Not a Movie-but a Documentary

I had high expectations for this, thought it was gonna fill the Yuri On Ice!!! hole in my heart. it didn’t do that at all. this might as well have been a documentary, cause there was barely any chemistry between the main Male Leads, just a lot of time jumps and competitions. This whole movie was clickbait from IG(though I should’ve seen that coming). it’s still unclear if the leads actually like each other at all, so I can’t even call this a BL. The dancing was nice to watch, and the costumes were nice to look at, but I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

This Movie Is Art

Tendance, released today on December 18, is an extraordinary cinematic experience and, without hesitation, a true visual masterpiece. From the very first moment until the final scene, the film never loses its strength or its rhythm. There is not a single minute that feels slow, empty, or uninteresting. On the contrary, it is constantly engaging, immersive, and emotionally powerful.

This movie doesn’t simply tell a story — it makes you feel it. The visuals are stunning, carefully crafted, and deeply artistic, turning every scene into something meaningful and memorable. The dance sequences are not just choreography; they are expressions of emotion, tension, and connection. Each movement feels intentional, alive, and full of passion.

The chemistry between the actors is absolutely captivating. It feels real, intense, and natural, allowing the audience to fully believe in what unfolds on screen. Their performances elevate the film to another level, making it impossible to look away.

By the time the film ends, you are left wanting more — not because it feels incomplete, but because it is so powerful that you desperately need to know what comes next. I sincerely hope there will be sequels, because this story deserves to continue. It has been a very long time since I’ve encountered a film that feels this artistic, this emotionally rich, and this unforgettable.

Tendance is not just a movie; it is art in motion. A rare and beautiful experience that stays with you long after the screen goes dark.

Chemistry, elegance, and sexual tension.

A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR RYŌMA TAKEUCHI AND KEITA MACHIDA. The best film of 2025, no Japanese BL film will be able to surpass the beauty of 10 Dance. I loved the costumes, makeup, music, and especially the dancing and the chemistry the actors radiated.

They managed to convey so many emotions to me, and they made me want to dance, which is saying a lot because I don't like to dance hahaha. They perfectly conveyed to me the passion and dedication their characters had for dance; undoubtedly magnificent.

Ryōma Takeuchi perfectly embodied that fun and relaxed guy; you could feel the Latin vibes in his character. His character was so damn sexy, that hip movement is stuck in my head 24/7, I don't think I can ever get over it. There's no way I'll ever get over it, thank you Ryoma for giving me that beautiful scene. I barely know this actor, but honestly, he didn't disappoint. He did a great job; I loved all his scenes. The moments of anguish and his dancing were perfect. I hope to see him more in future projects.

Keita Machida this man never disappoints; any of his work is a masterpiece. Every time I see him, my perspective on him changes quite a bit; one day he's the typical careless and relaxed Japanese guy (Alice in Borderland), and the next he's a prestigious, strict and elegant dancer. I really liked the parts where he danced, and the natural way he cried and conveyed his anguish and passion for dance. I also liked it when he was sarcastic with the protagonist; it was funny, and seeing him as inexperienced when it came to Latin dancing was hilarious too, LOL. Dear, even though he danced very stiffly, I liked that he tried to move his hips. I have to admit that man looked quite sexy in his role when he got strict with his dance partner; that scene where he forces her to dress in black was so wow! I felt intimidated; my classmate's character was too strong for me to handle that particular night.

Although the ending was very open, it was fine, considering that the film is based on a manga that is still ongoing, it is understandable that they did not give a definitive ending. And I repeat, even though it was an open ending, it was perfect, I liked it, it's much better than other movies with open endings that are then awful. This one, on the contrary, only left me wanting more, wanting to know what was going to happen. I hope they make a sequel with these actors; they nailed it. Personally, I felt the movie was too short, even though it was two hours long.

Beautifully made, but many scenes feel missing. It could have been more beautiful, but the flow breaks in between due to lack of details. There should have been more scenes to connect the moments properly. Until the breakup, it’s hard to even identify whether they are lovers or not—the ambiguity in scenes and communication makes it confusing.
It also feels like one-sided affection. We don’t really get any emotional expression from Sugiki’s side. First, he breaks up, and then after six months, he patches up without any proper communication or explanation, which makes the relationship feel emotionally weak and incomplete

I didn't expect this

What I like most about this movie is the end. Their dynamic as the movie ends is something I didn't know I needed. The open ending, the situation-ship, it was all original. In the first 20 minutes in the movie there was a really raunchy scene with 3 naked women and Shinya Suzuki's ass showing. It made me feel really confused, as this movie was rated 13+ so I thought there wouldn't be anything like that. I think that in the scene that Sugiki chokes Suzuki confirmed (at least for me) that they were no ordinary couple. Something that pissed me off was Suzuki claiming that Sugiki rubbed his penis against his, like it was so un-necessary, off-putting and seemed homophobic. Also one comment about the "latin blood" thing, I thought it seemed a little stereotypical because all he was doing in the scene that "revealed his truth" he was just in an open shirt, dancing and kissing some girl so I didn't really know what that meant. Also I hoped that Tajima and Yagami would kiss but maybe that's just me with my lesbianism. This review is trailing off a bit but anyway, I love this movie, recommend it to queer art lovers and bl fans and even gl fans because this is genuinely beautiful, sexy, intimate and will leave you unsatisfied but only because you want like, 5 more sequels to this movie.

