A mess but not in a good way

I really wanted to enjoy it… but no, it just doesn’t work for me.

The characters Maevika and Ai frustrated me the most. Their relationship makes no sense: at the start, we’re told they’ve known each other since high school and that Ai has been attracted to Maevika since then, but after that… nothing. It’s never brought up again. So many ideas are introduced and then completely abandoned, serving no real purpose in the story.

And sorry, but the way Ai is written is problematic. She spends several episodes harassing, even sexually harassing, Maevika… and then, a few episodes later, we’re suddenly supposed to believe she sincerely loves her and that this situation is painful for her? It’s just not believable.

I hate when writers treat their audience like fools. There were so many better, smarter ways to handle this storyline.

The second couple was also completely sidelined: no depth, just a few random scenes here and there. It’s really frustrating because the actresses clearly gave their best, but the directing is an absolute mess.

Even the villains aren’t compelling. The two fathers traumatize their daughters just to win an auction… and then they get away with it, no consequences whatsoever? Not even a slap on the wrist!

And as for Maevika and Ai being “endgame,” I just can’t buy it. Their relationship makes no sense. I love toxic stories, but not when they’re written like this.

I really hope LMSY comes up with a much better series next time.

From Rivals to Soulmates

Harmony Secret is easily one of the standout GL dramas of 2025. The tension between Aiwarin and Maevika is so gripping from cold business rivals to a slow, emotionally charged romance that feels incredibly real. The show does a fantastic job blending corporate drama with deep personal moments, and the chemistry between the leads is undeniable. Every glance, every confrontation, and every shift in their dynamic kept me glued to the screen. The production quality, music, and pacing all elevate the story, and I love how it explores vulnerability behind power. This isn’t just a romance it’s a story about trust, ambition, and finding connection in unexpected places. I’m obsessed!

All Polish No Passion

Production

Harmony Secret arrived with impressive polish and premium production values, positioning itself as one of the year's top Thai GLs. The series boasts glossy cinematography, premium production value, and a strong soundtrack. However, beneath this polished veneer lay significant flaws: awkward cuts, odd shot choices, scenes that felt constructed entirely around product placement, and repetitive flashbacks that undermined narrative momentum. The direction prioritized visual gloss and action over grounded intimacy, ultimately leaving the romance feeling hollow.

Plot

The pilot episode delivered everything fans hoped for—passion, heat, and undeniable potential that garnered over 7.8 million views. It felt sexy and intense, promising a story of fire and boldness that had viewers genuinely excited. Unfortunately, as the series progressed, this initial heat quickly fizzled.

Rather than building on the passion established in the pilot, teasers, and source material, the show devolved into repetitive bath scenes, soft cuddles, and intimacy that felt perpetually cut short or reduced to mere flashes on screen. While LMSY's chemistry remained palpable—oozing from every shared look and moment—the writing and directing seemed to actively hold back from delivering the payoff fans were anticipating.

The story relied too heavily on rivalry as its central conflict instead of developing meaningful tension and character growth. It's clear this director isn't adept at romance, leaning heavily on conflict and thrills rather than genuine connection. This left LMSY's chemistry and acting to carry the full weight of the romantic storytelling, as they were hardly given actual scenes where their characters could genuinely connect—especially outside the bedroom. When they did connect in intimate moments, those scenes were not only cut short but felt so tender they didn't match the intensity level their relationship had supposedly reached. Subplots went nowhere, filler scenes added nothing substantial, and the constant breakup-reconciliation cycle made the romance feel both forced and shallow. Emotional intimacy was consistently missing, with the series appearing desperate to look romantic without actually creating the moments that generate genuine romantic feeling.

By the finale, instead of the power-couple ending that fans would have loved and that could have elevated the entire narrative, viewers were left with more of the same repetitive content that made the series feel like an extended marketing campaign—luring audiences with the chemistry and passion of the pilot, only to deliver what felt like one prolonged advertisement for ponds.

