It’s a light rom‑com done perfectly
I really enjoy Would You Marry Me? because it’s just so cute and easy to watch. Yoo Meri and Woo Joo make me smile every time, they have that natural, soft chemistry that feels real. The funny moments, the sweet scenes, the little looks they give each other. I love all of it. And even though it’s only 12 episodes, every one feels fun and satisfying. It’s the kind of drama that just makes my day better whenever I watch it.Was this review helpful to you?

Cliche rom-com but still enjoyable!
I enjoyed it even though it's one of those cliche rom-com. It had it's charms and faults but can easily look by the faults.I love their chemistry and I was hoping to see more of Baek Sang Hyeon and Yun Jin Gyeong relationship.
Was I the only one hoping to see Kim U Ju give or show Yoo Me Ri the teddy? Or did I miss that? I thought it was a touching piece for Yoo Me Ri to hear her dad's voice again.
Overall it was a good watch and you can definitely expect the cliche white truck, the evil family member wanting to take over the company and so on.

Started well, added too much, and got lost in it
it started as a fun rom com. It really did. But then there were so many storylines dropped into it for no reason. The main characters, the house thing and the secondary couple were all nice. So it had a nice premise, but somehow it felt as if the writer didn't yet decide what genre they want to focus on. And added many other plotlines into the story that were just taking away from the main story without adding much to it.
for me first of all childhood connections didn't add anything, on the contrary it took away the sincerity of their feelings as the attitude changed because of that connection. Though nothing much would have changed without it, if they focused on the main couple more. I think we should start getting away from those childhood connections by now or it creates a feeling that it is impossible for people to meet new people without them being somehow connected in their childhood.
The department store storyline would have been great if it focused on the house, and the main couple. but instead it somehow went into their own struggles. which would have been okay if it was developed and kept the rom com vibe but it wasn't.
And finally the whole storyline with their own company and the past mystery was just taken straight from some cliche detective story. Nothing would have changed if it wasn't there, it took away from the main story so much that i forgot about the house and the main couple for an episode. And it wasn't fully developed and resolved easily.
It would have been great if they kept the focus on the rom-com, and the house, their relationship, funny moments, the old boyfriend, the marriage thing, etc. But it kind of became secondary for me especially in the last few episodes.
saying that, I did like the main couple, love jung so min. I laughed at some scenes making me crave for more comedy, also the secondary couple's story, the Secretary's choices and all was interesting and fun to watch.
These are my thoughts. as much as i try to stay objective it's still always subjective. So depending on your interests you can try a bit and then see if its for you.

it is a super cliché!!
At first it catches your attention because it's something new and "fresh" to see, although everything is already very rosy. It's very disappointing how the ending is too rushed and everything is magically resolved for them, Besides the fact that its "villains" are very boring and forgettable, you even feel sorry for one of them because absolutely nothing goes right for him and nobody listens to him, it stops being fun to watch the series. After the halfway point, you feel like you're watching it out of obligation to finish it.

Predictable romcom with boring leads
I am a big fan of romcoms. So when they disappoint they hit hard. What's with the KDrama romcoms these days anyway? I liked Jung So Min, but she is now so typecast as the goodnatured and kind but gullible female with terrible choice in boyfriends, that it seems everytime producers are looking for such a character as the FL, she is cast. And her wide-eyed mumbling is no longer cute at her age. The drama follows predictable and overused tropes of creating totally avoidable complications to move the plot, with a super annoying ex-boyfriend---who might as well have been the FL's adopted child, the way the relationship is portrayed. Choi Woo Shik, also someone I generally liked as an actor, unfortunately repeats what we see in his recent dramas: inability to create any chemistry with his FLs. By ep. 4, there were no surprises in the drama and I was just looking forward to the second leads' romance. Had the drama been able to develop rapport and connection between the main leads, it might still have redeemed itself despite the sad plot. But the stale and annoying plot, middling performances and forgettable pairing make the whole drama just that---forgettable. I'm going to stop watching Jung So Min's dramas unless she is doing a significantly different role in the future. Dropping it at ep. 8.Was this review helpful to you?
Old, but warm
I know this is a story with old cliches and overused tropes, but it has managed to reel me in from the beginning till now, and I am sure going to see it till the end. Its cliche, but everything from the casting to the acting and music/OST are just so warm. I can continue writing about how excited I am for the upcoming episode or about how I plan to re-watch everything all over once the series is over. AigoooWas this review helpful to you?