Biggest Letdown of 2025

I will preference this by stating that while I did read the manga and thus am not judging this work solely on its own merits, I did watch this movie with a friend of mine who has never read the manga and our thoughts were in alignment.

The actors deserve praise for the clear amount of work they put into becoming competent dancers. The first 30 minutes of the movie has really gorgeous lighting and overall cinematography. The costume design was excellent. And... That's where my list of positives end.

While better than the manga on this front, the fact is that this movie is racist. The actors did their best to embody their characters as presented in the script, but the script itself is severely lacking. The pacing is awful. Rather than showing OR telling, this film opts for neither. The chemistry between the leads is hindered by a plot that only grows more and more incomprehensible as it wears on until the movie suddenly ends in a shock. In fact, the 10Dance competition, for which the movie is named, doesn't even happen before the movie ends.

I wanted to like 10Dance. I wish I hated it. Ultimately, however, I just want the time I know I will spend continuing to think about this movie's countless failings back already.

No, No, you cannot miss this absolute MASTERPIECE!!

Ryoma - A wave of Passion and Obsession
Keita- A storm of Love to calm Ryoma

If you are a BL fan and go with experiments in BL stories, you cannot miss 10 Dance. What a lovely and different story writer come up with. Lead actors have swallowed their characters completely. You cannot miss a single moment and just crave for more and more. From start to finish you adore the pair and their dancing on the floor and off the floor.

Didn't knew Japanese BL directors will do this wonder and make a movie which is out of box. I am suck in Ryoma's wordings, '2 & 3 & 4...' , the way he breath, the way he dance, the way he move, Gosh, 'm already in love with him. 💓😍

When Keita and Ryoma dance, no one can stop. Their chemistry and rhythm is outstanding.

I didn’t watch 10 Dance. I fell into it—and I haven’t climbed out since. This movie doesn’t ask for your attention; it claims it, grips it, pulls you onto the dance floor and refuses to let go. Every step, every breath between Shinya Sugiki and Shinya Suzuki feels deliberate, intimate, dangerously close. The tension isn’t loud—it’s controlled, restrained, and that’s what makes it unbearable in the best way.

Dance here isn’t performance; it’s confession. Ballroom is elegance barely holding desire back, while Latin explodes with heat, sweat, and hunger. The way their bodies learn each other before their hearts do? Obsessive. The camera lingers like it knows we don’t want to look away. And the silence between them—God, the silence—is louder than dialogue.

This film understands yearning. It understands what it means to want someone through discipline, rivalry, admiration, and denial. The chemistry isn’t rushed, it’s earned, and by the time emotions finally surface, you’re already ruined.

10 Dance isn’t just about love or dance—it’s about surrender. To passion. To obsession. To the undeniable pull of someone who becomes your rhythm. Once it starts, you won’t want it to stop. And when it ends, you’ll crave it all over again. 📌🔥

10Dance: When Chemistry Takes the Lead

I decided to watch this film without any spoilers from the manga or the movie itself, and without reading any prior information about it — and I was not disappointed. The film is truly fascinating, suspenseful, and filled with emotion and sensuality, all of which are expressed through dance.

I am not familiar with the characters as they appear in the manga (I have read that they are somewhat different from their film counterparts), but I really loved the characters portrayed by Keita and Ryoma. In my opinion, their performances were extremely professional, especially when compared to other BL productions I have seen. It is clear that both of them are genuine actors with immense talent.

Additionally, I know that the actors trained and prepared for a very long time to learn the dance techniques, and it is evident throughout the entire film. More than once, I forgot that they were actors and not professional dancers. One of the strongest aspects of this movie is undoubtedly its main characters and their personalities. Suzuki is more energetic, open, direct, occasionally provocative, and more expressive of his inner emotions, while Sugiki is defined by elegance, minimalism, and precision. I was very pleased that the characteristics of their dance styles flowed seamlessly through the entire film, influencing both their decisions and personalities.

The love storyline and the emotions the characters share were truly impressive. The electrifying chemistry between Suzuki and Sugiki was incredible — I honestly haven’t seen anything like it in a film or series in a long time. From the very first minutes, I was drawn into their story and could feel the unspoken emotions conveyed through every small glance, movement, and dance — pride, jealousy, desire?

Even though 10Dance does not include many typical romantic scenes, such as kisses, dates, or explicit +18 content (thankfully), it beautifully portrays sensuality and shows that dance itself can be a powerful form of expression. Sometimes, it can convey emotions more deeply than a simple kiss or the words “I love you.” This was exactly what I needed at the end of this year.