Performance

LMSY's exceptional chemistry and acting prowess carried the entire series. Their longing looks and emotional delivery gave weight to scenes that otherwise lacked substance and fire. However, even these strongest performances couldn't compensate for the director's apparent lack of vision regarding romantic storytelling or the numerous subplots that led nowhere: Mae's father's fake illness, Ai's mother's mysterious hiding, Ai's father's threats toward Yam, and P'G's martial arts skills—all introduced more questions than answers.

Verdict

Harmony Secret succeeded in being thrilling, dramatic, and visually premium, but ultimately proved repetitive, hollow, and frustratingly restrained. It's a series of all polish and no passion. As an LMSY fan, there's still plenty to enjoy—they shine brilliantly in every moment they're given. But as a romance, the series falls significantly short of its potential, leaving viewers with much to be desired and little satisfaction for their investment. All in all LMSY deserved more and so do we.

LMSY BEST ACTING ACTRESSES

Thai GL of the Year!

Harmony Secret opens with a powerful first episode that immediately captivates through its refined visuals, emotional undercurrent and undeniable chemistry between Lookmhee and Sonya. The story begins with two women CEOs bidding for a major concession, clearly entangled in personal history. Aiwarin’s composed presence contrasts with Maevika’s ambition, creating tension that peaks in a bold bathroom scene. Every visual choice feels intentional, with elegant set designs reflecting character depth. The music and silence are masterfully timed, heightening emotion without overstatement. Their dynamic is mature and grounded, making the storytelling feel authentic. It’s a strong, memorable start that sets high expectations.

too many subplots, not enough time.

i was really excited for harmony secret since lmsy is one of my fave couples, and i loved the idea of having a strong supporting couple too. unfortunately, the show tried to do way too much in too little time, and it ended up dragging the whole thing down. even the main plot (the auction) started feeling confusing by the end. even as a big lmsy fan, im surprised to see everyone giving this series a 10…

the pacing was the biggest issue — they crammed in so many subplots that almost all of them fell short. it needed either more episodes or a tighter focus on just the main storyline. lmsy did an amazing job with what they had though. their chemistry is always off the charts and they still remain some of the best girl kissers out there lol. lillybelle were also really good, and i’d love to see them lead a series soon, but their development felt rushed. their reconciliation in the finale especially didn’t feel natural, and their relationship leaned way too heavily on mae & ai’s instead of standing on its own.

production-wise, no complaints. the visuals, ost, styling, and cinematography were flawless as always. everything looked amazing. but the finale? completely disappointing. the father’s sudden change of heart, the villain and everything he did, the bidding auction, the awkward “love scene,” the unnecessary second breakup ten minutes before the ending, and ai feeling like a totally different character — it was all rushed and unbearable at times.

my least favorite part was how many subplots went nowhere (mae’s father faking being sick, ai’s mother hiding, ai’s father threatening yam, ai’s initial assertiveness in pursuing mae). so much setup, zero payoff.

overall, harmony secret had great acting and flawless production but was let down by poor pacing, wasted subplots, and a finale that felt messy and rushed.

So...way to toxic and loud bgm

I really wanted to love this drama because LMSY are very good actresses and have incredible chemistry, however the story was a complete mess. Firstly, Aiwarin's character did a whole 180. At the start of the series she literally sexually assaulted Mevika and it was supposed to be romantic?, I was supposed to like that?, like why are they romanticizing assault. Not to mention she also drugged her, but apperently everyone forgot about that bc it was never mentioned again. Then later around the 4th episode she was so inlove with her?, i honestly didn't understand when liking became love bc it was so rushed. It was never clear when they fell in love and watching it i felt like they didn't even like each other just using one another. Secondly, the bgm annoyed me so much bc it didn't match the scenes at all. The music was very thrilling and scary while the scenes were just drama, which made me want to watch it on mute. Therefore, I decided to drop it after the 6th episode it was way too toxic, rushed, annoying music and unlikable characters (also as I mentioned one of the other key reasons I stopped watching is bc to me they were not in love)

After all these points I would like to say that LMSY are very good actresses and it was visible even in this series.

could be saved with re-edits

I'm gonna try to avoid spoilers. Good points first: LM is a phenomenal actress. Sonya isn't far behind. Lilly and Belle have great potential.

onto the rest:
The sound engineers seem to not trust the actors and pasted such loud dramatic music over every scene that i contemplated watching on mute. At times it felt like music and show are two different genres- telenovela v serious drama.

standing close in an elevator isn't tension. and kissing someone uninvited in a bathroom is anything but romantic. forced closeness isn't hot.

