The dream of every girl who has been a victim of abuse!

Vertical Drama => Mix of Revenge / hot romance

PLOT: The FL, held captive and abused by her uncle, has a one-night stand with the ML after an incident at her (hated) cousin's wedding. She then disappears, which piques the ML's curiosity and attraction. He does everything he can to find her and get her out of this mess.

+++ Lots of hot scenes, with great chemistry within the CL. The ML (Ke Chun) is very handsome :) as full Green Flag ML.
+++ Overall, a coherent story and a message for girls who are victims of abuse :)

### A few inconsistencies. You have to be forgiving at times! (ᗒᗣᗕ)՞
### I know this type of drama has a limited budget, but FL always wears the same ridiculous shoes (#><)

=> Good vertical drama experience to pass a (long) afternoon.
********************************************************

You know, I just stumbled across this and I have to say, it had me on a choke hold. What is that male lead???. Such beauty, such kissable lips, such wonderful acting, my goodness!
Best short length series ever!!
Like I kept wishing it was longer because i didn't want it to end.
Certainly with the watch, and you don't need to turn off your brain.

My first vertical C-drama:A very deep rabbit hole

SAVE MYSELF – Vertical, Vicious, and Very Much Worth It

How exactly did I get sucked into the chaotic vortex of vertical-format C-dramas? Was it the suspiciously high 8.0 rating? A spirit whispering “just one episode”? Who knows. But what I do know is that this little short-form firecracker had me hooked against all odds. I nearly rage-quit at first, because honestly, the vertical format felt like watching through a keyhole, but once I hit full screen, it somehow became less pervy voyeur and more intimate cinematic experience. What a growth.

Now… The ML Duan Xiu Zi portrayed by Ke Chun. Lord, where do I begin? This man practically lives in a noir filter, permanently dressed in black, puffing on nicotine like it’s oxygen, with the energy of a man who knows he’s 188cm and makes sure you never forget it. Even his bathrobe has a superiority complex. The short and vertical C-drama male lead pool is already stacked, but Ke Chun barely 25 year old came to dominate. And as his MDL profile suggest, he just graduated into full length dramas. Well deserve Ke GE 👏

Duan Xiu Zi is not just a pretty face either, he's got aura. Rich aura. The kind of screen presence that makes your phone overheat and your standards rise. And the chemistry? Whew. Omo, omo. It was giving forbidden smolder meets "I’ll ruin my life for you" energy. I’m already plotting a deep dive into his filmography like a true digital detective. And Yes who doesn't want to peep into the shelf the censor bureau forgot to open!

The plot? Yeah, okay, technically there is one. I think. There’s some revenge. A fallen heiress. And Ken Chun playing the full-time knight in shining designer wear. But here’s the twist: this drama actually has emotional depth. The FL Li Ming Yu isn’t just there to cry and wait for rescue; she claws back at every hand that tried to break her, and it’s wildly satisfying to watch. Meanwhile, the ML goes full savage mode on anyone who messes with her. 10/10 for vengeance-powered romance.

And visually? This ain’t your cousin’s cheap vertical web-drama. You can tell someone finally sweet-talked the investors. We’ve got real lighting (hallelujah), actual set design, a wardobe that could fund a campaign trail, and cars that scream "I cost more than your apartment."

If you’re vertical-curious, this is a great gateway drug. Just remember to go full screen and let the chaos consume you.

A Revenge Story Done Right

This is by far the best short revenge drama that I’ve seen. It honestly felt like watching a very well-made movie. The casting, production, and scriptwriting were all strong. The music and OST were fine, though they did use some familiar K-drama tracks. At one point, they even used a background piece that was also featured in My Demon (another revenge drama).

I never leave reviews on MDL, but this drama made me sign up just to share my thoughts. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it’s rated over 8.0 — I was worried it might be lower. For a short drama, they really put in a lot of effort. I’ve watched plenty of short dramas that make you question why you even wasted your time, but this one is different. The chemistry between the leads was genuinely compelling, their acting was solid, and even the supporting cast delivered well. The storyline was well executed and never felt absurd or forced.

Overall, this drama exceeded my expectations. It proved that even in a short format, a story can be impactful, emotional, and memorable.

