Jeon Hye Jin and Jin Goo are locked in sibling rivalry in 'Reborn Rookie'
Lee Jun Hyuk has been confirmed to star in SBS's new occult horror K-drama Awakening.
Awakening is an occult exorcism-themed horror series set in entrance exam hell — a world filled with jealousy and desire. As students, obsessed with raising their grades, are tempted by stimulants and awaken frightening abilities. They begin to hear the voices of the dead and witness their friends start dying one by one. As exam hell turns into a playground for evil spirits, an exorcist priest stakes his soul to save the children.
On January 28, SBS announced that Lee Jun Hyuk will star as the lead in the new occult series. He will be seen as Antonio, a newly appointed priest at Seongryeong High School. A man who sparks students' curiosity and unease, Antonio is, in fact, an exorcist priest ordained by the Vatican's Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.
Despite seeming indifferent on the outside, he possesses delicate and keen instincts, along with a warm sense of empathy. He is a person who has walked the path of a seeker, faced horrific and terrifying situations alone, endured pain and loneliness, and always prevailed in battles against evil spirits.
Sent to Seongryeong High School to investigate evil forces, Antonio comes to see bizarre incidents, and he plans to risk everything to pursue the one who thrust the children into the deadly race.
Following Revenant (2023), starring Kim Tae Ri, Oh Jung Se, and Hong Kyung as leads, SBS is set to ambitiously present this new occult genre title, with the goal to air in 2027.
Meanwhile, Lee Jun Hyuk will be seen as Detective Park Mu Gyeong in Netflix's upcoming mystery thriller The Art of Sarah, where he stars alongside Shin Hae Sun.
The Art of Sarah tells the story of a woman, Sarah Kim (Shin Hae Sun), who wanted to embody luxury. She is suddenly labelled as the victim in a murder case. Digging deep into Sarah's mystery is Detective Park Mu Gyeong (Lee Jun Hyuk), who traces her desires only to uncover shocking truths.