Would You Marry Me — Brutally Honest Review
Alright, this drama just ended, so here’s my point-by-point breakdown of what worked, what barely survived, and what absolutely tanked.Brace yourself — some parts are nice, the rest… yeah, we’re going there.
---
💙 WHAT I ACTUALLY APPRECIATED
1. The Chemistry? Insanely Good. Almost Illegal.
Let’s be real here: Chung Woo Sik × Jung So Min carried this drama on their backs like Olympic athletes.
Their chemistry is THAT level — the kind that makes you forget the plot is basically lying in a ditch somewhere.
People always say “good plot but weak chemistry,” like in Love Next Door.
This one? Opposite. Chemistry A+, plot somewhere between C– and “sis, are you okay?”
Still, if future romcoms want a reference on how to do chemistry right? Use this.
2. The Comedy Actually Delivers
Now, ONLY the comedy.
Not the romance, not the emotional beats — literally just the comedy.
But yeah, the early-episode comedy landed well. Clean timing, easy laughs, no awkwardness.
If you came for something light to watch after a long day, the comedy is good enough to keep you alive.

💔 NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT THE MESS
1. Childhood Friends Trope Needs to Be Arrested
I’m sorry but who keeps reviving this dead trope?
Childhood-friends-to-lovers was cute back in 2015. In 2025? It’s tired. It’s dusty. It should be retired with honor.
Modern romcoms hit harder when the characters fall in love as adults — like when they meet for the first time and something shifts.
Here?
The trope adds nothing. Zero spice. Zero tension. Just… predictable nostalgia soup.
2. Useless Subplots That Do Nothing But Waste Time
I don’t know who decided the ex who cheated needed screentime, redemption, AND a cute little development arc —
but girl… NO.
Cheaters don’t need subplots. They need to exit stage left.
These “mini conflicts” were so pointless they felt like bonus scenes nobody asked for.
They took time away from the main couple, the second couple, and basically everything that mattered.
3. Conflicts So Mainstream They Felt Auto-Generated
Look, I get it. This isn’t supposed to be a deep drama.
But when EVERY conflict is something I’ve seen 300 times in other romcoms, maybe we have a problem.
It’s not terrible, just painfully safe.
Safe to the point of “oh okay… sure… I guess that’s happening.”
4. The Second Couple Got Treated Like NPCs
No sugarcoating this one:
The second couple was an absolute disappointment.
They had potential. They had setup. They had energy.
And the drama said, “Cool, anyway, here’s 4 minutes of screentime and no proper arc.”
By the end?
No confession. No payoff. NOTHING.
They were basically decorations.
Biggest waste of potential in the whole show.

the casting and script for 10 stars
Once you finish watching ep 1 , you won’t regret watching if you are rom com drama fans and beautiful story line. I am hard core fan of Choi woo SHIK and also fan of Jung So Min… RomCom King and Queen match for this story line.. I don’t see any castes other than them. The cinematography is beautiful and I like Choi Woo SHIK’s style in this drama ..Was this review helpful to you?
Very Sweet Romance Without Tooth Decay
"Would You Marry Me" is the perfect combination of innocent love, betrayal, longing, and acceptance. JSM and CWS characters' chemistry is so well-balanced that it makes their affection for each other adorably sweet and easy to watch with smiles and giggles. I found myself rewatching the scenes building up to a romance that I believe will not disappoint realistic viewers. It definitely has rewatch value for me.Was this review helpful to you?
Soft Romance, Gorgeous Views, and a Whole Lot of K-Drama Feels
I don’t know why, but this drama is giving me major Because This Is My First Life + Love Next Door vibes — that same cozy yet emotionally tangled energy. The storyline isn’t exactly groundbreaking, but you know what? The cinematography totally makes up for it. OMG, it’s gorgeous! Some scenes look straight out of a travel commercial — especially that 3rd kiss scene (you’ll know when you see it 😏).Jung So-min, as always, delivers beautifully — though I kinda wish she’d experiment with a new genre soon.
If you’re new to K-dramas, this one’s going to feel like a warm, slightly chaotic hug. But if you’ve been around for a while, you might get déjà vu — still, it’s a comforting kind of déjà vu.
✨ Bonus tip: If you end up liking this one, check out- Because This Is My First Life, Business Proposal, Full House (Thai version if you’re adventurous), or Something About 1% (trust me, it’s hot ).
P.S. – The visuals alone are reason enough to watch this one with a cup of coffee and a dreamy sigh. ☕💫
