Unoriginal Yet Irresistibly Charming
Let’s address the elephant in the room. Would You Marry Me? is one of the most conventional and unoriginal rom-com K-dramas to come out in years. If you’re hoping for something fresh, bold, or innovative, this definitely won’t scratch that itch. It follows the classic template so closely that it can become frustrating, hitting every cliché from the last three decades: tragic pasts, overbearing family members, love triangles, and every familiar trope in between. With that said, the real question becomes: “But is it any good?”
If originality isn’t something you prioritize, then yes ~ absolutely. The cast is fantastic, the leads have strong chemistry, and even the supporting actors get enough space to make their characters memorable. The drama is fun, entertaining, and filled with the kind of iconic rom-com moments that are designed to make you smile. The OST also complements the tone perfectly.
In the end, if you want something fresh and innovative, this is probably a pass. But if you’re in the mood for something light, enjoyable, and well-executed ~ or if you haven’t watched dozens of rom-coms already ~ then it’s an easy recommendation. It may not reinvent the genre, but it delivers exactly what it promises, and it delivers it well.

not very impressive
This drama feels like a compilation of every rom-com trope rolled into one. We’ve got the CEO with a traumatic past and lingering PTSD, the financially struggling female lead whose family owns a restaurant, and of course the childhood-connection trope. It’s not a great drama, but it’s not a bad one either—just something very easy to watch, especially with so many familiar faces in the cast. This might be a little controversial, but I have to say it: Jung So-Min tends to play the same character in most of her dramas (with the exception of Alchemy of Souls). She often falls into the role of a woman who’s a bit lost in life, insecure, and using the same pitch and tone in her delivery.

Did I expect more from this plot? Yes. Was it necessary to have an embezzelment scheme in the story? I don't think so. Why did the story spend so much time on the whining and pouting of the ex-boyfriend? He's allowed to return and cause problems but, the writers were bending over backwards to spotlight him. He's not that important.
Why was every pair of glasses hideous?
Why did the director not use the comedic talents of Woo Sik and So Min? Both actors are gifted in physical comedy. But someone was reigning them in. Masquarading as a married couple screams physical hi-jinks and slapstick. I don't think we were given as much as we could have been.
And their love was adorable. That's not exactly a compliment. If they were hoping to be the next legendary, hot couple... I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Don't get me wrong! I prefer PG-13 love over R-rated. But their love was all hugs and head-pats. If I'm to believe this is a tense 'will-they-won't-they,' do something that appears risky.
I didn't hate the show. But I felt that some episodes were a waste of time. I finished them and thought, "Did anything necessary occur in this episode?" If an audience ever thinks that, its a sign that the project did not reach its full potential.

started strong but lost all its charm
I enjoyed the early episodes, but halfway through the comedy basically disappeared. I came for the humor too, so that was already disappointing. The plot turns cliche, predictable and drags a lot, to the point where it feels like you’re forcing yourself to finish it. Honestly, 10 episodes would’ve been enough to keep the pacing in check. The whiny ex also drove me up the wall. I get that they wanted to make him look pathetic, but his scenes were just exhausting all the way until the final episode. The leads are cute together, but I didn’t feel any real butterflies. Even the second lead had potential, but they didn’t develop them at all, probably because it might overshadow the main couple.
The writing is weak and the only thing that kept me going was the fake marriage trope. I really thought this would be the kdrama that proves romcom dramas can still be fun, but I guess not this time.

To me, it's an Ok...When it comes to marriage scams, NOTHING will surpass No Gain, No Love!!! Sorry not sorry...
This had everything to be great, many plot twists that, if well developed, would have made this series wonderful, but they dragged it out too much, which made the plot drag, thus losing the impact of the events. Besides, things got lost along the way, leaving plot holes and more holes in the script.
The main couple is very basic, without much chemistry, boring dialogues... but the secondary couples were wonderful!!!
I really liked the plot twists, but I wish they were better developed, and I think I would have liked this drama more if it had a little more comedy, maybe that would have captivated me more...

The kind of drama that would be so nice to binge on over the weekend !!!!
If u don't like cheesy romcoms with same tropes.. this is not for u.. the show provides what they promised.. don't expect something extraordinary1• I'm SUCHHH a sucker for super cliche romcoms as long as its done right ( And this one is not super cliche but its so good )
2• it has all the elements of a good romcom. No dull moments so far.....
3• Good feel vibe + Nice pacing
4• I liked how the contract trop was displayed ( not in way that shows fl is a doormat)
5• The plot summary says ML's a “logical narcissist”, but so far he has been helpful and good to everyone
6• The acting is great too ( specifically the asshole ex, he annoys me )

Why didn’t they try harder?!
Starting from the story, through the two characters and the music, everything was so so.The story had potential, but was left undeveloped - the grandmother, the second lead, the second family, main characters domestic dynamics, her sister, the aunt.. they all flapped in the wind without much substance.
The main male character was quite basic and woo Shik didn’t put any effort to develop. I find with him that he is either brilliant or mediocre. There isn’t anything in between - the character in this drama is the same character from Our beloved summer or Melo movie !
Jung So Mun generally plays the same character - sometimes the script fits her(like this one!).
The best dynamic here for me had the second lead couple, there was the only chemistry in the drama for me.
Felt rushed and undeveloped for me..

My top comrom of 2025 is the one that made me laugh, blush, and fall in love with every scene.
I absolutely love this drama. Yoo Meri and Woo Joo stole my heart from the very beginning, they’re adorable, cute, and their chemistry is just amazing. Every scene between them feels natural, lively, and full of charm. I also really love Mr. Bark and Jin-gyeong; they bring such warmth, humor, and balance to the story.A lot of fans wish the drama had more romance scenes or even a full 16-episode run, and I understand why, it’s that good. But for me, the 12-episode is still perfect. There isn’t a single dull moment. I laughed in every episode, enjoyed every storyline, and felt the pacing was refreshing, and satisfying.
WYMM gave me joy, comfort, and the sweetest chemistry from start to finish. A drama that’s short, funny, full of heart, and absolutely memorable.

So heartwarming and fun
Watching this drama is like enjoying a perfectly balanced meal, you don’t need to overthink anything because every bite (episode) flows smoothly into the next. With only 12 episodes, I didn’t question or overanalyze each part; I just savored it from start to finish. Each episode is like a little treat: some are sweet with romance, some are spicy with humor, and some are warm and comforting with heartfelt moments. The ending? Absolutely the cherry on top. It’s satisfying, sweet, and leaves you feeling happy and full, like finishing a dessert you never wanted to end. I really loved every single episode, and I enjoyed this drama from the very first scene to the last. Truly a perfect, feel-good binge.

The sweetest and stress-free drama in 2025
This is the kind of rom-com drama I enjoy the most, the kind that makes my heart flutter nonstop. The chemistry between the leads feels genuine, the story balances sweetness and frustration perfectly, and every episode leaves me with that warm, giddy feeling. It’s light, charming, and surprisingly comforting, the sort of drama you can’t help but binge because you just need to see the next adorable moment. Definitely worth watching!!Was this review helpful to you?
It’s a light rom‑com done perfectly
I really enjoy Would You Marry Me? because it’s just so cute and easy to watch. Yoo Meri and Woo Joo make me smile every time, they have that natural, soft chemistry that feels real. The funny moments, the sweet scenes, the little looks they give each other. I love all of it. And even though it’s only 12 episodes, every one feels fun and satisfying. It’s the kind of drama that just makes my day better whenever I watch it.Was this review helpful to you?
