I read the manga before watching this and I think that the director ruined almost everything of the og. The cast was fine. But the story, the characters, I cannot feel the soul of the og manga in this, it gave totally different vibe. It feels like a fake copy of the og. Such a waste of a good story

Something went off

İt was good from the beginning, and very enjoyable, the thing I didn't understand is how they choose to end it, it's a bit inconsistent because the main thing that moves the story is basically emotions.... Strong emotions, but somehow the drama missed a heart.

I won't spoil anything, trust me ... The story starts with high school boys, one very intrusive and another very timid, their memories of the same moments are very different, understandably of course, then years later .. they meet.
Natsuo! My sweet sweet child!!! Why are you so stupid 😂 I mean he is the purist person ever existed, even when he sulks and get angry he is still innocent, by the end of the show I really want to slap Hiro.... Oh yeah!! The "bullied" character deserves a slap!!! He got it so hehe, and that's why I could stomach the end.

I believe it's all because of lack of communication, if both were slightly brave to explain why they are doing what they are doing, or at least ask the other person about the reason behind their actions, it could have been a better love story.

Overall nice watch, Natsuo beautiful sunshine smile worth every second I spend watching it ❣️

What I thought of the series: I liked the series. It's fun to see a more mature BL with grown-up people. To see love creeping up when you didn't expect it at all.

Went downhill after episode 1

I watched this while it was airing. The episode 1 was soo good i was like I'm gonna wait till it's done and then watch if cz i don't wanna torture myself with curiosity.

So i watched after it aired🙃 and damn i am soo disappointed. The acting is good, the direction... well it's above average and the plot had potential but from episode 2 it kinda lacked the emotional depth. The episodes had no progress in the plot it from ep 2 to 6 it was like they were just showing their past.. they didn't show hiro falling in love properly nor did they show his conflict of guilt and revenge... and even after he realised the truth there was no redemption. They kinda just got back together. Also natsuo... i get it's his personality but it was like he had no other personality other than being a hyperactive pushover. No matter what hiro or anyone did there was not a hint of sadness or anything. So it was like ep 1 hiro decided to date natsuo for revenge... ep 2 to 6 it's just them dating and glimpse of the past which was repetitive.. ep 7 natsuo realised the truth ep 8 get back together. It was as plain as that. I just forwarded the whole thing.

I won't say it's bad but it was not good either. Not watching it won't make a difference.

Overall, A DECENT SERIES

Once more, a surprising “top.”

I thought it was good, but I was, constantly, annoyed by the lack of communication when they were in school together. I guess a lack of communicating feelings is the ingredient in many of these stories which is the main source of all the drama. It can be frustrating, though, while watching.

Overall, it was watchable. The chemistry was decent and the leads were very good, as were all the cast members, as well as the direction.

So far it's okay...and slowly improving...

I don't want to write a series review until I have seen it all, so I'm focusing on episode reviews instead. Having watched through EP 4, I would argue the show is actually getting better with each episode. Do the actors have chemistry? Maybe, but there's no reason any sense of chemistry should be apparent yet. By the end of EP 4, the MC is only starting to fleetingly feel anything toward the ML beyond annoyance at ML's ongoing audacity to insert himself in MC's life. I may update this overall review in the end, and I'll definitely update my rating, but I'll just keep focusing on leaving episode ratings and reviews until I complete the series :)

I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS…

… but I HAVE to for this ABSOLUTE GEM of a BL series! I won’t get into the details too much, however I will say that I could probably write an entirely new novel based solely on this series, just so I could keep revisiting the story and characters. I’ve watched sooo many BL series, and tbh it doesn’t take much to end up on my watchlist, but “The Proper Way to Write Love” pleased me beyond my expectations. Now maybe bc I was bullied a bit in middle/early high school, I totally understood the initial revenge plot… but personally I would have handled the situation a little differently (then again, we are talking about a fictional storyline here, so it’s all irrelevant). Anywayyyy, the only thing that could have made it better is if it had 2 more episodes; to really show us the CP’s sexual chemistry more, and then to give us a lil more of their story after all the drama ended. I’d give anything to see a South Korean &/or Thai remake of this series (Thai especially, bc on average they like to give us 10-12, 45-60+ minute episodes).

