Final Series Review
Episode 12 — and the entire series — ends with the classic “kids’ menu combo” of K-dramas: everything magically works out just because.Would You Marry Me started off badly, then improved in a surprisingly strong middle stretch… and then melted like an ice cream under the sun from episodes 7 to 12.
And just like that… this drama is over.
Episode 1. No Spark, No Charm, Just Another Contract
Choi Woo Shik and Jung So Min are once again playing the same roles — she’s the Korean Meg Ryan, and he’s got the exact same personality he had in Our Beloved Summer. The script recycles the most overused K-drama cliché: the contract marriage. No chemistry, no charm, no soul. Even within its own rom-com territory, this first episode feels flat and uninspired. Hopefully, it gets better.

Started off very strong, and fell flat at the end...
All the actors are so talented and amazing! I wish the script was better because even though I liked the main characters together, I didn't feel much better them. Especially, after they got together.There was some chemistry, but it was too weak.
The drama was also a bit forced. Do we really need these plots in a rom-com? It was rushed and random.
I love rom-coms, but I hateeeeee when the romance is not romancing just because they got together! Where is the yearning, and desire? Why only focus on the drama, and no longer on the relationship?
The second couple was very cute and I wish we had gotten more screen time with them.
I enjoyed the early episodes a lot, but I wouldn't rewatch it again.

A somewhat disappointing comedy despite its cast
PLOT: The FL recorded her wedding with ML2, but before the ceremony, she discovers he's cheating on her and leaves him. She meets the ML (who shares the same name as the ML2) at work. She wins a fantastic house (in the newlyweds' lottery) and asks the ML to replace ML2 to get the house.+++ The CL (Choi Woo Shik & Jung So Min) are very cute, but the chemistry is a little lacking (is it due to the series's format?).
+++ Many excellent actors.
+++ Pleasant OSTs.
### I don't know if it's due to the format (12 episodes) or the production, but everything seems superficial, rushed, and hurried. We're watching a cute story (full of clichés) but we can't connect with the characters :(
### Too many clichés: the childhood romance, the return of the ex who wants to reconcile, the unbearable and greedy in-laws, etc.
=> I really like the two leads but I'm rather disappointed
************************************************
+++ Bcp d'excellents acteurs
+++ OSTs agréables.

A Cliche Romance That Couldn't be Worst!!
I expected a masterpiece but was treated to mediocrity!The reason to start this show was that I absolutely loved Jung So Min in “Alchemy of Souls” & “Love Next Door”. The variability in her choices is exciting, and I was hoping this would be a follow-up. Sadly, the show starts off with a strong premise & interesting characters, but the later half nosedives into obscurity. What started as an interesting romance between star crossed lovers turns into a story with no character growth; the worst part being that the lead couple had zero chemistry. I was more disappointed by their lack of chemistry than the convoluted plot, because Jung So Min is known to have a phenomenal rapport with her co-stars. The supporting characters were annoying, even the antagonists were a major let down. Waiting for the show to end became a weekly respite!

It's so fun, so sweet, and their chemistry is amazing.
I rewatched it after episode 12, and I love it even more.The early comedy made me laugh. I loved Woo-joo and Meri's facial expressions in every episode, especially their interactions. They were so cute and funny. I don't often see this kind of expression from other Korean actors. Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min are truly amazing actors with their facial expressions.
For example, in the scene on the stairs when they talked about their first kiss, or when they signed the house contract at the mall, their cute expressions were so striking. It was funny but also adorable.
And from the middle of the story, when they confessed their love, I enjoyed Woo-joo's love for Meri in every episode. Their understanding, their resolution of their problems, their confrontation with their pasts all made me, the viewer, feel happy.
I'm so glad there's a romantic drama that makes me feel happy at the end of the year. I plan to watch it again during the Christmas break, especially Meri and Woo-joo's scenes, which are the best part of the story. It's so good, so sweet.

With these two actors as leads I thought that it would be a decent watch and it did start out well. I enjoyed the first 5 episodes. But after that, I was just watching to complete it. It wasn't fun anymore. There wasn't much to their story, the two things that stood out were the connection they had as children and the two guys sharing the same name.
This wasn't Jung So Min's best performance either, seemed a bit half hearted. I usually enjoy her dramas.
The second couple stole the show here.
A little disappointed, I feel like they had all the right ingredients but the recipe didn't work.
Despite that, since I am fond of the actors and theme, I might try watching it again to gain a better perspective.

An absolute garbage and a waste of Choi Woo Shik and Jung So Min's talent
this story is absolute garbage. the writer was clearly on heavy drugs, resulting in an incoherent, painful narrative mess. it's a total waste of time. skip this entirely and rewatch the masterpieces: OBS or BTIMFL. if a minus star was possible, i'd give this story a huge -10/10. avoid this writing failure at all costs.Was this review helpful to you?

