No angst, no extremely evil characters, no overdramatic FL or an extremely unrealistic ML.
Just a simply and lovely romance with good acting and enough drama to keep the thing going for a couple of hours.
Acting is great here, if you are familiar with the ML you will know you are going to watch some good acting, the FL was nice too so it was nicely done.
The whole story is cliché which is the norm with VDs but this is one of the good dramas.

Lovely romance
I’m giving this a perfect score on my vertical drama standards. I absolutely enjoyed this. Story is definitely typical of rich guy poor girl so not exceptionally unique. Writer though stuck from start to end in wonderfully developing the building of their relationship without unnecessary disruption of side stories or third wheelers. ML had no one else but her once he fell and likewise, she managed their secret office romance without silly misunderstandings. They were professional at work and perfectly aligned personally. First cdrama where two consensual adults had no coyness about skinship, and it is so welcoming and hope to see more. So if you are up to a story where actors are mature and pointed, while giving fluff to the way of the heart in their relationship, this is a good one. No not overly fluffy as it’s slow burn but meaningful enough and engaging. Was this review helpful to you?

If you ignore the romance part, it was good.
I watched this as someone who had experience laid off when i was sick. So I will make review based from FL perspective.FL has no privilege. She's just like us—an unlucky person who gets laid off on her first day of employment, an ordinary person who stays up all night working on a proposal. Her story begins in the depths of despair and is completed through resilience. I like Liang Wenjing acting in here. It feels natural without being over cute in no place.
This drama is very well-made, especially the workplace scenes. Although there are some dramatic exaggerations, the set design is excellent, and the characters' development is clear. Many working professionals who watched this drama must have felt a jolt of unease (including me). The overly realistic plot created a strong sense of discomfort, especially the scene where they congratulated someone with sex, was particularly triggering. I want to tell young girls be very careful when you encounter this kind of so-called mentor in the workplace. This drama shows difficult for young women to discern whether a powerful figure's success is due to age, position, or love. Once you have a relationship with a powerful figure, all your hard work will be erased.
The cons is the romance part; Zhao Tingyi almost didn't show any chemistry with Liang Wenjing. It feels Liang Wenjing trying hard to build up the chemistry but Zhao Tingyi builds some invisible wall for her. Don't know why Zhao Tingyi skills in here kind of being nerfed. If the chemistry were there, it would be more better.
Still recommended to watch.

I really enjoyed this drama. While the rich guy poor girl setup is not new, the strength lies in how thoughtfully the relationship was developed, with no unnecessary side plots, third wheels, or forced misunderstandings. Once the leads fell for each other, they were loyal, mature, and professional, both at work and in their personal lives. It was refreshing to see two consenting adults comfortable with intimacy and honest communication. The romance is a slow burn but meaningful, warm, and engaging, with conflicts resolved calmly and respectfully. I loved the chemistry, the maturity of the characters, and how they supported each other’s growth. Truly a perfect match and a drama I would happily rewatch.
Ruan Chao Yang stands out as a particularly well written female lead. She is ambitious, hardworking, and determined to succeed on her own merits. The drama places real emphasis on her professional growth, not just her romantic journey. Even more commendable is the inclusion of a female mentor, something rarely shown on screen, which adds depth and realism to her development. Instead of portraying her as either already self made or perpetually studying, the story shows her actively building a career step by step.
Cheng Huai Zhou complements her arc perfectly. He supports her without overshadowing her achievements and believes in her potential without trying to control her path. Their relationship feels like a true partnership rather than a rescue fantasy.
Overall, Starlit Heart is a warm, feel good drama with strong writing, mature characters, and excellent chemistry. It balances romance and career growth with surprising elegance for a short vertical format. Meaningful, engaging, and emotionally satisfying, this is a drama I would happily rewatch and confidently recommend.

Coming of age
Not gonna lie, I watched this drama specifically for Zhao Tingyi, but really liked the underlying theme of the female lead’s journey. She was very sweet but not weak even when she was younger and still a bit naive in a lot of ways. The scene with the pet dog was adorable. Jason and Patty were both really good supporting characters too. Bravo 🤩Was this review helpful to you?