BOTTOM LINE: IMMEDIATELY ADD THIS SERIES TO YOUR WATCHLIST, THEN STOP EVERYTHING ELSE YOU’RE CURRENTLY DOING TO START EPISODE 1!!!

When Hate Turns Into Love

The Proper Way To Write Love isn’t actually as bad as some people claim, but it does have noticeable plot holes, and a few scenes feel pretty boring.

I know it’s fiction, but part of creating a good series or movie is making the storytelling believable. That’s why it felt unrealistic that Natsuo was already into Hiro from the very first episode. Even if he said it was “love at first sight,” no normal person would ask a stranger to date them the second time they meet — that would probably freak anyone out.

Another thing: they’ve already hung out several times and even dated, yet they still haven’t exchanged phone numbers? That just doesn’t make sense. And I still don’t get why Hiro pretended his hand was injured when the show never explains how it supposedly happened — especially since he was faking it. Even though the series is short, there are fillers and scenes that don’t really serve a purpose.

I did enjoy the rivalry/love triangle in episode 5, though. It added some much-needed spice to the story. And honestly, I have to admit that I enjoy dramas like this just as much as I love wholesome, fluffy ones.

It’s pretty shameless that Hiro’s former classmates are still criticizing him even though they’re already adults. They still act like high schoolers, which feels unbelievable to me. Conclusion: I see the series as a revenge story with a twist: Hiro ends up falling in love with Natsuo. The plot may start with revenge, but the genre evolves along the way — and I really love Hiro’s character growth. Natsuo, on the other hand, is a walking green flag. Hiro probably just misunderstood him back in high school.

Overall, it’s a watchable series and good for killing time, but nothing groundbreaking.

Boys Love Over Flowers

I can love cliche plotlines. I can enjoy cheesy moments. But I can never handle terrible acting, especially from almost everyone in the cast. I'm sorry but there were no chemistry between our main leads. The lack of it made me cringe during their intimate scene.

Also, if you're going to use cliche plotlines and cheesy moments, at least make the minor (but relevant) details realistic. No way would a nicely shot photo of your lover's smartphone that is featured in an article. which your co-worker coincidentally had in her notification, let you know where your lover is at that moment.

In addition, the music is so bad? A lot of it sounds like cafe video game music. Good thing they toned this down during the latter half of the show.

Anyway, the only parts that made this bearable were the birthday date episode (which was cute), Iwahashi Genki in glasses, the "reveal" part, the flowers & gardening parts, and the fact that this show only has eight 25-min episodes.

All in all, not a must-watch, but I won't stop those who are interested in watching it.

Is the 'Love' in the room with us?

This series mystifies me, because I think it was filmed beautifully, but the story is like a soggy novel. I'm not really sure what the final messaging is, or what their story was supposed to invoke emotionally? I feel like the resolve between the two was flat; there was no conversation or resolve. I feel like there needed to be something more substantial to take us from the fall out of misunderstandings, to the intimate scene.

I don't also understand how Natsuo never knew that Suzuki was Hiro. Especially if Hiro was his first love? Natsuo as a whole was a flat character, who really didn't have a story outside of being with Suzuki/Hiro. We never really got to see his side of the past or understand what happened before he met Suzuki.

Also, one thing that was glaringly obvious was the way they were supposed to be cutting and styling hair, but nothing was ever really different. I guess we were just supposed to use our imaginations or something, but it took me out of the story a few times.

The takeaway: The actors were great, but the story wasn't unfortunately. This was definitely NOT the proper way to write love.

natsuois smile just took my breath away and hiro's dimples made me melt. Storyline was a lil nonsensical but you can just enjoy it for what it is.
