a drama that simply tells a love story of two highschool boys, it is so much more than that. TTH is a story about identity, faith, love, the courage it takes to question everything you have been taught, your purpose/path in life and what it truly means to love yourself, even when that choice comes at an unimaginable cost.

What makes TTH stand out compared to other BLs is the way P'Aof (director) took the risk and broached the rather delicate topic of compatibility of homosexuality and religion with sensitivity and not with contempt.
The series doesn't paint their characters ( i.e. Father Arnon and Magdalena House) as purely right or wrong, it shows that there is no easy answer to a moral question, but rather different nuances. TTH rather shows us different people who got shaped by their beliefs and upbringing, allowing us viewers to understand where everyone is coming from and why some behave the way they do. The characters, specifically Barth and Tanrak, are confronted with new moral obstacles in each episode. Every decision they make, no matter how big or small, carries an emotional weight because it doesn't affect only them but it affects the relationships with the people around them, the same people they've always called home (i.e. Father Arnon or Kongdech).

Barth and Tanrak aren't those perfect characters, no they have their own flaws which makes their struggles and behavior so much more relatable. As an empath, watching Tanrak navigate the conflict between the expectations he put on himself, namely following his religious path in order to meet his parents in Heaven and personal happiness is bittersweet - on one hand it's heartbreaking how he thinks that loving someone will keep him away from God and on the other hand so beautiful witnessing his journey of finding his true self. His fear of rejection, the desire to belong, the guilt that comes from feeling like you're disappointing the people you love, and the longing to be accepted without having to deny who you are all feel so real.
Also seeing how the loud and mischievous Barth become an insecure boy whenever Tanrak was pulling away from him, how much little Barth had to endure under his father's abuse, how the accumulation of various incidents made him turn away from God and also how he was completely alone in the world and saw Tanrak as his lifeline made his character so multidimensional and interesting.

And let's be honest, GeminiFourth's chemistry makes it easy to become invested in their journey, and even the supporting characters add depth to the overall narrative. They both portrayed their characters so magnificently to the point that you were crying, laughing and suffering with them in every single episode. The way Gemini and Fourth used their mimics, gestures, body language and voice to transmit the character's feelings were simply out of this world and both of them deserve all the recognition in the world. GeminiFourth absolutely smashed these characters, they weren't just playing those roles, no they were actually Barth and Tanrak. And one a little side note, seeing how much GeminiFourth evolved as actors since “My School President” is simply INSANE.

Visually, Ticket to Heaven is beautifully done. The cinematography, the different shooting location and the attention to the color schemes enhance the emotional atmosphere of each scene, letting the viewer have a peak into the characters' emotional state. Not only the cinematography was magnificent, but also the OST done by GeminiFourth complements the series perfectly and somehow draws you even more into the world of BarthTanrak. As a person who loves the use of symbolism in series, TTH really delivered and made me so giddy whenever P'Aof involved objects/colors/angles to support the visual aspect of the storytelling.

In conclusion, Ticket to Heaven is a moving, thought-provoking drama that balances emotional storytelling with beautiful production and memorable performances. It's the kind of series that leaves a lasting impression whether you want or not. Whether you're drawn to character-driven stories, meaningful themes, or heartfelt romance, this is a series that's well worth watching.

Ticket to Heaven is one of the most emotionally powerful BLs I've watched. It doesn't rely on typical romance tropes instead, it tells a deeply personal story about faith, identity, grief, and love. The relationship between Tanrak and Barth develops naturally, making every emotional moment feel genuine and meaningful.
Gemini and Fourth deliver some of their strongest performances to date. Their chemistry is subtle yet incredibly moving, and they capture the characters' inner conflicts with remarkable depth.

One of the best LBTQ series from Thailand

This is director and screenwriter Noppharnach Chaiyahwimhon (also known as Aof) best work yet. The way Aof manipulate and use the Thai language to truly convey a feeling or deepen the meaning of a sentence by changing pronoun or the choice of words is phenomenal.

Additionally, Aof has a tendency to use scenes with no/ little lines in his work where the focus is solely on the actor(s) in the scene, which is something that is used in this work as well. In order for those scenes to really stand out there has to be good quality acting. Nattawat Jirochtikul (nickname Fourth) takes the silent scenes and conveys character Tanlak's anxiety and worries beautifully. The viewer feels the characters' emotions as if they are our own emotions.
This is definitely Fourth's best acting performance yet. I am highly impressed by his and co-actor Norawit Titicharoenrak's (nickname Gemini) acting in this piece of art (because that is really what it is).

Additionally, another way that Aof has so carefully chosen every spoken word in the series is so brilliantly thought through. The series criticise religion in an objective way, meaning that the use of words and the acting shows that it is not god or religion that is an issue of accepting your sexuality or yourself but rather each individuals own perception of religion.

Every person (LGBTQ or not) should watch this masterpiece.

I didn't plan to write a review for this serie bcz i felt i wouldn't find best words the express my thoughts and feelings, so this might be messy
I loved the show, every minute of it, the storytelling, cinematography, symbolism, the songs,, dialogues acting, everything was perfect, this is gemini fourth best acting performance, bcz i felt its tanrak and barth bought to live,

We watched the journey of both, the struggle between, love, life, and religion

Barth who was angry at god bcz of what he went through from his family, he couldn't let that anger go till he met his mom, one of best scene in serie btw, asking her of she loved him as she love god and she said the words he needed the most

Tanrak, who imo never wanted to be a priest even before barth coming into picture, to me he was seeking love, the family he lost, he found that in god, father and his friend, he lived his life on one goal and its to die and go to paradise, he didn't have any other dream or purpose in life, barth was the love he tried to fight, his battle against himself, his guilt and fear, we lived that with him throughout the serie, the scene when father hugged him after years to let go was heartbreaking, bcz it took him years and he never forgave himself but he never regretted his decision.

Beautiful Story. It . GMMTV why do you always make me cry?

This was a beautiful story to watch. 6 episodes was not enough. But, not sure if it should have been stretched out just for more episodes either. They have not finished the story with Mom in jail, but we can all guess what’s going to happen with that. They will fins the evidence and rule that she killed her husband to save her son from being beat to death.
This will be filed into my Re-Watchable List & Favorite Pairings Lists. The OST music is all of GMM’s series is always just spot on. I always think they should come out will FULL ALBUMS of the entire musical scores for the entire series including the instrumental scorings involved just like Hollywood movies do. GMM is on that level with their music in series. Great job to GMMTV on this one!

Best BL drama released in 2026 so far

I think we need more serious productions like this. With a very cinematic style, with an emphasis on symbolism, on atmosphere, on moments where words aren't necessary and the actors express their emotions through their eyes. A very sad drama at times, which encourages reflection and deep thinking (especially for believers or ex-believers). The main two characters played their roles incredibly, 10/10. Their actions, personalities, and thoughts were truly amazingly captured. There was this incredible moment in one episode where there was a moment of sexual tension that I've never seen in any other production so well. My only negative point is that there are so few episodes and I think it would be nice if there were more of them, especially since there was a huge time skip in the drama. Fourth perfectly played the role of the "believing" boy who questions his faith. Gemini, on the other hand, perfectly played the role of the "bad boy." Every facial expression carried meaning, every look conveyed emotion. The casting couldn't have been better.
