A light, funny, and romantic drama. A light drama, to provide some weekend entertainment

A Korean drama with excellent production, visual effects, and acting. It's a light, funny, and romantic drama, perfect for weekend entertainment. The main cast's performances make this cliché story seem engaging and sweet. The beauty of the female actresses makes your heart flutter, hehehe. I hope there are more light dramas like this.

A cliche story but i enjoyed it!!!

Some of you maybe find it cliche but actually it's best roncom i have seen in end of 2025 year when other's roncom i watch such a meh. The act from FL and ML actually so good. Not many actors/actress can make comedy turn into real comedy without fail and weird. And for the romance it's 💯, watch romance in this drama make my heart full of butterfly.

This drama will definitely be one of my favorites. For 6 weeks, it brought warmth, comfort, and healing into my days. The chemistry between the leads was effortless and natural—it made me want to keep watching them again and again. The lead couple carried such a beautifully calm vibe that I became so attached to them. The OST blended perfectly with the mood of the drama as well. It’s the kind of story that stays with you quietly but deeply. I’ll truly miss this drama and keep it close to my heart for a long time.

Cliche that tripped on its own feet with a sleepy execution!

This drama started as one of those dramas that tried embracing all the cliche tropes you can think in romcom and redefine it, but mostly ends up in the same old direction. It was entertaining until it wasn't. Somehow, it was all so predictably predictable from the start until it suddenly nosedived straight into "convenient plot" territory. It’s lazy writing at its finest.
I like cliches when it is done well, but here it was filler on filler moments that added absolutely nothing to the actual plot or the character development of the leads. It was like they had a solid story in their mind and it started well too and then suddenly they just got distracted by shiny objects.

Let’s start with the lead characters. Yoo Meri, the supposed “independent entrepreneur” who makes decisions with the logic of someone reading their horoscope backwards. She is quirky and crafty, but as we went on, it felt like everything revolved around Wooju. I couldn't figure out her personality or the lack of it. Wooju wasn't much different from her, but he had a bit more depth in comparison with the classic tragic male lead of the kdrama vibe surrounding him.
Their chemistry works in spurts. It is adorable in some scenes but I feel the writing didn't give enough material to really have anything substantial. Somehow, the "rom" and "com" in this romcom were lost and buried in the family drama and the ex overstaying his welcome.

Now, about that second couple… if anyone can find the romance between them, please send it via courier to me. The real issue wasn’t with them as characters but it was the complete lack of screen time they were given to actually be those characters. I wouldn't even call them a couple because it feels like a stretch and honestly they barely developed into one. They had everything it takes for classic strangers to friends to lovers arc, but the writing glossed over the growth or what could have been the growth. For 80% of drama, the SFL pined on the ML, and the sudden shift felt abrupt. And SML was the most interesting character for me here. He had a backstory and something to achieve and prove. But again, not enough or required focus was given to him to justify his arc. Their love story and individual story were such a wasted subplot that actually had a lot of potential.

Coming to the main issue I had was this felt strangely hollow. Like the whole drama is pretending to be emotional and deep but without actually feeling anything. I am not sure how much that line makes sense, but I will try explaining. All the conflicts and the issues they faced came from outside like money problems, annoying ex, nosy side characters, stupid family matters. What's missing is the inner mess and the actual emotional conflict. Where is my self-doubt or quiet realisations that actually make the chaos and the journey not feel performative. The whole time they just reacted to problems instead of actually learning and evolving with them. And that’s the problem or should I say a me problem that I can’t connect with characters who don’t seem to have any inner world.

Another thing was too many arc overload. They opened too many unnecessary threads and somehow didn't have time to wrap any neatly. The supposed villains overstayed their welcome and the family drama subplot was boring. So many illogical things happened just because of plot armour and convenience.

Acting-wise, it was decent. Jung Somin tried her best to bring life to Yoo Meri's character but something just didn't add up completely. It was my first time seeing Choi Wooshik and I feel like this shouldn't be a drama where I form an opinion about him. I did find his portrayal cute and mature, but Wooju as a character was also dull. Baek Nara is a talented actor but he should choose better scripts, a script that justifies his quality acting. Seo Bum June as the ex was caricature-ish and I guess that is how he was written. I didn't like the character but the actor did decent. Other side characters were also fine, though a bit over the top at times, whether it's Wooju's aunt or the ex's mother or sister.

One of the characters i appreciated the most was Meri's mother. I liked how supportive she was unlike the other mothers we have had in the dramaland. It was refreshing to see!

Production screamed money. The houses and neighbourhood were beautiful. The drama had some good OSTs. All I want is you by Seungmin is my favourite from the lot. But I guess aesthetics and good music doesn't matter if the plot is weak.

Overall, what could have been a serviceable romcom somehow became boring and a chore to finish. It's cute at times but it doesn't light up the sky as I thought it will. Will I recommend it? No.

Maybe the expectations were too high, Thus being lead to few disappointments.

“Would You Marry Me”.

Best way to describe the drama would be, "A Fun Tuesday with great music".
Like when it is mid-week and you feel like the day is going to be normal and nothing usual, but it turns into a surprisingly refreshing day. When you vibe to the music as the day feels the same but there is something about the feeling of being refreshed, maybe because the weather or surroundings decided to be bit more positive than usual.