WOW

My first review here. Loved this story and the actors were absolutely great! I was hooked before the first episode ended. This should be on Netflix so it can reach more people. I'm an American and I love watching Chinese dramas. The actors had the best chemistry. Loved it!!!! I like subtitles. I don't care for the dubbed voices and AI generated voices. This show had good subtitles that made it so clear as to what was going on. Good translations.

Revenge Best Served Vertically– Short but So Good

Wow, this drama was amazing! Even though it’s short, it doesn’t feel rushed—everything is so well-done. The acting is top-notch. Both leads totally killed it, and their chemistry? 😍 honestly, screen-stealing.Despite its brief runtime, every second felt intentional—nothing was wasted, and the storytelling was impeccable. The acting? Outstanding. Both leads delivered performances that were heartfelt, nuanced, and unforgettable.

What I loved most is that it’s not your usual love story. It’s about falling in love and dealing with all the struggles and emotions that come after. The ML’s reactions to the FL’s past? So real and heartbreaking. The FL is smart, feisty, and complex, and her being an artist adds so much depth. Every painting, every moment, it all tells a story.

The FL was a complex and compelling character—good-hearted yet a strategist, raw yet vulnerable. Her role as an artist added another layer, as her paintings mirrored her inner scars and emotions, making the story even more impactful.

And the ML? A wealthy, devoted, and respectful lead who supports the FL without ever forcing her. Ke Chun nailed the role, embodying devotion, pain, and sincerity. He is just a total green flag—supportive, caring, never pushes her, and just genuinely gets her.

Side characters were equally well-crafted. The FL’s best friend was a genuine pillar of support, and the ML’s brother/friend added depth and nuance to the story. The art competition subplot was also executed beautifully.

In short: this drama is short but unforgettable. The ML and FL chemistry is insane, the story is unique, and it’s just a joy to watch. Definitely one of my top fav vertical dramas! ❤

Intense and Romantic

Overall the story is a good one. The ML and FL do an exceptional job. Ke Chun should be in full length dramas he is SO good. I have to admit his kisses and his love and devotion to Melissa is inspiring. I found the complete drama on Iqiyi under the title "What a Good Girl". A lot of the other streaming platforms only offer a few episodes and then the remainder of the drama is expensive. This short vertical drama is addictive and I will definitely rewatch it many times!

Trigger Warning Abuse

This show probably has a high rating from others due to the acting of the ML and FL which is both well above average for these short vertical shows. But the never-ending stream of abuse, morally gray FL, and how long it dragged the story out makes it lose a lot of stars for me. The whole point of the vertical shows is to be short and snappy so if I'm getting bored with it that really doesn't speak well to the show's overall quality.

For some reason the heroine's predicament reminded me of My Happy Marriage. There is no magic or alternate world, but there is a heroine who takes a lot of physical abuse from family members. I mean this goes on and on and on. It truly is horrifying and serves as part of her Tragic Backstory. If you are into the abuse p/0rn trope I guess this will please you?

But where I have an issue with this story is that at two separate times her cousin is dragged off by her uncle and beaten off screen. Beaten so badly that next time we see her, her face is covered with bruises. We are supposed to be OK with that because the cousin joined in tormenting the FL (but let's remember who ruined whose wedding, please), but let's face it - it is the UNCLE who has made all of their lives a living hell that really should have been the FL's focus for revenge from the start. His kids and wife are also collateral damage.

The FL also has the asymmetrical hairstyle of the FL in My Happy Marriage. After all that, nothing is the same. FL is not some shrinking violet saying sorry all the time. She has an alternate plan on how to destroy her cruel relations.

The story is the strongest when predator uncle is being creepy. It gives a real sense of danger to the FL's predicament and they could have cut 20 eps and really focused on him. Especially when she tells ML why she picked him as a partner. Wow. She knew what uncle was about to do.

Stray jumps, missing information (might have been due to translation?), and the melodramatic Granny storyline are the weakest points of the story. Resolution is dragged out too long. ML saving brother and then sitting around talking in the same area as the fire made me laugh.

What was interesting was the scene where the ML finds out the true state of the FLs mental and physical state from having to deal with a decade of abuse. None of that is sugarcoated and we do get a montage showing him helping her regain her strength and fortitude. More of that please (and forgo all the flashbacks).

