I watched the first episode. It’s cold woman x warm man, but honestly…she’s not even that “cold”. She’s still very polite to everyone around her, and pretty nice. Not to say that all “cold” people have to be rude or abrasive, but I was a bit underwhelmed by her characterization. Was hoping for a unique portrayal. The character is “sad” more than cold. 

As for the ML, his warmth is more like a shield than an intrinsic trait. Not sure how RR they’ll end up being. I think Simi’s prediction might be spot on about the drama having more egalitarian elements, which I’m also down for. 

The cinematography is stunning though, and the directing is quite poetic. I plan to watch another episode. The verdict is still out.

Absolutely, I will! I'm looking forward to seeing more individuals share their hobbies here, such as art, poetry, fan fiction, and perhaps even photography of landscapes that inspire them and evoke thoughts of their favorite characters. Perhaps modern music they feel suits RR characters.

It can be very rough, but maybe this is where my masochism sneaks in because sometimes I'll watch the first episode of something, and it'll be so good I like the feeling of excitement building as I wait for the next episode 😂 (It has to explicitly be a short-term wait. When it's too long that excitement turns into pain, and I'm not that masochistic).

The Mermaid Song 

Wowowowowowowowowowow! His voice is angelic! I've only heard male vocals this high in the few Chinese opera songs I've heard. But his voice is more airy, and pleasant to the ear. Out of all the songs, Asking Flowers is my favorite, so of course that's the one not available on Apple Music. 

I also really like Mermaid Song (the high notes are ugh...he sounds like a siren luring me into a watery grave), Clearly, and Chasing the Moon. I added them to my playlist for Chinese songs. They always deliver when it comes to ballads, man.

You won't believe me, but I knew of this singer already... I had heard his Unholy cover, which now that I'm relistening to it.... 👀👀👀 (also Cruel Summer is good, I'm listening to it rn) You just made me sub to him, thanks!!

His Unholy cover is...unholy >.> It's another cover I like more than the original. Him and his wife do such good collabs. 

And his high notes are really airy and cute.

Sadly, even people who don't follow celebs in the states know about Chris Brown. He beat up Rihanna when they were dating, and it was everywhere for years. He's just a bad person in general.

I dropped Duel because of the detective's atrocious fit and hair 😖 I didn't know Awaken was sci-fi... 

LOLLLL!!!! I can't with you at all! His facial hair really bothered me, but Yang Se Jong was cute enough to distract me. But I've dropped stuff for similar reasons so I can't even talk. 

I'd put Awaken in the same category as Duel: a thriller/suspense with big sci-fi elements. I don't know why nobody added the tag for Awaken. It's about mad scientists running a secret facility where they run tests on kids and inject them with this serum that gives them superhuman abilities.

You totally watched the SW prequels before the OG trilogy, didn't you? XD You're like the only person I know that'd consider SW to be politics-heavy, even tho it kinda is, tho the prequels definitely were the most politics-heavy. 

Kind of, but not fully, so that's why I said both? 😂 The prequels came out when I was a kid and no one in my family really cares about Star Wars, so I watched The Phantom Menace first in theaters. Then I took it upon myself and forced my mom to take me to BLOCKBUSTER (I'm really dating myself here lol) so I could rent the OG trilogy, and watch them before Attack of the Clones came out. I couldn't get into them, so I gave up. After Attack of the Clones but before Revenge of the Sith, I tried to watch them again. I was pretty young during the first attempt, so I figured that might have contributed to my boredom. Still couldn't connect to the characters, so I just watched Revenge of the Sith in theaters, then tried the OG trilogy again. After that, I was like clearly this is just not for me. I mean, it's not like I was even really into the prequels. I only liked Attack of the Clones, then mildly enjoyed Revenge of the Sith.

They're both politics-heavy to varying degrees, but I was actually interested in the relationships in the prequels so I could tolerate the movies more even if they were technically more politics-heavy. Interesting interpersonal relationships can sometimes be a buffer for heavy politics, but only sometimes and it depends on the relationships lol.

I couldn't connect to Luke or Leia, and I hated Leia and Han Solo's dynamic (from what I saw).

Whaaaaat? That's an interesting observation! I must be of the exceptions then, because I dislike my brain hurting in any way xD Mindfucky stuff leaves me feeling weird and off, and oftentimes disturbed, so I avoid it.

Yeah, I've noticed a link between people who like mindf*cky movies and books, and their willingness to engage in philosophical, abstract, and/or uncomfortable conversations. They seek out that "my brain hurts" feeling in movies, so they like/don't mind if it starts to happen during a conversation. 

It makes me wonder what you'd have to say about movies like Memento, Us, and even The Prestige. All very good mindf*ck movies that had me thinking about them for days, or drinking and discussing them with my friends for hours.

Yup! And Memento. He's lowkey one of my favorite directors. Everyone says that now though 😅
