The happy ending felt a bit forced. I was actually hoping for a scene where Hayakawa meets Yamashita again—I wanted it to be more dramatic.
As for the acting, no doubt there, they all nailed it.

I Yearn for a Second Season…
This show will be a little above “okay” if there’s a follow up season…Why?
The ending feels so rushed and we didn’t get to see the characters “experience” each other in a romantic way.
I don’t even know where to fit this on the romance chart because it was all just angst from episode one to the last.
Oh, we did get some crumbs of almost-romantic moments but how is that even all we get?
Overall, it’s not a terrible watch but more episodes would have even made it recommendable.
You can watch it but don’t expect too much.

Not a fluffy romance but fucking great
If we see japanese bl then don't much focus on romance. They slowly developed the character and make them. Understand each other and make them fall in love. Tbh i was so angry when i was their communication effort. Neither of them are sharing what they are feeling especially about their feeling for each other. Japanese bl is very underrated and i know japanese bl doesn't get the hype it deserves. Not everybody can love this kind of intense gay love story coz these people are obsessed with NC scene, toxicity and unnecessary drama. If u see to my shore, abo desire, bed friend, 2togethor, my stand in, big dragon, unforgotten night, top form, my stubborn and list goes are very popular but their story literally sucks. But story of j-bl are always top tier but it doesn't get the hyped like u should get. I am not talking about bl only even straight series are less popular in comparison to korean and chinese. Idk why, maybe they care about releasing j-bl in international OTT platform like Netflix, Disney, HBO, peacock. They don't even release promo in YouTube. I wish they will do more marketing so j-bl deserve hype. Maybe people doesn't care about those series where lead pair doesn't do queerbaiting fan service. If we see except japam every country are focusing on queerbaiting. Even Heated Rivalry cast are queerbaiting. Obviously i hate fan service, especially those straight mfs. Anyway if story is good then they should deserve the popularity. I really liked this series intense story, understanding and supporting each other, great acting. My obsession with good story in bl series fucking intense. Whoever enjoy watching j-bl series lets make jbl famous as fuck. Was this review helpful to you?
A narrow aperture to their story that gives you a deep depth of field!
As expected, Depth of Field has stunning pictures, some of the most beautiful shots i've seen in a while, with sharp colours and this sense of mystic reality. It is emphasised a lot in the scenes on the rooftop that feels surreal by how breathtaking they look and yet....they are real. While the story lacks a bit and defintely feels somewhat rushed, especially in the second part of the drama (but that is expected as to the number of episodes) the acting which was really good and the visually pleasing sceneries makes up for it, at least to me! The story started well and although the characters might feel a little hollow per moments, there was an underlying message throughout the entire drama that I appreciated a lot : stop hiding and punishing yourself for who you are and what you love, just do it and be true to yourself!
A narrow aperture in photography tend to give you the deepest depth of field, meaning everything becomes sharper and in focus and I feel like this kinda summarises their story! I think Konno helped Hayakawa regain focus on what really matters to him and that helped him fully accept his love for music and that regardless of the past, music will always be IT for him just like photography will always be IT for Konno. And in between all these self-discoveries, they found themselves and fell in love and i'd lie if i said i was 100% fine with how it all went down but considering the little 5 eps they got, i think they did a good job.
Overall, Depth of Field is a nice short drama with scenes that will leave you gobsmacked by how pretty they are...look at it as an array of quick snapshots of Kono and Hayakawa's lives.

Short and cute
This BL was kinda slow but it was cute. I don't really like it when a show main couple get together only the last episode but it is whatever. I feel like they could have done better but with the time constraints it was okay I guess. It is a chill watch. Nothing out of the ordinary but still managed to make it interesting. Was this review helpful to you?
A well done adaptation
This is a cute drama, very easy one time watch, the actors are gorgeous and the atmosphere is sweet. When I read the maga a while back, there were some things about the story that I didn't like and almost didn't continue reading it. But Hayakawa intrigued me, I needed to understand why he acted the way he did so I finished it despite the upsetting events.
I am so happy that this version changed those things thatI didn't like and other than that they stayed very true to the source material. I was left wanting more in both instances, the story feels incomplete somehow and also I expected the music to be better, as Hayakawa is described as such a great musician, but still it's sweet and worth the watch.
I don't think I would watch a second time, but I would recommend it to friends.

Short but deep beautiful story
I love how jbl always have short but deep series. This drama is one of those you can put in your sweet spot. I'm definitely going to miss these two and feel like a proud mom for both of them growing up and thriving in life with their each passion and love for each other. At first hayakawa (high school) is such a questionable and a bit freaky character tbh, this kid is really something and him got repression made his mental breakdown all over the place and I'm glad he met konno who help him overcome his feelings, if he doesn't meet konno, his life will completely different and could be worse in some case. Some people may find his behaviour and his past has no correlation, but in my opinion child psychologic can be extremely complex and difficult to understand. I guess that's what the series is trying to tell us that what we do or did in the past can drastically changes someone else lives.
This may be different but I kind of like how they change the ending about konno go to NY and hayakawa and his band on their away getting some record deal. It's means that both growing up and dreams are starting to come true but yes the cost of this is they have to ldr for a while, which is sad but life keeps move on but both still so young and we'll leave our imagination for their future. Like some people said, your life is not only involves about your partner but also about your journey about your dreams.
Other than that, love the music, visual, cinematography, and the location are gorgeous. I'm still trying to find the original background music to add on my playlist because it's such a beautiful piece. If you guys can find it, let me know! ☺️

Lovely, but not as deep as what is implied in the title
I love Japanese BLs and their addiction to soft, tender, and somehow heartbreaking love stories. At first, I understood that the title is connected to one of the camera’s elements for capturing a nice photo, which is the passion of one of the MCs. Yet, as the story progresses, it slowly loses impact as it inconsistently maintains a well-balanced pacing.I know that both characters are gentle in their own ways, but I also want them to be more aggressive or express more emotions, especially when they are reunited after the three years' time skipped. The lack of romantic scenes, with the ending of the story right after they finally became a couple, was a wasted opportunity.
I want them to kiss so passionately, and we almost got it from the finale, yet they decided to cut it to the exciting part. The chemistry was underutilized. Nevertheless, both actors performed well. They are both so handsome and pleasing. The rooftop scenes were always so beautiful with the touch of sea and clouds as the background view.
The rooftop was their sanctuary.

Was this review helpful to you?
Resenha
