Ji Sung plays Lee Han Young, a corrupt judge who works for the powerful. Having compromised with power and repeatedly handed down unjust rulings, he returns to his days as a solo judge from 10 years ago after facing an unexpected event.
This transforms him from a henchman of evil into a judge who charges toward justice.
Regarding his reason for choosing The Judge Returns, Ji Sung said, "I felt that it wasn't simply a story criticizing a particular case or target, but one that delves deeply into the question of what kind of person makes the right choice." "I wanted to portray human conflict and introspection, and I decided to join because I believed it was a project capable of posing meaningful questions."
He also cited the "change in values" that Lee Han Young experiences after returning 10 years ago as the drama's highlight: "The gap in which the same person abandons a relationship with ruin and begins a new one under the name of justice — embracing completely different values — is the most important aspect of this character."
The actor also highlighted his synergy with Park Hee Soon (playing Kang Sin Jin), who appears as an antagonist, and Won Jin A (playing Kim Jin A).