The father stories didn't add anything and could have been reduced to two moments of them saying "this project is important".

The director was meddling too much with LMSY physical acting. They have a natural chemistry and way to interact. and i am not just talking about intimate scenes. When LMSY walk around an event the way they move in sync and hold hands is beautiful. Sure in the beginning of the show their characters can't be close like old friends. Whoever told them to move a certain way or tone things down did them an injustice.

The side couple was done dirty. if you invent a relationship that wasn't in the source material you have to put some serious work in. This one was messy, full of holes and not fleshed out. Yam does some things which never get fully addressed. So the relationship doesn't feel cemented or her character serious enough in her feelings toward G.

Product placement... it's part of any GL. it's existence doesn't bother me. however in the final episode something horrible happens and almost immediately after they advertise some face cream. can't get more tone deaf than that

giving 5.5 because it wasn't bad enough to drop

I had high expectations for this series, as reviews are high, and I had watched the affair series. But after watched this series, quite disappointed. The storyline overall ok, but some parts too exaggerated and too dragging. 2 main leads' chemistry are good, but why both of their nails always so long? The director doesn't know how to shoot gl series?

Good If You Don’t Think About It Too Much

Harmony Secret is a entertaining show that kept me at the edge of my seat. The performances are amazing and LMSY chemistry is top notch like always. However, this show is really unnerving once you notice the prevalence of SA in it. Also I’ve heard many people say the show completely tarnished the book but I did not read the book so I cannot speak on that. So my advice to watch this show is to shut off your brain and enjoy it on a purely entertainment level. But if you are triggered by depictions of SA, you should not check this out.

A Captivating Masterpiece: "Harmony Secret" Review

"Harmony Secret" has emerged as a remarkable Thai drama that has left audiences thoroughly enthralled.

The plot of this drama is nothing short of brilliant. Set against the backdrop of high - stakes business rivalries between two powerful conglomerates, it seamlessly weaves in a tender and passionate same - sex love story. The two female protagonists, May and Ai, are not only engaged in a cutthroat battle for a multi - billion - dollar duty - free project but also gradually fall in love, creating a story full of tension, intrigue, and romance. Their complex emotions and the numerous obstacles they face in both business and love make the plot highly engaging.

The acting performances of the lead actresses, Lookmhee and Sonya, are outstanding. Lookmhee perfectly captures the confident and proud demeanor of May, while Sonya portrays Ai's calm and affectionate character with great finesse. Their on - screen chemistry is so intense that it is almost palpable, especially in their emotional scenes and intimate interactions, which draw the audience deep into their relationship.

Technically, the drama is a marvel. The high - quality cinematography showcases beautiful scenes, from luxurious business settings to cozy private spaces, enhancing the visual appeal. The editing is smooth, with well - timed transitions that keep the story flowing at a perfect pace. The music, too, is a great addition, with melodies that match each mood of the scenes, further immersing the audience in the drama.

In conclusion, "Harmony Secret" is a must - watch drama. It successfully combines a well - crafted plot, excellent acting, and top - notch technical elements, setting a new benchmark for Thai dramas.

One of the best GL dramas but...

Like my title says, it's probably one of the best GL's that i've seen but that being said there are some obvious issues with it. It starts off better than it ends with the two leads meeting during school and having a cute competition that leads to one lead pining for the other and the other wanting to win against the other lead. That being said, they don't actually interact with each other until later as adults. Towards the middle of the season I found myself skipping ahead over the boring stuff until in the last episodes I cut out so much that it was essentially a trailer instead of an episode. That being said, the soundtrack was good and i'm going to download some of the songs so I can listen to them again and it made me curious about the other drama, affair, featuring both leads as I think they acted very well with what script they were given.