The only minor drawback was the pacing — at times, it felt as if certain scenes were cut short or something was missing, or perhaps the issue stemmed from the translation. (The scene on the stairs before the subway scene particularly surprised me, as it felt as though Suzuki had offended Sugiki.) It’s possible that if I had read the manga, some scenes would have been clearer, especially since I’ve heard that certain plot points were omitted in the film adaptation.

Despite this, I wholeheartedly recommend this movie. As someone who loves both dance and BL, this film was an incredible experience for me, and I truly enjoyed it. I will be eagerly waiting for a sequel if one is planned.

very beautifully made

this movie for me is truly beautifully made , I just adore how the creator integrated this kind of metaphor of making love (yk what I mean) into such a beautiful art. I think its something thats not easy to do but they really nailed it and the acting is on point. I also love the diversity of cultures that were included in this movie and just struggles that proffersional dancer go through on a daily basis. AND CAN WE ALSO TALK ABOUT HOW GOOD THE ACTORS ARE IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH??? like I wouldve really thought they were from these countries if I didnt know the plot.

A perfect 10

I absolutely loved this so here's a list of everything I loved!
-As someone who loves dance already, I think this movie did such a fantastic job of showing the art of different dance styles off!
-The cinemaphotography in this was beautiful as well! I think they did some really cool and beautiful shots.
-The sets, especially the ballrooms & the one studio were gorgeous!
-The costuming was pretty as well. The way the dresses sparkled at the competitions were stunning.
-The chemistry between the two guys, as well as the two girls, was great. I feel like you could feel the chemistry between them right away.

I feel like so much story was told in two hours without it feeling rushed either. It was so well done. You really got to know the main characters, their relationships with each other, as well as their relationship with dance, in only two hours and that can be hard to pull off so well and they did. I liked the ending too. It surprised me a little, but I really liked it.

I would love to know how much training the actors had to go through for this because I think they all did incredible. Maybe they have dance background already, but either way it was incredible to watch! Major props to all of them!

Highly recommend, especially if you love dancing!

Japanese BL at Its Finest !

**Japanese BL never disappoints us. Ever.**
And this one? I am officially **HEAD OVER HEELS**.

This movie delivers a **truly unique story**, something you don’t come across easily. While watching it, I genuinely felt like I was witnessing something **intensely captivating**, almost unreal. The whole experience felt like a **fierce magical creation**, powerful, artistic, and emotionally consuming in the best way possible.

The **emotions** were deep and beautifully expressed, and the **dance sequences**? Absolutely top-notch. Every movement carried meaning, every expression told a story. I am not exaggerating when I say I was completely **obsessed**. This was worth every second of waiting.

There really isn’t much to explain about this masterpiece, because some things are simply meant to be *felt*, not analyzed. Think of it as a **gift**, a blessing dropped into the world of Japanese BL for us to cherish.

There is **no way** you can ignore this movie. It is **beautiful**, **stunning**, and visually mesmerizing. It pulls you in quietly and leaves a lasting impression on your heart.

So if you want to **bless your eyes**, your heart, and your soul with something genuinely good, *this is it*.

Well it was definitely a cinematic masterpiece…

The concept in itself (from what I interpreted) was incredibly compelling. The story of a strict, but very pained grim reaper that emphasizes “too much” on perfection, causing him to become terrifying yet marvelous. The story of an expressive and free angel that emphasizes “too much” on expression, causing him to become captivating yet chaotic. These two stories are intertwined on the dance floor — one that takes a certain kind of passion and resilience, that both of them lack in their respective ways. Their skills and talents only take them so far and the passion they have is for all the wrong reasons. Only when they were together could they unleash their true potential. The reaper learned to let loose and be vulnerable from the angel, and the angel learned there is still structure needed from the reaper. When they both learned that their missing pieces of passion was each other… it was beautiful. However, I was still extremely disappointed with the way the story was handled. I think the lacking story and dialogue is what sent me over the edge because truthfully, the cinematography and acting itself was outstanding. All props to the actors and cinematographers. It must have been such a hassle for the actors to learn to dance like this in the first place for this movie (unless they did not need to) so I honestly applaud that as is. The story felt very rushed and it almost felt as if they were unsure of how to fit it all into one movie. I feel like as a viewer, we should have seen more of them as people, because truthfully, we know very little about the characters other than the obvious. I think it would have been nice to understand their thinking, and to know the feelings behind what was expressed. It would have been nice to understand fully how the relationship developed. I feel like their love story was very rushed and slightly confusing. The story shouldn’t just be left up for our interpretations, while it’s nice, I still feel like it lacks structure. As I’m writing that, I’m thinking maybe that was the point. Or maybe I’m thinking too deep. Maybe it’s meant to lack structure and be left up to interpretation based on raw emotion… but on the other hand, leaving out structure creates confusion…just as the characters in this movie were explaining. I can’t tell how I feel about this movie. I was disappointed by the lack of storytelling and dialogue, but nonetheless, the raw emotion felt made sure it was definitely not a waste of time. If there is a sequel, I would definitely watch. Not so sure about rewatching the first movie, though.
