The new comedy K-movie Wild Sing has surpassed 1 million moviegoers on its 18th day since release.
According to the Korean Film Council, as of June 20, Wild Sing has exceeded 1 million moviegoers. Since opening on June 3, the film had consistently remained among the top performers at the box office.
Wild Sing tells the story of TRIANGLE, the trio who once swept the music industry but disbanded due to an unexpected incident, and now attempt a comeback after more than 20 years.
The K-movie stars Kang Dong Won, Park Ji Hyun, Um Tae Goo, and Oh Jung Se, among others.
The strong buzz surrounding the film even before its release also helped fuel its sustained box-office success. The music video for TRIANGLE's "Love Is" surpassed 4.14 million cumulative views on the Lotte Entertainment YouTube channel as of June 19. The songs featured in the film also made their mark by charting on Melon HOT100.
In particular, Choi Sung Gon's (played by Oh Jung Se) "I Like You" quickly spread across social media, further bolstering the film's popularity.
Numerous actors and singers joined in the challenge, including Ryu Seung Ryong, Lee Sung Min, Kim Seon Ho, Park Bo Gum, TWICE's Nayeon, aespa's Winter, IVE's Jang Won Young, and BOYNEXTDOOR's Taesan.
With the 1 million admissions milestone now reached, it remains to be seen whether the film can gain even greater traction and sustain its long-term box-office run.