Although there is criticism, maybe because we had very high expectations which may have led to the feeling of being a bit disappointed.
Even though the story was the most basic and cliched out, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would because I expected it to be an average drama, but it was more fun because of my low expectation.

I am not sure if I would have been able to enjoy it this much if it was some other time of the year, but I am glad it gave the feeling of being refreshed, like it didn't consume my energy of watching it instead it left me feeling more energized.

A fun, warm, and beautifully romantic drama.

My two favorite actors have great chemistry together. I couldn't stop smiling as I watched this drama. It's a romantic comedy that I enjoy, and it feels natural.
I enjoy the light drama and warm love process, learning to understand each other and be a healthy couple.
To the lovely couple, Kim Woojoo and Yoo Meri, may your future be filled with warmth, laughter, and endless happiness.

Amazing!

Beautiful story line. A feel good rom com with great chemistry between the two leads. Jung Somin is truly the Queen of chemistry. Watching it on Disney+ from the USA was tough with the delays. But worth the wait. I was surprised how well Choi Woo-shik and Jung Somin look as a couple. One of the only rom coms this year to make me laugh throughout the series. The cactus scene was one of my favorite scenes!

Surprisingly okay, good enough for what it is.. Nothing fancy, nothing new.. A solid cast and strong performances are let down by inconsistent direction and an uncreative script.. The end result is a drama that feels as though the production team’s main goal was simply to finish the whole thing and say goodbye.. I couldn’t help but feel that it could have benefited greatly from a director willing to interpret rather than just record.. A missed opportunity..

While this drama is neither horribly bad nor average, it is a dull mix of stale stereotypes and recycled plot devices.. I am okay with these mid tier, cliche tropes as long as they are used in a way that drives the narrative without overwhelming it, but that balance isn’t here.. If not for the solid cast carrying this poorly written script, this could have been a much worse drama.. That said, it does manage to get pretty good in a lot of parts..

We are all exhausted with the constant reuse of childhood connection tropes, fake marriages, contract marriages and the whole lot.. We keep craving something different.. But, but, but.. Even with all that, I don’t want to be too harsh on this drama.. I guess this whole review is going to sound contradictory.. Because even though I want to join the rest of the voices out there, I honestly don’t hate the drama the way a lot of people did..

Halfway through the drama, it’s pretty easy to guess how the rest of the story will unfold.. Who the antagonist is, how everything connects to his parents death and all of that.. You don’t even have to be smart to predict it, we have seen this exact setup way too many times in way too many dramas.. But then they went and trivialized everything.. The business takeover, the financial fraud, all of it was treated like child’s play.. Everything was resolved far too easily and way too quickly.. There was no cleverness, nothing that made me go, 'Wow, look how they handled that' These were serious crimes.. Hell, the man murdered so many people.. They had a perfectly strong story right there to build toward a solid ending.. Instead of writing a proper conclusion around that, they chose to focus on the stupid fake marriage angle.. I started getting worried when the murder plot and the uncle’s involvement were being unraveled a bit too fast, which obviously meant they were going to waste the last two episodes tackling the ex-bf and those subplots.. And honestly, that was never going to help the drama end on a high note..

In short, the drama was directionless.. Some moments felt like a calm walk through a quiet park, but the rest felt like being lost in the woods without a map.. Things were moving, but there was no goal, they just moved.. Can I absolutely write this drama off as bad?? No, but that’s precisely the problem.. It’s not that there is nothing redeemable here, it’s that the drama never does anything with its redeemable parts.. It has so much potential, yet it simply never delivers on it..

I think a lot of people will agree with me on this, the second couple felt more appealing.. Their story was raw.. There wasn’t really any romance to speak of but the subtle emotions and small, honest moments between them worked so well.. I guess there was more to their story that we could have dug into.. And special appreciation to Bae Na Ra, I want to see him in more projects, hopefully as a lead sometime soon..

Overall, Would You Marry Me is a drama you watch solely for the cast.. While the story is disappointingly uninnovative, it still has moments you can enjoy.. You won’t be shocked by who the villain is, you won’t be shocked by the conclusion, the drama does nothing you haven’t already seen before and done better.. I had quite a lot more to say here about the FL’s ex, her ex-inlaws and her mother, but this has already turned into a rant of conflicting thoughts..

So, this whole monologue was to say that while I have objectively given this drama an 8, whether it deserves that really depends on your emotional response.. I recognize its script and structural flaws and I might find it average if I were to rewatch it on another day.. But ratings are a mix of instinct and emotion and I am comfortable sticking with my 8..

The story and main lead is superrr make people excited

Would You Marry Me has completely exceeded my
expectations. I just finished episode 12, and I’m honestly blown away by how beautifully the storyline is
unfolding. The chemistry between the leads feels
natural and heartfelt, and the emotional moments are delivered so well that they stay with you long after
each episode ends. The pacing is engaging, the
character development is consistent, and the balance between romance, drama, and light humor is just
perfect. Every episode leaves me excited for the next. Definitely one of the best dramas I’ve watched this year!