Overall, not something I would watch again and I sped through much of it to watch the ML FL interaction.

watched as RULES WERE NEVER HER THING

i absolutely feel in love with this show. Watched the 88 episodes on DRAMABOX.

She's super pretty and calm. He's very sexy and dominant. Love their on screen chemistry. The show peaked my interest and after a few episodes i was hooked. The innocent way she dressed while she was very vengeful, the way he was dressed showed an appeal that showed danger but he's the opposite. The soundtrack is very good, some of my favorite songs. i wish there was more to their story. it would give more depth to the misstatement from her family to her being treated well by him.

the god of kisses

i loved this drama. it was full of surprise twists. the chemistry was great and overall it was engaging and captivating!
zhao KeChun has to be the god of kissing. this man oozes sex appeal and every time he whispers “baba” in his low raspy voice, I melt. i love his acting and and emotional range. glad they finally casted him for a full time drama. I can’t wait for it to air. hopefully it has lots of whispering and kissing scenes. he must look amazing in a generals uniform 🔥😍
the fl was very cute. i saw her in other short dramas and hopefully she will be picked for full lengths once too

Splendid in every aspect!

I had the pleasure of discovering this drama quite by accident while browsing Facebook, and from the very first scene, I was completely captivated. It was evident almost immediately that this production was crafted with immense care and dedication, and I found myself drawn into the story in a way that few dramas have ever managed. Every element, from the breathtaking visuals to the intricately woven storyline, was executed with a level of precision and artistry that truly set this drama apart.

The cinematography and visual presentation were simply outstanding. Every scene was beautifully composed, creating an immersive atmosphere that allowed viewers to connect deeply with the emotions of the characters and the overall narrative. The painting and artistic elements incorporated throughout added a unique and visually stunning layer to the storytelling, enhancing the emotional weight of key moments.

The storyline itself was masterfully crafted, with a compelling plot that maintained its momentum from start to finish. The emotional depth and character development were particularly impressive, allowing the audience to truly invest in the journey of the protagonists. The heroine’s tragic loss of her family was portrayed with such authenticity and sensitivity that it was impossible not to feel her pain. This loss set the stage for a deeply moving arc of healing and redemption, made all the more powerful by the timely and compassionate intervention of the male lead.

The chemistry between the lead actors was nothing short of extraordinary. Their interactions felt genuine and natural, adding a profound authenticity to their relationship that elevated the entire drama. Their ability to convey complex emotions with such subtlety and depth was truly remarkable, and it was a joy to watch their bond develop over the course of the series. The male lead, in particular, demonstrated an exceptional portrayal of care and concern for the heroine. His unwavering support and gentle strength were beautifully portrayed, making his character’s actions feel heartfelt and sincere.

The supporting cast also deserves recognition for their exceptional performances. Each actor brought their character to life with depth and nuance, contributing significantly to the richness of the world within the drama. It is clear that the success of this production was a result of the collaborative efforts of a highly talented team, including the directors, screenwriters, and the entire crew, all of whom deserve the highest praise for their outstanding work.

In conclusion, this drama was truly flawless in every aspect. It left a profound impact on me and has set a new standard for excellence in storytelling and production. I am eagerly looking forward to seeing more works from the lead actors in the future, as their remarkable chemistry and compelling performances were among the greatest strengths of this production. Congratulations once again to everyone involved in bringing such a beautiful and memorable story to life.

When low-budget meets high-drama, you get screen-melting madness

What a saucy, sassy, spicy and succulent show this is!!! Where I initially thought that the goody-two shoes Ming Yu would be a demure. damsel in distress, she turns out to be a bad-ass and knows how to play the manipulation game as good, if not better, than her opponents. Then there’s the man of mystery, the scrumptious and sexy Xiu Zi, who presents himself as a bad-boy but turns out he is just a lost puppy looking for his master.

You could easily imagine whips and chains in a story such as this. Oh right, yes, they did use them as props, but not in bed. So sad.

Ke Chun and Yu Yin provided the visuals and brought their acting chops to the table. Their chemistry is on fire that it almost burned a hole through my screen.

I know this is a low-budget, low-brow kind of drama, but I just can’t get enough of it. Such an exciting and short vertical drama that kept me at the edge of my seat while fanning my face. The only detraction for me is I watched this on iQiyi and god, the English names that they gave the characters were jarring! I could not even! Otherwise, it would be a perfect 10!