Disappointing and forgettable
Would You Marry Me? basically feels like No Gain No Love, Because This Is My First Life, Something About 1%, The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract, and Marriage Contract rolled into one, but with none of their charm.I went in so excited for a real rom-com, and the cast had me hyped from the moment it was announced. The first two episodes were decent enough to give the show a chance… but it all went downhill fast.
There were no fresh or memorable scenes to build the romance, the unnecessary childhood connection killed whatever spark there could’ve been, and the show never allowed the relationship to feel fun, giddy, or swoony for even a moment.
I honestly don’t think Choi Woo-shik fits pure romance; he shines much more in melo or action. Jung So-min was good enough, but it felt like a repeat of her Because This Is My First Life character; cute, adorable, but nothing new, and even she couldn’t save the show.
The embezzlement subplot? Didn’t care.
The uncle being behind the ML's parents’ death? How many times have we seen that exact twist? Can we please retire it?
The ex storyline? Just annoying and tonally jarring. Every attempt at humor only made it more irritating.
Ironically, the second couple was the best part of the entire drama. They were adorable, perfectly complementary, and brought the warmth the main couple never quite found. I wish we had more of their scenes instead of all the unnecessary dramatic padding.
Overall, this is a show I watched weekly only because I was bored, not because it was good. I wouldn’t add it to a watchlist, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it. Honestly, I’d rather rewatch Because This Is My First Life; why settle for a cheap parody when the original inspiration did it infinitely better?

Wasted Potential for Stellar Rom-com Lineups
I went into Would You Marry Me with genuinely high expectations, especially because the pairing of Jung Somin and Choi Wooshik felt like a dream combination. I’ve always enjoyed Jung Somin’s romcom performances, so I was excited to see how their chemistry would carry a classic coming-of-age romantic comedy.And to be fair—the chemistry is there. The main couple has a natural charm, and the second couple is equally delightful (honestly, I ended up loving the second leads even more). The cast overall did a solid job, and nothing about the acting felt out of place.
But beyond that… the drama ended up being just okay for me.
The biggest issue lies in the writing. The romance for both couples feels underdeveloped; Wooju and Meri’s relationship is sometimes pushed too quickly, creating awkward moments instead of emotional depth. At the same time, Sanghyeon and Jingyeong had so much potential, yet their dynamic never fully blossoms because the story prioritizes unnecessary external conflicts.
And that’s another problem:
the series leans too much into crime-family-company subplots, which are executed in a somewhat messy way. The ex and his family storyline, in particular, feels like filler—loud, disruptive, and not contributing meaningfully to the characters’ growth. With such a strong cast lineup, these plotlines end up wasting screen time that could’ve been spent developing relationships we actually care about.
Overall, the drama has warmth, charm, and genuinely lovable performances—but the writing and direction don’t live up to the potential. With better focus and cleaner narrative choices, this could’ve been a standout romcom. Instead, it’s a pleasant watch that left me wishing it had made bolder, smarter decisions.

RomCom review
I have been a longtime fan of JSM, and she never fails to deliver. The story is short, simple, and easy to follow. A lighthearted romcom with the right balance of humor and warmth. Some may have expected more, but I think it’s the perfect length without dragging. Lovely pairing and perfectly heartwarming :)Was this review helpful to you?
He said YES…
The drama “Would You Marry Me?” is a light and pleasant rom-com that offers an easy and relaxed viewing experience. It does not rely on a complex plot or narrative layers that require mental focus, which makes it a suitable choice when your mind is occupied with other things.The overall atmosphere of the drama is charming and calm. The directing was smooth and visually comfortable, and I found nothing to criticize visually. The progression of events was also well crafted and fitting for a light drama. However, I do have clear reservations regarding the secondary couple. I feel the writer did not give them enough space to develop their storyline. Instead, the ex-boyfriend’s scenes were excessive, which I personally did not enjoy, especially since he kept chasing her until the very end.
Regarding the performances, the cast did a good job overall, although I expected a deeper emotional layer in some parts. So Min’s acting in particular felt somewhat flat this time, and that made it difficult for me to truly connect with the characters. Still, I genuinely enjoyed the light comedy and the romance presented in the drama, and they were enough to make the experience pleasant.
I will definitely watch more of Choi Woo Shik’s works, especially since I already like So Min and usually follow her projects.

10/10
I love the story, I love the comedy, I love the romace, I love the roles, I love the main couple and even the second couple is splendid.I'm ooking foward for each episode.
I knew that these 2 would deliver a perfect combo and the 2nd ML is also a great actor with so much too offer with his versatility. But the story and comedy is being above expectations.
The actors are top notch with no flaws.
I love it.
+10 ^.^/
